Out of the “is he/she or isn’t he/she” celebrities, Queen Latifah is often mentioned as among the possibly closeted.

Rumors about Latifah’s sexuality have swirled ever since she hit it big, and intensified when she played a lesbian in the popular mid-90′s film Set It Off. The rapper turned actress has also long been suspected of having a relationship with her trainer, Jeanette Jenkins.

Whispers about Latifah’s personal life are intensifying now that the character she plays in Single Ladies has a minor gay subplot:

On Single Ladies, her character discusses the pros and cons of sexual anonymity, saying initially that network executives backed away from her fictional talk show. But later in the episode she returns to Val with a scheme to pretend they’re in a relationship because she’s now discovered that “gay is the new black.” The character reveals, “Being gay is fabulous…I have six new Facebook fan pages. And for every sponsor that falls out, I’ve gotten two more.”

While the question of Latifah’s sexuality is often posed, it shouldn’t override her amazing work. Coming out is a personal decision, and Latifah’s personal life is her own business. Without a doubt, the uncontested star of the 2011 BET Awards was Chris Brown, who took home five trophies, including male R&B artist, video of the year and best collaboration for his song “Look at Me Now” featuring Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes.

Later on in the show, Justin Bieber made an appearance along side of Nicki Minaj — who took home the prize for best female hip-hop artist — to present the best male hip-hop artist award.

Before he announced the winner (which was Kayne West), the biebs flirted with 26 year old Minaj saying: “So next year I’ll be 18. What’s up?” Nicki responded by asking if he was allowed to drive yet and when he confirmed that he could, she threw in the suggestive question, “Can you handle curves?”. Not missing a beat, Bieber — smiling widely — said “Yes I can!”

Near the end of the show, Queen Latifah, who also hosted the 2010 BET awards show, honored Gil-Scott Heron — the famous black musician/poet who died earlier this year — by reciting his famous poem “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised.” Latifah boldly proclaimed, “the revolution will not be televised. No, the revolution will be live.”

The BET Awards 2011 will kick off tonight at L.A. Shrine Auditorium at 8 p.m. / 7 p.m Central.

Among the shows top performers are, Queen Latifah, Bruno Mars, Ledisi, Justin Bieber, Gladys Knight, Nicki Minaj, Taraji P. Henson, Ne-Yo, & La La Anthony

Before the show BET will how several pre-show performances by Miguel, Swizz Beatz & Eve, Lloyd, Lil Twist, Diggy Simmons, YC, Mindless Behavior and Tyga, along with internet hit maker Karin.

The show will also include a new”Social Media Lounge” which will be hosted by La La Anthony which will be integrated with the LIVE broadcast and allow users to follow the BET Awards ’11 from Twitter and Facebook while checking out celebrity interviews and reading information from insiders.

Hollywood stars being robbed is the new latest fashion trend, another day another star being robbed. Today news reports emerge that Queen Latifah’s entourage has been robbed at the luxury resort they are staying in while holidaying in Tobago, Trinidad.

Trinidad’s Newsday is reporting:

Hollywood star and Grammy Award winning singer Queen Latifah has fallen prey to thieves who stole more than US$10,000 (TT$65,000) in jewelry from the popular American entertainer’s luxury villa in Tobago where she has been staying for the Christmas holidays.

Queen Latifah, whose real name is Dana Elaine Owens, arrived in Tobago last week for the Christmas holidays and checked into the villa under the name Cynthia Hadden. She gave her address as California.

Reports are the 35-year-old star, who received an Academy Award nomination for a supporting role in the movie Chicago, is staying at the villa with a female friend.

The identity of the female friend staying with Latifah, who was robbed, is unconfirmed but the smart money is on personal trainer, and speculated lover, Jeanette Jenkins.

If the rumors are true, then I’m happy for Queen Latifah and her partner Jeannette Jenkins. According to the current buzz, the two are planning a summer wedding for a small group of family and friends. First Ellen and Portia and now possibly these two? I hope more celebs take advantage of the overturned ban on same-sex marriages in California and get hitched!

Latifah’s also rumored to be planning to adopt soon after the nuptials. I wonder if she still has her eye on 18 children like she announced a year and a half ago?
