The results of a study undertaken in the UK indicate that people over the age of 45 are not only totally doing it, they’re not protecting themselves against diseases transmitted by sexual contact nearly as much as their younger counterparts.

According to the Daily Mail, rates of STD infection (or STIs in the UK) have doubled in those over 45 since 2000, and infections involving chronic conditions have skyrocketed:

No really, Kimberly Broffman, get off of their lawns.

Kimberly, a 6-year-old in the custody of her grandparents, is facing eviction by local law enforcement because her grandparents live in a retirement community. The child has lived in the house her whole life, as her mother is unable to care for her due to unspecified drug problems. Now authorities plan to remove the girl from the only home she’s ever known and place her in foster care with strangers due to a homeowners association policy.

Kimberly’s grandparents, Jimmy and Judie Stottler, have been unable to sell their home and move elsewhere due to the housing market crash. The Stottlers have even lowered the price from $225,000 to $129,000, willing to get completely hosed on the move just to keep their family intact, but no one is buying. The battle has been going on for several years, the better portion of Kimberly’s life, but the Stottlers are of limited resources to fight the situation.

Check out the MSNBC video below, where neighbors of the Stottman’s advocate for tearing the family apart. One woman, who looks like she’s about to start talking boot-straps, cruelly states that Kimberly should be ejected from her home. And the president of the homeowners association looks positively gleeful as he discusses the prospect of getting sheriffs to forcibly remove the small girl. He says in response to a question about who will take Kimberly:

“No, the sheriff will. I will merely be the President of the Board who is trying to enforce the policies of our association that she agreed to when she moved in.”

The mom from The Brady Bunch has a new tech support company, designed to help your grandma follow you on Twitter.

Florence Henderson describes the service as “like roadside assistance for computers,” conceived because until not too long ago, Henderson received a cell phone but had no idea how to do anything other than make a call with it. Now Henderson is all up in her lappity-toppity box, Facebooking and Skyping and generally performing all manner of technological feats. And she wants to get other old people in the game, too.

For $250 a year or $25 a month or $50 an incident, people too old to even know how to Google can call in to the FloH club seven days a week from 8 a.m to 2 a.m. Tech support staff will answer all kinds of questions, teaching the elderly to install iPods, network printers, shop online and e-mail you thirty times a day while embarrassing you on Facebook.

Facebook is older than it’s ever been, and now it’s even older.

iStrategy Labs- the folks responsible for the ads in your Facebook sidebar, pay close attention to demographic patterns on Facebook. And while the group found that less than a million users 55 or over were using Facebook back in January of 2009, more than 5.8 million users fell into that bracket as of July 4th- an increase of 514%.

To further old-ify Facebook, iStrategy Labs also noted that use by college and high school students had dropped 22% and 17% respectively. A long running pop-culture joke, iStrategy labs posited that perhaps younger users were genuinely abandoning the service due to shyness in the presence of older relatives.

However, it was unclear in the report whether events such as graduation or merely disassociating with a school in general were taken into account when tabulating the figures regarding students. If so, it may actually bode well if Facebook hopes to retain younger users, as it could indicate that the service has transcended academic boundaries and is just viewed as an all-purpose social network.

Age notwithstanding, there was one more demographic embracing Facebook in a surprisingly large number- growth in Atlanta, GA jumped 142%.
