The Top Gear test track is probably more widely known than some Formula One tracks, but perhaps that’s to be expected when it appears on every episode of the BBC’s universally popular Top Gear show.

That fame has won it the ultimate accolade, at least in gaming terms: an appearance in the Gran Turismo series, a driving sim franchise that remains one of the most well-regarded, despite recent tough competition. The Top Gear track will be playable in the PlayStation 3′s Gran Turismo 5, due out … er … some time soon, promise.

The video below is the first footage we’ve seen and although it’s only taken off-screen, GT5‘s striking, near-photorealistic visuals still shine through. Long-time viewers of the show will be able to recognize many famous parts of the circuit that has heaped humiliation and glory on minor celebrities – including the hammerhead, the follow-through, and Gambon.

James May and 1,000 helpers has just built the world’s first full-size Lego house using 3,3 million Lego bricks. It even comes with a shower, working toilet, toaster, kitchen utensils and a bed.

The 20-ft tall house is built in Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking, Surrey, UK, but now the vineyard needs the land back to harvest its grapes. If the house isn’t removed by Tuesday at 8.00 AM, it will be hacked into bits with chainsaws.

According to James May, Legoland UK was supposed to take it to the theme park in Berkshire, but its too expensive to move. Legoland has critized James May, because he hasn’t consulted their model-makers on, how to built a moveable house.

Lego has donated the bricks to James May, so the house or bricks cannot be sold or used as a public attraction, but only given away for charity.

Well, at least for a weekend.

James May, one of the three dudes on Top Gear, is branching out from silly car tricks to silly house tricks on his show James May’s Toy Stories. The project is already underway, with a metric frickload (roughly 3 million) of the colorful plastic bricks waiting for construction to start at the site in Dorking, Surrey.

May has invited “the general public” to assist in building the structure, and is soliciting donations to ensure that there are enough bricks available to complete the house. The plan is to include a full size working shower, toilet and staircase as the house will be two stories high. He discussed potential snags in the Lego-house concept with the BBC:

“I’ve got a man working on a flushing Lego lavatory. We think it’s possible.

“Things like power supply, sanitation and plumbing coming into the house are as they could be for a real building… everything within my Lego house must as far as possible be Lego,” he said.

After the Lego house is complete, May plans to build a full scale racetrack out of Scaletrix. Who doesn’t want to grow up to be this lucky bastard?

Captain Slow James May headed to the US to meet with Rally Car driver Ken Block, and the result is perhaps one of the most amazing and at times insane car footage you’ll ever see. The picture above with the plane and bike wasn’t doctored…they actually managed to pull that off.

The identity of Top Gear’s tame racing driver is claimed to be F1 great Michael Schumacher, at least if you believe the first episode of Series 13 that aired in the UK over the weekend.

Speculation over the identity of the “White Stig” has been ongoing since the original “Black Stig” outed himself at the end of the second series. The UK media reported in January that The Stig was Ben Collins.

Given that the show, and particularly Jeremy Clarkson have previously stated that they would never reveal the identity of The Stig, the revelation of his identity is circumspect at best. That it could be Michael Schumacher isn’t impossible given he retired from F1 in 2006, but that would also mean that there has been two white stigs as well, because it would have been impossible for Schumacher to have played the role while he was still professionally racing.

Despite being on of the most popular (and presumably profitable) globally syndicated shows in UK history, Top Gear has been told to cut back on super cars this year due to the great recession.

Hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May have been ordered to downsize because of BBC spending cuts, and to reflect the changing interests of viewers who can no longer afford luxury vehicles.

The Daily Star reports that plans to feature the likes of a Lamborghini, Ferrari and a Porsche have been axed, and will likely be replaced by segments showing smaller, cheaper and greener cars.

Clarkson had previously vowed to ignore the cuts, and in previous series has mocked suggestions that the show cut back on super cars by featuring more super cars.
