Today, Twilight Lautner turns 20. The Twilight Star has turned into a huge movie star over the last few years and the future is only getting brighter.

Lautner is just about to wrap up the “Twilight Saga,” (you can see an exclusive sneak peak of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2: here) and he already has a few post “Twilight” movies lined up. He had his first solo outing last year with “Abduction” and in 2013 he’ll be starring in “Incarceron” and “Goliath.”

Last night, Twilight fans flocked by the hundreds to Target stores in order to pick up a copy of The Twilight Saga – Breaking Dawn – Part One, which was released at midnight. Fans who showed up to get a copy of the movie on DVD were also treated to a sneak peak of the final installment of the Twilight series, Breaking Dawn – Part Two.

According to MTV, the exclusive clip was played at more than 500 Target stores across the county.

If the video from the Target sneak peak, which is a little blurry and hard to hear, doesn’t satisfy your hunger for Twilight, Collider reports that a new trailer will be shown before the Hunger Games on March 23rd. (You can see a trailer for Hunger Games here.)

The now movie will hit theaters later this year on November 16th.

It’s official, thanks to Hasbro, the production company of popular 70s/90s flex toy and Relativity Media, “Stretch Armstrong” will be making its way to the big screen.

Initially actor and Twilight heartthrob Taylor Lautner was attached to star in the project, but today it was announced that he’s decided to part ways with the blockbuster project that’s sure to make big bucks. The issue is said to be over scheduling conflicts, which was confirmed by TheWrap.

Taylor Lautner has been doing quite well for himself in setting himself a part from the “Twilight” franchise, snagging roles in the action film “Abduction” which only made half the budget back with $82.5 million worldwide, and Sci Fi film “Incarceron” which is slated for a 2013 release date.

The “Stretch Armstrong” picture was originally in development at Universal Studios and Lautner was going to make a reported 7.5 million not including backend from the film. The actor even cleared his schedule by turning down “Northern Lights” and “Max Steel”.

The film will draw inspiration from the 1970s toy and the 90s relaunch of the toy. The cast soon to be announced the film is slated for a April 14, 2014  release date.

While Pattinson’s locks have never been quite as iconic as, say, Bieber’s mop, the British actor’s flowing, non-threatening male hairdo has become sort of synonymous with his Twilight character Edward Cullen.

Now filming has stopped on the Twilight series – at least until later this year, when a sixth movie is to be shot – Pattinson has been freed of any obligation to keep the pretty boy look. The new look is more Cockney-lad-on-the-lash-in-Ibiza.

At the People’s Choice Awards gala in LA, the British actor rocked his closely cut crop as he accepted the award for Best Drama Movie for Water for Elephants. His speech doubled as an opportunity for teen girls around the world to delight/hyperventilate/break down at the sight of the new ‘do.

After being handed the gong by Zacchary Levi and his former Twilight co-star Ashley Greene, Pattinson told the audience at the Nokia Theater:

“Wow. Thank you very much. I don’t know why they asked me to accept it because it’s really a lot of other people as well. When I was doing this movie, I was having so much fun doing it that I was saying to everyone I didn’t even care if anyone saw it. But now that people have seen it and they’re giving awards for it, I’m even more thankful for the whole experience, so thank you guys very much.”

After playing a more than century-old virgin for the series of popular Twilight films, it seems the man who plays Edward Cullen- Robert Pattinson- may have internalized some of the celibate vamp’s sexual hang-ups.

The predecessors to the films- the Twilight books- are notoriously associated with abstinence from sex, and Pattinson has talked about the strangeness of that sort of intimacy in a recent interview. Pattinson was asked about pre-marital sex by German tabloid BZ Berlin, and the Twilight star responded:

“I think that depends on how you grew up. I know people that wouldn’t do anything they regret later on. Everyone has to know for themselves. Sex is such a weird thing because it’s connected to so many emotions. It’s something really personal and that should be respected.”

The books are critiqued- and somewhat rightly so- for their unrealistic depictions of sex both before and after the big deal wedding scene. Both Edward and Bella are virgins prior to their honeymoon, and a significant amount of handwringing occurs over whether Edward’s super vampire strength will harm Bella when they consummate their marriage. Bella- as she does throughout the books- pressures Edward sexually, but after the first time, he destroys the room due to his big deal sexual skills. Bella is unfazed, but Edward begins his cycle of sexual self-hatred anew.

Of the dynamic, Pattinson told the tabloid:

“
Of course, because Bella and Edward are virgins and because of that we had to create those especially intensive emotions. It means a lot to the fans, that the two of them finally get closer to each other and we were aware of that responsibility.”

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1 has finished No. 1 at the box office for the third week in a row. The first part of Stephanie Meyers’ last book in the series managed to rake in another $16.9 million on the domestic market, remaining No. 1 after 17 days in wide release.

With nearly $17 million more in the bank Twilight’s newest offering has taken in $247.3 million in North America, still slight less than the $255.4 million New Moon raked in back in 2009.

When all was said and done taking number one wasn’t hard during a weekend that saw just $82 million in sales. The critic and fan raved about movie The Muppets was expected to take the top spot from Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart but despite excellent reviews it managed just $11.2 million, taking it’s total to $56.1 million since Thanksgiving.

There is some good news for Muppets fans, after debuting with a 65% adult fan base over the age of 18 it at least appears in part that this past weekends audience was younger, meaning a nice transition to a new generation of Muppets fans.

In other box office news Hugo fell to $7.6 million while Arthur Christmas had a take of just $7.4 million. Both of those movies were offered in 3-D which usually helps push up box office take because of the higher cost associated with 3D movies.

There may still be some good news for the $150 million Hugo production as Paramount Pictures has expanded the movie into 1,800 locations amid amazing critical reviews of the movie and increasing talk of awards season buzz.

Michelle Trachtenberg was almost cast as Bella Swan in the Twilight franchise. The “Ice Princess” actress said that she was seriously considered for the role because, well, there aren’t too many pale actresses in Hollywood.

Trachtenberg told US Weekly:

“There was definitely interest here and there because there’s only so few pale girls in Hollywood.”

Tratchtenberg also said that her relationship with Catherine Hardwicke, who directed the first movie in the Twilight series, also almost landed her the role.

Tratchtenberg said:

“I’ve known Catherine Hardwicke since the movie Thirteen. I was actually supposed to star in that, but I was on Buffy at the time.”

“Twilight: Breaking Dawn,” just had the third biggest opening day of all-time, but Tratchtenberg isn’t disappointed that she missed out on the role of Bella Swan.

Tratchtenberg said:

“I already have “Buffy.” I’ve already done the vampire thing… (If you keep asking yourself ‘what if?’ than) you’re not living in the moment and you’re looking negatively at what you’re doing now.”

Last weekend Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 1 destroyed it’s box office competitors with a $139.5 million haul and now for a second week in a row the movie has once again taken the top movie spot with $62.3 million.

Unlike last week when Breaking Dawn had zero competition (Happy Feet Two took in just $22 million) they actually saw a decent second place competitor in The Muppets which pulled in $42 million over the holiday weekend. The Muppets also managed to score the most critical success over the weekend with an average “A” rating according to research firm CinemaScore.  The Muppets also cost a paltry $45 million to produce, just $5 million more than Twilight paid in combined salary to Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.

Rounding out the top four spots was Arthur Christmas which added $17 million to the weekend box office while Hugo offered up another $15.4 million.

Hugo, based off the best-selling children’s book The Invention of Hugo Cabret was the biggest loser of the weekend, the film cost a reported $150 million to produce with some estimates placing that total even higher at $170 million.

A scene in the latest installment of Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1 has some doctors worried after the film has reportedly caused several people to have seizures.

According to reports the birthing scene in the movie has caused in-theater seizures known as photosensitive epilepsy. It’s believed that the bright flashing of red and black colors is causing the incidents.

According to experts who spoke with CBS Sacramento:

The red, white and black imagery that flashes quickly during the scene could trigger photosensitive epilepsy. “It’s like a light going off because it hits your brain all at once,” Dr. Michael G. Chez says. “The trouble with theaters is that they’re so dark, the light flashing in there is more like a strobe light.”

Brandon Gephart, a recent seizure victim who was attending the movie with his wife told ABC News  that he began “convulsing, snorting, [and] trying to breathe,” while watching the movie last week. Gephart says he doesn’t remember the incident but awoke on the theater floor and was eventually taken to the hospital by paramedics.

Other incidents with similar results have been experienced all over the country, in one case a wife in Utah said her husband:

“Started mumbling and he was blinking on and off with his eyes at that point.  I was kneeling in front of him slapping his face.”

That couple says they left the theater and upon returning the next day they heard that the same strange event had happened to another girl in the same movieplex.

Kristen Stewart has been talking up the bond she has with her co-stars in Twilight, leaving a special mention for … no, not real-life boyfriend/on-screen lover Robert Pattinson, but Taylor Lautner, who has played Jacob Black in the film series since 2008.

The 21-year-old says she always does her best to ensure her or Lautner keep in touch, insisting that they bonded strongly on the set of the vampire movie:

“When I don’t see Taylor for a while I take out my phone and call him. It’s not like I see him all the time or every day, it’s just that when you work with people like that, you can give so much. It’s so comfortable, you can do no wrong – they’ve got you. We get along together and I think it shows.”

The 21-year-old actress got close to her 19-year-old co-star while filming the vampire movies. and says phone calls and emails help her keep in touch with Lautner.

Not that Pattinson should be getting too jealous – Stewart says she has become close with all her cast-mates, and believes that such friendship was critical when it came to making so many damn Twilight movies:

“I couldn’t have done this without them. I can’t imagine what this movie would have been if I didn’t have really solid – and always growing – relationships with them.”

Despite scathing reviews from various outlets The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn—Part 1 earned more than six times it’s nearest competitor this weekend with $139.5 million in domestic box office earnings.

That total makes the newest chapter in Stephanie Meyer’s book series the fifth biggest opening weekend movie of all time, yet it still fell short of the last installments $142.8 million weekend.

In second place was Happy Feet Two which took in just $22 million compared to a 2006 take of  $41.6 million during the first week of release.

Rounding out the top five movies for the weekend were:

• Immortals, $12.3 million; down 62% in its second weekend.
• Jack and Jill, $12 million; also in its second weekend, down 52%.
• Puss in Boots, $10.7 million in its fourth weekend.

Does it surprise you to learn that Twilight did so well at the box office despite awful reviews and an ending that much like the final two Harry Potter movies left fans wishing they would have just made one longer movie?

Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart, and Robert Pattinson are on their way to setting a few box office records. The new Twilight movie, Breaking Dawn, brought in $72 million from domestic tickets on opening day, and another $66 million worldwide.

Breaking Dawn‘s box office performance on opening day was the third highest in history. According to the Hollywood Reporter, only Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 and Twilight: New Moon had bigger opening days. When New Moon was released two years ago, it brought in $72.7 million on opening day.

MTV reports that midnight showings helped Breaking Dawn to set box-office records. Breaking Dawn played in more than 3,000 theaters at 12:01 on Friday morning, before adding another thousand location by mid-morning. The new Twilight movie brought in $30.25 million from midnight showings alone.

According to Bloomberg, industry experts are predicting that Breaking Dawn will gross $300 million during the film’s domestic theater run.

Breaking Dawn may be a huge money maker, but critics aren’t too impressed. The movie currently has a score of just 27% rating from more than 136 critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

Dana Stevens at Slate writes:

“By any normal standard, this is a terrible movie, with stilted dialogue and leaden pacing — every 15 minutes or so, the action stops for a musical montage involving slow-motion handsomeness. But the Twilight saga stopped being normal a long time ago.”

Of course, Twilight fans disagree. Fans gave the new Twilight movie a 92% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Want to be the first to see Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn? If you’re reading this, you’re probably out of luck. Fans have been camping out for days in front of the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles for the Breaking Dawn premiere.

The movie will hit theaters worldwide this weekend, but for fans who just can’t wait to witness Edward and Bella’s marriage, the Nokia Theater is the place to be tonight. According to Zap2It, fans have been sitting outside of the Nokia Theater since November 10th in order to get a glimpse of Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner as they walk the red carpet tonight for the Breaking Dawn premiere.

If you can’t make it to the Nokia Theater tonight, you can still catch a glimpse of all the action. MTV.com will be streaming the event live starting at 8 pm ET. (You can see the feed below.) MTV will also play a “never before seen scene” from the movie at 7:56.

Do you want to waste some time? Try to logically explain vampire babies. In the latest installment in the Twilight series, Bella will give birth to Edward’s vampire baby. Is this even possible? Can undead creatures like vampires get erections? Could Bella’s womb really handle the strain of having a vampire baby?

Do people really try to answer these types of questions?

Twilight Saga Answers explains that Twilight author Stephanie Meyer “drew upon tales of the supernatural seducer known as the incubus (reputed to feed off of its victim’s life force, but not necessarily to drink blood) in creating the circumstance of the vampire Edward fathering a child (half vampire, half human) with his human wife Bella.”

Ok, that’s great and all. But if Vampires are undead how can they create a living being? Is the vampire baby born undead, or living?

Zap2it notes that Meyer isn’t the first author to have her vampires give birth. In “Grave of the Vampire” and “Lost Souls,” a character gets impregnated by a vampire. Apparently, the correct term for a vampire baby is a dhampir. Dhampirs, from Balkan folklore, are supposedly adept at finding and killing vampires. So much for fatherly love.

So let’s pretend that vampire babies can exist. Could Bella survive the traumatic experience of giving birth to a Dhampir? Robert Pattinson described the birth scene from Breaking Dawn, and it isn’t pretty. Pattinson said:

“I think it would be impossible to show the full extent of what the set looked like without it being R-rated. I remember going onto the set the first day and they had this prosthetic dummy as Kristen and it was so emaciated with this huge mutated baby bump. And her ribcage was sticking out! She was just lying there dead like a zombie, just covered in blood!”

As for vampire erections, I’m going to say plausible in the world of fiction. Vampires have been sexual beasts for a long time. Movies like “Bram Stoker’s Dracula” were full of vampire sex. Maybe vampires suck just enough blood to keep their love pump going.

Kristen Stewart may have shot to fame as the impassive Bella from the blockbuster Twilight series of books and films, but the actress is arguably known for her- well, lack of range. (This was recently even sent up on Beavis and Butthead in their debut return episode.)

Along with Stewart’s chronic “meh” face, Twilight is notable in a genre that is a sex metaphor for being notoriously sexless. Sexless! The romance novels hardly get any sex until the very last book, only after the lead characters are married, and even then results in a half-breed demon baby that essentially kills one of the main characters, because sex is bad, mm-kay? But it seems that when the sex finally did come to Twilight, in the Breaking Dawn installment, Stewart’s acting ability came to the forefront- and threatened to impede the movies’ squeaky clean appeal.

Both Robert Pattinson and director Bill Condon joked about Stewart’s on-screen prowess, saying that the intensity of the scenes needed to be dulled somewhat despite a firm lack of MPAA guidelines about what constitutes an R-rated sex scene. Condon explained:

“It wasn’t rated R, they don’t rate it.They just say, ‘you know, we’re not hitting a PG yet.’ Frankly it’s a very clinical thing. I’ve been through this before when I was trying not to get an X or NC-17 rating on Kinsey, but because it’s so subjective, they have very specific guidelines.”

The director continued:

“I hate to be clinical, but guidelines on thrusting intercourse. Anything that suggested that- not to make people too excited it was never explicit — but I think any movement that suggests that is what they object to. I suspect that because of the popularity of Twilight we had an even bigger focus.”
