Michael Brea, who had a small part on Ugly Betty and was once in a Coke ad, has been taken to a Brooklyn hospital for evaluation after killing his mother- 55-year-old Yannick Brea, a September 11th survivor- with a samurai sword inside their Prospect Heights apartment.

Neighbors in the building, who have described Brea as “real kind,” allege NYPD officers who arrived on the scene did not respond aggressively enough as Brea’s mother lay “groaning” audibly in the apartment:

“I could hear her groaning inside … She was still alive, but they wouldn’t go in,” said Clinton Clare, 52, who lived in the apartment below the Brea family.

Brea’s upstairs neighbor says that after the attack, no one would answer the door at the apartment:

“I heard a ‘Help me!’ shriek,” said Vernal Bent, 18, who lived in the apartment above. “Police kept knocking on the door. Knocking and knocking … All of us kept saying, ‘Open the door.’”

Neighbors also report that Brea was incoherent and “spouting gibberish” when taken from the apartment after the attack.

ABC has pulled Ugly Betty from their spring lineup.

Ugly Better will be replaced by episodes of Samantha Who? and the new comedy In the Motherhood.

According to Michael Ausiello at EW, the network said that the show “will return to Thursday nights at 8:00 p.m. following the run of In the Motherhood and Samantha Who?,” or in other words, mid June, outside the regular season.

While Ugly Betty hasn’t been canceled, taking it out of the regular season can’t be a good sign for the show, and the odds of it being renewed have just lengthened.

… is not one that involves multiple, almost simultaneous excuses about one’s clients behavior that also happen to be ridiculous. When Naomi Campbell was pictured in this rather compromising pose (back bend? faint?), her Creative Agent responded to The Sun with the following comment: “It was just a bit of fun and not down to drink. Naomi was playing this trust game, where you fall into a friend’s arms. It’s very hot there, so that could also have had something to do with it.”

Suuure. I bet Naomi is really down with the trust games, especially after a night out clubbing in Capri. Somehow that doesn’t really strike me as her style, probably because everyone knows that girl has no shortage of enemies.

It looks like Lindsay Lohan’s reputation has preceded itself, since nobody really wants to work with her anymore. According to recent reports, Lindsay was pulled from “Manson Girls” because there weren’t any well-known actresses willing to star alongside her. Of course, her rep has released a statement that “She is not able to do the film as she has signed on to the film ‘Labor Pains’ and the TV show ‘Ugly Betty’ and the dates conflict.” Maybe they’re just afraid that all their stuff is going to get stolen?

That’s being said, perhaps it’s better to say that nobody else wants to work with Lindsay, who was “terrific” in Ugly Betty. I guess news doesn’t travel fast enough or one good bit doesn’t quite make up for the rest.

Poor girl. Sort of. I have a romanticized version playing in my head where she’s so misunderstood, but that’s pretty much crap and I know it.
