I am all for protecting animals but as far as I am concerned the methods used by PETA are questionable at best and disgusting in general. This ad is a perfect example of disgusting.

Bob Barker declares war on Edmonton Zoo over an elephant

Legendary American game show host Bob Barker has declared war on zoo in Edmonton, Canada after officials refused to agree to move its resident elephant.

Barker, who these days is an animal rights activist, is trying to relocate Lucy the elephant to an animal sanctuary in California run by the Performing Animals Welfare Society or PAWS. Zoo officials though claim that she is not well enough to make the trip.

Despite Veterinarian James Oosterhuis telling officials that a move would kill Lucy “after discovering her nose and trunk were so swollen it was forcing her to breathe through her mouth,” Barker plans to take the fight to move Lucy to court.

Barker told CBC News that PETA has retained a well-known Toronto lawyer, to represent them. “The zoo is absolutely implacable” said Barker. “They won’t consider even saying that when Lucy is feeling well that we can take her to the sanctuary.”

PETA Petition to put 10 Tons of Pig Poop on Ohio Statehouse Steps Denied

Ahhh, our old friends over at PETA (People for the Ethical blah blah…) applied to the Ohio Capital Square Review and advisory board recently for permission to put 3,500 gallons of pig excrement and urine on the Ohio Statehouse steps, along with fans to spread the smell around. They were, of course, denied.

PETA retaliated by submitting a letter to the Statehouse Executive Director requesting a formal review of the denial. The premise behind their smelly protest was to bring awareness that swine flu and other diseases are spread from animals to humans on crowded pig farms. Their message was to be that the only real way to protect the health of humans was to go vegetarian. No demand for pigs = no pig farms.

It would have been interesting to watch a crowd of vegetarians unloading about 10 tons of pig crap and throwing it around on a hot muggy day though.

PETA continues Sea Kitten campaign, targets Phish

The recently reunited band Phish are the latest targets of PETA’s ridiculous Sea Kittens campaign.

Like those targeted before it, PETA wants Phish to change its name to Sea Kittens to highlight the plight of fish, which they claim are smart and sensitive animals worthy of care and protection.

The fun fact from this current outbreak of stupidity is that PETA was forced to admit its current success rate for the campaign….which is 0%. No official word from Phish yet, although if PETA can’t convert a band that proudly boasts that they are modern day hippies, they’ve got a high hope in hell with anyone else.

To be fair to PETA though, I am sympathetic to their cause. Fish should be treated with dignity and respect in the same way that chicken should, because as many have already discovered, a hormone free, free range chicken is far tastier than one that has been stuck in a cage.

Stupidity has no bounds: PETA criticizes Obama over fly swatting incident

Animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has criticized US President Barack Obama for swatting a fly on television.

In an interview with CNBC Tuesday, the fly show no respect to the commander in chief, nor was any returned when Obama killed the fly in one smack.

PETA has sent Obama a “humane” bug catcher that allows users to trap a fly then release it outside. A PETA spokesperson said that I” guess it can’t be said that President Obama wouldn’t hurt a fly” and that the incident proves that Obama “isn’t the Buddha, he’s a human being, and human beings have a long way to go before they thik before they act.”

Ironically the PETA spokesperson made mention of her cats in the release about Obama; cats are well known for killing other animals, but what’s a little hypocrisy when you’re trying to defend the rights of a fly.

PETA whack-jobs at it again – this time against fish flinging

It never fails, just when you think things might be quieting down on the old animal rights front those whacky folks at PETA show us once more just how loony they really are. However this time it has nothing to do with semi nude famous people doing stupid things (sorry guys no free peep shows this time). It turns out that the things that has raised the ire of PETA this time around is an and age old tradition at The Pike Place Fish Market in Seattle.

While the fishmongers and customers alike have no problem with this flying fish act PETA on the other hand says we should be showing some respect for those dead fish.

Asserting that the practice of lobbing fish above the heads of patrons and tourists at the market and other venues is disrespectful to creatures that already have gone through a lot, an animal rights group is protesting plans to stage a flying-fish exhibition at an upcoming national veterinarians conference in Seattle.

Ultimately, they would like to see the practice banned at the fish market too. They argue that tourists would not be nearly so eager to snap photos if dead kittens or gutted lambs were sailing over their heads.

"Killing animals so you can toss their bodies around for amusement is just twisted," said Ashley Byrne, senior campaigner for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals in Washington, D.C.

Okay, here’s a hint – the fish are dead. They don’t care anymore that they are going to end of as fillets and yet these idiots seem to think that dead fish need respect. I tell you what you bunch of twits why don’t you expend your energies on things that do deserve respect – like homeless children, abuse women and the other more important individuals who need help.

But no you think that the so-called dignity of dead fish deserve more respect – no wonder you’re a bunch of losers.

The KFC logo you could probably see from space

I’m not sure if this is meant as a reminder of home for those folks up in the International Space Station but I’m sure it’s big enough that they’ll be able to see it without any problems. I’m just waiting for PETA to get all hot under their vegan collar and put their logo right next to it.

There’s no word that I can find if this is the real thing or just a photoshopped deal but you can see them here on someone’s Flickr stream.

Dog-O-Matic Dog Washing Machine – What will PETA say about this?

A french inventor, Romain Jarry, has invented a dog washing machine called the Dog-o-Matic, which can best be deacribed as hybrid laundry machine/car wash for dogs.

There’s one Dog-O-Matic machine in operation right now in France and it’s been so well received by dog owners that the inventor is planning on expanding into the UK. Basically, the Dog-O-Matic works like a washing machine at your local laundromat. You choose the wash, rinse and dry cycles according to your dog’s size and type of fur, pay the fee which varies between $20 and $45 USD, put your dog inside and close the door. It takes about 20 minutes to fully complete the wash and dry cycles and bingo, squeaky clean dog.

In the photos, the dog inside the machine looks terrified but the inventor says dogs love it and there’s never been an injury to any dogs yet as a result of being in the machine.

Wait til PETA gets wind of the Dog-O-Matic and sees photos of the traumatized dogs.

PETA’s Pothole Patch Poultry Protection Ploy runs afowl of City Staffers

Chattanooga, TN, has accepted a donation of $3,000 from KFC Corp. to help fix potholes throughout the city, but PETA has offered to double the donation in exchange for the opportunity to depict KFC as advocates of animal torture.

On Wednesday of last week, city workers were out spray painting new asphalt covering potholes repaired by the money donated by KFC Corp. The temporary chalk markings said “Re-freshed by KFC” and included the KFC logo.

PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), contacted the city and offered to donate double what KFC did for pothole repairs as long as the markings said “KFC Tortures Animals.”

Richard Beeland, spokesman for Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield, said the city would not accept the offer from PETA.

“We are not going to place ourselves into the middle of an argument between PETA and the KFC Corp.”

Chattanooga is not the only city that has refused PETA’s donations. Warren, Ohio, accepted donations from KFC for road repairs and also received a $6,000 counter-offer, as well as an offer to feed city workers vegetarian lunches.

Vegetarian lunches? Somehow, I don’t think a road repair crew consisting of big burly construction workers raking 180 degree asphalt in the scorching summer heat would be too interested in cucumber sandwiches and veggie sticks. A bucket of extra crispy and a cold beer on the other hand…

Oh those silly (stupid) folks at PETA are at it again

I am not ashamed to tell the world that I think that PETA as an organization is nothing but a waste of fresh air. They have come up with some of the stupidest advertising campaigns and is run by a loony bin (in my opinion only). That doesn’t stop them from continuing to stretch their credibility on a regular basis.

Such is the case with a new advertising campaign that PETA is rolling out that ahs something to do with discouraging people from buying cats and dogs at pet stores. Their reasoning being that all these pet store are nothing more than fronts for puppy and kitten mills. On the surface this isn’t such a bad idea but it is their implementation that strikes me as utterly stupid.

It appears that some-one at PETA got the mind numbing brainwave and approached the Pet Shop Boys, a pop band icon, to see if they would join in the campaign. As part of them joining this person suggested as well to draw attention to the campaign that the band change their name to Rescue Shelter Boys.

About the only response that one could give to this is – WTF?

Luckily thought the band declined to go along with the idea but of course the PETA flacks are spinning the band’s reaction as a positive thing

Neil Tennant, who posted this, showed that the Pet Shop Boys are just as smart as their lyrics and appreciate PETA’s creative ways of bringing issues to the public."

Cloris Leachman likes her vegetables

82 year old Oscar winner Cloris Leachman is appearing in a new campaign for PETA promoting vegetarianism.

Leachman appears in the ad (above) wearing a gown made of green and red cabbage. in probably one of the more classier PETA ads we’ve seen so far (at least she’s not naked.)

Leachman has been a vegetarian for 50 years, saying that since giving up meat she has felt “a million times better.” The PETA campaign comes ahead of the launch of her tell all autobiography in April.

Pamela Anderson and her lettuce bikini out to save roadside chimps

I am against the mistreatment of any animal for any reason as the next person. Especially when it comes to these roadside petting zoos that have become homes to many apes and chimps in Florida. I can also appreciate the fact that famous people – and semi famous – are trying to lend their name power to get things like this changed. However the idea of Pamela Anderson dressed up in a lettuce leaf bikini isn’t exactly what I would call anything more than an attention getting move for her and PETA.

One would think that the words of Betsy Stewart would be enough to see this type of animal treatment done away with

Chimps that live in the tourist attractions often are confined in very small spaces, with no interaction between them. Betsy Swart wrote an article titled Chimp Farm, after visiting a chimp ‘zoo’, ”They live in the most barren and squalid conditions imaginable. They have nothing to play with — except perhaps their own faeces. ”

Big in Spain: Horse Wrestling

From the country that gave the world bull fighting comes an apple fed tail of galloping delight: horse wrestling.

Rapa das Bestas, or in English the “horse wrestling festival” is an “ancient” annual event held in Galicia, Spain. Untamed horses are gathered in a corral, where men and women of all ages wrestle them to the ground with their bare hands to cut their manes and tales out and brand them. And just because one day of horse wrestling is never enough, the festival goes for three days.

Now I’m no PETA loving hippy, but wrestling horses with your bare hands? WTF?

PETA nutbar gives permission to use her feet as umbrella stands

You can’t even come close to making stuff like this up – with or without drugs – but apparently Ingrid Newkirk, the president of PETA, has made out her last will and testament. If you thought that PETA was a bunch of screwballs before wait until you get a load of this abridged list

a. That the “meat” of my body, or a portion thereof, be used for a human barbecue, to remind the world that the meat of a corpse is all flesh, regardless of whether it comes from a human being or another animal, and that flesh foods are not needed

b. That my skin, or a portion thereof, be removed and made into leather products, such as purses, to remind the world that human skin and the skin of other animals is the same and that neither is “fabric” nor needed.

c. my feet be removed and umbrella stands or other ornamentation be made from them, as a reminder of the depravity of killing innocent animals, such as elephants, in order that we might use their body parts for household items and decorations;

d.That one of my eyes be removed, mounted, and delivered to the administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as a reminder that PETA will continue to be watching the agency until it stops poisoning and torturing animals.

e. That my pointing finger be delivered to Kenneth Feld, owner of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, or to a circus museum to stand as the “Greatest Accusation on Earth” on behalf of the countless elephants, lions, tigers, bears, and other animals who have been kidnapped from their families and removed from their homelands

PETA Super Bowl Ad Banned. Forgive me if I don’t get upset

A Super Bowl ad from animal rights nazis PETA has been banned for being too sexy.

The PETA video shows lingerie clad women playing with vegetables, with a statement that vegetarians have better sex.

NBC said it had killed the ad as it “depicts a level of sexuality exceeding our standards.”

I’m not sure, having watched it, why though? If they’d been playing with bacon, I might have got turned on, but all I see is near naked hippies with vegetables.

Mickey Rourke Says Actors Should Shut Up About Politics, Then Appears in a PETA Ad

Comeback kid Mickey Rourke, one of the few conservative leaning actors in Hollywood believes actors should shut up about politics, but apparently that rule doesn’t apply to him.

Rourke told GQ magazine that “Actors should shut up about politics, because they tend to be ill-informed finger-pointers who just cozy up to some flavor-of-the-month liberal, you know?”

In the same interview he defends George W Bush, and talks about politics, which is a little hypocritical in itself, but then we find today that he’s featuring in a PETA campaign.

Now his choice of PETA campaign is actually a good one (as opposed to say sea kittens): desexing dogs to prevent unwanted puppies, but still, didn’t he say that actors shouldn’t be talking about politics?

PETA Asks Schools with Fish Names to Change Name to Sea Kitten High School

As part of a campaign to stop people eating fish, PETA is asking American schools with fish names to change their names to Sea Kitten High School.

The sea kittens campaign, launched in October last year, argues that calling fish sea kittens will make people think twice about eating fish, because fish have feelings as well.

Schools asked by PETA to change their names so far are Whitefish High School in Missoula, Montana and Spearfish High School in Spearfish, South Dakota.

PETA said in a statement that “If [the schools] became Sea Kitten High and everyone in town starts calling fish ’sea kittens,’ fewer of these gentle animals would be violently killed for food, painfully hooked for ’sport,’ or cruelly confined to aquariums. Schools strive for achievements in academics and sports, so why not add compassion to the list?”

German Farmer Molests Chicken on Live TV: With Video

A bachelor farmer in a German reality series has sexually assaulted a chicken on live TV in order to impress a female contestant. The bachelor, a farmer called Hansi, lived up to his name by fiddling with a chicken. With his finger. <>

Hansi who is also a nudist, is 71, which somehow makes this story even more revolting.

Footage of him shown using his finger to sexually stimulate his chickens was broadcast to 8.6 million viewers as part of the final episode.

He told his reality TV girlfriend: “I do what the cockerel would usually do, only with my finger. It is like an orgasm for the chicken.” The farmer added: “Hansi is always happy when the chickens are happy.”

Now PETA is upset. A PETA spokesperson said the behavior was unacceptable and lodged an official complaint.

The woman, Marianne 66, whom Hansi was trying to impress and hoping to marry told reporters, “You always hear jokes about what lonely farmers do to their animals. I am disgusted. This is not my world.”

Luckily Hansi doesn’t have any sheep. The guy is a dirty, mother plucker.

Now PETA wants to ban horse drawn carriages

Actress Kristen Johnston is the face on a new campaign for PETA that is attempting to have horse drawn carriage banned.

Johnston appeared nude for the campaign in a Lady Godiva pose per the picture above. Other celebs supporting the cause are Pink, Alec Baldwin, and Chrissie Hynde. The campaign is currently focused on New York, where there are around 100 horse drawn carriages doing the rounds. Johnston says on the matter (via The Gothamist)

“The horses go from this horrible job where they’re pulling people through the streets of Manhattan all day to this tiny jail cell in this building that’s like a cramped parking garage. I’d say to tourists considering coming to New York, there’s so much amazing stuff to do here. But please do something else. I hope within the next year that there are no more horse-drawn carriages.”

Thousands of years of human history, and now PETA wants to ban horse drawn carriages? WTF? No one would argue that some animals may be treated poorly, but if PETA had its way we’d still all be living in caves, or alternatively worshiping animals as gods above humans. Just when you think you’ve seen PETA go to extremes, they out do themselves once again.
