I have been using Chrome since the first day that the beta made its way to the web and I haven’t regretted it at all. In fact I wouldn’t want to use any other browser so it was nice to see that a new finalized version for this great browser has been released.

Among some of the stats that Google has provided with this release

• They’ve improved the Javascript performance by more than 150% since the first beta was released (very nice)
• Since Chrome 2 they’ve increased the Javascript performance by 25% (even nicer)
• There has been over 3,000 bugfixes in this release ( thank you !)

But most importantly for some is the theme support that is finally built-in to this release of Chrome. Once you’ve updated to the new version just click on the Options menu item and then select the Personal Stuff tab. At the bottom you will see the button to click to have Chrome display the Themes page.

As you can see there are some 29 themes currently available, including the original Chrome theme. Installing one of the themes is a simple as clicking on the Apply theme button and you are done. Myself I went with the Glossy Blue theme.

One of the other changes I’ve just noticed as well is that the layout for the New Tab page has changed as well.

I just got an email from the folks at Friendfeed letting me know that users can now select one of the six available themes to change the background and colors of their pages.Besides the classic look you can select from

• Fresh
• Bamboo
• Flowers
• Butterfly Corner
• Helvetica
• Blue Wave.

To change to one of the new themes just select the Settings link under your Profile name to display the default Settings dialog (above picture). Once there you’ll see the new Themes link that when selected will load up the new Themes page with the list of currently available themes.

Changing your theme is a simple as clicking on the one you want – in my case I tried out the Blue Wave theme.

While this might not be an earth shattering addition to Friendfeed I am sure it will be a big hit and spawn many discussions this evening on the service as the news of the new option makes the rounds.

It doesn’t matter where you turn the past couple of days since Michael Jackson’s death without finding something relating to him showing up.

For those of you who happen to have a Blackberry 9000 you can now download a free Jackson theme created by a fan. The theme shows off Jackson in some of his classic dance poses. You can grab it via this over the air download link. In the meantime here’s some shots of the theme for those of you not so lucky to own a Blackberry.
