Ryan Reynolds to star in the new Green Lantern Movie

Ryan Reynolds has been cast to star in the new Green Lantern movie.

Reynolds recently starred as Deadpool in the movie X-Men Origins, Wolverine which led to a spinoff movie. He also starred along with Sandra Bullock in The Proposal which has made over $100 million since it’s debut in theatres.

DC Comic book hero, the Green Lantern, appointed to a special intergalactic troop of superheros by the guardians of the universe, sounds like a role that could be challenging for Reynolds.

Production on the movie will start in January 2010 with Martin Campbell directing.

Actor Ryan Reynolds, perhaps better known as the husband of Scarlett Johansson, dreams of giving a home to a disadvantaged child because of his own upbringing with an adopted sibling.

He revealed: “My oldest brother is adopted and I have every intention of adopting at some time. I’m very grateful for having my brother in my life. I couldn’t be more pro-adoption. There are plenty of kids in the world that need it.”

Although Ryan is now very close to his three brothers, he admits they didn’t always get on as youngsters. He added to Britain’s Glamour magazine: “I learned how to take a punch from a very early age. I was routinely pummeled into a fine cottage cheese.”

The 32-year-old star also enjoys a close relationship with his parents and says he shares a lot of their traits. He explained: “I have my father’s face and body, but my mother’s unshakable thirst for knowledge. She works part-time jobs but basically she’s been a student her whole life. She still goes to university and she’s in her 60s.”

Scarlett Johansson donned a revealing red dress to pose on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar and talk about her marriage– it’s “normal”– and about how people just want to see her show some skin.

Even though Scarlett lives a life in the spotlight, she told Bazaar that she tries to keep things to herself as much as possible. ”You have to protect some things, even if it’s a silly detail like who designed your dress,” she said. “It was private, which is what I really wanted. I’ve never been the girl who thought of the big dress, the big ceremony. I’m more low-key than that. Most people want photographers at their wedding, and for us it was how do we leave them out?”

Maybe there isn’t much to talk about, anyway. Scarlett admitted that her marriage isn’t a big deal, and that “I feel like everything is really normal, it’s calm and natural, like the way it should be. I have no perspective on it because it’s been such a short time. I would never try to profess some knowledge that I discovered. I’m happy and it feels very regular, which is good.”

Scarlett did admit one surprising goal: she hopes to “run a brothel”. . . in a Western film, that is! “It’s only so long that people are going to want to see me in a corset,” she added.

Scarlett Johansson Puts Off Her Wedding– Again

I thought that Scarlett had said that she was going to delay the wedding already, but a source has clarified that it’s definitely penciled in post-November. NOW mag brought us the dirt:

‘Ryan has been wanting to marry Scarlett for some time and was thrilled when they got engaged in May,’ a source tells the Daily Express. ‘He’d marry her if he could tomorrow if he could but Scarlett’s twin Hunter is really busy working on Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. He’s working all the time so Scarlett wants to hold off until the election is over.’

Sigh. It’s just unfortunate that I can’t get worked up over their wedding after Scarlett totally killed it by yammering on about monogamy for the third year in a row. We get it– we did in 2006, in fact– and now all I see is a ticking clock for her and Ryan. Could she really settle down?

Well, we’ll see after November of this year.

Breaking the Tradition of Whirlwind Romance

Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds are in fact engaged, and that makes for some potentially hot babies in the future (see above for proof). After watching grueling celeb specials on “10 Celebrity Marriage Mistakes” and the like, there’s one resounding message via Hollywood: rushing things can be a Big Mistake.

That is why Scarlett’s engagement couldn’t be better. She’s been dating Ryan Reynolds for over a year, which is equivalent to much more on the tinseltown timeline, and maybe they’re actually built to last. Even Scarlett’s rep is gushing about the whole thing, confirming that “They’re both thrilled.”

Perhaps Mariah Carey could’ve taken a page from their book.
