Now that Roseanne’s done campaigning for the presidency she’s getting ready to return to what she does best: Television. NBC and Roseanne Barr are teaming up to create a new show for the network.

The LA Times reports that Barr’s last attempt to create a show, Downwardly Mobile, didn’t make it too far at NBC. It’s unclear what the new show will be about but the network is apparently ready to take another chance with the comedian.

MSN reports that before Roseanne’s new show hits the air (if it ever does) the comedian will appear on another NBC sitcom: The Office.

Barr will play a talent agent who tries to help Andy (Ed Helms) break into Hollywood.

This won’t be Roseanne’s first trip back to TV land recently. The comedian was roasted by Comedy Central earlier this year and in 2011 she starred in a reality show, Roseanne’s Nuts.

Steven Greener, who worked on the Lifetime series with Roseanne, will also produce Roseanne’s new show.

Actress, comedienne, and presidential candidate Roseanne Barr turns 60 today (November 3). As such, fans should find some time in their busy schedules today for a few episodes of her classic television sitcom.

After moving to Colorado at the age of 18, Barr began doing stand-up comedy gigs are various clubs throughout Denver. She soon developed a strong following which prompted appearances on The Tonight Show in 1985 and Late Night with David Letterman in 1986. Her The Roseanne Barr Show comedy special debuted on HBO in 1987.

Barr was originally offered the role of Peg Bundy in the popular 80s sitcom Married … with Children, though she ultimately turned it down. A few years later, she would launch her own situation comedy, simply titled Roseanne.

The series, which followed the trials and tribulations of the Conner family, starred John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, Alicia Goranson, Michael Fishman, and Emmy Award winner Laurie Metcalf. The series would enjoy nine seasons before coming to an end in 1997.

After the conclusion of her sitcom, Roseanne Barr ventured into the world of daytime TV. The actress’ chat program The Roseanne Show ran from 1998 until 2000. Following its cancellation, Barr would ultimately disappear from the small screen for several long years.

In 2005, the comedienne embarked on lengthy stand-up tour that would take her around the globe. However, the call of televised success proved too much to take; Barr returned to TV with the 2011 unscripted drama Roseanne’s Nuts which followed the actress as she operated a macadamia nut and livestock farm in Hawaii.

Recently, Barr has set her sights on the White House. The actress, who supports the legalization of marijuana and believes Romney is pro-rape, hopes to be elected president next week.

“The legalization of marijuana is the way to end all Drug Wars and stop the monopoly of the subsidized prison systems,” Roseanne explained. “Our government and corporations are getting paid every time someone goes to prison for non-violent crimes due to marijuana arrests. Drug laws need to be rewritten to make them sane and people based. We need to end the prohibition on marijuana and legalize it.”

Although Roseanne Barr turns 60 today, it doesn’t appear that the actress, comedienne, and politician is slowing down anytime soon. Happy Birthday!

Actress Roseanne Barr is officially running against President Barack Obama and GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney. The famed and outspoke actress is running beside vice presidential selection Cindy Sheenhan. Barr’s running mate is an anti-war activist who lost her son in 2004 when fighting in Iraq.

The party platform for the women is based around the legalization of marijuana and same sex marriage.

With the two main party contenders raising more than $1 billion in campaign funds Roseanne will definitely be at a disadvantage during this election cycle.

I do have to hand it to Roseanne as she is not afraid to go after big political and economic issues. On her website Roseanne writes of economics in America:

“The Bankers and the Federal Reserve need to be brought down. They have stolen our money, our future and the American Dream and continue to enslave us with a broken monetary system. There is no scarcity; there is manipulation of the resources. We need to end the wars, bring our troops home and our jobs back, create new Green jobs and put people back to work. We need a resource based economy.”

Roseanne Barr made it clear that she intends to take on those in power with her unlikely run for president, but the comedienne took it a step further with recent Twitter posts.

The candidate made it clear that she doesn’t think too highly of billionaires, Democrats, or Republicans, calling all of them out in a series of posts, MSN reported.

As a candidate for the Peace and Freedom Party, Roseanne Barr hasn’t shied away from controversial statements. In an interview with The Daily Beast she claimed that America has been “bamboozled and hoodwinked” and that the government is “owned by bankers.”

“Vote for me. I’m not a liar. I’m not a thief. I’m not a whore,” Roseanne said. “And I’m not a politician. I think that uniquely qualifies me to become president of the U.S.”

In all, Roseanne said she hopes to offer Americans another option.

If you’re still wondering who should receive your vote for President of the United States this year, then your decision-making process is about to get a serious complication. Roseanne Barr, stand-up comedienne and sitcom legend, is still very serious about leading the country for four years. In fact, according to MSN’s Wonderwall, Barr has been nominated by the Peace and Freedom party as their presidential candidate of choice.

Joining the actress in her quest for national domination is anti-war activist and fellow Peace and Freedom party member Cindy Sheehan, who will will serve as her vice presidential running mate. In 2005, Sheehan made some waves when she protested outside of President George W. Bush’s Texas Ranch, an event she followed up in 2008 with an unsuccessful Congressional bid.

“Cindy and I are the ‘Throw the Bums Out’ ticket and the ‘Ballot Access’ ticket. The American people are sick and tired of this ‘lesser evil’ garbage they get fed every election year,” Barr said before the nomination. “Both the Democrats and the Republicans do the same evils once they’re in office.”

Unfortunately for the candidate, she won’t appear on nearly enough ballots to make a difference. According to CNN, the California-based Peace and Freedom Party has little influence outside of the state. Of course, that doesn’t seem to bother Barr much at all. Her sights are set, and her mission has been declared.

“I’m here to tell the voters: if you want to tell the government and the two domineering parties that you’re sick and tired of all their evil, register in the Peace and Freedom Party and vote for me and Cindy,” Barr ballyhooed.

Shortly after the nomination came down, Barr appeared at a Comedy Central roast in her honor. That particular event is presently scheduled to air on the aforementioned network on August 12.

A “Roseanne” reunion of sorts is set to take place at the Comedy Central roast of Roseanne Barr, with former castmates from the hit sitcom ready to attend.

The roast, which Comedy Central announced earlier in the summer, has already gotten commitments from former “Roseanne” cast members Sarah Chalke, Michael Fishman and Alicia Goranson, UPI reported. All have said they will be at the Los Angeles event.

Other comedians and entertainers will be at the roast in addition to the makeshift “Roseanne” reunion. Guests announced so far for the event at the Hollywood Palladium include Ellen Barkin, Wayne Brady, and Gilbert Gottfried, the cable network said. Other presenters will include Carrie Fisher, Seth Green, Katey Sagal, Anthony Jeselnik, Jeffrey Ross and Amy Schumer, with “Glee” star Jane Lynch will serve as roast master.

The roast hasn’t been the only recent fodder for fans seeking a “Roseanne” reunion. Earlier this year reports emerged that John Goodman was close to signing on to Roseanne Barr’s NBC comedy pilot, “Downwardly Mobile,” The Huffington Post reported. Goodman and Barr played functionally dysfunctional spouses Dan and Roseanne Connor on the hit show that ran from 1988 to 1997.

“Downwardly Mobile” sounds to be in the same vein as “Roseanne,” featuring a middle class family that moves into a mobile home.

The “Roseanne” reunion and the comedy special come at a busy time for Barr. She has announced her intention to run for president in 2012, seeking the Green Party nomination. She also threw her hat into the process for the Peace and Freedom Party’s nomination, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The “Roseanne” reunion will air with the comedy special on Aug. 12.

Back in February Roseanne Barr (of early ’90s television fame) filed to run for U.S. President as the Green Party’s candidate, and four months later she’s still in the race.

According to USA Today, Roseanne is still moving forward with her presidential bid despite the fact that her Green Party opponent, physician Jill Stein, appears to be locked in for the nomination.  Stein has secured the votes necessary to cinch the Presidential Bid over her two opponents, Roseanne and Kent Mesplay, according to the California Green Party’s website.

Indeed, on 5 June Roseanne came in second to Stein in the California primary with 40% of votes to Stein’s 48.6%.  This prompted the former television star to announce that she would instead run for the “Green Tea Party,” as reported by Mercury News.

However, it looks like over the past couple days Roseanne has changed her mind and remains committed to the Green Party ticket.  On Wednesday her spokeswoman, Anita Stewart, announced in an email that “…Candidate Barr is still campaigning for the Green Party. I don’t have any other official word at this time. She has definitely not dropped from the race. If and when we get any changes to this, we will put out a press release immediately.”

What, you may ask, does Roseanne promise for her Presidency?  Legalized marijuana, support for Palestinians, student loan debt forgiveness, and the closure of U.S. military bases on foreign soil.  Via Twitter, she promised to “put the Electoral College and its racist foundation into the mainstream dialogue of this election cycle.”

Somehow, her prospects seem slim.  Even if she manages to secure the Green Party nomination, third-party candidates do not have a history of success in the United States; since its inception the United States has operated under a two-party system, with a brief exception in the early 1800s.

If the reader is hoping to vote for Roseanne, you may need to settle for a write-in on the ballot.  Whoever wins the nomination, the Green Party candidate will only appear on the ballot in a little over twenty states.

Actors in Hollywood will do anything these days to draw attention to themselves, even going so far as to make a mockery of the US Presidential nomination process by running for President. That was the case on Thursday when actress/talk show host Roseanne filed the necessary papers to run for the US Presidential office.

Roseanne is seeking the Green Party’s nomination for President and she says she’ll focus her efforts on legalizing marijuana.

Barr says her run for office isn’t a joke and that she wants to capitalize on the Occupy Wall Street movement to draw in support from millions of voters who she believes have been undervalued by the US Government.

In a statement regarding her decision to see the office of the President she noted:

“The Democrats and Republicans have proven that they are servants—bought and paid for by the 1%—who are not doing what’s in the best interest of the American people,”

Roseanne Barr is the third candidate to seek the Green Party’s nomination. She’s be going up against Dr. Kent Mesplay, an air quality inspector in San Diego County,  Dr. Jill Stein who is a mother, housewife, physician and longtime teacher of internal medicine and Harley Mikkelson who is now retired and spent 26 years with the Michigan Departments of Community Health, Education, and Human Services.

Speaking on Green Party Watch Roseanne Barr noted:

“Both the Democratic and Republican parties are bought and paid for by corporate America and cater to the needs of the highest bidder as opposed to the people they claim to represent. I cannot be bought. I have been a tireless advocate of Occupy Wall Street since Day 1 when I delivered my campaign speech in Liberty Plaza on September 17th, 2011.”

I’ll stand behind her legalization of marijuana movement but I would be afraid to see her talking to world leaders about issues of national security.
