Meryl Streep gave an interview on the hit show The View, and in it she made a startling admission.  While she was a guest at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue she managed to boost some White House Napkins. “I stole the White House Napkins” Politico quoted her as saying.

The Academy Award winning actress was on the View to promote her new film Iron Lady, where Streep electrifies in her portrayal of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

Interestingly enough, Streep revealed to the British Newspaper The Mirror that she almost turned down the role due to her strong disagreement with the policies that Thatcher promoted.  “I was not thrilled with her policies or her politics because my friends and I were all playing for the other team,” Meryl revealed.

Despite their political differences There were some of the Iron Lady’s attributes that she respected.

“She was head of the United Kingdom for eleven and a half years and did not have a cook,” she says in amazement. “I have a cook. The last movie I made when I stopped making dinner was Sophie’s Choice and that was a long time ago.”

Bill Maher and Elisabeth Hasselbeck just can’t get enough of each other. After Maher slung an insult in Hasselbeck’s direction last February, the feud has been on between the two talk show hosts. Maher and Hasselbeck got into it again today on “The View.”

Nine months ago, Bill Maher said:

“New rule: now that Hosni Mubarak has released Lara Logan, he must put her intrepid hotness on a plane immediately. In exchange, we will send Elisabeth Hasselbeck.”

Radaronline.com reports that when the clip aired on “The View,” Hasselbeck said:

“I try to only debate real men over the airways but will depart to address Billy Maher.”

But it didn’t end there. When Maher appeared on “The View” today, nearly nine months after the exchange, Hasselbeck immediately brought up the Lara Logan comment.

Hasselbeck said:

“I just wanted to go back to a time that bothered me, not for my personal reasons but for women… In February of last year, Lara Logan was in Egypt and she was brutally attacked there… You can’t sit here right now and tell me I’m wrong for saying, ‘That wasn’t that funny.’”

Maher tried to explain that he was a comedian and that he meant nothing personal. Maher said:

“We do a comedy show for an audience that’s perhaps different than your audience. You’re a public figure. My comment was not aimed at you personally. But when you are a public figure, you are out there and your fodder for comedians to make comments on.”

The other girls on “The View” seemed to side with Maher. Joy Behar said that people have to understand that comedians will occasionally offend some people, and Barbara Walters kept trying to get Hasselbeck to drop the issue.

When the offensively-named camp came up in discussion during a recent candidates’ debate, fellow Republican candidate Herman Cain used the word in describing the location, though other candidates were not as comfortable calling the ranch by its iffy moniker. Of her feelings in using the word, Walters said:

“It’s very hard for me to say… It gives me chills.”

Shepherd then discussed the different way she felt hearing co-host Whoopi Goldberg use the word as opposed to when Walters used it. Shepherd clarified:

“When I heard [Whoopi] say it, it was fine… I didn’t like the way [Barbara] said it… I don’t know if it’s a semantics thing, but it’s something that goes through my body.”

Walters questioned:

“Is it because I’m white?”

Shepherd then said:

“It’s something about hearing you say it… I don’t like it when you use the word… when you say it it’s a different connotation.”

Walters then pressed:

“If I’m reporting on this, you mean I can’t use the word?”

To which Shepherd dodged:

“You can do anything you want! You’re Barbara Walters!”

Walters quite reasonably pointed out that the statement was a little passive aggressive and unfair on Shepherd’s part:

“I’m sorry, that has nothing to do with it, Sherri… I never knew you felt this way and I find it just amazing.”

Shepherd also told Walters that the veteran newswoman can’t “take away” how Shepherd feels when white people use the slur, even in the context of a news broadcast. Should the word be stricken even from the news? Was Shepherd fair to Barbara Walters?

Danny DeVito stopped in for an appearance on The View on Tuesday and he had an important message for newly married couples “Bang A Lot.”

Hosts Sherri Shepherd and Joy Behar were both married over the Summer and DeVito decided to grace them with his wisdom.

“The thing is, you’ve gotta f*** a lot. Bang a lot, do a lot, get a lot of banging going on … just do it … do it in the road, do it on the floor, do it in the bathroom,” he said.

He couldn’t end it there though, choosing to add, “There are other things you can do, too. You can do sex all different kinds of ways.”

As if that wasn’t enough to scar 99.99% of The View’s audience he then said:

“The up way, the down way, the front way, the back way, inside out way,” while warning “You’ve gotta use a lot of oil though.”

The moment I saw this clip the first image that came to mind was DeVito and wife of 30-years Rhea Perlman getting it on in the “inside out way” thankfully I’m not really sure what that actually means.

If nothing else I’m sure Danny DeVito managed to scar the women of The View for life.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Michael Moore locked horns on Wednesday’s episode of The View, engaging in an entertainingly heated debate over the killing of Osama bin Laden.

Things kicked off when film-maker Moore argued that bin Laden should have been put on trial by the U.S., pointing out that “we did a very smart thing putting the Nazis on trial.” Hasselbeck returned fire, pointing out that the Nazis were tried in peace time, while the U.S. was “still at war.”

“No, we’re not, actually,” replied Moore. “(We are) spending ‘billions’ of dollars of our money on something that has nothing to do with a real threat. The way we show the world that we’re different that we give even the most heinous person their day in court. If we start to say that we’re afraid to hold trials because terrorists might hurt us, we look like a bunch of wussies.”

Hasselbeck seemed genuinely angry at this point, snapping back with, “You’re telling me Osama bin Laden & deserves a trial, but where, in New York City at the site of the slaughter of our own 3,000 on 9/11? Absolutely not. How dare …”

Afterwards, Hasselbeck Tweeted that the two had “passionately agreed to disagree,” and they would grab lunch together. You can check out a video of the full debate below.

While I don’t agree with all of his views, I’d have to side with Moore here: giving even the most despicable individuals their day in court (and no, not “in New York City at the site of the slaughter” as Hasselbeck emotionally screeches) is the sign of a mature, confident nation that believes in sticking to its core values. As our own Michael Söze reported earlier today Sherri Shepherd wed Lamar Sally over the weekend and while the Chicago ceremony at the Fairmont Hotel was a private event, it’s being reported that some specific women who should have been there did not attend, those ladies are Shepherd’s The View co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Walters and Joy Behar.

According to one wedding insider:

 ”I assumed that they would be there as did all of the wedding party and guests, or they should have at least sent a video of congratulations as well as expressing why they regret they could not attend or to show they were at least there for Sal & Sherry in spirit.”

At least two of the shows hosts Whoopi and Barbara were only a few hours away in New York at the time of the wedding, leading to some speculation that they simple didn’t support their fellow co-host.

While the ladies of the view were not in attendance there were still plenty of celebrity pals supporting their nuptials including Elisabeth Hasslebeck and husband Tim Hasselbeck, Jay Tucker, Yvette Nicole Brown and comedian Kym Whitley among others.

According to the Sun Times:

The eatery [P.F. Changs] presented them with a special red velvet cake, the bride’s favorite. One of Sherri’s adoring fans happened to be celebrating her birthday at the eatery, and Sherri graciously took pictures and the fan told her how “skinny she looked.” Local music retailer George Daniels was among the many wedding guests and was seen dancing with Hasselbeck at the reception. (Were they steppin’?)

There’s always drama between ladies of The View but who knows, perhaps they simply couldn’t make it this time around.

First, Joy Behar married Steve Janowitz, her long-time boyfriend of 29 years, in a private Manhattan ceremony on Thursday night.

Then, just two days later, Behar’s co-host Sherri Shepherd tied the knot at the Fairmont Hotel in Chicago, marrying TV writer, Lamar ‘Sal’ Sally.

In stark contrast to the Behar-Janowitz nuptials, Shepherd’s wedding featured eight bridesmaids including celebrity friends and co-workers Elisabeth Hasselback, Yvette Nicole Brown, Kym Whitley, and Niecy Nash.

When it came time to walk down the aisle, Shepherd was accompanied by her six-year-old son Jeffery, a move that had more than one meaning.

“I want Lamar to know that when my son walks me down the aisle, you’re not only getting me, but you’re getting this little boy,” Sherri explained to People magazine earlier this year. “He’s going to give me away because it’s symbolic that he’s giving me away for this man to protect me and protect him.”

Sherri and Lamar got engaged last December when he presented her with a three carat princess cut diamond, following their courtship of nearly a year.

Donald Trump has been throwing shapes all over the place about running for president in 2012, and he certainly knows to whom he needs to market himself.

Trump has made a big deal in press appearances lately regarding the questions he has for Barack Obama about the veracity of his birth certificate. Although Obama’s citizenship has been proven via a birth certificate released in 2008 that looks exactly like mine- and I am as American as deep fried Apple Pie Zingers served off the muzzle of a red white and blue gun- the president’s many critics demand to see something called a “long form” birth certificate. (Which I can only imagine is the same information but with a full-color photograph of the future president crowning against the backdrop of an American flag.)

Seriously, this is about the worst argument about someone’s presidential chops since Teddy Roosevelt spared the baby bear from being hunted. But people like Trump press onward, and he had it out with Obama supporter Whoopi Goldberg on today’s episode of the view. Trump claimed and demanded:

“I want him to show his birth certificate… There is something on that birth certificate that he doesn’t like.”

Goldberg fired back:

“It’s the biggest pile of dog mess I’ve heard in ages… It’s not because he’s black, is it? I’ve never heard of any white president who had to show his birth certificate. That’s BS!”

At the very least, people like Trump need to disabuse themselves of the idea that any measure of proof would suffice, and accept that no matter what Barack Obama says or proves, they’ll never “accept” him as president- like if the “long form” document showed up, they’d be all, “dude, my bad! Carry on, and excellent job!”

An argument about the “Ground Zero mosque” between the ladies of The View and Fox News pundit Bill O’Reilly culminated in a dramatic in-segment walk off by hosts Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg.

In the clip below, you can see Behar and Goldberg stalk away after O’Reilly repeatedly, incredulously asks if they’re suggesting that “Muslims didn’t kill us” on September 11th:

A Virginia lawyer said she had to laugh when she heard that Real Housewives of DC fameball Michaele Salahi is accusing Whoopi Goldberg of “assaulting” her after an appearance on The View.

Cynthia Revesman told RadarOnline that not only did Salahi accuse her of the same type of incident- hysterically claiming an assault after Revesman touched Salahi’s arm- the infamous White House gate crasher even filed a police report for the January 2009 incident. The lawyer described the chain of events, and if you read the Whoopi story, it sounds pretty familiar:

Revesman said she was in court acting on behalf of a client, who was suing the Salahi’s for an unpaid bill, when she turned to Michaele and her “finger touched her arm”.

“Michaele then begin screaming “stop hitting me” and she turned the to bailiffs and she said “make sure she doesn’t hit me again”,” recalled Revesman.

“My client was standing right next to me and I said, ‘What are you talking about?’ and she responded, ‘You just hit me’.

“I said, ‘No I didn’t, I don’t understand what’s going on here.’ The bailiffs were all looking at me throwing their hands up in the air.”

Revesman says she’s not surprised the Salahis are pulling the same lame con on Goldberg, and points out a legal benefit for the debt-laden, status-climbing couple:

“What they do is they take the assault charge and go after the opposing council in the other side; they want you to barter their criminal process with a civil process going on.  That is their whole m.o (modus operandi).”

The Salahis’ case against Revesman was thrown out by a judge in April of 2009.

Michelle Salahi, one half of the fameball couple who lied their way into a White House event after they discovered they had not been invited, is elbowing her way back into the spotlight with a new claim that Whoopi Goldberg behaved unprofessionally and aggressively toward her following an appearance on daytime chat show The View.

Not surprisingly, Salahi and Goldberg differ on what transpired backstage after Salahi appeared with the four other Real Housewives of DC. Salahi clams Goldberg struck her, while Goldberg merely admits to verbally eviscerating the reality show participant:

After the taping, Salahi was crying backstage and, according to ABC, told a producer that Goldberg “hit” her. Salahi maintains that she merely said that she was upset that Goldberg had come up behind her on the air and “grabbed” her arm… Both sides agree that the exchange that followed was heated: Goldberg went into Salahi’s dressing room and had an angry confrontation with the “Housewives” cast member and her husband. “Her husband got in my face, had his BlackBerry out and started taking pictures of me,” Goldberg said on Thursday. “And needless to say, I really went off then. And there was even more choicer words. I mean, they were so choice, you could have cut them with a knife and eaten them.”

Most boring feud ever? Salahi’s Real Housewives of DC castmates seem to think so. Does there come a point when you realize that if people who appear on Real Housewives of programs accuse you of attention whoring, perhaps you’ve got a problem? Isn’t that akin to Dick Cheney calling you diabolical or Tiger Woods suggesting you lay off the porn star ass?

Salahi’s co-stars appeared on Today alongside her, but still huffed:

This is a show about five people,” said Mary Schmidt Amons. “We’re so finished with it.”

Lynda Erkiletian, the one cast member who was friends with Salahi before the show, said she no longer trusted Michaele and Tariq: “They live a phony fake Bonnie-and-Clyde life.”

After the uproar last week following Perez Hilton tweeting a pic of Miley Cyrus in what may or may not have been a crotch revealing pose, the drama queeniest gossip blogger has done it again. Oops!

Perez explained on The View that he didn’t feel the image of a still 17-year-old Miley was illegal because he was not posting it for the sexual gratification of others. The internet wept in joy at his almost certain impending downfall, but the Cyruses decided not to press charges. Said Perez:

“I didn’t pick it for her to look like she wasn’t wearing underwear. The point of me choosing that one photo is because it was showing Miley getting out of the car in an unladylike fashion. And I just thought that was funny and in keeping with her shocking behavior of late, because she was very well aware that she was in a public place at a — at a video shoot and that there were paparazzi present.”

He also told the ladies of The View that he would happily tweet another picture of the pop-tart’s hoo-ha:

“I don’t regret what I did and I would do the same thing again … It’s not actually doing anything worse than Miley herself has been doing recently, from grinding up on her 40-something-year-old director to pole dancing to all the over-sexualized things that she has been doing and turning herself into this creature.”

And he did. So either he feels totally assured he’s not going to spend a stint in a PMITA prison, or he’s a total moron. The pic itself isn’t pornographic per se, but it would certainly give a blogger quaking in their pleather boots a second thought about jail. So Perez- really stupid, really really brave or does he have a really good lawyer? Perhaps a bit from each column?

Troubled actress Mischa Baron appeared on The View Friday and managed to deliver an interview that only confirmed the train wreck rumors.

Mischa described her hospitalization as “silly” and insists the whole thing was “blown out of proportion.” When Barbara Walters pointed out she was in the psych ward Mischa blamed dental work.

“Right, I mean, it was just … I was overwhelmed,” Mischa said. “I had too much work going on. I had a surgery for my wisdom teeth that went really badly. I had been in the hospital. I had two surgeries on my wisdom teeth. I had four taken out and they had gotten it really badly wrong. They had to drill into my jaw and I was just in really excruciating pain.”

“I had an infection and a dry socket and I woke up on a Sunday morning and there was no doctor available,” she continued. “I was trying to take the minimum amount of pain killers and get through it because I had to go to work soon and I was getting ready to go do this show, ‘The Beautiful Life,’ and meanwhile I still had a schedule to travel. I was going to Europe. I was going to London. I had things to do and I was prepping to do photo shoots and I was just overwhelmed. I had so much work to do and the surgery had gone so badly for me. And I think that I was just starting to feel completely overwhelmed. It was just too much to have this surgery go so wrong.”

The View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck is being sued by a woman who is claiming she plagiarized her book about celiac disease.

Susan Hasset claims that Hasselbeck’s new book “The G-Free Diet: A Gluten-Free Survival Guide” infringed on her copyrights for her own book “Living With Celiac Disease.” Hasset claims she sent Hasselbeck a copy of her book in April of last year. Hasselbeck suffers from Celiac disease, an autoimmune disorder linked to gluten proteins in wheat, barley and rye.

A spokesman for Hasselbeck said that the claims are unfounded and that the suit would be vigorously defended.

Fresh from their roasting this morning in “Al Roker vs Speidi,” Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt decided to go for a second round on daytime talk show The View.

The View ladies were a little bit kinder to Speidi, but mostly to allow the pair to keep on talking, because ultimately they couldn’t match it when it came to talking complete rubbish.

Asked if they thought they were the most famous celebrities on the planet, Spencer replied, “Obama is tied with Speidi right now. If we lived in the White House, maybe we’d be number one.” But because one Obama reference wasn’t enough, Spencer that he didn’t belong on I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, because the other people on the show weren’t real celebrities, and outside of President Obama and Jesus Christ, he’s the biggest celebrity around.

Heidi though wasn’t quiet, telling the ladies that her decision to appear in Playboy made her a “modern” version of Mother Teresa.

Fox News’ wunderkid Glenn Beck appeared on The View today and without any great surprise managed to get the mostly liberal hosts fired up.

The highlight (or lowlight) of Beck’s appearance came in a dispute about a train trip. Beck claimed on radio recently that he had been pushed aside by Amtrak employees catering for Barbara Walters and Whoopi Goldberg, which both claim isn’t true. But there’s disagreeing, and then there’s disagreeing with Whoopi, who called Beck a “lying sack of dog mess.”

I’m no Beck fan, but seriously, an argument about a train trip? Surely there was more important things they could have discussed with Beck. Here’s the Glen Beck on The View video.

Disgraced Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich hit the talk shows today just as the hearing to impeach him started in Chicago.

Along with an appearance on the Today Show, where he claimed among other things that he considered appointing Oprah to Barack Obama’s vacant Senate seat, he appeared on The View to protest his innocence.
