Taylor Swift Wins Two Grammy Awards, Gets Revenge On “Mean” Guy

Taylor Swift is still on a role, taking home two Grammy’s on Sunday for best country song and best country solo performance on the heals of her hit song Mean.Accepting her top prizes the singer said:

“There’s really no feeling quite like writing a song about someone who’s completely mean to you and completely hates you, and then winning a Grammy for it.”

Swift was also nominated for best country album for her hit album Speak Now.

Joking with those in attendance Swift went so far as to thank all her fans who clapped for her victory, a move the Washington Post seems to think was a subtle a reference to her MTV VMA’s debacle when Kanye West during the 2009 MTV Awards show. During that acceptance speech Kanye West took the mic from her and said ”Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ll let you finish, but Beyoncé has one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!”

Taylor’s awards were picked up as part of the show’s pre-television section of the awards event.

Taylor Swift wasn’t the only female taking home two big awards early on in the night Adele won Best Short Form Music Video for ‘Rolling in the Deep’ and Best Pop Vocal Album for her breakthrough album 21.

A while back sources from camp Taylor Swift revealed that her next album is filled with love songs about ex-beau Jake Gyllenhaal. Well now, it seems as though the singer has a little more heartache to sing about.

According to US Weekly the singer was getting serious with “Les Miserables” star Eddie Redmayne, who has turned heads as Corey Clark in the Weinstein drama “One Week With Marilyn” starring Michelle Williams. Apparently that fleeting romance is now over.

The two met during work and a source has said that the two“hung out in New York City with the movie’s execs, and Taylor developed feelings for him fast.” – “Taylor loved the image of a British boyfriend,” the insider adds.

A source adds that Eddie Redmayne liked Swift as well, but when she wasn’t cast as Eponine in “Les Miserables” the romance quickly came to a hault due to the time constraints on Redmayne filming in London. “Eddie’s not interesting in a long-distance relationship. The elements were against them. It’s a shame,” the source says.

Samantha Barks Replaces Taylor Swift in Les Miserables [Video]

Samantha Barks will be stepping into the shoes of Eponine in the film version of “Les Miserables” instead of country singer Taylor Swift.

Barks will bring plenty of experience to the part as she has already played Eponine in the 25th anniversary concert of Les Miserables.

Broadway World reports that the announcement was made at the Manchester Palace where Barks is currently playing Nancy in “Oliver!”

Soon after the announcement, Barks tweeted: ”Most incredible moment of my life!!!! X”

Taylor Swift was originally linked to the part but it looks like Barks now has the role.

Barks will be making her film debut in Tom Hooper’s “Les Miserables.” She joins an all-star cast that already includes Amanda Seyfried, Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, and Russel Crow.

Barks started her stage career by taking third in the BBC’s “I’d Do Anything.” From there she’s taken on the role as Nancy in “Oliver!” Eponine in the West End production of “Les Miserables,” Sally Bowles in the national tour of “Cabaret,” and Aladdin in “Aladdin.” Barks also played Zoe in the Disney TV series “Groove High.”

The singer who has known to make a pretty penny penning songs about her exes (including Joe Jonas and Taylor Lautner). For those of you who thought Jake Gyllenhaal with escape a song from ex-girlfriend Swift, think again.

In the latest issue of Vogue Swift admits the material on her latest upcoming album is about a love that was “earth-shattering, not recent, but absolute crash-and-burn heartbreak,”

Sources tell US Weekly that Swift fans shouldn’t look any further then her beau of three months, Jake Gyllenhaal, 31, who broke up with the singer shortly after their infamous Thanksgiving holiday outing. “She’s haunted by that relationship,” the source said. “[He] totally screwed with her mind.”

Can’t wait to hear this inevitable Top 40 charter.

Taylor Swift Talks About Her Relationship “Red Flags”

It is time to add another first for Country Mega Star Taylor Swift. She is the first country singer to be on the cover of Vogue Magazine. In addition to winning every award under the sun, selling out every stadium she touched for the last few years and watching her albums skyrocket to the top of every chart, the 22 year old bombshell talk relationships in her vogue magazine interview.

“The only way that I can feel better about myself — pull myself out of that awful pain of losing someone — is writing songs about it to get some sort of clarity.”

Taylor talks in the interview about how she is not really interested in dating right now because her life is so amazing she doesn’t want to mess it up. She also talks about the lessons she learned the hard way and what her flags are now. She opens up about her four relationship “Red Flags” and how the next romeo can sweep her off her feet (or at least not get himself kicked to the curb).

1. “If someone doesn’t seem to want to get to know me as a person but instead seems to have kind of bought into the whole idea of me and he approves of my Wikipedia page? And falls in love based on zero hours spent with me? That’s maybe something to be aware of. That will fade fast. You can’t be in love with a Google search.”

2. “If a dude is threatened by the fact that I need security, if they make me feel like I am some sort of princessy diva — that’s a bad sign. I don’t have security to make myself look cool, or like I have an entourage. I have security because there’s a file of stalkers who want to take me home and chain me to a pipe in their basement.”

3. “If you need to put me down a lot in order to level the playing field or something? If you are threatened by some part of what I do and want to cut me down to size in order to make it even? That won’t work either.”

4. “Also, I can’t deal with someone who’s obsessed with privacy. People kind of care if there are two famous people dating. But no one cares that much. If you care about privacy to the point where we need to dig a tunnel under this restaurant so that we can leave? I can’t do that.”

It’s often been said that if you cull a bunch of random teenage girls’ Facebook status updates, you will eventually have a Taylor Swift song.

Indeed, the quasi-country singer has a talent for narrating the souls of tweens, but Swift says recent experiences have schooled her in what makes a relationship worth pursuing. And perhaps not unintentionally trying to evoke Adele and her recent success with a break-up album, Swift says that a broken heart and the subsequent pain-processing was behind her most recent efforts in the studio.

The bubbly blonde sat down with Vogue to discuss what she had learned and what motivated her to write the album, citing a relationship that seems to have done a number on her. Swift explains:

“There’s just been this earth-shattering, not recent, but absolute crash-and-burn heartbreak. And that will turn out to be what the next album is about. The only way that I can feel better about myself- pull myself out of that awful pain of losing someone- is writing songs about it to get some sort of clarity.”

Boy trouble isn’t the only worry plaguing Swift at this point in her career- the singer also says that pressure mounts after a successful album to duplicate the success. She says:

“The stakes are really high if you mess up, if you slack off and don’t make a good record, if you make mistakes based on the idea that you are larger than life and you can just coast… If you start thinking you’ve got it down, that’s when you run into trouble- either by getting complacent or becoming mouthy. And nobody likes that.”

Swift- who says that she worries about peaking too early in her career- describes herself as “happily single.”

Taylor Swift’s ‘Safe and Sound’ Christmas Number 1 on iTunes

Taylor Swift is top of the Christmas singles charts this year – on iTunes, at least. The 22-year-old country music star’s latest single ‘Safe & Sound’ is a collaboration with The Civil Wars, and features on the soundtrack for forthcoming movie The Hunger Games. And now, it’s also a Christmas number one.

Swift tweeted the news and composed a quick thank-you note to her fans. She said:

“I’m also counting this as another beautiful Christmas gift.. Thank you for making ‘Safe & Sound’ the #1 song.”

The country beauty and The Civil Wars edged LMFAO’s abysmal ‘Sexy and I Know It’ into second place, while Rihanna’s ‘We Found Love‘ (which actually has a pretty good video, I thought) took bronze. ‘Safe and Sound’ is part of a soundtrack album that also boasts tracks by the usually excellent Arcade Fire and The Decemberists.

The Hunger Games hits U.S. theaters on March 23, 2012. It follows a girl called Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence) as she replaces her little sister in a fight-to-the-death annual event called the Hunger Games. Based on a trilogy of books by Suzanne Collins, two further films are expected.

Oh, and Swift had another reason to celebrate over the weekend: she passed 10 million followers on Twitter. Playing it cool (when we all know she was hitting ‘F5′ the whole of Christmas Eve), she tweeted:

“Wait wait wait. I just noticed my page has 10 million followers now? That’s crazy! What a lovely Christmas present!!”

She knows I’m close behind her, though.

Taylor Swift’s Hunger Games Song “Safe & Sound” Hits Web [Video]

Most of us are looking forward to this year’s film adaptation of “The Hunger Games”. Even if you didn’t read the books, chances are you know someone who did, and their eyes go all glittery at the mention of them. If, perchance, said friend also happens to be a Taylor Swift fan, I’ve left you a little early Christmas present that you can link to their Facebook wall below.

The basics: “The Hunger Games” film is based on the best-selling novel by Suzanne Collins, and is the first book in a trilogy. It will be released this spring on March 23. The story is set in a dystopian future, and taking cues from “The Most Dangerous Game”, revolves around Katniss entering a contest in which she hunts and fights other children her age to the death in a contest that can probably be best described as The Myth of Theseus meets every-competition-based-reality-show-you’ve-ever-seen meets Gladiator.

In any case, it is now three months before the highly-anticipated release date, and a song appearing on the official soundtrack has been bequeathed to us via the internet. I’m not going to lie to you, I’m no Taylor Swift fan, but even I think this song is pretty damn good and it whets my interest in the film even more.

Taylor Swift Ad Pulled Over Airbrushed Eyelashes

Seems Taylor Swift just got a little too perfect. The country starlet’s latest mascara ad for make-up giant CoverGirl (above) has been pulled after being deemed too airbrushed by the catchily-named National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus Claims.

The 22-year-old Swift looks like a paragon of milky-skinned perfection in the ad, which features the words “2x more volume” and then (in veeeeery fine print), “lashes enhanced in post production.” Speaking to Business Insider, NAD director Andrea Levine stated such tactics are crossing a line. She says:

“You can’t use a photograph to demonstrate how a cosmetic will look after it is applied to a woman’s face and then – in the mice type – have a disclosure that says ‘okay, not really.’”

When the NAD requested CoverGirl demonstrate its miraculous mascara, parent company Proctor and Gamble decided to pull the campaign and head back to the drawing board. In a statement, a P&G spokesperson parped:

“Upon receiving the inquiry from the NAD, P&G discontinued the advertisement in question. The NAD has deemed our intervention as accurate and proper. We have always been committed, and we continue to be committed, to featuring visuals and claims that accurately represent our products’ benefits.”

It’s great to hear companies pulled up on this crap for once, though I still think the rules over unrealistic standards of beauty in ads should be enforced a lot more. What do you reckon, our (naturally beautiful and handsome) readers? Is the Swift ad one Photoshop session too far?

Taylor Swift Accepts ‘Billboard’ Woman of the Year Award

Having recently captured the top prizes at the 2011 CMAs and AMAs, country singer and songwriter extraordinaire Taylor Swift was honored with Billboard magazine’s 2011 Woman of the Year Award this Friday and the star did little to hide her excitement.

“I’ve been smiling for like, a few weeks straight, cause all these amazing things keep happening, like the CMAs and the AMAs and the Grammy nominations and now this,” Swift gushed to Access Hollywood. “It’s crazy!”

Among the achievements that led Taylor to her Billboard honor the was best-selling performance of her third album “Speak Now,” which has sold more than 3.7 million copies and generated hits like “Mean,” as well as her philanthropic efforts and her status as a role model.

In addition to raising money and awareness for causes such as clean water, literacy, and disaster relief, the soon-to-be 22-year-old has also donated more than $1 million of her own funds to charity in the past year.

Speaking about the impact she has on others, Taylor said:

“One of the things that is a huge part of making music and putting it out into the world is understanding that you now have a role in shaping the lives of the next generation… there is a big responsibility and I take it very seriously.”

Besides Swift, hip-hop empress Nicki Minaj was also honored by Billboard as their Rising Star – a title that hits home for the “Super Bass” rapper.

“This [honor] is a big deal because everything that I do is kind of geared towards being on Billboard,” Nicki told Access Hollywood. “So, for them — of all people — to recognize me and say that I’m a rising star, it makes me feel great, like I’m doing something right.”

Swift was in agreement with Billboard’s decision to recognize Minjah. Speaking of the rapper, Taylor revealed:

“She’s one of my favorite artists to come along in the past couple of years, and Super Bass is my favorite song of the year.”

Taylor Swift Nabs “Artist Of The Year” at 2011 American Music Awards

Less than two weeks after taking home the illustrious Entertainer of the Year award at the 2011 CMAs, Country music star Taylor Swift has came up big once again – this time winning the Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards show, which aired live on ABC Sunday night.

“This is the craziest thing that has ever happened to me!” the 21-year-old ‘Fearless’ singer gushed upon receiving her prize. “Fans, please never change. I can’t believe this is happening to me!”

In addition to the AOY, Swift also snagged awards for Favorite Female Country Music Artist and Favorite Country Album (for Speak Now) during the ceremony, which took place at the NOKIA Theater in Los Angeles.

“I wrote this album while I was on the Fearless tour and so I ended up writing lots of these songs at four in the morning in hotel rooms,” Taylor told the audience after accepting the prize for Speak Now. “And the fact that you would honor it in this way, you just have no idea what this means to me.”

Along with Taylor Swift, artists Adele and Nicki Minaj were also bigger winners for the evening, each taking home multiple awards for their work.

Taylor Swift has clinched the most-coveted entertainer of the year award at the 2011 Country Music Awards. It is the second time in three years the 21-year-old has won the top award at the CMAs – she also won in 2009, aged just 19.

Newcomers The Band Perry also took home three gongs for single of the year (for their hit “If I Die Young”), song of the year, and best new artist.

But despite that hat-trick of awards, it seems to be Swift who’s grabbing the headlines. Speaking at the three-hour gala in Nashville, Tennessee, she said:

“I’m so happy right now… You’ve made my year. Thank you so much.”

However, she was passed over in a further four categories, including female singer of the year, which went to Miranda Lambert instead.

Elsewhere on the podium, Kristian Bush and Jennifer Nettles, collectively known as Sugarland, won best vocal duo, and Jason Aldean won album of the year for “My Kind of Party.” Nashville’s Lady Antebellum earned the gong for best vocal group. Here’s a list of winners from the ceremony:

Taylor Swift’s New Kitten Charms Twitter [Pics]

Taylor Swift’s new kitten has stolen the collective heart of the Twittersphere, after the country singer tweeted a pic of herself with Meredith, her unreasonably adorable adopted kitten.

The 21-year-old country singer told her nine million followers that she was “Hanging out with my new roommate, Meredith” late last week.

Meredith, for the record, is a rare breed of kitty known as the Scottish Fold. I know from personal experience of trying to acquire one (for a friend, because I’M A MANLY MAN AND ONLY KEEP ROTTWEILERS AND STUFF*) that these cats are rare as chicken teeth. A gene mutation in the breed leads to their ear cartilage containing a fold, which in turn leads to D’AWWWWWW.

Anyway, the cats usually weigh in at around $1,000 for a healthy, vaccinated animal, with demand for the kittens exceeding supply. While Swift probably had no issue sourcing a Scottish Fold of her own, most people who want one often find themselves on waiting lists, and little wonder – just look at that damn thing.

And hey, Meredith already has a celebrity admirer. Upon seeing the pic, fellow pop star Katy Perry tweeted Swift to ask:

“OH MY GOSH. Is this kitty for real!?!?”

“Yes!” came the obvious reply from Swift, who added, “And currently chasing her own tail. PS I miss you!”

Taylor Swift Topless? Singer Threatens Legal Action Over Fake Nude Pictures

Do you want to see Taylor Swift topless? Gossip site CelebJihad.com claims to have a personal picture of a naked Taylor Swift, but the singer says it isn’t true. In fact, Swift’s legal team has sent an angry letter to the website demanding that the photo be removed.

After carefully scrutinizing the picture (for journalistic reasons) it’s clear that the image is not of Taylor Swift, but the gossip site disagrees. Under the title, “Taylor Swift Topless Private Pic Leaked?” the site writes:

“After careful examination of this photo, I believe that this is in fact Taylor Swift. The wood paneling on her bedroom walls suggest that she is in some sort of top of the line trailer… which only a hoity-toity country star like Taylor Swift would splurge on.”

Makes sense, right? Any photo of a curly haired blonde naked in a trailer has to be Taylor Swift. There’s just no other explanation.

The Daily Mail reports that Swift’s lawyers say that the site is spreading “false pornographic images” and “false news,” and are threatening to take legal action.

Of course, several celebrities have had nude images of themselves posted online after their personal accounts were hacked. So maybe this really is a naked picture of Taylor Swift… No, no its not. According to TMZ, Celebjihad is currently considering its legal options.

Taylor Swift Named ‘Billboard Woman Of The Year 2011′

Billboard Magazine has named Taylor Swift as their 2011 ‘Woman of the Year.’

Swift, a four-time Grammy winner will receive her special award at the Billboard Women in Music event to be held in New York City on Dec. 2.

The 21-year-old singer/songwriter is the youngest person to receive the honor which has went to the likes of Reba McEntire, Beyonce, and Fergie.

The honor comes as Taylor celebrates the last 12 months atop the best selling album charts with her Speak Now record selling 3.6 million copies since Fall 2010.

According to Billboard Editorial Director Bill Werde:

“Taylor has shown the power of good songwriting with music that has transcended genres, and we’re thrilled to recognize all of her successes over the past year by honoring her with the Billboard Woman of the Year Award. At the young age of 21, Taylor has already made a major impact on music and has been an incredible role model for aspiring singers/songwriters and young women everywhere. I look forward to watching her career continue to flourish in the years to come.”

Taylor Swift is no stranger to being the youngest person to win major awards, in 2010 she became the youngest person to win the Grammy for Best Album when Fearless nabbed her the top prize. Swift has also won ACM, CMA, and AMA Awards.

Following Paul Simon’s genuinely captivating rendition of ‘The Sound of Silence’ in New York for the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, Taylor Swift surprised fans at her concert in Vancouver on Sunday with her own 9/11 tribute.

Her spirited version of Alan Jackson’s ‘Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)’ clearly confused most of the audience. Quite a few, I imagine, will have been too young to remember Jackson releasing the track as a tribute to those killed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Taylor Swift Buys Parents $1.4 Million Home

Singing sensation Taylor Swift has dolled out $1.4 million to buy her parents Andrea and Scott a $1.4 million home in Nashville, Tennessee.

The newly renovated three-bedroom, 5,000 square-foot estate is still in the process of being moved into and was built in the 1920′s. Included in the house is an outdoor fireplace and blue stone terrace.

According to a source close to Swift:

“It’s an incredible house.” While that same source adds, “Taylor’s been visiting her parents there and she’s so excited for them.”

If Taylor is looking for an adoptive parent, I’m free and only require a 3,000 or 4,000 square foot home.

Jay-Z has Kanye’s back on Katrina comments, Taylor Swift incident

Rapper Jay-Z has spoken out in defense of his much maligned friend Kanye West on the subject of both his outburst at a telethon to raise money for victims of Hurricane Katrina as well as his stunt interrupting Taylor’s Swift’s award acceptance to complain that Beyonce hadn’t won for her “Single Ladies” video.

Hova could have shown support for his boy a bit earlier, but he still spoke up in his characteristic, far-less-hyperbolic than Kanye manner on both issues this morning on Howard Stern’s radio show. In reference to Kanye’s “George Bush doesn’t care about black people” statement, Jay-Z says:

“It was bad timing, but it was absolutely an honest emotion. We all felt like that. We didn’t feel like Katrina was a natural disaster. We felt like it as an attack on black people. All you saw was black people on the roof with HELP signs. … White people felt like that.”

On the topic of Kanye’s behavior at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2009, Jay said:

“It’s bittersweet in a lot of ways,” he said about West’s interruption of Swift’s acceptance speech. “If we look back, everyone would agree that he was right. It was bad timing. It was not her fault. It’s not Taylor Swift’s fault. She didn’t nominate … she didn’t elect herself. She just sat there and she had a dream and she’s seeing that dream being realized, and he had the same dream, so he realizes that now. He was fighting for the integrity of the award, and he knows how hard he works on his videos. It was bad timing, but we agreed.”

Bush has said recently that Kanye’s dis was “one of the worst moments of his presidency.
