Nicolas Cage’s Former Business Manager Files Counter Suit

Nicolas Cage’s former business manager has filed a cross complaint in Los Angeles Superior Court against the star.

Samuel J. Levin, who was branded “incompetent” by the actor over his financial advice, which Nicolas claimed has led him towards financial ruin, insists the ‘Con Air’ star was already in deep debt when he hired him in 2001.

In the complaint filed last week, Levin insisted Cage refused to listen to his advice, resulting in him having an unpaid tax bill believed to be around $6 million.

He said, “From the start of our Business Management Agreement he knew about his perilous financial situation and he knew he was behind on paying his taxes.”

The business manager claims he “warned” the actor he needed to earn a minimum of $30 million a year to support his lavish lifestyle and agreed a string of financial objectives which included selling “more than a dozen” of his cars and his $1.6 million comic book collection.

However, following a “string of hit films”, the 45-year-old actor started splashing out again and “set off on a spending binge of epic proportions” and by July 2008 Cage owned 15 homes – including two castles – four yachts, a Gulfstream jet, millions of dollars worth of jewellery and art and an island in the Bahamas.

Despite being warned to slow his spending, the actor went on to buy another 22 cars,- including nine Rolls Royces – three houses, 47 pieces of artwork and exotic item purchases and 12 pieces of expensive jewellery, with Levin claiming his advice was “ignored and rebuked”.

Levin was eventually fired, with the actor filing his original suit shortly after his 2008 tax return was filed.

Last week, Cage lost two of his New Orleans homes due to foreclosure auction.

Nicolas Cage Stalked By A Mime

Nicolas Cage was stalked by a mime artist.

The ‘Bangkok Dangerous’ actor joked about his ordeal at the hands of a “silent but maybe deadly” performer but admitted he found the white-faced stranger “unsettling”.

Nicolas, 45, said, “I guess it would fall into the stalker category more or less.

“I was being stalked by a mime—silent, but maybe deadly. Somehow, this mime would appear on the set of ‘Bringing Out the Dead’ and start doing strange things.

“I have no idea how it got past security. Finally, the producers took some action and I haven’t seen the mime since. But it was definitely unsettling.”

A mime artist performs wordlessly, expressing stories through bodily movement alone, and traditionally paints their face white.

Meanwhile the actor, who is presently facing financial difficulties after being handed an unpaid tax bill of $6 million, has also told of the challenge he faced in portraying a drug-addicted corrupt policeman in ‘Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans’.

He told Parade magazine, “I was trying to find a way to play a guy who was high on crack and other illegal substances and at the same time be responsible and not glamorize the drugs or drug-taking but show the hideous effects.

“I wasn’t exactly sure I could do it, especially being totally sober, which I was. Different kinds of drugs produce different kinds of behaviors, like coke makes you hyper and heroin kind of zombies you out.

“So you have to keep it all straight. I did speak with some people that were recovering drug addicts, but I was trying to make it more of an impressionistic kind of performance. And I was going back 25 years in my own life and trying to recall what it was like.”

Nicolas Cage Broke, Nearly Bankrupt

Actor Nicolas Cage is reported to be broke, and is facing having to declare himself bankrupt due to a massive tax bill from the IRS and other financial problems.

News of Cage’s money issues surfaced last month when the IRS served him with a $6.6 million bill for unpaid back taxes. Cage is suing his financial manager Samuel Levin for $20 million for putting him in the situation to begin with.

According to new reports today, Nicolas Cage’s New Orleans homes have been foreclosed for “unpaid mortgage debts.” Cage is reported to have already sold his Bavarian castle, and his $10 million mansion in Las Vegas and homes in Bel-Air and Rhode Island are both said to be on the market.

There’s also an unconfirmed report that Cage is being sued by a bank for $2 million over an unpaid loan, despite earning $40 million over last year for his acting roles. I guess there’s something in the old saying about keeping some money aside for a rainy day.

August Coppola, father of Nicolas Cage, dead at 75

Nicolas Cage’s father, August Coppola, has died of a heart attack at the age of 75.

Coppola is the brother of famous filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola. He was a professor of literature at San Francisco State University, as well as dean of creative arts. OK Magazine outlined Coppola’s many relatives in show business:

Nicolas’ paternal grandparents were composer Carmine Coppola and actress Italia Pennino.

Through his father, Nicolas is the nephew of director Francis Ford Coppola and actress Talia Shire. He is the cousin of directors Roman Coppola and Sofia Coppola, late film producer Gian-Carlo Coppola and actors Robert Carmine and Jason Schwartzman.

In addition to Nicolas, August Coppola is survived by sons Christopher and March and three grandchildren.

Nicolas Cage has sold one of his homes to help renovate his castle

Nicolas Cage received a reported £4 million for the six-bedroom property in Bath, South West England, after deciding to put it on the market because he didn’t spend enough time there.

He is now putting all the money into nearby Midford Castle, which he bought in 2007 for around £5 million.

The castle has been empty for two years and Cage is focused on completely renovating the historic property – built in 1775 – as he wants to make it his main UK home.

The 45-year-old star has submitted planning permission to Bath and North Somerset Council, saying the castle was in a poor condition and in need of repair to return it to its former “grandeur”.

Earlier this year, the ‘Leaving Las Vegas’ actor put the rest of his property empire – including homes in the Bahamas, California, Nevada and Rhode Island – on the market.

In May, Cage – who is married to former waitress Alice Kim, with who he has a three-year-old son Kal-El – sold his 11th century German castle after only spending one night there, despite spending millions and three years renovating it.
