As anyone who has played Duke Nukem and they will tell you that they always believed that The Duke would be back and finally after many years and false starts Gearbox is fulfilling that dream starting on June 10 (Internationally) and June 14 (U.S.).

To celebrate they have released a new game trailer for your drooling pleasure; but be forewarned if you have no sense of humor or understand the fascination with The Duke then this might be a tad NSFW.

The umbrella of content deemed Not Safe For Work (NSFW) got a bit bigger this week when the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a biology teacher’s termination over a Google Image Search for the word “blonde.”

While hair color is certainly a relative topic to biology, that didn’t protect teacher Robert Zellner’s job after he turned off safe search and his search term unsurprisingly turned up quite a few pornographic thumbnails, on which he did not click. Muddying the case is the fact that Zellner had just engaged in “constitutionally protected criticism” affecting his employer before the tenuous link leading to his termination was discovered.

Wired lays out the 67 seconds of searching that wound up costing Zellner his job:

First, Zellner disengaged the “safe search” filter. He then typed “blonde” into the Google search box. The search produced 20 “thumbnail” images, all of them pornographic, with links to more images within and outside the Google website. He then clicked to display the next 20 images. Zellner then clicked a link entitled “more of these” adjacent to images from www.ardentes.free.frblonde.com. When Zellner did so, another 20 pornographic “thumbnail” images were displayed on his monitor for a total of 17 seconds. Zellner did not click on any of the photographs displayed in his search. The entire incident took 67 seconds.

Sound like something that could feasibly happen to any employee of any company who uses Google for any purpose? Scarily, the court did, too, but ruled against him anyway:

“While it is abundantly clear that the relationship between the union and the district was contentious, combative and miserable, and that Zellner and the district played a central role in the relationship, Zellner ignores the discovery of his Nov. 6 Google image search,” the appeals court ruled. “It is undisputed that the search violated the district’s policy, that Zellner admitted that he performed the search, and that he knew he violated the policy. Accordingly, the school board had a legitimate, nondiscriminatory reason to terminate Zellner’s employment.”

The court also ruled that the firing was “unrelated” to Zellner’s union activity and critical comments made about the school district in the press. Do you think such a ruling gives employers too much leverage over tenured or otherwise protected employees? Should employees granted internet access at work be held responsible for what the web may or may not spew back at them before they’ve got a chance to close the page? Do we need a work-internet five second rule?

It’s right about that time in the reality-show “celebrity” fame-cycle for Amber Portwood, and on cue, nude pictures of the Teen Mom star have been leaked.

The images (some below) are standard leaked-pics fare, nothing that would really be out of place in Maxim (there’s still Maxim, right?) or on Page 3. Portwood has, of course, swiftly made herself available to comment on the released of the pictures, saying she knows who leaked them and that it wasn’t babydaddy Gary Shirley. Portwood contends:

“I’ve never given anything to anybody. I wouldn’t do that. I know 100 percent who did it, and I’m going to go after them full force…

“…No, no, Gary didn’t do it. He wasn’t around me because of the no contact order when I took those pictures, but there were a bunch of people who were and I’m sure I know who it was.”

Portwood also says the images were a solo job, refuting a claim that a friend of hers was involved:

“Radar Online totally lied… That is my room, that is my bed, my mirror…you can tell that’s my room and when the show [Teen Mom 3] comes out, everyone will see that it’s my room.”

She also said she intends to “surprise” the leaker, so she doesn’t want to identify who she believes it to be just yet. She classily rebuts:

“Those pics were taken for personal reasons… I didn’t send them to anyone. I didn’t take them for sexual reasons. This is embarrassing enough. It’s just weird. The person who did this is f*cked.”

Gaming really has conquered all demographics, eh?

That up there isn’t Kirsten Schaal, as I first thought, but French burlesque performer Lady Tornade, a strip-tease artist from Paris. In between taking her clothes off for bored businessmen, Tornade finds time to stitch these gaming-themed pasties. Yeah, pasties. Apparently that’s the name for those little bits of sequinned fabric covering her nipples.

According to Kotaku, Lady T spends a week hand-crafting each pair, sequin by sequin, and charges between €30 and €40 ($40 - $54) for each.

As you can see, she’s done a Super Mushroom pair, and is proudly modelling her Pac-man pasties below. You can even pay a little more for custom designs – around €60, or $80. The user is supposed to glue these to their chest, and special adhesive is supplied. In case, er, you’re interested in a purchase (first reader to order an Earthbound pair wins a cookie!).

Who would have thought the rapper who out-dirty-mouthed Jay-Z in the seminal 90s hit “Ain’t No *****,” later went to prison for assaulting a nail tech over her tips and who faces more jail time for throwing hair glue at a beauty store employee would end up fellating a man on a fuzzy internet sex tape? Not I, and that track has a permanent place in my iTunes top 25 ever.

Foxy Brown (born Inga Marchand in New York holla!) is the latest celebrity to fall victim to the whole bj-on-a-cameraphone trick, with a short clip making the rounds of Foxy servicing an unidentified man in a less than enthusiastic fashion. The clip is being unimaginatively tagged “Superhead” or “Foxy Brown Superhead” in what I imagine is a reference to Superbad. Wikipedia says Foxy’s got an album coming out later this year, but unlike other strategic leaks, it’s not close to the (as of yet unannounced) release date for Black Roses. And I’d imagine if Foxy was in any way behind this, she’d pick a clip that was more… flattering.

While I can’t say for sure if it’s Foxy, the woman in the clip certainly looks like her. If you want to see for yourself, you can view the short clip here- although, I feel honor bound to mention it is certainly not safe for work .

Well okay maybe it isn’t a business plan but I could see it getting real popular with a certain segment of people on Twitter. The problem is how much will it piss people off. What I am referring to is the graphic at the top of the page which happens to be the Twitter avatar for Rob Corddry who some will recognize – maybe – from the Daily Show.

I found out about this from my friend Paul O’Flaherty when he IM’d me to get my take on this ‘naked’ avatar. My first reaction when he asked was pretty well that it’s a stupid idea and almost guaranteed to get one blocked as a porn spammer or something. That’s when Paul shot me a link to his post about this with the actual avatar being used. This was when he also let me know that Rob Corddry is also one of Twitter’s Suggested Users List – or whatever they’re calling it – so in effect anyone coming on to Twitter is going to see that avatar.

Paul’s question was whether or not I thought Twitter was condoning this type of avatar or as he asked in his post

Now, I’ve got no problem with Rob Corddry flashing his arse on Twitter, if I don’t want to see it I just won’t follow him, but I have to wonder if this is the kind of message Twitter really wants to be sending out – that “nude avatars are okay”.

We’ve seen a massive influx of porn spam on the service and god only knows the numbers of “horny kitties” I’ve had following me lately and if Twitter continues to, both allow the spam and promote Corddry as he flashes his backside to the world, then you can only assume that they endorse the use of such avatars.

Now that I have thought about it for a little bit I don’t think it is a matter of whether Twitter will condone it or not. The fact is I don’t see how they can touch this one with a ten-foot pole. You can almost be assured that if they did and try to step in on this they would face a howl of protest from the more vocal “social media” types on Twitter, especially if they happened to take down someone like Corddry’s avatar.

Sure this might make for a ‘cute’ avatar but really do we need to go this route as an attention getter?
