A few months back, an internet video featuring a honey badger’s exploits narrated by a man with a comically effeminate voice went massively viral, spawning TV commercials and sparking endless Facebook shares.

The honey badger video addressed one of the main complaints about wildlife videos- that the narration was sufficiently boring to mask the exciting goings on of wildlife exploits. So while the nastyass honey badger trots around ripping other animals to shreds and passing out because it parties too hard, narrator Randall- who has, until now, been entirely unseen- gives the clip a far more interesting slant while still accurately narrating the honey badger’s voice.

TMZ caught up with Randall, who explained his motivation in retooling the honey badger voice narration. He says:

“My assistant showed me the original honey badger video and I was just like, the narration was so mundune and so stupid. This animal is eating cobras, demolishing animals, and ya know what, this narration is so boring. I said, you know what, we need to spice things up a bit.”

Of why he selected the honey badger to voice, Randall says:

“I think because in today’s society it’s an animal I feel a lot of people can relate to. I think people are fed up. I think a lot of people want to be able to take what they want. And I believe firmly… everyone inside of them has an inner honey badger waiting to get out.”

Perhaps the funniest thing about the clip below is that Randall-in-real-life sounds just like Randall-doing-honey-badger’s-voice. The viral video star is set to release the book Honey Badger Don’t Care: Randall’s Guide to Crazy, Nastyass Animals soon, and may even be getting his own animated series. The FedEx worker- who tossed a customer’s new monitor over a fence, breaking it, rather than walk 10 feet to the front door where the customer stood waiting- probably picked the worst time of year to engage in such shenanigans.

Emotions are running high about shipments as it gets ever closer to the wire for Christmas, and online shoppers are relying more and more on timely, intact delivery of their packages. Certain carriers are well-known for a propensity for not actually waiting until you answer the door, merely leaving a note that you were “out” and to wait for redelivery when in truth, you were camped out on the other side of your front door for eight hours, feverishly awaiting the arrival of the package you’d been tracking all morning via text, email and the online interface. (Many demotivational posters have dubbed one three letter carrier in brown attire “ring and run world champions” for their habit of getting much wanted electronic devices to your door and then absconding with them to “the facility.”)

The FedEx monitor-breaking clip went viral because so many people could sympathize with the buyer’s plight, and perhaps because it confirmed so many of our suspicions about how our goods are treated when they are in transit to us. However, it also kind of makes you wonder if the drivers are allotted enough time to account for holiday season delivery volume, or if they have to do stupid things like chuck a flat-screen device over a massive gate in order to get everything delivered, or face sanctions.

FedEx SVP Matthew Thornton says that he met with the irate customer in person, and the company resolved the issue to the man’s satisfaction. Thornton explains:

“I want you to know that I was upset, embarrassed, and very sorry for our customer’s poor experience. We have met with the customer face to face and they already have a  replacement monitor at no cost to them.  They have accepted our apology and say they are fully satisfied with what we’ve done in response to this unacceptable delivery.”

In a statement, FedEx said:

“The situation has now been resolved to the customer’s satisfaction, and we are handling the employee according to our disciplinary policies…While we continue to be surprised about the behavior shown, we know this is an aberration and is not reflective of the outstandingFedEx customer service that makes us proud around the world.”

Rebecca Black is about to get overshadowed by a 55-year-old Casino executive from New Jersey. Allen Samuels on August 5 released a video called “Living De Life” which has gained more than 365,000 views at the time of this post.

In the promo for the video Samuels calls Shaquille O’Neal a friend (we know how his rap career worked out), while talking about his VIP section lifestyle, private jet and playing golf.

He raps:

“I’m livin’ de life, livin’ de life, if you ain’t with it shorty then you’re part of the hype.”

Allen is already calling his song a “hit” and says he owes his success to the likes of Tupac and 50 Cent.

When asked if he minds the various negative comments he’s received on the videos page he says of the criticism:

“I’m used to it from the casino business but I have a lot of confidence in myself,” while he adds, “To be honest, it’s hard to read some of the things but I’m just having fun with it, staying positive and enjoying the ride.”

I have to hand it to Allen Samuels, at least he realizes he’s not the next Tupac and he definitely has a positive outlook on life. One advantage he has over Rebecca Black? He’s probably not going to get picked on by kids at the playground.

Ted Williams, the homeless man with a “golden voice,” is having the most eventful January that has ever occurred.

Williams, as you probably know, started out the year living on the streets of Columbus and voice-busking for money. After a video of his talents went viral on Reddit, Williams was abruptly whisked from the streets, given a house and landed several jobs. He recorded a Superbowl ad for Kraft Homestyle Mac & Cheese, but soon (really soon) made headlines again because he was arrested at a Los Angeles hotel for an altercation with his adult daughter- reportedly over money.

Still in January, he found the time to appear on the show of celebrity stern taking-toer Dr. Phil McGraw, former right hand straight-shooter of Miss Oprah Winfrey herself. Dr. Phil coaxed Williams into rehab, normally an act that signals the end or dormancy of the celebrity cycle in a famous person, sparking concern that Williams had or was about to relapse. (Williams admitted it was substance abuse issues that landed him on the streets.) Williams’ girlfriend remains in a different California rehab center, but the location of the luckiest homeless man in the US is not currently known, at least to the press.

In a statement Dr. Phil released yesterday, he acknowledges Williams’ choice in the matter and wishes him well:

“Ted was given the chance to voluntarily enter a drug rehabilitation facility in order to help him in dealing with his dependency on drugs and alcohol. In that it is voluntary, the decision to remain in treatment is Ted’s to make. We certainly hope that he continues his commitment to sobriety, and we will continue to help and support him in any way that we can. We wish him well.”

Did you see the video going around earlier this week of a woman falling in a mall fountain while texting (clip below) and getting laughed at by mall cops?

Early today, a story popped up wherein the woman, offering her full name in an interview as well as her picture, complains that the video in which she is barely identifiable is mortifying. In that local news article, Cathy Cruz Marrero begins grumbling about negligence on the part of mall security:

“My issue is I don’t think security was professional because they didn’t send anyone to check on me until 20 minutes later and I had already left… Instead of laughing, they should have said, ‘Is she OK?’ and been down there right away to check on me,” she said.

By the time she’d hit ABC with her tale, Cruz Marrero had hired a lawyer. But pretty much immediately, ABC dug up some interesting information about the woman who fell in the fountain’s possible reasons for coming forward. It seems Cruz Marrero is facing some fairly serious credit card theft charges, and might soon be placed under six months of house arrest:

She has been out on $7,500 bail since her 2009 charges for alleged theft, records show… According to court records, Ileana Rivera of Reading, Pa., who worked at the Zales jewelry store in the Fairgrounds Square Mall with Marrero, reported that Marrero had used her credit cards without permission… Marrero allegedly made $4,177 in purchases at Zales and $1,055 in purchases at a Target around the time of August 2007, records show.

It also came to light that the fountain-falling texter has a prior record. Her lawyer points out that his client had no way of knowing the clip would go viral, thus negating claims she’d orchestrated the situation to precipitate a lawsuit:

“For that to be true, she would have had to known this was going to be posted to YouTube.”

Dr. Phil McGraw, America’s busybody, has reportedly talked newly homeful and “Golden Voiced” former homeless man Ted Williams into going to rehab after Williams got into an altercation with one of his up-until-recently estranged children at a Los Angeles hotel.

Williams has struggled with addiction in the past, but was reportedly clean for two years leading up to his discovery on an Ohio city streetcorner. Now thanks to Dr. Phil, he will be away from the harmful, productive environment of being on TV and getting paid and mark his first month in a while of gainful employment by surrounding himself with other people with substance abuse problems- an environment not too different from the streets that were his home just a scant week and a half ago:

“If Ted is ever going to get better, he’s got to be honest with himself and admit he’s addicted to drugs and alcohol,” said Dr. Phil McGraw. “I’ve told him it’s not going to be easy and it’s going to take a lot of hard work. It might be a long journey for him, but this is a big step in the right direction.”

While a measure of counseling and guidance is certainly a good thing for Williams, it seems like a bit much to thrust upon the man at the apex of his national recognition and as offers roll in. Either way, hopefully Williams will find the support he needs without having to be kept away from doing what he seems to be so gifted in doing.

Ted Williams, the homeless man who rose to prominence on the internet last week after a video of him demonstrating his vocal talents on a Columbus, Ohio streetcorner attracted national attention, has been detained by Los Angeles police after an incident at a Hollywood hotel.

Williams has already voiced his first spot, a Superbowl ad for Kraft Macaroni & Cheese. And now it seems he’s hit another milestone, his first scandal. Admittedly, the gossip quotient is low here- Williams was merely “detained” by the Los Angeles Police Department after an argument with his daughter at a hotel- but the story has nonetheless compelled the attention of an internet simultaneously hoping against and waiting for a kink in the rags-to-riches narrative.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the incident did not result in any arrests, but that could change:

Williams was eventually released, and the sources said the investigation was continuing. The sources stressed it’s unclear if any arrests would result from the probe. Sources spoke on the condition of anonymity because the case was ongoing.

Williams was in town to film a slew of TV appearances, including one on Entertainment Tonight.

The video of a homeless man in Columbus, Ohio panhandling using his “golden radio voice” has racked up over four million views in the past day.

The clip was widely distributed yesterday after it was posted on Reddit, and within a day, Ted Williams went from demonstrating his incongruous announcer like tones for dollars from passersby to a job and house offer from the Cleveland Cavaliers. The New York Post reports:

“The Cleveland Cavaliers just offered me a full-time job and a house! A house! A house!,” repeated a stunned Williams, 71, on local radio station WNCI.

A caller to the show who said she represented the Cavs offered Williams, who shot to stardom after local newspaper the Columbus Dispatch on Monday posted video of his perfectly-pitched panhandling, a full-time job doing voiceover work for the team and parent company and a free home in Cleveland.

Williams told the radio station that he had been homeless for about a year, and that he was “just so happy” about the sudden recognition and opportunities.

Klick, a company that puts a suspicious amount of emphasis on workplace-enforced fun, has released a video for Christmas showing a bunch of employees referencing “over 50 viral videos, Internet sensations, holiday movies and TV shows.” (Although their page with the video isn’t clear on what the company actually does, there are “Stress-Release Wednesdays, Thai Food Fridays, Whirlyball Tournaments, Hallow-bowling, Poker nights, and other theme parties.”)

45-year-old Mary Bale, the woman who was caught on camera trapping a neighbor’s pet cat Lola in a “wheelie bin,” has been fined for the actions that garnered her international scorn after the clip went viral.

Bale was reportedly “tearful” as a judge acknowledged the widespread anger directed at Bale for her strange, cruel actions. The court acknowledged Bale’s stressful circumstances at the time- her father was dying- but levied a $395 fine against the woman for abusing the animal:

Handing down the fine, she said: “The media interest in this case has resulted in you being vilified in some quarters and I have taken that into account.”

Judge Goulborn, who was told Bale’s elderly father was gravely ill at the time, added: “I accept that you were in a stressful situation at the time, but that’s no excuse for what you did.”

In addition to the fine of £250, Bale was also ordered to pay a £15 “victim surcharge” and court costs of £1,171. Of her actions, at the time, Bale explained “it’s only a cat.”

The family of 23-year-old accident victim Dayna Kempson-Schacht say discovering video of the crash that killed their daughter and her devastating fatal injuries was “beyond words.”

Kempson-Schacht was killed instantly in the July 17th crash, but two months later, her father Jeff Kempson says he received a text with video of the crash’s aftermath, including his daughter’s corpse, close up:

It’s 30 seconds of up close images of Schacht’s crash, including her dead body.

The audio is two first responders talking about what they see. “Hold that down there. Oh my god.”

“One asked the other to move the flash light on to her body and when he did that, you can graphically see the severe head trauma,” said Kempson.

Investigators at the Spalding County sheriff’s department believe that a firefighter who responded to the scene of the accident took the footage, which then spread among other firefighters and patrons at a local bar. Police say that the first responder didn’t break any laws in taking and sharing the video, but they are examining whether policy was violated. The Kempsons, however, feel something should be done considering the secondary trauma they’ve endured:

“How could someone, first of all, take the video. And second of all, how could they show it and discuss it,” said Kempson.

The Kempsons say their daughter has been disrespected — victimized again by someone the public should be able to trust.

“When I close my eyes, it’s not fair that that video is what I see of my daughter,” said mother Lucreta Kempson.

As we posted last month, the “Bed Intruder” news clip and subsequent remix that sold millions of copies have proven to be an unexpected financial boon to the family of Antoine Dodson.

Dodson has confirmed that he purchased a home for his whole family outside the projects, a newly built dwelling that hopefully has less-intrudable beds:

“We found a house! [We are so] excited … It’s for my whole family. And these are new houses that have just been built.”

Dodson also says that with the profits culled from his cut of the video (The Gregory Brothers split it 50/50 with him), he plans to complete business school and would like to start his own company:

“I signed up to finish my associate’s degree in business,” he says. “That way I can take everything to the next level and be on a more professional level.”

He’d like to “open a salon… or a hotel.”

Perez Hilton speculated upon the possible content for an ad for a Dodson-run salon:

Dodson didn’t disclose how much cheddar the clip allowed him to check. He also said that despite widespread attention to the case stemming from the video’s popularity, police have no leads to capture the Lincoln Park rapist.
