Have you ever wondered what would happen if you ran out onto the field during a MLB game?

Well, ponder no more- we got the answer when an unidentified 17-year-old kid hopped a barrier during the eighth inning last night at Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park and started running around the outfield, giving chase to security. He wasn’t as pleased when security personnel finally caught up to him and totally tased his ass in front of the whole stadium. The boy has been charged with criminal trespass, and has gained his 15 minutes of internet fame from the clip below.

According to Gothamist, this is the first time a taser has been used to “neutralize” a fan at an MLB event, but my money’s on it not being the last. MLB brass and local police are said to be reviewing the situation to see if appropriate force was used- do you think the situation warranted a tasing?

Police in Lubbock, Texas are under fire after a video published to the web showed them tasering a student they had pinned to the ground who was not resisting arrest.

The video, taken during a charity cycling event called Tour de Tech Terrace shows Texas Tech student Hunter Temperton pinned to the ground by two officers. Despite Temperton not moving, at the 42 second mark an officer tasers him on the ground.

Naturally local police officials are claiming they did no wrong, saying that Temperton had not complied with instructions from the officers and was restrained using the taser compliant with local use guidelines before being properly arrested.

Witnesses told a local paper that even from a different view to the one shot by the camera, it was clear to them that Temperton was not resisting arrest, with one telling the Daily Toreador that “There was no need to Taser him. He was already on the ground.”

Temperton was arrested on charges of resisting arrest, evading arrest, failure to identify and public intoxication. The video showing the tasering as follows:

38-year-old school bus drive Audra Harmon was shuttling her two kids around Onondaga County with her hand on her cheek in January.

Officer Sean Andrews let her pass, pulled her over and accused her of talking on a cell phone while driving- a very steep fine in New York State. Harmon indicated that she could easily prove she’d not talked on her phone for two hours, so Andrews told her he’d also “observed” her exceeding the speed limit by five miles. (Andrews was not using a radar gun.) As he returned to his patrol car, Harmon exited her minivan and asked to “see the tape” on which she was allegedly using a cell phone. From Syracuse.com:

“You’ll have to take that up in court,” he responded, according to Harmon. He told her the evidence was in a box in his patrol car, and started walking back toward it. Harmon followed. That’s when he told her to get back in the van.

She says she didn’t refuse the order but told him once more that she wanted to see his proof. Andrews drew the Taser and pointed it at her.

“Mom, get back in the car,” she recalls her son telling her. A witness, Staci Santorelli, was across the road at the Shoot ‘n’ Score soccer center and heard Andrews tell Harmon she was under arrest. Harmon also says she remembers Andrews at some point telling her she was under arrest.

“I just wanted to get back in my car where I was safe and where my kids were,” Harmon says. Andrews told her to get out.

“But you just told me to get in,” she says she told Andrews. She heard her daughter crying, “Mommy! Mommy!”

At this point, Harmon remained in the vehicle, and recalls that she was “scared to death.” In the video, Officer Andrews is seen violently removing the woman from her vehicle and attempting to use the taser on her. In her heavy winter clothing, the first jolt doesn’t “take,” so Andrews grabs Harmon again, roughly, and aims the taser at her chest. She drops to her knees following the second jolt.

Andrews insists that he charged her with disorderly conduct for obstructing traffic when she exited the vehicle. Which is odd, considering his course of action following his use of the taser. Andrews “pushed her to the ground face-first and handcuffed her in the eastbound lane of Hopkins Road” while witness offered help to the woman from across the street. Harmon was subsequently arrested as witnesses summoned her husband to collect her children and take them home.

Andrews has since been removed from road duty pending an internal affairs investigation. Harmon is suing the county on grounds that the officer was improperly trained in using a taser gun, as she says she “posed no threat.” And she wants it to be understood that it’s okay to admit fault, and that in her case, Andrews had manufactured the speeding charge when he realized the cell phone charge was erroneous.

A man pulled over for speeding in Fort Worth, Texas was tased after he refused to sign the speeding ticket.

Ryan Majcher, who volunteers his time helping police as a “Citizens on Patrol” member, was pulled over a few months ago when caught speeding on the way to work. Majcher wasn’t very pleased with being pulled over and pleaded with police to wave the ticket.

The police were none to amused then asked him to get out of the car. “I was getting out the car and next thing I know, I had what looked like a gun directly at my face,” Majcher told local media. The officer threatened him with arrest for not signing the ticket…before then discharging the taser.

Video taken at the scene does show Majcher arguing with the police, but in a passive manner. A lawyer quoted by the local TV station said that “It’s very clear in the [Fort Worth Police] policy that if someone is showing passive noncompliance, they’re not in a position to be tasered,” he said.

Naturally the police dismissed the complaint, saying that the officer did nothing wrong.
