Madonna has taken out the number one position in Billboard’s latest Biggest Money Makers list.

The Biggest Money Makers list is a Top 40 ranking of the highest earning musicians in the previous year. This year, the top spots in the list were mainly driven by revenue gained from live performances, with Madonna holding the top rank with a cool $34,577,308.62 largely thanks to her 2012 MDNA tour. According to Billboard, the MDNA tour grossed around $304 million in its 88 stop schedule, with $32 million of that going into Madonna’s pocket.  The MDNA album earned around $1.5 million in digital and hard copy sales.

This is the second time the Queen of Pop has been crowned Queen of the Moneymakers, also ranking number one in 2008, earning some $242 million following the record breaking success of her Sticky and Sweet tour.

The 2013 Billboard Money Makers was a list for the music veterans, and, as Billboard notes, most of the oldies who ranked in the Top Ten did so despite underperforming albums.

Bruce Springsteen came in at number two with $33,443,606.64, 92 percent of that figure coming from Springsteen’s phenomenally successful E Street Band tours.  Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters and Halen came through at positions 3 and 4 on their backs of their respective tours, while country music star, Kenny Chesney, took the number 5 spot following the success of his recent tour with Tim McGraw. McGraw ranked at number 7. Teen pop sensation, Justin Bieber just snuck through to the Top 10, ranking in the tenth position with $15,944,293.10. Justin Bieber had other reasons to be celebrated by Billboard this year, being named the first musician with five Billboard No. 1 albums before the age of 19.

Last year, Taylor Swift topped the chart. This year, Swift came in at number 15 with the drop coming, as NME reports, due to the fact that Swift has not been touring. Madonna was the only woman in the Top 10 of the Billboard Money Makers List.

The 12-12-12 Concert for Sandy Relief is set to kick off at 7:30 EST with one of the most all-star set of casts this planet has seen since Woodstock.  Bon Jovi, Green Day, Roger Waters, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Nirvana, Eric Clapton, Alicia Keyes, Billy Joel, and Kanye West are headlining this event with all proceeds going to the Robin Hood Relief Effort. Hurricane Sandy washed up on the East Cost last night killing more than 100 people and leaving billions alone, hungry, and without power.  The storm did billions of damage to the New York and New Jersey areas alone.  Tonight these artists are joining together for one night at Madison Square Garden to tell those who lost everything that they have their back.

Kristen Stewart and The Rolling Stones have joined the line-up for the 12-12-12 benefit concert for Hurricane Sandy victims.

The Stones were persuaded to get involved during a rehearsal for their Saturday show at the Barclays Center. Two of the producers — John Sykes of Clear Channel Media and movie producer Harvey Weinstein — made the trip to Brooklyn to personally appeal to the band.

“Mick said ‘The Rolling Stones pop group is in,’” Mr. Weinstein said at the press conference at Madison Square Garden on Friday.

The addition of The Rolling Stones makes the 12-12-12 concert one of the largest gatherings of big-name, stadium rock musicians in modern times.

The show will be held at the legendary Madison Square Garden on Wednesday.

So far the line-up includes Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, The Who, Roger Waters, Billy Joel, Kanye West, Chris Martin, Alicia Keys, Dave Grohl, Eddie Vedder and Kanye West.

This year is the 50th Anniversary of the Rolling Stones’ inception. Currently promoting a greatest hits album GRRR! which was released on November 12, the band recently walked the red carpet at the London film festival for the premiere of their documentary “Crossfire Hurricane.”

Kristen Stewart will also be making an appearance at the concert next Wednesday.

The 22-year-old who recently said goodbye to the iconic Twilight Saga character — Bella — that turned her into Hollywood’s highest paid actress, will shortly be seen in US theaters in her latest film, On The Road.

Directed by Walter Salles and adapted from Jack Kerouac’s beat generation classic of the same name, Stewart appeared at a screening for On The Road at The Landmark theater in Los Angeles last night.

Stewart will be one of an array of Hollywood stars guesting at the 12-12-12-concert. Other guests include Jimmy Fallon, Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Seth Meyers, Jon Stewart, Susan Sarandon, Sean Combs, Jake Gyllenhall, Leonardo DiCaprio and Quentin Tarantino.

It’s believed Stewart and those mentioned above will either introduce musical acts or say a few words about Hurricane Sandy victims during the fundraiser.

The concert is being promoted by the executives who head the Madison Square Garden Company, Clear Channel Entertainment Enterprises and The Weinstein Company, who also organized a successful concert after the September 11 attacks in 2001.

Hollywood has never been slow to step in when tragedy strikes, and with approximately 600,000 homes destroyed or damaged in New York and New Jersey during the November Superstorm Hurricane Sandy was certainly that.

Pink Floyd will soon have their own channel on Sirius XM radio, following an announcement on Thursday night by Roger Waters, during  Jim Ladd’s late night show.

The L.A. Times reports that Waters said in a statement:

“I can’t think of a better home for the Pink Floyd catalogue, and all the solo stuff, than SiriusXM. How cool for all our fans and what a great way to introduce the work to new generations of listeners.”

The site further states:

“The channel will run May 25-28 on Sirius XM channel 27, and return June 29 to July 8 on Sirius Channel 142 and XM channel 43. It will be available online full-time on channel 802 and for an extended period for smartphones and mobile devices on the Sirius XM Internet Radio App.”

Market Watch, a division of The Wall Street Journal, reports that the channel will feature the band’s music, including their entire albums, and concerts. “The Pink Floyd Channel” is also set to feature solo albums by Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Richard Wright, Nick Mason and Syd Barrett.

According to the Examiner, the channel will be hosted by Jim Ladd, long-time SiriusXM host. Ladd has reportedly been covering interviews with Pink Floyd members since 1979. The channel will also see interviews from all of the Floyd members.

Roger Waters’ announcement comes just a couple of days before his appearance on 60 Minutes, where he will be speaking with  Steve Kroft about his “The Wall” project. The wall stands at three stories tall, and is 140-years across. It is reportedly the main creative force behind the legendary rock band.

According to CBS News, the wall took Waters and his tech team about three years to design and build. It currently accompanies Waters on his world tour. He stated that:

“I think it strikes some chords that may be just beneath surface in most of us. What it’s about, is the walls that exist between human beings, whether… on a family level or on a global level. And I think that resonates with people.”

Look for “The Pink Floyd Channel” to debut on Sirius XM on May 25th.
