While Pattinson’s locks have never been quite as iconic as, say, Bieber’s mop, the British actor’s flowing, non-threatening male hairdo has become sort of synonymous with his Twilight character Edward Cullen.

Now filming has stopped on the Twilight series – at least until later this year, when a sixth movie is to be shot – Pattinson has been freed of any obligation to keep the pretty boy look. The new look is more Cockney-lad-on-the-lash-in-Ibiza.

At the People’s Choice Awards gala in LA, the British actor rocked his closely cut crop as he accepted the award for Best Drama Movie for Water for Elephants. His speech doubled as an opportunity for teen girls around the world to delight/hyperventilate/break down at the sight of the new ‘do.

After being handed the gong by Zacchary Levi and his former Twilight co-star Ashley Greene, Pattinson told the audience at the Nokia Theater:

“Wow. Thank you very much. I don’t know why they asked me to accept it because it’s really a lot of other people as well. When I was doing this movie, I was having so much fun doing it that I was saying to everyone I didn’t even care if anyone saw it. But now that people have seen it and they’re giving awards for it, I’m even more thankful for the whole experience, so thank you guys very much.”

After playing a more than century-old virgin for the series of popular Twilight films, it seems the man who plays Edward Cullen- Robert Pattinson- may have internalized some of the celibate vamp’s sexual hang-ups.

The predecessors to the films- the Twilight books- are notoriously associated with abstinence from sex, and Pattinson has talked about the strangeness of that sort of intimacy in a recent interview. Pattinson was asked about pre-marital sex by German tabloid BZ Berlin, and the Twilight star responded:

“I think that depends on how you grew up. I know people that wouldn’t do anything they regret later on. Everyone has to know for themselves. Sex is such a weird thing because it’s connected to so many emotions. It’s something really personal and that should be respected.”

The books are critiqued- and somewhat rightly so- for their unrealistic depictions of sex both before and after the big deal wedding scene. Both Edward and Bella are virgins prior to their honeymoon, and a significant amount of handwringing occurs over whether Edward’s super vampire strength will harm Bella when they consummate their marriage. Bella- as she does throughout the books- pressures Edward sexually, but after the first time, he destroys the room due to his big deal sexual skills. Bella is unfazed, but Edward begins his cycle of sexual self-hatred anew.

Of the dynamic, Pattinson told the tabloid:

Of course, because Bella and Edward are virgins and because of that we had to create those especially intensive emotions. It means a lot to the fans, that the two of them finally get closer to each other and we were aware of that responsibility.”

Kristen Stewart has been talking up the bond she has with her co-stars in Twilight, leaving a special mention for … no, not real-life boyfriend/on-screen lover Robert Pattinson, but Taylor Lautner, who has played Jacob Black in the film series since 2008.

The 21-year-old says she always does her best to ensure her or Lautner keep in touch, insisting that they bonded strongly on the set of the vampire movie:

“When I don’t see Taylor for a while I take out my phone and call him. It’s not like I see him all the time or every day, it’s just that when you work with people like that, you can give so much. It’s so comfortable, you can do no wrong – they’ve got you. We get along together and I think it shows.”

The 21-year-old actress got close to her 19-year-old co-star while filming the vampire movies. and says phone calls and emails help her keep in touch with Lautner.

Not that Pattinson should be getting too jealous – Stewart says she has become close with all her cast-mates, and believes that such friendship was critical when it came to making so many damn Twilight movies:

“I couldn’t have done this without them. I can’t imagine what this movie would have been if I didn’t have really solid – and always growing – relationships with them.”

Despite scathing reviews from various outlets The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn—Part 1 earned more than six times it’s nearest competitor this weekend with $139.5 million in domestic box office earnings.

That total makes the newest chapter in Stephanie Meyer’s book series the fifth biggest opening weekend movie of all time, yet it still fell short of the last installments $142.8 million weekend.

In second place was Happy Feet Two which took in just $22 million compared to a 2006 take of  $41.6 million during the first week of release.

Rounding out the top five movies for the weekend were:

• Immortals, $12.3 million; down 62% in its second weekend.
• Jack and Jill, $12 million; also in its second weekend, down 52%.
• Puss in Boots, $10.7 million in its fourth weekend.

Does it surprise you to learn that Twilight did so well at the box office despite awful reviews and an ending that much like the final two Harry Potter movies left fans wishing they would have just made one longer movie?

Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart, and Robert Pattinson are on their way to setting a few box office records. The new Twilight movie, Breaking Dawn, brought in $72 million from domestic tickets on opening day, and another $66 million worldwide.

Breaking Dawn‘s box office performance on opening day was the third highest in history. According to the Hollywood Reporter, only Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 and Twilight: New Moon had bigger opening days. When New Moon was released two years ago, it brought in $72.7 million on opening day.

MTV reports that midnight showings helped Breaking Dawn to set box-office records. Breaking Dawn played in more than 3,000 theaters at 12:01 on Friday morning, before adding another thousand location by mid-morning. The new Twilight movie brought in $30.25 million from midnight showings alone.

According to Bloomberg, industry experts are predicting that Breaking Dawn will gross $300 million during the film’s domestic theater run.

Breaking Dawn may be a huge money maker, but critics aren’t too impressed. The movie currently has a score of just 27% rating from more than 136 critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

Dana Stevens at Slate writes:

“By any normal standard, this is a terrible movie, with stilted dialogue and leaden pacing — every 15 minutes or so, the action stops for a musical montage involving slow-motion handsomeness. But the Twilight saga stopped being normal a long time ago.”

Of course, Twilight fans disagree. Fans gave the new Twilight movie a 92% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Want to be the first to see Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn? If you’re reading this, you’re probably out of luck. Fans have been camping out for days in front of the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles for the Breaking Dawn premiere.

The movie will hit theaters worldwide this weekend, but for fans who just can’t wait to witness Edward and Bella’s marriage, the Nokia Theater is the place to be tonight. According to Zap2It, fans have been sitting outside of the Nokia Theater since November 10th in order to get a glimpse of Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner as they walk the red carpet tonight for the Breaking Dawn premiere.

If you can’t make it to the Nokia Theater tonight, you can still catch a glimpse of all the action. MTV.com will be streaming the event live starting at 8 pm ET. (You can see the feed below.) MTV will also play a “never before seen scene” from the movie at 7:56.

Kristen Stewart may have shot to fame as the impassive Bella from the blockbuster Twilight series of books and films, but the actress is arguably known for her- well, lack of range. (This was recently even sent up on Beavis and Butthead in their debut return episode.)

Along with Stewart’s chronic “meh” face, Twilight is notable in a genre that is a sex metaphor for being notoriously sexless. Sexless! The romance novels hardly get any sex until the very last book, only after the lead characters are married, and even then results in a half-breed demon baby that essentially kills one of the main characters, because sex is bad, mm-kay? But it seems that when the sex finally did come to Twilight, in the Breaking Dawn installment, Stewart’s acting ability came to the forefront- and threatened to impede the movies’ squeaky clean appeal.

Both Robert Pattinson and director Bill Condon joked about Stewart’s on-screen prowess, saying that the intensity of the scenes needed to be dulled somewhat despite a firm lack of MPAA guidelines about what constitutes an R-rated sex scene. Condon explained:

“It wasn’t rated R, they don’t rate it.They just say, ‘you know, we’re not hitting a PG yet.’ Frankly it’s a very clinical thing. I’ve been through this before when I was trying not to get an X or NC-17 rating on Kinsey, but because it’s so subjective, they have very specific guidelines.”

The director continued:

“I hate to be clinical, but guidelines on thrusting intercourse. Anything that suggested that- not to make people too excited it was never explicit — but I think any movement that suggests that is what they object to. I suspect that because of the popularity of Twilight we had an even bigger focus.”

The “Twilight” saga stars join Tom Cruise, Denzel Washington, Kevin Costner and an array of other Hollywood greats in getting the special honor.

The handprint ceremony, which was officiated by Jimmy Kimmell and only lasted about 15 minutes, kicked off the beginning of the United States promotion for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 which is slated to hit theaters on on November 18th.

Twilight‘s author Stephanie Meyer was on hand to introduce the trio, and was beyond thrilled to help them celebrate their big day.

“Everything that they expend in the service of these characters is really touching to me,” Meyer said of Robert, Kristen and Taylor. “I’ll never not be grateful for what they’ve done.”

After the ceremony, Kristen Stewart and her two on-screen loves signed autographs for the screaming fans crowded around the theater entrance.

It may be hard to imagine Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson as anything on screen but Bella and Edward after the massive impact the Twilight series of films has had on pop culture.

At the end of the entire Twilight set, the pair will have completed five whole films in the saga: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and parts one and two of the current and last book adaptation, Breaking Dawn. Both Stewart, 21, and Pattinson, 25, shot to international fame after starring in the films (although Pattinson was well-known to fangirls the world over after his role as Cedric Diggory in the Harry Potter films) and are well linked with their characters in the Twilight universe.

That’s not to say the pair haven’t worked outside Twilight obligations- both have been busy with other projects throughout the books’ journey to the silver screen. And somewhat uncharacteristically of stars their age, the real-life couple have kept very quiet about their long-term off-screen romance. But Stewart and Pattinson may ‘come out’ in a bigger way after the last part of Breaking Dawn wraps.

According to a Hollywood source, the couple may star in a film centering around a real life celebrity couple. No actual plot was revealed, however:

“The story revolves around two actors who meet on a movie and fall in love,” says a Hollywood insider.

“The producers want to get an actual couple to plays the leads and Kristen and Robert are top of their list. They are looking for new challenges after Twilight so this may be perfect for them.”

Twilight and Harry Potter star Robert Pattinson caused a massive stir among fangirls when he joked that he and co-star Kristen Stewart may already be married after their wedding scene in the upcoming Twilight saga film Breaking Dawn.

Breaking Dawn is the last installment in the vampire love drama, and covers the (spoiler alert) wedding of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen. Their eternity-ever-after, however, is hijacked by the improbable human-on-vampire pregnancy that occurs roughly ten minutes into the honeymoon, and the lovebirds must deal with the life-threatening horror of giving birth to and raising a vamp-human hybrid.

As you can imagine, there is an elaborate wedding scene in Breaking Dawn that has to occur before Bella and Edward can actually have sex. And it is during this scene, says Pattinson, that the actual in-real-life marrying could have theoretically taken place. Us Weekly quotes Pattinson:

“The wedding scene’s funny because we used a real priest. So technically we are already married because he did all the things you would do in a normal ceremony,” Pattinson, 25, joked during a press conference in Stockholm, Sweden Friday. “So we don’t have a civil union in law, but I guess in the church we are actually married.”

Pattinson also dished at the conference about filming the hotly-anticipated Twilight sex scenes with Stewart. He said:

“It was very charged, but a very tender and sentimental scene. It’s not a scene from the book, so everyone was nervous about doing it right,” he explained. “A ton of other people were nervous. And, Kristen and I were both worried about the shape of our bodies would look on camera. We felt vulnerable.”

But the messages in Twilight perceived by some as anti-sex were not lost on Pattinson. He also opined:

“I’ve never been able to relate to that fear of sex or sexuality. It’s funny that all three movies portray sex as something scary and then, when they have sex in the fourth movie, they have a child with really rather devastating consequences. I’m not sure what they are trying to say. . .never have sex with anyone ever?”

Kristen Stewart, the somewhat expressionless actress known for playing Pants in the Twilight saga, has long been rumored to be dating co-star Robert Pattinson.

Since Pattinson took on the role of Edward, he has been hugely popular with the many screaming, fervent fans of the Twilight films. (Note: someone even invented a chillable Twilight dildo to partially replicate the undead sex experience.) So while news that the two are hot and heavy may not be a surprise, it’s also a big deal to Twilight fangirls.

In a recent interview, Stewart responded to a question about England by saying “my boyfriend’s British,” and then realized her slip. When pressed about it the next day, she admitted that she meant for the comment to be off the record, but that its easily confirmed she and Pattinson are an item:

“I never would have said that if I knew you were interviewing me,… So much of my life is so easily Googled. I mean, it’s like, ‘Come on guys, it’s so obvious!’”

Stewart continues:

“I don’t think you realize what a big deal it is for people. Well, it is a big deal. They would be ‘Oh. My. God.’ There would also be still a 50/50 split… Some people would still be, ‘See, told you they’re not together.’”

The actress explains her reticence, and says that discussing her relationship has no palpable return for herself or her fella:

“I’m selfish. I’m like, ‘That’s mine!’ And I like to keep whatever is mine remaining that way. It’s a funny little game to play and it’s a slippery slope. I always say to myself I’m never going to give anything away because there’s never any point or benefit for me.”

Breaking Dawn is out on November 18th in theaters.

Twilight star Robert Pattinson is venturing away from his acting career long enough to take on a music gig. According to reports the British actor is recording some tracks for an upcoming album.

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times Pattinson revealed:

“Music is my backup plan if acting fails. I don’t want to put all my eggs in one basket.”

Pattinson will begin recording his album in the next few weeks and according to a snoop who spoke with Us Weekly Pattinson will play guitar and the album will feature a bluesy sound.

According to another source:

“The album Rob will make will be guitar-based and drums, very organic-sounding, nothing pop.”

It’s not the first time Robert Pattinson has tackled the world of music, he contributed the songs “Never Think” and “Let Me Sign” to the Twilight soundtrack.

Robert Pattinson may be one of the biggest A-listers on the planet at the moment but that wasn’t enough for him to land the lead role in the Jeff Buckley biopic Greetings From Tim Buckley.

The actor expressed interest in the role and even help preliminary meetings with producers, however the role ultimately went to Gossip actor Penn Badgley.

“To play a man who was singularly gifted as an artist, greatly misunderstood and mythologized as a human being…It’s something very special and sacred. I’m going to give all I can to this project.”

It wasn’t just Pattinson who lost out on the role, also thrown out of the running were James Franco, Jared Leto and James Marsden, all of who would have been likely capable in the role. I for one would have loved to see James Franco take on Buckley’s bigger than life mythology.

In a big twist for the movie, film co-producer Orian Williams recently told the L.A. Times, ”Penn isn’t involved in the film at all?” Perhaps he was just messing with the press.

The movie tells the story about Daniel (Pattinson) a boy who has been spending most of his time with longtime crush Charlotte who he has learned is pregnant. Daniel soon realizes that he’s struggling with Charlotte’s pregnancy but finds himself on a 9-month journey with his crush and three independent outspoken women.

In the movie Reese plays the wife of a circus leader who falls in love with a carnival hand (Pattinson).

Witherspoon spoke with In Touch Weekly and gave them the rundown of what happened:

“Rob possibly had the most hideous horrible cold of any co-star I’ve ever had to do a love scene with ever in my entire life,” while adding, “He was literally snorting and snotting through every second of it – and it was not appealing. I’m talking green, infectious, disgusting – I’m not kidding! I’m going to say it’s a little bit of a downer. I was a little disappointed. It wasn’t sexy.”

She thinks she has it bad, when he was sick Kristen Stewart probably had to deal with his slobbering in real life.

Members of the paparazzi are lucky Robert Pattinson isn’t a real life vampire because apparently he wants to beat the (censored words) out of them.

Pattinson recently told Elle Magazine:

“When the whole thing dries up and there’s hardly any paparazzi around – I don’t know, in 15 years or something – I like the idea of just one paparazzo coming out and trying to get a picture, and I just beat the s— out of him.” Pattinson goes on to add, “I mean, out of nowhere, when my picture’s not even worth [money], and I’ve spent all my money, so you can’t sue me!”

As for right now Pattinson is focused more on “outsmarting” the paparazzi, such as during his recent Venice Beach trip in which:

“A bunch of paparazzi were following me, and I thought the best way to deal with it was to stop my car in the middle of the street and say, ‘I’m not leaving, and I’m not going to speak to you anymore,’ ” he says. “They got all pissed off because they can’t just keep taking the same picture.”

For there part the paprazzi tried to get back at Pattinson:

“They kept trying to get all these drug dealers to come up to the car. I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is insane.”

This could be a long love/hate relationship between Robert and his following closely behind photographers.

Reese Witherspoon disclosed some not-so-flattering opinions about Twilight star and former Cedric Diggory Robert Pattinson to press recently.

Pattinson and Witherspoon are an on-screen couple in the upcoming film Water for Elephants, and Witherspoon said Pattinson’s hygiene leaves something to be desired. She did qualify it by calling “boys” in general filthy creatures, though:

“Well, it’s a boy thing, right? To have dirty fingernails and dirty hair, and his clothes were dirty all the time,” Reese said. “It was a nice escape for him to be tan and in the sun all the time instead of the vampire gear.”

Overall, Reese said, R.Pattz is a total professional:

”He’s dedicated. And he loves what he does… It’s amazing, he got such an incredible opportunity so young and he intends to use every bit of it to make creative choices from here on out.”

Pattinson didn’t make any comments about his co-star’s hygiene, and described her in slightly more flattering terms:

“I don’t know if she puts an effort into creating a nice aura, but her mood dissipates over the whole set. It was a completely different environment from when she wasn’t there,” Rob explained. “All the kids and the animals were just drawn to her.”

Water for Elephants is due out in late April.

Vampire heartthrob Robert Pattinson is reportedly Courtney Love’s first choice to play iconic Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain in a “Nirvana biopic” tentatively titled All Apologies.

Love, who has famously disagreed on many things with Cobain’s bandmates Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic in the years since Cobain’s death, is said to strongly favor Pattinson for the role of her late husband. Love is reportedly eying up Scarlett Johansen for the role of Courtney.

RadarOnline is quick to point out that the project could help bail Love out of money problems she’s had in the past few years:

“This is a big money deal for Courtney — she has agreed to the film on condition that she gets to decide the main aspects of the project including director, casting, screenplay and music,” the source said. “Robert has been calling and emailing her non-stop… she has been a bit wound up by his manners, but he is her number one choice to play Kurt.”

Love’s decisions in the handling of her husband’s image after his death have been somewhat controversial. She protested the inclusion of his music in Guitar Hero 5 vehemently until it was revealed that she’d actually approved the portrayal and had even been actively involved.

Judging by all the fun everyone had with John Mayer’s raunchy Playboy interview and very public, teary mea culpa, de-muzzled celebrities are an endless source of lulziness.

Robert Pattinson, the Harry Potter alum who now plays Edward Cullen in the screen adaptations of the Twilight novels, is a particularly fantastic source of interview WTF quotes. Pattinson famously dissed the character’s creepiness in an interview for E!, saying:

When I read it, it seemed like (grimaces) I was convinced that … Stephenie was … convinced that she was Bella, and uh, and you, it wasn’t, it was like it was a book that wasn’t supposed to be published, like reading her … her sort of sexual fantasy about some — especially when she says that it was based on a dream, and it’s like, “Oh, then I had a dream about this really sexy guy” and she just writes this book about it, and there’s some things about Edward that are just so specific that it’s like, I was just convinced that, that this woman is mad, she’s completely mad, and she’s in love with her own fictional creation and I — sometimes you, like, feel uncomfortable reading this thing, and I think a lot of people feel the same way, that it’s kind of voyeuristic, ah, and it creates this sick pleasure in a lot of ways.

This week, Pattinson got a bit crass in Details, and everyone’s running with one particular quote his Pattziness dropped in the interview:

“I really hate vaginas. I’m allergic to vagina. But I can’t say I had no idea, because it was a 12-hour shoot, so you kind of get the picture that these women are going to stay naked after, like, five or six hours. But I wasn’t exactly prepared. I had no idea what to say to these girls. Thank God I was hungover.”

…and a thousand Twilight induced Valentine’s Day girl-wank sessions ground to a screeching halt. What does that mean, everyone wondered, as the quote ricocheted through the gossip blogosphere? Is R-Pattz just a coochie hater, or does he like boy equipment better? The interview immediately segued to elephants and candy, so nobody knows.

He’s genuinely startled. “I do?”

According to reports circulation, Robert Pattinson was found dead in his hotel in New York City due to a heroin overdose.

Notably, perhaps highlighting that there’s only so many ways you can fake kill a celebrity, the same rumor circulated nearly 12 months ago to the day.

For the record, Robert Pattinson is not dead, Robert Pattinson has not died, although we sincerely wish he career (along with the whole Twilight series) would.
