The reality star has been named one of PETA’s ‘Grinches of the Year’ for her ongoing commitment to wearing fur. That’s in stark contrast to her little sis Khloe, who posed naked for her own “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” PETA ad (despite err, wearing fur). Anyway, here’s what PETA had to say about Kim’s fur-ocious appetite for a nice fur … whatever that is in the pic above:

“It took Kim Kardashian just 72 days of marital bliss to shed her husband Kris Humphries. It’s too bad the socialite princess doesn’t have the same penchant for shedding her animal skin collection. Unlike her sister Khloe, who starred in her own PETA anti-fur campaign, Kim just can’t seem to divorce herself from fur and say ‘I do’ to a more compassionate wardrobe.”

*Trying to be outraged by PETA mocking a woman’s broken marriage … can’t … quite … manage … it.*

PETA didn’t stop at Kardashian, however: also on the Grinch list were Janet Jackson and “We Bought a Zoo” director Cameron Crowe. Hell, all three are more deserving of a hysterical PETA campaign than poor old Mario.

If PETA had its way Janet Jackson would be on the naughty list as the singer topped the animal rights’ group list of celebrity grinches this year.

And PETA had some pretty serious words for the Jackson sister.

PETA Writes:

“When Janet Jackson had her infamous “wardrobe malfunction” during the Super Bowl, at least the flesh that popped into view was her own—unlike the stolen animal skins that she drapes herself with, which are as dead as her taste in fashion (not to mention her career). Ms. Jackson, you’re just plain nasty.”

According to StarPulse, Jackson will be launching her own fur line in 2012. Jackson has teamed up with Blackglama to create a luxury mink collection, which will feature everything from coats to gloves.

Jackson said:

“The art of fashion is one of my great passions. I’ve worked for years to bring a collection into the world. Partnering with Blackglama is very exciting.”

Of course, Jackson isn’t the only celebrity to offend PETA this year. Cameron Crowe and Kim Kardashian were both high up on the list of celebrity grinches this year.

PETA took issue with Cameron Crowe’s latest movie, “We Bought a Zoo,” because the movie used real animals instead of state-of-the-art computer imaging, and Kim Kardashian because unlike her sister Khloe she hasn’t starred in her own PETA anti-fur ad.

PETA spokeswoman Wendy Wegner said:

“While the holidays may be known as the season of giving and peace on earth, that’s not always the case for our animal friends.”

The ladies of the lingerie football league are wearing less clothes than normal for a new PETA ad. The “Tackle Cruelty: Bench Fur” ad campaign features a video interview with members of the Chicago Bliss LFL team as well as a nude photo-shoot.

PETA writes:

“The ladies of the Lingerie Football League (LFL) are some seriously tough cookies… These bombshell athletes teamed up with PETA to use their fame and fit figures to show the world that fur should be permanently cut from the roster. They jumped at the chance to draw attention to the millions of animals who are abused and killed for their skins each year.”

The Huffington Post reports that the girls from the Chicago Bliss team also traveled with PETA to a demonstration in Toronto. The girls, in their lingerie football uniforms, carried signs that read “Tackle Cruelty: Bench Fur” and encouraged people to ditch fur this holiday season.

PETA Campaigner Emily Lavender said in a press statement:

“Wearing fur is a personal foul. With so many stylish, warm, and durable fabrics available today, there’s no excuse for wearing anyone’s skin.”

“On fur farms around the world, chinchillas, foxes, minks, raccoons—and even dogs and cats—suffer from the time they are born until their final breath. If you ever really needed proof that PETA was all about attention driven publicity stunts the animal rights group on Friday said they were “just kidding” about their anti-Mario campaign. Earlier in the week the company attacked Nintendo because Mario wears a Tanooki suit make from raccoon dogs.

Speaking about the PETA attack a representative told Kotak that people need to “relax” and realize that it ”was meant to be tongue-in-cheek, a fun way to call attention to a serious issue, that raccoon dogs are skinned alive for their fur.”

Yeah I didn’t think that sounded like a “joke” response given their “just kidding” statement either.

Another representative for PETA told USA Today that the organization was:

“A little surprised that the game was taken so literally by some, but we’re thrilled that we’re able to bring so much attention to raccoon dogs whose suffering is very real … Our spoof is simply making a serious point: that there is a much darker story behind tanuki skins than Mario lets on.”

In reflecting on the issue perhaps PETA should have thought before they came up with their “joke” which simply ended up promoting the game as 250,000 people played with their Tanooki suited character in the last 36 hours.

In other news PETA has petitioned the town of Turkey, Texas to change their name to Tofurky, Texas for Thanksgiving Day, a request that was denied by just about everyone in the town.

PETA in their never-ending attempt to gain publicity for their cause have decided this time to go after an entire town. The animal rights activist group is asking the town of Turkey, Texas to change their name.

So what does the rights organization want the town to be called? How about “Tofurky.”

PETA isn’t asking for a permanent change, they are simply asking that the city changes their name for one day, Thanksgiving.

In a letter to the town’s mayor the group writes:

“If you agree to adopt this moniker for just one day, we’d be happy to provide a delicious, healthy vegan holiday feast for all the town’s residents.”

In their letter the team at PETA says Tofurky is:

“A savory, flavorful, ‘meaty’ vegan entrée with wild-rice and bread-crumb stuffing that is 100% cruelty-free.”

In responding to PETA locals seemed less than impress with one telling ConnectAmarillo.com:

“I think it’s about the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.”

With that type of general reaction it shouldn’t come as a surprise that city officials are rumored to have turned down the request.

If City officials would have said yes other side dishes they would have been enjoying would have included “mashed potatoes (made with vegan margarine)” and “vegan apple pie topped with vanilla dairy-free ice cream.”

This newest publicity stunt is almost as laughable as the Mario Bros. Tanooki suit which PETA decided to go batty over earlier this week, even though Mario’s animal suits have existed for more than a one and a half decades.

PETA Wants “Turkey, Texas” To Change Name To “Tofurky, Texas” is a post from: The Inquisitr

Animal rights group and serial point-missers PETA have a new target in their sights: Super Mario.

The Nintendo mascot has attracted the ire of PETA because he “wears the skin of a raccoon dog to give him special powers.” This, argues PETA, means Mario has a “pro-fur” stance. Yesterday, the not-for-profit group launched its ‘Mario Kills Tanooki‘ campaign, complete with a Flash-based platformer called Super Tanooki Skin 2D, in which a skinless raccoon tries to chase down Mario and get back its hide. They say:

“When on a mission to rescue the princess, Mario has been known to use any means necessary to defeat his enemy – even wearing the skin of a raccoon dog to give him special powers. Tanooki may be just a ‘suit’ in Mario games, but in real life, tanuki are raccoon dogs who are skinned alive for their fur. By wearing Tanooki, Mario is sending the message that it’s OK to wear fur.”

What PETA seems to have forgotten (or plain doesn’t realize) is that ‘tanuki’ dogs have been a part of Japanese folklore since ancient times. Furthermore, the tanuki in Japan is considered a master of disguise and shapeshifting. In short, I seriously doubt pushing a pro-fur agenda was on Nintendo’s mind.

PETA also neglects to mention that nobody in the recorded history of the universe has ever mentally equated with Mario with the skinning of raccoon dogs. Until now, obviously.

Anyway, Nintendo has now responded to PETA’s ranting to Eurogamer:

“Mario often takes the appearance of certain animals and objects in his games. These have included a frog, a penguin, a balloon and even a metallic version of himself. These lighthearted and whimsical transformations give Mario different abilities and make his games fun to play. The different forms that Mario takes make no statement beyond the games themselves.”

Exactly. Now I advise you all go buy Super Mario 3D Land and a Nintendo 3DS. It’s really very good.

Lady Gaga is expected to wear another food dress when she visits India this weekend. Activists from PETA have asked the pop singer to pose in a Lady Gaga lettuce dress to promote vegetarianism.

Lady Gaga hasn’t agreed to the request yet, but dressing up as a head of lettuce seems to be right down Gaga’s alley.

Sachin Bangera of PETA India, said:

“If she agrees, we’ll make her a dress entirely of lettuce and held together by pins and threads. It will be a full length gown, and we’ll make sure it looks sexy… Someone will be on hand to spray the lettuce with water so that it doesn’t wilt.”

And if anyone knows how to make a lettuce dress, it’s PETA. Pamela Anderson, Elizabeth Berkley, and Alyssa Milano have all posed in vegetarian dresses. Of course, they didn’t have to run around and sing.

Reuters reports that Lady Gaga is traveling to India to unveil the country’s first Formula 1 race. While there, Gaga will perform at an invitation-only show in New Delhi, hopefully in a lettuce dress.

Laura Vandervoort is the latest in a long line of celebrities to take her clothes off for animal’s rights. The latest PETA ad, which stars Vandervoort painted to look like a reptile, features the slogan “Whose Skin Are You In?”

Vandervoort, who starred in “Smallville,” and coincidentally, as a lizard on the show “V,” also filmed a short PSA for PETA.

Vandervoort said:

“I want to make people aware that if you want a high end python bag or crocodile… Three or four alligators have to die for each purse. It’s just ridiculous. A lot of people think that reptiles don’t feel, but they do.”

On PETA’s website, the animal rights group explains that lizards can live as long as thirty years, but they are often killed young when they are at a more “marketable” size.

PETA says that several clothing lines have agreed not to sell exotic animal skins. PETA said:

“Popular retailers such as Victoria’s Secret, H&M, Overstock.com, Cole Haan, and Nike have all signed PETA’s pledge never to sell exotic skins.”

PETA has a long history of using woman to promote animal rights. Pamela Anderson, Brooke Hogan, Eva Mendes, and Charliz Theron have all modeled nude for PETA, and the animal rights group is planning on launching its own porn site soon.

PETA has been using sex to get people’s attention for a long time. The non-profit organization, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, has had beauties like Pamela Anderson, Eva Mendez, and recently, Brooke Hogan, strip down to draw attention to animal rights. Now, PETA is upping its game by launching its own porn site.

The PETA porn site, PETA.XXX, will feature plenty of celebrity skin, but according to Lindsay Rajt, PETA’s associate director of campaigns, the site will also show graphic images of animal abuse.

Rajit told the Sydney Morning Herald:

“We’re hoping to reach a whole new audience of people, some of whom will be shocked by graphic images that maybe they didn’t anticipate seeing when they went to the PETA triple-X site.”

PETA’s new porn site will surely bring a lot of attention to animal rights (even if most viewers are distracted by all the nude women) but some people are saying that the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals should be called the People Against the Ethical Treatment of Women, PAETW.

Jennifer Pozner, the executive director of the New York-based advocacy group Women In Media & News, said:

“PETA is extremely disingenuous. They have consistently used active sexism as their marketing strategy to garner attention. Their use of sexism has gotten more extreme and more degrading. This may be in their minds the only thing left at their disposal to lower the bar.”

But Rajt insists that using the female body to spread a message isn’t demeaning, it’s empowering. Rajt says that PETA.XXX, which will become active in December, will make more people aware about animal abuse thanks to naked females.

Rajt said:

“We try to use every outlet that we can to speak up for animals… It’s not a very feminist thing to do to turn to women and tell them whether or not they can use their voices, their bodies to express their voice.”

Brooke Hogan, daughter of famed wrestler Terry “Hulk” Hogan has stripped down in support of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals better known as PETA.

Brooke appears inside a cage for the sultry photo shoot which is meant to show her support for PETA’s I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur campaign which the company started years ago to convince people to stop wearing what some people considered a fashion “accessory.”

It turns out that the event which occurred in Wynwood’s Cafeina Lounge wasn’t actually a PETA sponsored-shoot, although the not-for-profit was happy to have her support, telling the HuffPost:

“The photo shoot that Brooke Hogan participated in was not a PETA-sponsored event. However, we’re grateful to Brooke for participating in the photo exhibition in Miami, for which the proceeds of the photos are going toward PETA’s lifesaving programs.”

Photographer Jordan Michael Zuniga put the shoot together and titled it Women in Cages with the intent of raising awareness about animal cruelty.

While Brooke Hogan wasn’t a PETA endorsed member of the program, PETA has attracted many celebrities to the “naked” campaign including Christina Applegate and Elisabetta Canalis.

Speaking to the Miami New Times Brooke Hogan says she hopes the campaign helps raise more awareness, telling them:

“I hope it shocks them to see a human in the place of an ‘animal.’ We’ve almost gotten past the prejudices and racisms among humans alone, next is animals. We’re all God’s creatures. Just because we don’t speak the same language doesn’t mean they don’t have feelings too.”

No comment from Hulk Hogan at this time.

The billboards; which were previewed today, show Tiger Woods in one of his famous golfer stances along with the words “Too Much Sex Can Be a Bad Thing … For Little Tigers Too. Help Keep Your Cats (and Dogs) Out of Trouble: Always Spay or Neuter! PETA“.

Says PETA Executive VP Daphana Nachminovitch on the unveiling

“Tiger has no formal affiliation with the organization and has not previewed or endorsed the ad but the image and the idea were too good to pass up when it comes to helping find homes for animals who will otherwise be left out in the cold,” PETA Executive Vice President Daphna Nachminovitch in a statement. “People can hit a hole-in-one for their animals by having them spayed and neutered. The millions of cats and dogs born each year in this country without good homes to go to don’t make tabloid headlines, but their suffering is 100 percent real.”

Tiger Woods becomes a spokesperson for PETA – sort of is a post from: The Inquisitr

We’re not huge PETA fans here at The Inquisitr, and although we’re sympathetic to their anti-fur campaign, it’s the other crazy crap they try that lists them up there with the Westboro Baptist Church on our scale of crazies.

But today is a blue moon, and for once we agree with PETA, although maybe not quite for the same reason.

PETA has come out and slammed Kanye West, calling him pathetic after he and his even crazier girlfriend were snapped wearing fur coasts. PETA V.P. Dan Mathews added “Kanye can’t help making himself look like an idiot, whether at an awards show or a fashion show. He and his girlfriend look like pathetic creatures from a shabby roadside zoo.”

We agree with the call, although primarily because it describes Kanye West in general, not specifically because he was wearing fur. And even if he had been wearing fake fur in the picture above, he still looks ridiculous…which he pretty much does on most days.

In a move that I am sure will have the PETA faithful orgasming all over themselves researchers in the Netherlands announced that by the end of five years they will have worked all the kinks out of their ability to create artificial meat.

The current hold back?

Well how about taste and texture. You know those two things that make meat .. well … meat. Apparently vegetarian groups are planting soya beans in celebration while saying that they have no ethical objections because this artificial meat doesn’t come from dead animals (duh!).

Mark Post, professor of physiology at Eindhoven University, said: “What we have at the moment is rather like wasted muscle tissue. We need to find ways of improving it by training it and stretching it, but we will get there.

“This product will be good for the environment and will reduce animal suffering. If it feels and tastes like meat, people will buy it.

“You could take the meat from one animal and create the volume of meat previously provided by a million animals.”

The scientists extracted cells from the muscle of a live pig and then put them in a broth of other animal products. The cells then multiplied and created muscle tissue. They believe that it can be turned into something like steak if they can find a way to artificially “exercise” the muscle.

Legendary American game show host Bob Barker has declared war on zoo in Edmonton, Canada after officials refused to agree to move its resident elephant.

Barker, who these days is an animal rights activist, is trying to relocate Lucy the elephant to an animal sanctuary in California run by the Performing Animals Welfare Society or PAWS. Zoo officials though claim that she is not well enough to make the trip.

Despite Veterinarian James Oosterhuis telling officials that a move would kill Lucy “after discovering her nose and trunk were so swollen it was forcing her to breathe through her mouth,” Barker plans to take the fight to move Lucy to court.

Barker told CBC News that PETA has retained a well-known Toronto lawyer, to represent them. “The zoo is absolutely implacable” said Barker. “They won’t consider even saying that when Lucy is feeling well that we can take her to the sanctuary.”

Ahhh, our old friends over at PETA (People for the Ethical blah blah…) applied to the Ohio Capital Square Review and advisory board recently for permission to put 3,500 gallons of pig excrement and urine on the Ohio Statehouse steps, along with fans to spread the smell around. They were, of course, denied.

PETA retaliated by submitting a letter to the Statehouse Executive Director requesting a formal review of the denial. The premise behind their smelly protest was to bring awareness that swine flu and other diseases are spread from animals to humans on crowded pig farms. Their message was to be that the only real way to protect the health of humans was to go vegetarian. No demand for pigs = no pig farms.

It would have been interesting to watch a crowd of vegetarians unloading about 10 tons of pig crap and throwing it around on a hot muggy day though.

The recently reunited band Phish are the latest targets of PETA’s ridiculous Sea Kittens campaign.

Like those targeted before it, PETA wants Phish to change its name to Sea Kittens to highlight the plight of fish, which they claim are smart and sensitive animals worthy of care and protection.

The fun fact from this current outbreak of stupidity is that PETA was forced to admit its current success rate for the campaign….which is 0%. No official word from Phish yet, although if PETA can’t convert a band that proudly boasts that they are modern day hippies, they’ve got a high hope in hell with anyone else.

To be fair to PETA though, I am sympathetic to their cause. Fish should be treated with dignity and respect in the same way that chicken should, because as many have already discovered, a hormone free, free range chicken is far tastier than one that has been stuck in a cage.

In an interview with CNBC Tuesday, the fly show no respect to the commander in chief, nor was any returned when Obama killed the fly in one smack.

PETA has sent Obama a “humane” bug catcher that allows users to trap a fly then release it outside. A PETA spokesperson said that I” guess it can’t be said that President Obama wouldn’t hurt a fly” and that the incident proves that Obama “isn’t the Buddha, he’s a human being, and human beings have a long way to go before they thik before they act.”

Ironically the PETA spokesperson made mention of her cats in the release about Obama; cats are well known for killing other animals, but what’s a little hypocrisy when you’re trying to defend the rights of a fly.
