It’s part of the company’s apology for the Super Bowl porn clip debacle.

The Super Bowl Porn Video Story

The 30-second clip went over game coverage right after the Cardinals’ final touchdown in the big game. Comcast subscribers in Tucson, Arizona saw the saucy surprise. (See our original post for images and video.)

Now, Comcast has said it’s sorry for the slip-up, offering the $10 credit to customers who caught the accidental action. Thousands of families are believed to have been affected.

“While this credit won’t change what happened, we hope that it will demonstrate to our customers, and to the Tucson community, how seriously we are taking this situation,” Comcast said in a statement.

The clip — which shows a woman unzipping a man’s pants and then proceeding with other, shall we say, activities — was from an adult movie being shown at a Comcast pay-per-view channel at the same time as the game.

Super Bowl Porn Flick Investigation

Comcast is still investigating how the Super Bowl porn clip made it onto the air. The company now says it believes it “may have been an isolated, malicious act.”

The local NBC station, KVOA, has indicated the clip did not come from its facility.

Some football fans watching the Super Bowl game on Comcast found themselves watching Super Bowl porn instead. Comcast somehow aired about 30 seconds of an adult movie over the coverage from Tucson TV station KVOA Sunday.

Comcast Super Bowl Porn

The location of the Super Bowl porn slip-up couldn’t have been more unfortunate — KVOA is in Arizona, the home state of the Arizona Cardinals. Even worse, the station says the pornographic material started playing just after the Cardinals’ final touchdown.

KVOA managers say the network feed goes from the local station to Cox Cable, then to Comcast. Only Comcast viewers saw the interruption.

“When the NBC feed of the Super Bowl was transmitted from KVOA to local cable providers and through over-the-air antennas, there was no pornographic material,” KVOA President and General Manager Gary Nielsen said in a statement.

Comcast issued the following statement Monday morning:

“We are mortified by last evening’s Super Bowl interruption, and deeply apologize to our customers for the inappropriate programming. We are aggressively investigating the situation including the possibility of foul play.”

Cox, for its part, said it had “received no evidence that any inappropriate material was broadcast on any of [its] channels during the Super Bowl,” adding that the “alleged incident appears to be isolated to the Comcast territory.”

Super Bowl Porn Fallout

Plenty of parents are expressing anger over the Comcast Super Bowl porn incident. The Tucson station’s Web site is already flooded with comments.

“When will it be ‘safe’ to watch the Super Bowl with children?” one viewer asks. “Both my kids were watching the Super Bowl with me and I am floored that this happened and when I personally tried to call Comcast they hung up on me three times. This is not right. I am MAD!” the viewer states.

“Both Channel4/ KOVA and Comcast owe their customers an explanation,” writes another viewer. “I wanted to watch the Super Bowl, not some sicko’s tech savvy interrupt. Whole families were watching the game! What kind of service are you providing?”

KVOA has promised to continue its own investigation as well.
