“Saturday Night Live” will be treading once again in dangerous waters tonight. No one is worried about the performance of tonight’s host, Zooey Deschanel, but musical guest Karmin could prove to be another Lana Del Rey.

SNL was criticized for choosing Lana Del Rey as its musical guest last week because the “Videogame” singer had limited on stage experience. Lana Del Rey’s performance was called the worst in the history of SNL. (You can see her performance here.) Tonight, Karmin will take the stage under similar conditions.

Last year Karmin was still riding a wave of internet stardom. The duo, comprised of Amy Heidemann and Nick Noonan, have done a series of internet videos and are currently working on their debut album.

Heidemann said:

“We’ve been working with some of the top producers of the world. We recorded close to 50 songs, so we’re trying to get that list down to album size.”

If Karmin gives a lackluster performance tonight, SNL fans should rest assured that the comically cute Zooey Deschanel is hosting the show. Deschanel, who has starred in movies like “Elf,” “500 Days of Summer,” and currently has her own show “New Girl,” should bring the funny to the show tonight.

Deschanel said:

 ”I think the cast is so strong right now. It’s really great to be here right now. This will definitely be a highlight of my life. For sure, (I’m crossing it off) the bucket list.”

Zooey Deschanel, who must be described as “charming,” “adorable” and “quirky” in every article ever written about her (it’s the law) will be hosting this weekend’s Saturday Night Live.

The star of Fox’s New Girl will hop across to NBC for her SNL debut, and the channel has started the promotional push with the preview footage you can view below, providing you’re in the right region (I’m not, though I bet it’s charming and adorable and quirky).

Apparently, the 32-year-old Deschanel is paired with actor and comic Kenan Thompson in the clips. I hear that there’s a joke about contracting ‘jazz hands,’ and then a section where Thompson challenges the actress to yell out facts for Black History Month.

There’s also (allegedly – again, I couldn’t tell you) a bit where Thompson cracks a gag about Zooey being the “new girl” on ‘SNL.’ That doesn’t sound so great. But then Deschanel right-hooks Thompson him in the face, which sounds great again. Elsewhere in the preview, the pair look at what’s on this weekend, through the medium of opera. Opera! There’s a high probability this could be quirky! Only, I can’t tell for sure.

Last month, Lana Del Rey made her debut on SNL. The singer sang two songs from her new album and when it was over, critics called it the worst performance in the history of Saturday Night Live. Last night, Kristen Wiig, in the guise of Lana Del Ray, addressed Ray’s critics.

Wiig, said that she understood that people were upset with her performance, but maybe the criticism was a little out of proportion. Del Rey said:

“I thought I sang songs from my album, but based on the public’s response I must have been clubbing a bunch of baby seals while singing the Taliban national anthem.”

Wiig also said that she’s received flak for changing her name from Lizzy Graham to Lana Del Rey.

“No serious musician would ever change their name. Except for maybe Sting, Cher, Elton John, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Jay-Z, everyone else in hip-hop and of course, Bob Dylan.”

Singer Lana Del Rey could have helped her career more if she had just decided to stay home rather than make an appearance on Saturday night Live this past weekend. That’s because critics have tore her performance apart, calling them everything from drab and boring. In face funnyman and NBC news anchor Brian Williams called her “one of the worst [performers] in ‘SNL’ history.”

This isn’t the first time Lana Del Rey has drawn controversy in her short lived career, back in October she signed to Interscope records and signed a deal with Next Model Management, a move that drew criticism from bloggers who found her lack of authenticity to be a turn-off.

In a private email published by Gawker Brian Williams said her performance was awful but also noticed that SNL’s producers booked her on the “strength” of a two-song online EP which left her without the experience required to handle such a show. To Williams I remind our readers that the once unknown Counting Crows launched their career on the strength of their Mr. Jones single which was featured on the show.

Defending the singer was Daniel Radcliffe who noted:

“People seemed to turn on her so quickly… making it about things other than the performance… it’s all about her past and her family, and stuff that’s nobody else’s business.”

What makes her SNL performance so odd is that she has actually had some very good nationally televised performances and an excellent outing on the British late-night show ”Later… with Jools Holland.”

The world’s most powerful wizard made his debut on “Saturday Night Live” last night. Daniel Radcliffe used an impressive American accent, made fun of internet sensations, and of course, mocked his Harry Potter fame.

In his opening monologue, Radcliffe said that he was weary of spoofing Harry Potter because it has been done so many times already by SNL.

Radcliffe said:

“I, myself have already been played by Bill Hader, Hugh Jackman, and of course, Rachel Dratch. So I asked Lorne if it we could avoid sketches like “Harry Pot Head,” or see Dumbledore working at “Harry Potterybarn. But I don’t think he listened to a word I said.”

Radcliffe’s hosting gig on SNL was widely praised. The musical guest, however, drew her fair share of criticism from the Twitterverse. Lana Del Rey’s lackluster performance drew more than a few comments on Twitter last night.

“Wow watching this ‘singer’ on SNL is like watching a 12 year old in their bedroom when they’re pretending to sing and perform. #signofourtimes.”

Perez Hilton added:

“Just watched SNL. Not only was @LanaDelRey vocally WAY off, but watching her utter lack of stage presence was cringe-worthy.”

Bodolai, 63, was found by room service staff at 1.30pm on Monday. He had already passed away from a lethal cocktail of Gatorade and antifreeze, having checked into Hollywood’s Re-Tan Hotel on December 19.

On Tuesday, the Los Angeles coroner’s office ruled his death a suicide.

Bodolai wrote on 20 episodes of ‘Saturday Night Live,’ and was also a producer on TV shows such as ‘It’s Only Rock & Roll, Comics!’ and ‘The Kids in the Hall’ Canadian sketch show. He also co-wrote the first draft of ‘Wayne’s World’ with Mike Myers.

While police found no suicide note at the scene of Bodolai’s death, his online activity seemed to hint at what was to come. The LA Times highlighted a post published Friday on a WordPress blog registered to Bodolai. The post’s title? “If This Were Your Last Day Alive, What Would You Do?” It’s a long, somewhat melancholy piece, and includes sections on Bodolai’s regrets and sources of pride – you can see it here.

Meanwhile, a message on the writer’s Twitter account said “Godbye,” [sic], and featured a link to the blog post.

Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow was featured last week in a “Saturday Night Live” skit, which can be seen here. Now, rumors are circulating that the show is thinking about asking the cherubic 24 year old quarterback to host an episode himself once the season is over.

Though there’s no word as to whether SNL has contacted Tebow just yet, insiders say that the show’s producers view a potential Tim Tebow show as ratings boost, though there’s some concern that they ought to be praying themselves that he will acquiesce.

NFL quarterbacks have hosted SNL before (Tom Brady and Peyton Manning), so it’s not an entirely foreign enterprise. However Tim Tebow, arguably best known for his outspoken Christianity, may turn the offer down due to the rift between his convictions and the show’s bawdy content.

It’s possible that the show’s pokes and prods at their usual celebrity hosts may take a slightly more personal and vicious animus against the devout Tebow’s personal beliefs and faith. Last week’s skit which featured Tebow (portrayed by Taran Killam) and Jesus Christ himself (played by Jason Sudekis) was called “anti-Christian bigotry” by evangelist Pat Robertson.

Tim Tebow has thus far proven to be a controversial figure in the NFL. Some say he’s lucky. Others, that he’s terrible and that he’ll never make it as a quarterback in the NFL. However, in spite of the skeptics, (and discounting last week’s loss to the New England Patriots) the guy just can’t seem to lose. Will appearing as host on SNL soften some of the criticism pointed his way?

Harry Potter megastar Daniel Radcliffe has announced plans to host Saturday Night Live on January 14, allowing him to start his new year with the type of acting fervor he ended 2011 with.

Aside from the final Harry Potter and the Death Hallows film Radcliffe also took the the Broadway stage in ”How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying.”

During his January 14 hosting gig Radcliffe will be joined by musical guest Lana Del Rey.

If you simply can’t get enough or Mr. Potter you’ll also be able to catch him in the 2012 film “The Woman in Black.”

As if that isn’t enough praise for Radcliffe he was also recently named Entertainer of the Year by Entertainment Weekly and over the last decade he has constantly topped the list of highest paid actors thanks to his massive payouts from the Harry Potter franchise.

If you’re more of the sports fan type you can also tune in one week earlier when former NBA star Charles Barkley will take on hosting duties with Kelly Clarkson in the guest musician spot.

Late night host Jimmy Fallon will be coming home to Saturday Night Live today, December 17, for the show’s Christmas episode and, this time around, he’ll be the one hosting the show.

Fallon was a cast member on Saturday Night Live for 6 years – but tonight will mark the first time since his departure in 2004 that he’s hosted the show. As much as experience as he may have as a cast member, he says he’s still “freaking out” about hosting.

“I’m freaking out because I’m just the biggest fan of the show – even before I became a cast member – and now hosting is a dream come true,” Jimmy told Access Hollywood at an SNL rehearsal. “I mean, these guys are the best at what they do… it’s so exciting and so fun to be here. It’s gonna be a great show.”

Canadian singer-songwriter Michael Bublé is set as the musical guest for tonight’s episode, and Fallon went on to say that we might expect to see some of Bublé’s comedic skills on display in the show as well.

“He’s gonna do sketches too. We’re gonna make Michael Buble sing and just make a fool of himself, which he is totally on board with doing,” he said. “He’s awesome.”

Katy Perry was at the helm for Saturday Night Live on, er, Saturday night, spoofing a range of fellow celebs and herself.

Pippa Middleton and Christina Aguilera were both targets of Perry’s gentle jibes, but the show opened with Perry ribbing herself … and in particular her unconventional wardrobe choices in her music videos.

The pop star revealed her outrageous outfits were borrowed from real people she grew up with. Cue Kristen Wiig arriving on stage as ‘Janet,’ Perry’s former neighbor, wearing a blue wig and frosting guns, as famously sported by Perry the ‘California Gurls’ video. Then Andy Samberg emerged as Kathy Beth Terry, Perry’s alter-ago in ‘Last Friday Night‘ who she used to babysit. You probably had to be there.

Better (I thought) was Perry spoofing herself on ‘Kalle,’ a mock Finnish talk show with a deliciously psychotic host armed with a clip for every anecdote, statement and syllable uttered by Perry. The humor was knowing and occasionally a little dark – not bad.

I was less crazy about Perry’s impersonation of  Christina Aguilera’s singing in mock movie ‘The Apocalypse,’ but her portrayal of Kate Middleton’s sister, Pippa, was pretty good, with an overly protective Pippa defending her sister Kate against a raunchy Queen and Prince Philip. Andy Samberg pulls off the Prince William look a little too well …

Other celebrities turned up for the show, including Alec Baldwin (who poked fun himself about his recent airline troubles – see HERE for the video), Matt Damon (yes, that’s him above) and Val Kilmer.

Alec Baldwin on Saturday took to Saturday Night Live where he made fun of his recent American Airlines incident in which he flipped out on the flight crew when asked to turn off his Words With Friends game.

Playing the role of American Airlines captain Steve Rodgers he referred to himself (Alec Baldwin) as an “American Treasure.”

After the incident Baldwin tweeted:

“Flight attendant on American reamed me out 4 playing WORDS W FRIENDS while we sat at the gate, not moving. #nowonderamericaairisbankrupt”

In apologizing to himself during Weekend Update with Seth Meyers he said:

“It was awful, Seth, which is why it was very important for me to come here tonight and on behalf of everyone at American Airlines issue an apology to Mr. Alec Baldwin.”

Meyers then asked:

“Alec, are you sure this is the right way to handle this?”

Baldwin then answered (as pilot Rodgers):

“Mr. Baldwin is an American treasure and I am ashamed of the way he was treated.”

Baldwin then went on to explain why he slammed the lavatory door during his standoff with the crew, claiming ”Words with Friends” is “frustrating.”

Last week Alec Baldwin was kicked off an American Airlines flight for playing Words With Friends on the runway. After the incident, Balwin wrote an article entitled “A Farewell to Common Sense, Style, and Service” to apologize to his fellow passengers while slamming the airline. But Baldwin isn’t done talking about his fiasco. Last night he appeared on Saturday Night Live as American Airlines captain Steve Rogers to apologize to himself.

After the incident, Baldwin wrote:

“The lesson I’ve learned is to keep my phone off when the 1950′s gym teacher is on duty. That was my fault there, even though this trip was quite a bit different from so many others. But it is sad, I think, that you’ve got to fly overseas today in order to bring back what has been thrown overboard by US carriers in terms of common sense, style, and service.”

During his article, Baldwin also managed to insult the bus industry. Balwin wrote that the lack of common sense, style, and service in the airline industry make flying a “Greyhound bus experience.”

Tonight, Katy Perry, and her boobs, will host Saturday Night Live. The “Fireworks” singer has appeared on the late night sketch show before but this will be her first time taking on the role of host.

So what can we expect from Katy Perry tonight? Apparently, a whole lot of cleavage.

Perry told Access Hollywood:

“There were a lot of [skit] pitches about my boobs. I was cool about that, but I’m not sure all of it [got] in. So we’ll see.”

And this won’t be the first time that Katy Perry‘s boobs were featured during an SNL sketch. After Perry made a funny (or racy, depending on your view) video with Elmo from Sesame Street, the singer appeared on SNL to make light of the controversy.

Perry also said that her husband, Russel Brand, who has some SNL hosting experience, has been coaching Perry for her performance tonight. Perry said:

Still, Perry’s pretty sure that she’ll screw something up tonight. Perry told MTV:

“Well, you’re gonna see some Hello Kitty, some cockney accents, maybe, and some of me flubbing my lines, probably laughing out loud at Kristen Wiig, ’cause she’s amazing.”

From Zombieland to Sesame Street? Actress Emma Stone took some time out of her busy schedule this week to make an appearance on the hit children’s workshop show where she showed preschoolers the marvels of balance.

As shown in the picture above Emma attempts to balance a washing basket full of clothes on her head but fails to keep it from falling over, she then tries a stack of books.

Helping her in the balancing act is Muppet Abby Cadabby who uses her magic wand to help balance the laundry basket full of clothes and books all at one time.

Singer Katy Perry has signed on to host Saturday Night Live on December 10. Katy has appeared on NBC’s sketch comedy in the past, including a guest appearance in September 2010 when Amy Poehler was hosting the sketch comedy show.

The last time Perry appeared on the show she had just been dropped from an episode of Sesame Street after wearing a “revealing low-cut” shirt while taping a segment for the children’s show. In her SNL sketch she poked fun at her appearance and the spot earned her plenty of praise for her ability to poke fun at herself.

Perry won’t be the first musician to host the sketch show, Justin Timberlake (several times), Britney Spears and even Sting have taken turns hosting the show along with various other musicians who have been lucky enough to make the cut.

Announcing her shot at hosting SNL Katy Perry tweeted:

“I’m SO excited 2 announce I’ll be HOSTING Saturday Night Live Dec. 10! This is the cherry on top and @robynkonichiwa is part of it!”

Now that Jerry Sandusky has completely turned Penn State on it’s head it was only a matter of time before the folks at Saturday Night Live spoofed the situation and they did so with a scared devil.

When told by Seth Meyers that it wasn’t just a recruiting scandal the devil sighs “I just assumed” and when told about what happened he responds:

 ”Shut up! No! … Well, yeah, of course I’m upset. I’m the Prince of Darkness, but I’m not a monster.”

The devil then continued:

“Joe Pa, a cover up? … This is college football, not the Catholic Church!”

“Are you kidding me? What in my hometown are you talking about?! … I’m out, I quit. Evil isn’t what it used to be.”

Darrell Hammond played some very memorable characters on Saturday Night Live including Bill Clinton, Sean Connery and Chris Matthews. He’s also one of the masterminds behind the hugely successful FunnOrDie.com website, what may of his fans might not realize however is that Hammond fought and defeated addictions to both crack cocaine and alcohol.

Hammond reveals his demons in his new memoir God, If You’re Not Up There, I’m Fucked. 

In the book he writed:

“I kept a pint of Remy in my desk at work. The drinking calmed my nerves and quieted the disturbing images that sprang into my head. When drinking didn’t work, I cut myself.”

According to the comedian his alcoholism eventually led to harder substances and eventually he began cutting himself before eventually smoking crack cocaine several times a day when into his 14th season on SNL

Darrell says in his book that after one extremely heavy drinking binge he was placed in a straight jacket and:

“My wife came, but I didn’t recognize her…I had to be creative about how I did it without other people catching on or letting it interfere with the work. At least too much…”

Hammond sent copies of his memoir to the Saturday Night Live cast last week and is currently awaiting their response, he told the Hollywood Reporter:

“I don’t have anything bad to say about anyone there. They all really went above and beyond the call for me.”

Saturday Night Live star Kristen Wiig might soon be leaving her post at the comedy sketch show after her movie Bridesmaids managed to score big at the box office.

Almost immediately after the rumor surfaced a new Facebook petition titled “Keep KW on SNL” surfaced and signatures have been flying in.

Among the comedians best known SNL characters are Gilly and Penelope.

According to sources close to Wiig she plans to focus her career on the more lucrative business of making movies.

If news of a Kristen Wiig departure isn’t bad enough there’s also rumors flying around the SNL set that Jason Sudeikis is also considering an exit from the show at the end of the season.

Saturday Night Live funnyman Kenan Thompson is engaged, several sources have reported.

Thompson, 33, rose to fame in the 90′s on Nickelodeon’s teen comedy lineup before landing a spot among the not ready for primetime players. The actor is set to wed model Christina Evangeline, and the rumors indicated the couple will be tying the knot on November 11th, 2011- or 11-11-11. (A date some consider lucky.) While that was speculative, it appears there was a grain of truth to the tale.

Over on Christina Evangeline’s Twitter, the model has addressed the rumors twice, saying:

o____O huh RT @Creole_Bonita: Omg wow I found out thru the US Weekly twitter @MissEvangeline. Congrats baby girl!!!!!! Awwww  

@Creole_Bonita we are. just don’t know how people are finding out. especially the date. wow lol

…so it would appear the date has been tacitly confirmed by the model. Thompson recently returned to his Nick roots to appear on the iCarly and Victorious crossover iParty. Of his appearance, Thompson said:

“Well, I play myself – or a celebrity version of myself, I guess! One of the kids on the show wants to have a party and uses my ‘quote / unquote’ mansion to have a party in.

“I come home and I join the party too, then there’s a panda running around chasing me. It’s been following me to different places and apparently it found my new house and it’s giving me problems. There’s just wackiness going on like that.”

Thompson isn’t too cool for kids’ TV- he says he “owes a lot” to Nickelodeon for his success.
