The baby Jonas is about to become a baby daddy. Nick Jonas has landed a guest role on ABC’s “Last Man Standing” playing the absentee father of Mike Baxter’s grandson.

Tim Allen’s grandson on the show is currently being raised solely by his daughter. The absentee father has been the butt of a lot of jokes on the show, but we’ve never met the deadbeat dad. Jonas will step into the role in a few weeks for “Last Man Standing’s” Christmas special.

According to ET Online, “Last Man Standing” brought in more than 5 million viewers during its debut episode and it has already been secured for a full season. The show also received poor reviews and critics have called the show everything from misogynistic to homophobic.

There’s no arguing that the show isn’t cheesy, so it will be interesting to see how they handle the sensitive subject of being a teenage mom.

Tim Allen’s daughter, Kristen (played by Alexandra Krosney) was introduced on the show as a struggling single teenage mother. The show has never really explained her situation, beside the fact that she works as a waitress and lives at home. Jonas will supposedly be playing an unemployed man with nothing really going on for him.

Jonas’ last TV role came on the short-lived “Mr. Sunshine,” where he played a thinly veiled version of himself.

Tim Allen’s new ABC sitcom Last Man Standing was a big hit with audiences last night while debuting with an average of 13 million viewers over the shows two episodes which aired from 8 PM to 9PM. The show was ABC’s biggest 8 PM comedy series debut since 2004.

While the show debuted to great numbers critics have panned the show for it’s predictability and stale setup. According to Slate the show is “Very probably the worst sitcom on network television” while Hitfix.com called the show “groan worthy” and The Washington Post says the series is “homophobic, xenophobic and generally just phobic.”

It could simply be that critics don’t like the fact that Tim Allen basically recreated Home Improvement. Tim’s character Mike is a super-macho sporting-goods store worker who decides to spend more time with his family (replace the sons on Home Improvement with daughters) while grunting about being a man.

While the show has not received the type of reviews ABC would have liked the The Hollywood Reporter did praise Tim Allen by announcing:

“It would be a trillion times worse without Allen’s veteran presence and ability to sell comedy.”

Allen, most remembered for his role as Tim “The Tool-Man” Taylor in the hit 90′s show Home Improvement, will once again be playing an all around “man’s man” in the new series.

EW describes LMS as “a multi-camera comedy about the manly head of marketing for an outdoor store in Colorado who’s raising three outgoing — and very lippy — daughters with wife Vanessa (Nancy Travis).”

“Mostly, it’s my comedy. It’s based on ‘I don’t get ‘em.’ I do all of my jokes about women: love women, admire women, frightened of women, dislike women. I just so love women and then sometimes you just have no clue,” Allen, 58, told USA Today in a recent interview. “Being a champion for three boys in Home Improvement was one thing, but being the champion for three daughters is another.”

Be sure to tune into ABC tonight (or set your DVR’s to record) at 8pm for the premiere episode of Last Man Standing.

Tim Allen and his wife Jane Hajduk have confirmed that they are expecting their first child together.

This will be the former Home Improvement star’s second attempt at parenthood as he has a teenage daughter calld Katherine from a previous marriage.

“Tim and Jane are ecstatic about the upcoming birth of their first child together,” the actor’s rep said.

The baby is apparently due in spring. Apparently there is only one baby, which runs counter to the current Hollyood fashion trend of multiple births.

Tim Allen and Jane Hajduk were married in October 2006 and neither of them are spring chickens, Allen s 55 and Jane is 42.
