If you missed Transformers Dark of the Moon in theaters or you simply want to see the movie for a second time you’ll be able to pick up the movies Blu-Ray/DVD combo on September 30th while the 3D version is expected to arrive for 3D enabled phones at another time.

The movie earned $1.1 billion in worldwide box office, surpassing both of the first two movies in the series.

Buyers willing to wait an undisclosed amount of time will be able to pick up the deluxe Blu-Ray version if 3D isn’t their cup of tea.

According to director Michael Bay:

“For fans who can’t wait, the Blu-ray release in September will deliver an awesome ride with the movie in stunning 1080p high definition and a 7.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtrack that was personally overseen by our phenomenal supervising sound mixer just for the Blu-ray.”

Bay went on to add:

“As you know, we put a lot of effort into the 3D experience for the theatrical release and I want to make sure we get it right for home viewing-and that process takes time. So stay tuned for an even more incredible release that will include the film on Blu-ray 3D and loads of bonus features.”

Buyers of the first Blu-Ray release will still receive 1080P high definition playback, English 7.1 Dolby TrueHD and English 4.1 Discreete Dolby Digital and English 2.0 Discrete Surround Dolby Digital tracks (A first for Paramount Home Entertainment).

The DVD in the combo pack is also featured in widescreen with Dolby Digital English 4.1 Surround and English 2.0 Discrete Surround.

Transformers Dark of the Moon didn’t take in the type  of box office gold seen with the first two movies in the series but the third offering still managed the best box office opening of 2011 with $97.4 million domestically, beating out Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides which took in $90.2 million earlier in the year.

The movie, which officially opened on Tuesday has taken in $162 million domestically, a drop from $200.1 million during the first five days of Revenge of the Fallen.”

Paramount Pictures is estimating a total take through the fourth of July totaling $180.9 million, while the movie internationally has already added $210 million for a total of $372 million to date.

In comparison 2009′s ”Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” took in $109 million during the first weekend of release and it beat out Spider-Man 2 which in 2004 set a 4th of July record at $88.2 million.

As previously reported the movie also opened to more IMAX screens than any other movie previously offered on the large format screens and broke that record with $22.5 million globally, the first time an IMAX movie has open over the $20 million mark.

Shia LaBeouf is done with Transformers, lasting one more movie than his former co-star Megan Fox.

Speaking with MTV News the actor said:

“I’m not coming back to do another one. I don’t think [director Michael Bay] will either,” he went on to add, ”It’s still a hot property, I think, especially coming out of the third one. So I imagine they’ll reboot it at some point with someone else.”

There doesn’t appear to be any hard feelings involved with his decision, in fact LaBeouf says that Dark Of The Moon is the “best movie yet” in basic terms of “action and geography.”

Considering the second movie was slammed by critic and some fans, I sure hope it ends up being better and I honestly can’t picture the movies without Michael Bay behind the lens and Shia leading the way with his autobot friends.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon will debut in 3D next month at the Moscow International Film Festival.

Michael Bay will be in attendance for the show which will take place at the Pushkinsky Cinema Theatre in Moscow on June 23.

Also expected to join the premiere are film stars Shia LaBeouf, Patrick Dempsey, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, John Malkovich, and Megan Fox replacement Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

The special premiere also marks the first time in festival history that an American film with an American cast has opened the festival.  It also marks the first world premiere for a film at the Russian event.

The movie will debut in America in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D on June 29.

Prime, his Autobots and their arch nemeses the Decepticons are getting ready to take theaters by storm for the third time and final time in Transformers: Dark of the Moon and the blockbusters trailer is now available.

What should viewers expect? As was the case with the last two movies, a lot of really cool action, funny scenes, plenty of Transformers and Shia LaBeouf with the extra eye-candy this time presented by Megan Fox replacement, the super-hot supermodel Rosie Hungtington-Whiteley.

Also appears will be John Malkovich and Patrick Dempsey.

Buddy Valastro, star of the hit TV show Cake Boss was in NYC yesterday to unveil what might possibly be the coolest cake we’ve ever seen, a massive replica of the Transformer Autobot Bumblebee.

The cake was unveiled at a Chevrolet event and will be shown in more detail during the June 20th episode of Cake Boss on TLC.

In the meantime check out the size of the cake! I’m just curious to know if it’s mostly made of of rods and other foundations and not so much made out of cake as is often the case with these huge types of food designs.

If you plan on taking your kids to see Transformers: Dark of The Moon this summer you might want to think about spicing up their experience a little bit with the Hasbro Cine-Mask 3D glasses experience.

Being sold before the show releases in theaters, the glasses, available in Optimus Prime (picured above) and Bumblebee (pictured below) setups allow your kids to show their support for the coolest robots on the planet.

Each pair of glasses encase a real pair of RealD 3D glasses so the entire experience is true to form with other moviegoers who may only pay a few extra dollars for their glasses, but who will definitely not look like much of a fan next to your children.

Rumor has it that we may be facing the coming of Matrix 4 and 5, in 3D of course, and as bad as that might be I stumbled across an video clip of the work in progress; or maybe it’s for the next Transformer’s – not entirely sure but either way it looks to be set in India.

Over the weekend I brought the steampunk version of some Marvel superheros and as cool as they might be I am sure that not everyone felt the same way so I stepping up the game a little bit and bringing you this really cool Optimus Prime from the Transformers.

Of course good old Optimus Prime can be found in just about any toy store but I doubt any of them will be as cool as this one. You see Encline Designs has hand crafted a steampunk version of OP that collapses into a beautiful looking steam engine.

Dear Movie Industry,

We love you – just to clarify, “we” is most of America and large portions of the world-at-large.  But you’re quickly becoming prey to your own scheming and need to be saved before you collapse from the weight of your own self-indulgence.

We’re here for you.

Over your history, you’ve produced alot of good, quality movies of all types, genres, and styles.  Recently, however, you’ve become more interested in print-to-film adaptations, sequels, and reboots than true originality or creativity – just look at the recent list of sequels announced: Boondock Saints II, Spider-Man 4, Transformers 3, and Indiana Jones 5.  This may ultimately be your downfall.

Don’t get us wrong, we love some of your sequels.  And we love the movies you’re making sequels of – Transformers 2 may not have had the approval of the critics, but us fans seemed to love it.  The problem is when you assume that the financial success of certain types of movies (like action, scifi, or thrillers) means there not only should be a sequel, but that we somehow demand one and will support it through the end.

This inevitably results in disasters like Spider-Man 3, where the series concept takes a turn for the worse and throws dirt on its own good name.  The “they just don’t live up to their predecessors or expectations” label can applied to many sequels, like The Matrix movies – although they were still pretty awesome.

Between your sequel-happy trigger-fingers and the fact that only a few months can go by before yet another comicbook is announced as being adapted into a film, it would seem that you have lost your stride.  Yes, District 9 came out recently, but guess what?  You didn’t support the script, and Peter Jackson had to step in to help raise independent financing – good move.  Gamer was an original script, sure, but it also wasn’t the best movie you’ve ever produced.  Going down the release roster for the last few years doesn’t produce too many original or creative gems of genius either.

It’s time for you to bring back the creativity.  The Matrix, Star Wars, The Boondock Saints, and the rest of your biggest successes (both financially and those with cult status) have typically been original works of creation, not adaptations – The Dark Knight is an outlier, as The Watchmen so deftly proved.  Choosing a screenplay for production, or even an idea, should be based on its actual strengths and weaknesses, rather than whether it’s associated with previously successful movies, toy franchises, or highly successful graphic novels.

Don’t stop the sequels and adaptations, though – just make sure they’re warranted.

Megan Fox might be many things (such as freaky-thumbed, immature, and topless), but she’s also brave. Incredibly brave.

This weekend, Fox will be dipping her celebrity toe in the disgusting, polluted waters of Xbox Live, mingling with the various racists / homophobes / insecure, horny teens that appear everywhere on Microsoft’s online gaming service.

Obviously, she’s doing this for a massive pile of cash. Also, she’ll only be playing one specific title, the multi-coloned Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: The Game. Is that game even worth playing? Not really. Will this news still result in half a million horny fanboys snapping up a copy for the weekend? Uh, yes. Some canny marketing there, Activision.

So there you go: if you’ve ever wanted to trade “Yo Mama” jokes with Megan Fox, she’ll be on Xbox Live this Sunday at 3:00 Pacific, using the Gamertag “Megan Fox 2009.” Let’s all behave ourselves, okay? Maybe then we can maintain Xbox Live’s reputation as a friendly, welcoming community, full of well-mannere – haha, I’m sorry, I couldn’t finish that sentence.

Director Michael Bay has taken Megan Fox down a peg over her suggestion that his movies don’t offer acting opportunities.

“Well, that’s Megan Fox for you. She says some very ridiculous things because she’s 23 years old and she still has a lot of growing to do. You roll your eyes when you see statements like that and think, ‘Okay Megan, you can do whatever you want. I got it,’” Bay said in an interview this week.

“I 100% disagree with her. Nick Cage wasn’t a big actor when I cast him, nor was Ben Affleck before I put him in Armageddon. Shia LaBeouf wasn’t a big movie star before he did Transformers — and then he exploded. Not to mention Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, from Bad Boys. Nobody in the world knew about Megan Fox until I found her and put her in Transformers. I like to think that I’ve had some luck in building actors’ careers with my films.”

No word yet as to whether Megan Fox will be returning for Transformers 3

The sequel in the Transformers series, “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”, came out Tuesday night in select showings, and will debut tonight more widely, so the reviews have been pouring in for the last few days.  Not surprisingly, it made $16m in its first, and single, showing – with all sorts of big numbers and records already coming in or expected.  Surprisingly, the critics not only hate it, but feel the need to badmouth every aspect of the movie.

Go through a list of some big name critics and their reviews:  Roger Ebert (Sun-Times), Mary Pols (TIME), David Edelstein (NY Mag), Jeffery Anderson (Combustible Celluloid), Devin Faraci (CHUD), Maryann Johanson (FlickFilosopher), Garth Franklin (Dark Horizons), Marshall Fine (Hollywood and Fine Reviews).  Then take a look at the Rotten Tomatoes page.  If you have a Netflix account, scroll through its user reviews.  Notice a trend?

How can a movie that’s likely going to be the biggest box office all summer get such horrible reviews?

The answer is simple:  critics don’t understand the movie.  Most of the movie critic audience is either too old or too snobbish cultured to be seen enjoying purely action movies, let alone giving them decent reviews – so their kneejerk reaction is to not just give it a horrible review, but to concoct a vitriolic spew that they hope will scare people from seeing the movie.  Take Roger Ebert as an example:

“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” is a horrible experience of unbearable length, briefly punctuated by three or four amusing moments. One of these involves a dog-like robot humping the leg of the heroine. Such are the meager joys. If you want to save yourself the ticket price, go into the kitchen, cue up a male choir singing the music of hell, and get a kid to start banging pots and pans together. Then close your eyes and use your imagination.

That’s just the introduction paragraph, but the rest of the hilariously high class review follows suit – and he’s the most tame of the angry-mob reviewers.  All of them use lots of unnecessary adjectives and adverbs to explain how they feel about this movie, as if they have an infatuation with appearing ridiculous and over-the-top… isn’t that what they’re criticizing Michael Bay of?

You don’t go to a Michael Bay movie expecting an indie art movie.  You don’t even go expecting something that’s intelligent or a social commentary – you expect big explosions, lots of action, and enough of a plot to explain all the awesomeness in between.  The first Transformers movie was as unadulterated of a “guy movie” as it gets, so why should the sequel be any different?

The audiences seem to know and expect this, or perhaps even love it.  Anyone that pays to see this movie should know what they’re getting themselves into, and be mentally prepared for it – if not, they shouldn’t be sitting in the theater.  Even Bay himself will explain that his movies are about explosions and action, not thoughtful, plodding pieces on love or other issues.

Another major criticism is the heavy-handed use of computer effects, which, again, makes no sense.  The critics seem to think that a movie about giant robots fighting each other can happen without the use of special effects and camera trickery, which is in itself an interesting problem – I’d love to see a non-CG rendition of Transformers.  Maybe they’ll use sockpuppets?

Movies exist as a way to escape from reality, and momentarily believe in something more exciting than everyday life.  The Matrix wasn’t a perfect movie (as much as I adore it), and had heavy use of special effects, but didn’t get bad reviews.  Perhaps the difference is that the critics refuse to understand movies can sometimes just be movies – no deep meanings or philosophical questions, just an excuse to watch 144 minutes of explosions, attractive women, and fighting robots.

I can’t wait to see reviews for G.I. Joe… the critics are intent on destroying all of my childhood fantasies.

I’m sure somewhere someone is counting down the last seven days until this movie hits the theaters (I’m not) but in the meantime Michael Bay, the main man behind the movie, has let loose some facts and figures about the movie to tide us you over.

First off the important stuff – the Robots

With all that CGI work the amount of disk space used must have been massive

• TF1 took 20 Terabytes of disk space. Trans2 took 145 Terabytes. Seven times bigger!
• 145 terabytes would fill 35,000 DVDs. Stacked one on top of the other without storage cases, they would be 145 feet tall.

Tying it altogether of course is the rendering time needed

• If you rendered the entire movie on a modern home PC, you would have had to start the renders 16,000 years ago (when cave paintings like the Hall of Bulls were being made) to finish for this year’s premiere!
• A single imax shot in the movie (df250) would have taken almost 3 years to render on a top of the line home PC running nonstop.
• IMAX frame render times: As high as 72 hours per frame!

A new trailer has been release for the Transformers sequel: Transformers Revenge of the Fallen.

Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) discovers something about the origins of the Transformers and their history on Earth, and the Deceptacons want it. The movie starts with Witwicky going to College, and concludes at the Pyramids in Egypt.

The new trailer includes one notable scene that focuses primarily on Megan Fox’s ass, for no purpose really other than to look at it. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is due out in July 2009.
