Actors in Hollywood will do anything these days to draw attention to themselves, even going so far as to make a mockery of the US Presidential nomination process by running for President. That was the case on Thursday when actress/talk show host Roseanne filed the necessary papers to run for the US Presidential office.

Roseanne is seeking the Green Party’s nomination for President and she says she’ll focus her efforts on legalizing marijuana.

Barr says her run for office isn’t a joke and that she wants to capitalize on the Occupy Wall Street movement to draw in support from millions of voters who she believes have been undervalued by the US Government.

In a statement regarding her decision to see the office of the President she noted:

“The Democrats and Republicans have proven that they are servants—bought and paid for by the 1%—who are not doing what’s in the best interest of the American people,”

Roseanne Barr is the third candidate to seek the Green Party’s nomination. She’s be going up against Dr. Kent Mesplay, an air quality inspector in San Diego County,  Dr. Jill Stein who is a mother, housewife, physician and longtime teacher of internal medicine and Harley Mikkelson who is now retired and spent 26 years with the Michigan Departments of Community Health, Education, and Human Services.

Speaking on Green Party Watch Roseanne Barr noted:

“Both the Democratic and Republican parties are bought and paid for by corporate America and cater to the needs of the highest bidder as opposed to the people they claim to represent. I cannot be bought. I have been a tireless advocate of Occupy Wall Street since Day 1 when I delivered my campaign speech in Liberty Plaza on September 17th, 2011.”

I’ll stand behind her legalization of marijuana movement but I would be afraid to see her talking to world leaders about issues of national security.

I just wonder if she’ll be this type of President:

Although the economy is suckier than it has been in recent decades, one thing that’s missing from TV right now is a gritty, working class sitcom like Roseanne Barr’s game-changing hit Roseanne was in the 90s.

Sitcoms today are populated with multi-million dollar homes and model-esque moms- compare, for instance, the set and characters of Roseanne to that of Modern Family or Desperate Housewives. The show was a hit it its time not just for its edgy and hilarious writing and acting, but also for how relatable the cast and settings were to middle-class America. Rosie was just like a lot of wise-cracking moms, and the Conners’ home was not bedecked in shiny appliances and perfect decor- it looked just like many average American homes, a bit run-down and lived in, and Roseanne and Dan’s menial jobs and everyday struggles were pretty much like the ones we saw in everyday life.

So essentially, while America slogs through the worst economy-related setbacks many of us thirty-somethings have ever seen, we’re watching shows that make us feel a bit raw perhaps about our own lifestyle setbacks. But Roseanne Barr is coming back to the sitcom playing field after the cancellation of her show Roseanne’s Nuts- which chronicled her Hawaiian macadamia nut farm- and will be helming a show titled Downwardly Mobile.

Aside from being an apt description of how many Americans feel right now, Barr’s Downwardly Mobile is set in a mobile home park where Roseanne plays the boss-lady, and mother-figure to many of the residents. Roseanne alum Eric Gilliland will be back to co-produce with Barr, but it is not known exactly when the show will premiere.

Roseanne Barr’s New Show ‘Downwardly Mobile’ Picked Up is a post from: The Inquisitr

If you’re a Roseanne Barr fan, the star has some not so great news today.

On her Twitter feed, the outspoken Barr confirmed to fans that Lifetime had chosen not to renew her reality show Roseanne’s Nuts. Roseanne’s Nuts centered around the actress, her partner Johnny Argent and her son Jake Pentland and their adventures on their macadamia nut and livestock farm in Hawaii.

While the show appears to have garnered mixed feedback, some critics were positive. The Los Angeles Times reviewed Roseanne’s Nuts favorably, saying:

There are no overproduced glamorous outings, no sound-track manipulated showdowns, no manufactured feuds — everyone in the pilot has the easy genial mien of friends helping out an odd but beloved neighbor. There’s even a trio of local musicians providing a transitional tune… The result is an occasionally weird, occasionally hilarious show that is simultaneously a window into the life of an eccentric performer and a wickedly fun send-up of the genre, dating all the way to Paris Hilton and “The Simple Life.”

On Twitter, Barr simply tweeted:

“Roseanne’s Nuts has been cancelled. thanks everyone for watching! …glad you guys loved #roseannesnuts-@Lifetimetv decided not to renew it.”

However, there is a bit of good news for fans of Roseanne- particularly if you really enjoyed her old sitcom on ABC. The comedienne and actress is slated to bring to screen and star in a new sitcom called Downwardly Mobile. Few details are available about the new venture, but it will center around a family struggling through the economic downturn.

The new series, Roseanne’s Nuts, provides an inside look at 58-year-old Barr and her longtime boyfriend Johnny Argent as they operate a 40-acre macadamia and livestock farm located on the Big Island of Hawaii.

According to LA Time’s Mary McNamara, Barr’s new show, which features the outspoken actress donning a a polka dot apron while hunting wild, macadamia nut-thieving pigs, is an “occasionally weird, occasionally hilarious,” and “wickedly fun send-up of the genre, dating all the way to Paris Hilton and The Simple Life.”

The show more than occasionally plays like a satire of “Sarah Palin’s Alaska,” wrote the LA Times TV Critic.

Comedienne Roseanne Barr took to her blog to blast the Mormon church for its anti-gay rhetoric, speculating that the pressure drove Marie Osmond’s son Michael Blosil to commit suicide in Los Angeles last week.

Barr doesn’t attack Osmond (much) directly, instead blaming the institutionalized homophobia in the Mormon church for driving Michael to suicide:

because he had been told how wrong and how sick he was every day of his life by his church and the people in it. Calling that “depression” is a lie!

Gerald Lund one of the ex church apostles has three gay kids himself.

Yet, even though the people they say they love the most in all of their public displays and speeches (THEIR KIDS AND FAMILY!!) are gay,– their own children,for crying out loud- these people cannot find the christian decency and compassion within themselves to stop their hypocritical gay bashing!!

Barr goes on to take a minor swipe at Osmond, urging her to advocate for kids like Michael in the same way she advocates for

Marie please don’t talk about how your faith in your church has helped you get through this one! Please get some integrity and tell that church of yours that you will leave it and stop giving it ten percent of your money if they don’t stop trying to destroy your kids’ and all gay people’s civil rights and dreams and hopes!!

G-d is trying to use you for something good and this is your opportunity! Your church is wrong and on the wrong wrong wrong side of things! Get as vocal about that as you are about your diet. G-d bless you too, Marie.

Osmond has not commented on the issue.

Roseanne Barr is back in the news this week after a controversial photo shoot with Jewish hipster mag Heeb.

Barr did a layout with the publication which depicts the former prime-time queen as a Hitler-esque (complete with tiny mustache) housewife removing a tray of burnt gingerbread “Jew Cookies” from an oven. In the piece, Barr characteristically bares all as she prepares to embrace another controversy.

As the “Domestic Goddess” dons the famous moustache, transforming into “Domestic Goddess Hitler,” I notice that she’s beginning to have fun. She nails the Fuehrer’s facial expressions with twisted glee, and as she takes the burnt gingerbread “Jew Cookies” out of the oven it occurs to me that Barr may be the last celebrity utterly incapable of giving a f*ck—a quality theoretically easy to embody until it’s time to face the practical repercussions. “Franklin Ajae, Paul Mooney, Mort Sahl and Dick Gregory’s passings will tear my kishkas out,” Barr laments. “They gave everything they had to just tell the truth, and they couldn’t make a decent living because of the choice they made—not selling out to Hollywood.”

While Barr’s recent party trick is certainly offensive and controversial, the Jewish grandma did end up with at least one fan. Says the article’s author:

When the photographer suggests that we pose together for a quick snapshot, I put my arm around this slightly eccentric drinker and pot smoker who gets off on dressing like a Nazi, and it dawns on me: I adore her.

Kat Deluna may be an up and coming star with her first record selling well, but apparently live performances aren’t her strong point, as the video of her signing the National Anthem before a Monday Night Football game above shows. At 2:12 into the video, you can hear what some have called “merciless booing.” It might not be quite as bad as Roseanne Barr’s effort back in 1990, but it’s certainly the worst we’ve seen since.
