An on-air anchored laughed uncontrollably this week after she was forced to introduce Holly the swimming cat. Holly, at 18 pounds, is in desperate need of some weight-loss, and she is shredding those pounds by swimming.

WDBJ7 anchor Susan Bahorich introduced a clip of the 13-year-old cat, and, as it appeared in full life-jacket wearing mode, the anchor began to giggle.

Bahorich was trying to introduce the cat, stating:

“Holly, the 13-year-old cat, who dislikes the outdoors and other physical activities.”

The giggles at first seem controlled but when introducing the Olde Towne Pet Resort in Dulles, Virginia where Holly is in “training,” the anchor laughs uncontrollably and can’t stop herself.

Eventually, Susan is able to tell viewers to “stay with them” before she asks for a cut to commercial. 

Speaking with TODAY.com, Olde Towne publicist Mayra Ruiz-McPherson says:

“It’s the only physical activity this cat has. Otherwise, she is a one thousand per cent couch potato.”

The swimming pool where Holly swims is typically reserved for dogs, but Holly’s owner soon realized that her cat didn’t fuss during baths, so she made the leap of faith, bought her feline friend a life jacket, and took her for a dip.

According to Ruiz-McPherson:

“It was more an experiment than anything. (Lawhorne) saw that the cat didn’t get too upset when she gave it baths, so she thought, ”I wonder what would happen if I threw her butt in the pool?”

Holly only visits the pool every other week. The rest of the time she just sits around doing nothing. Among her favorite activities is watching Maury Povich reveal the results of paternity tests. No wonder she is so fat!

Can you blame the news anchor for laughing uncontrollably. It is, after all, a rather silly sight to behold, even if it is practical.

Mike Wallace, one of CBS’ best known news anchor for more than 50 years has passed away at 93-years-old. During his time at the network Wallace was known for taking on hard hitting issues from embezzling businessman to bumbling politicians and violent work leaders, going so far as to lecture Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding corruption while lecturing Yassir Arafat regarding his use of violence.

During his time he interviewed Malcolm X and even traveled with the civil rights leader.

Mike Wallace was also a constant in the lives of many US Presidents having interviewed his good friends the Reagans along with John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson and Jimmy Carter.

As CBS News points out Wallace had some remarkable people to interview over the years including:

“Leonard Bernstein, Johnny Carson, Luciano Pavarotti, Janis Joplin, Tina Turner, Salvador Dali, Barbra Streisand. His take-no-prisoners style became so famous he even spoofed it with comedian Jack Benny.”

Wallace’s raise to fame is impressive when we consider that during his birth in 1918 most American homes didn’t even own a radio.

After attending the University of Michigan Mr. Wallace took a job as the announcer on popular TV series “The Green Hornet” before moving on to various other projects by the 1950s, projects that included variety shows, game shows, dramas and commercials. Wallace was regularly called the hardest-working announcer in television.

Wallace’s big break came in 1956 when he took part in an interview show called “Nightbeat.” Recalling his time on Nightbeat Mike Wallace said:

“We decided to ask the irreverent question, the abrasive question, the who-gives-a-damn question.”

In 1968 the network launched 60 Minutes which would become Wallace’s home for the next 40 years.

While news came easy to Mike Wallace his life was met with his own personal demons including an attempt to take his own life after being treated for severe depression throughout his life.

When Mike Wallace retired from 60 Minutes it had been 65 years since his first appearance on camera when he spoke on a World War II film for the Navy.

According to reports, Dyer had been interviewing the owner of the dog, Michael Robinson and the fire fighter, Tyler Sugaski after the dog – an 85-pound Argentine mastiff named Gladiator Maximus (Max) – was rescued after falling into a frigid lake while chasing a coyote.

The news anchor was petting the dog during the interview, and was bitten on the face in the live segment. The news station is not rebroadcasting Kyle Dyer’s attack, but a video can be seen below showing the dog attacking the anchor.

Following the attack, Kyle Dyer was rushed to a local Denver hospital where she underwent reconstructive surgery for injuries to her lip.

Thankfully, 9News reports that Dyer is “currently in fair condition and is being evaluated by the trauma team. She is awake and visiting with family who asked that we thank the community for their immediate outpouring of support.”

Vice President of 9News Patti Dennis also added that Dyer will make a return to the news station as soon as possible.

“Kyle will go through a recovery and be back in a period of weeks–probably several, but she will be back,” said Dennis.

Meanwhile, Max the dog is currently impounded for 10 days. According to the Denver Post, during those 10 days Denver Animal Care and Control will look for signs of illness, including rabies. Max may be released to his owner after those 10 days. A judge will hold a hearing to decide the dog’s fate.

Chicago News anchor Robin Robinson pissed off a large segment of parents during a Fox Chicago news broadcast this week when she announced that Santa wasn’t real and then told parents to tell their children the truth.

An anchor with the network since 1987 Robin said during a short personal commentary:

Stop trying to convince your kids that Santa is Santa,” and “That’s why they have these high expectations. They know you can’t afford it, so what do they do? Just ask some man in a red suit. There is no Santa.”

After parents phoned and emailed the studio in an uproar the anchor appeared on Wednesday night discuss show The Talker and apologized for her actions. In her apology Robinson said:

“It was careless and callous to say…what I said, in what could’ve been mixed company,” Robinson said. “So many kids don’t get to be children, that for those who do get to live the wonder and magic of Christmas, I would never spoil it intentionally. So I sincerely apologize. We have certainly heard how you feel about my mistake, and since The Talker is about opinions: here we go.”

In her apology during a segment called “An Apology” she also read Facebook comments from mad parents and one of those comments summed up the anger felt towards her callous commentary:

“I think that Santa Claus is an important part of preserving children’s innocence.”
