Last Wednesday (Jan. 4), Cannon fell ill during a trip to Aspen where he and his family were ringing in the new year. Nick was transferred to a hospital in Los Angeles two days later.

Following a successful surgery last Friday, Cannon checked out of the medical facility and is now recuperating with his Carey at their LA home.

Tracy Nguyen, spokesperson for the star, confirmed to People magazine today that Nick is “resting and recovering at home and would like to thank everyone who has expressed concern, well wishes and prayers.”

Meanwhile Mariah, who has been by her husband’s side throughout his ordeal has thanked fans on Twitter for their support and revealed that he is on the road to recovery.

Last night she tweeted:

“Up w/NC watching@BishopJakes -a true inspiration as always. Nick is getting better+we love+appreciate all the ongoing kind words!”

Nick is said to be returning to his live 92.3 NOW FM morning radio show ‘Rollin’ with Nick Cannon on January 17.

Earlier this week, Mariah Carey, 41, and Nick Cannon, 31, suffered a setback in Aspen, Colorado, when Cannon was hospitalized for “mild kidney failure.”

The pair were vacationing with their twins, Moroccan and Monroe, when Cannon suddenly fell ill. He was later moved to a hospital in Los Angeles, but according to Carey, has been suffering and in pain since the illness hit. A friend of Cannon’s, DJ Irie, told People that Cannon’s unexplained illness came as quite a shock- as the America’s Got Talent judge tends to lead a rather clean-cut lifestyle:

“I was beyond shocked when I learned Nick had a kidney issue… Of all the people, he is healthy beyond belief. He does not drink, he eats healthy, and he works out regularly.”

It seems Cannon is on the mend, however, as Carey updated her Twitter followers earlier today that she hopes her husband will get sprung from the hospital soon. Carey said:

“Thank you everyone for all the love & concern… Nick is in stable condition with a good prognosis, hopefully he’ll be discharged within 2 days. As always he’s laughing and in good spirits.”

It looks like Cannon’s “mild kidney failure” came on rather suddenly, as just prior to the star falling ill, pictures of the happy family out and about in Aspen- in matching white buntings and camel-colored boots- was posted to the internet. Doctors say such ailments can be brought about by bouts of dehydration as well as use of over-the-counter painkillers like Advil or Motrin.

According to wife Mariah Carey’s official site, Cannon, 31, is currently on the mend in an Aspen, Colorado hospital after suffering what is being described as a “mild” kidney failure:

“We’re trying to be as festive as possible under the circumstances but please keep Nick in your thoughts because this is very painful,” Carey explained to her fans in the post, which also included a picture of the “Fantasy” singer playing nurse — feeding Cannon some sort of drink with a straw — while they snuggled together in a hospital bed.

Mariah continues, “We’re doing OK but we’re “straaaaaanded in Aspen”. #DramaticDivaPlace (I know, we could be in a lot worse places) but the truth is as long as we’re together, we’re OK. I’m not trying to make light out of the situation because it’s a serious moment that’s very tough on all of us so please keep us and our family in your prayers. LYM.”

Carey, 41, married Cannon in the Bahamas in 2008, following a whirlwind romance. In May 2010, she gave birth to their twin son and daughter, Monroe and Moroccan.

CBS News points out that less than 24 hours before Nick Cannon checked into the hospital, the “America’s Got Talent” host posted photos of the family bundled up with their children while walking through the streets of Aspen.

Six months ago Mariah Carey gave birth to twins. Since then, the singer has shed 30 pounds of baby weight and is now showing off her flat stomach and toned legs.

Carey didn’t give any exact numbers, but she did say that she gained “an enormous amount of weight” during her pregnancy.

So how did she lose the fat so quickly? Mariah Carey told US Magazine that as soon as she was ready to get back on her feet to exercise (about three months after the pregnancy) she was back on a strict diet and workout plan. Carey worked with Jenny (formerly Craig) and kept to a strict 1500 calorie a day meal plan. Carey also performed three vigorous workouts a week.

Carey said:

“I feel incredible… It was a huge blessing to be able to have the babies. But I felt trapped in my body because I couldn’t move.  I’m proud of how hard I worked to get my body back…I had to do this for me.”

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon had a boy and a girl earlier this year. The star couple named their son Moroccan Scott Cannon and their daughter Monroe Cannon.

Nick Cannon has been raving to Us Weekly about Mariah Carey‘s commitment to a daily exercise routine, calling it “the best thing ever.” Yes, EVER.

He also revealed Carey was aiming to look as she did “in the 1990s” after the 41-year-old singer gave birth to twins on April 30th. Apparently, Carey is already back to her pre-pregnancy weight, just six months after the arrival of ‘Moroccan’ and ‘Monroe.’

Speaking to Us Weekly at the Halo awards on Wednesday, Cannon revealed the diva singer has been working out every day and is “killing it.” The 31-year-old Cannon gushed: “You saw how good she looked on Friday’s 20/20 Special.”

That was a reference to the couples’ appearance on Barbara Walters’s 20/20 show earlier this month, when Cannon was also feeling loved up. Back then, he told Walters:

“My family gives me everything. Unconditional love means the world to me. I mean it is a completion. It’s a beautiful place to be.”

We all got a glimpse of Carey’s workout progress back in August, when she tweeted a pic of herself performing an ‘ocean workout.’

On the show, Cannon also discussed his six-month-old daughters, saying, “my son is laid back like me and my daughter is a diva like her mom.” He has since promised fans that he’ll be uploading regular pictures of the new family members on www.dembabies.com.

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon went on 20/20 with Barbara Walters last night to show their new baby twins to the world.

Cannon said while holding his baby girl:

“My family gives me everything. Unconditional love means…the world to me. I mean, it’s completion.”

The twins, who Mariah and Nick lovingly refer to as “Dem Babies,” were born six months ago. Access Hollywood reports that last night was the first time that Mariah and Nick brought “dem babies” on TV, as the power couple told Barbara how Maria had a few false alarms and that the carrying twins was rough on her body.

Mariah said:

“I don’t think I understood the enormity and the magnitude of what it really does to your body. Carrying two babies. Unless somebody’s been through it, it’s difficult to understand what I went through, because my pregnancy was very unique in terms of what happened to me.”

But the most interesting part of the interview was when Mariah revealed that the twins were born to a live version of “Fantasy.”

Mariah said:

“They came into the world to a live version (of Fantasy.).. The only reason I wanted it to be the live version is because I wanted them to hear the applause upon entering the world.”

Mariah Carey and husband Nick Cannon recently sat down with 20/20′s Barbara Walters to discuss their pregnancy and according to the power couple learning they were having twins was “scary news.”

Cannon told Walters:

“It was good news, but it was scary news at the same time because then that also meant that it was a high-risk pregnancy.”

Carey said of the experience:

 ”[The doctors] make you really aware that it’s very dangerous.”

After having already gone through a miscarriage the idea of a high-risk pregnancy with twins gave the parents reason to worry however they eventually moved forward and found out that they were having one boy and one girl.

Joking with Walters Cannon said after finding out what the couple were having:

“I would carry around the ultrasound picture and be like, “You see that?!  That’s manhood.”
