Former Libertines singer and guitarist Pete Doherty is back in jail, an expected to stay for six months.

The troubled musician has been in and out of jail over the past decade several times, and still can’t seem to stay out of trouble. At Doherty’s sentencing, Judge David Radford blasted the rocker for his “appalling record” of drug offenses. Radford spoke of the pain caused by the death of associate Robin Whitehead from a drug overdose, the event that precipitated Doherty’s most recent arrest for possession- but Radford did indicate Doherty was not responsible for the tragedy:

“The offences involved the social supply of crack cocaine in a crack cocaine pipe, which you handed to that person.

“I make it clear though, abundantly clear, that the young woman’s death was not caused by that supply of crack cocaine.

“Unhappily and tragically that woman died from the poisoning of another illegal class A drug which she had chosen to take.

“The grief and loss to her family and friends caused by her death cannot and should not be sought in any way to be expiated by the sentence I pass today.”

Doherty, whose scheduled gig for tonight in Glasgow has been canceled, was said to have been impassive when the sentence was handed down.

Oh, Pete Doherty.

The so-wrongly-attractive former Libertines frontman was arrested again today, while in actually already in court escaping jail time for a DUI charge. “Moments” after avoiding a sentence for what the Brits call “drink driving,” officers descended on Doherty in the corridors at at Gloucester Crown Court. Doherty, all addict-adorable and disheveled-looking in a three piece suit torn at the crotch, was lead from the courthouse across the street to the police station after cops allegedly found a baggie of something or other on the singer during a standard security check-in.

An onlooker described the incident to NME:

“He was being frisked by a security officer and when he emptied his pockets a clingfilm wrap fell out,” the onlooker said. “The security man picked it up and saw it contained what looked like little blue crystals. The security man phoned the police and about six officers came over and waited to arrest Doherty when his case was over.”

Doherty’s secondary arrest was confirmed to press by a Gloucestershire Constabulary spokeswoman:

‘A 30-year-old Wiltshire man has been arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a controlled substance. He is currently assisting police with their inquiries.’

The Libertines, the band fronted by Carl Barat and Pete Doherty and famously torn apart by Doherty’s fondness for heroin and crack, will finally reform, according to Contact Music.

The band, which was wildly popular in the early part of the 2000s, was featured as frequently in gossip columns as in music press for Doherty’s near-constant scandals, with bouts in rehab and jail and a contentious relationship with Kate Moss. (She was in Doherty’s company when she was filmed snorting coke in a recording studio in 2005.) The relationship between Barat and Doherty degraded throughout 2004 and by the end of that year, Barat had dissolved the band rather than continuing on without Doherty. Doherty has since played with his band Babyshambles, while Barat has been involved with band Dirty Pretty Things.

Although Barat said earlier this month that he was too busy to reunite with the Libertines, it has been reported that the band will be reforming in 2010.

Sigh. This news is about as surprising as Amy Winehouse buzz: Pete Doherty supposedly overdosed in Austria at the end of last week. Remember that porno theater where Pete was going to show his expose memoir with tidbits about Kate Moss and various paramours? Yeah, he collapsed before his performance there, and The Sun reports that it could have been due to overdose:

“He had reportedly been on a huge bender at his promoter Bettina Aichbauer’s farmhouse. She called an ambulance and he was revived — but the gig had to be delayed four hours. The BABYSHAMBLES frontman refused hospital treatment and managed to play his gig. Last night his agent refused to comment.”

Anyone surprised? Anyone?

Pete Doherty is the worst ex-flame ever, even more so than John Mayer. While John’s flapping his trap all over town, Pete’s planning on debuting a “tell-all biography home video” at an Austrian adult theatre in Gaz. According to a friend who’s already seen the vid, “Some of it is very revealing.”

The grunge factor in combination with sexual factoids about Kate Moss and Amy Winehouse has got to be riveting, in the whole so-terrible-I-can’t-stop-watching way.

I know Pete Doherty is in a band and must create things from time to time besides horrid videos, but my eyebrows raised a couple of notches when I read about his “intensely personal” autobiography that will apparently cover his torrid 18-month relationship with supermodel Kate Moss.

It makes much more sense that Pete has enlisted help from Sean Boru, who also collaborated with other famous types like Michael Carroll and Alex Higgins on their bios. Boru told The Daily Star that “The whole premise of the book is Pete talking about Kate Moss and the sex and drugs and rock’n’roll lifestyle they shared.” (I would like to know a little bit about Kate behind the scenes, although Pete I could do without.)

So poor Pete won’t need exhaust himself, use up his creative juices, or pick his brain too much, then. Close one! He can go back to filming after all.

That is a rhetorical question, of course, but I have a feeling that Pete Doherty could care less about our delicate sensibilities. As if playing with his creepy mice and Amy Winehouse wasn’t enough (*shivering*), he has now taken the opportunity to show us that he’s not as dirty as we all thought. One question, though: if you film yourself doing something, doesn’t that usually make it a special, unusual, or an otherwise momentous occasion by default? Yeah, I don’t think he bathes much.

On another note, how bad are you feeling for his cat now? It has to watch him do stuff like this all the time, and from what I can see, it lives in one of the creepiest environments you could imagine.

Pete Doherty of Babyshambles and Amy Winehouse-wooin’ fame could be in trouble after one of his cats allegedly met a mysterious death. This comes, of course, after one of his other pussies was taped possibly getting hits from a specially made crack pipe last year. Just yesterday Pete stumbled into a gig in Brixton Mass after an announcement was made that one of his cats had “gone crazy,” and told the crowd “Sorry I’m late. But considering I’ve had to bury one of my cats at the roadside I’ve done pretty well to be here.”

I hope that means that the RSPCA got the messages, too, because he could be up to his old tricks. His rep later said that he was joking, but his track record sucks.
