More than 2.1 million cribs made by Stork Craft Manufacturing have been recalled after it was found that the cribs were responsible for the death and/ or injury of over a dozen children.

The cribs, which are also sold as Fisher-Price cribs, have a faulty drop rail that can detach from the crib, leaving a gap into which babies can become stuck and suffocate. Four children have suffocated in the cribs, with another 15 children trapped but saved in time.

The Stork Craft recall affects all dropside cribs manufactured and sold by Stork Craft from January 1993. The cribs were sold at outlets including BJ’s Wholesale Club, J.C. Penney, Kmart, Meijer, Sears, USA Baby, and Walmart stores, and online at Amazon.com, Babiesrus.com, Costco.com, Target.com, and Walmart.com.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has advised parents and caregivers to stop using the recalled cribs immediately and wait for a free repair kit.
