Hoboken mayor Dawn Zimmer isn’t a fan of the popular MTV reality series Jersey Shore and for that reason she has denied Jim Bianco and 495 Production the necessary permits required to film Snooki and JWoww’s new Shore spinoff in the New Jersey city.

In the letter which denied the permit Zimmer noted:

“Based on protecting public safety and quality of life concerns for Hoboken residents, the city has denied a film permit for a spin-off of the ‘Jersey Shore’ to be filmed in public locations.”

The show was originally announced in April 2011 at which point staff from 495 Production began scouting out locations before settling on Hoboken.

In a statement teasing about the show MTV officials initially released this short synopsis:

“Always inseparable and ready to get the party started at the shore, viewers will get to see how they deal with life and love when the vacation is over in this 12-episode series” and ”The locale may be different, but the friendship is sure to remain the same.”

Right or left, independent or apathetic, one thing is certain: The Republican Presidential field has been an interesting watch over the last year. Though every candidate has had his or her moment in the limelight, the automatic front-runner has universally been considered to be Mitt Romney. However, new Gallup Polls seem to indicate the opposite, and the Romney camp is reportedly bracing for impact.

According to the numbers, Romney is in fact sinking, while rival Newt Gingrich is rising. The national poll has Romney in front 30-20, but that’s down from a 23-point lead at the start of the week. Polls specific to South Carolina are worse, and the Romney-for-Prez team is preparing the spin:

“Do I think we could lose South Carolina?” says strategist Stuart Stevens. “Sure. Of course.” He continues:

“The very idea that we are sitting where we are two days before South Carolina, having won New Hampshire, having done very well in Iowa, and the question is, ‘Could Romney lose South Carolina,’ is such an absurd question,” he says. “The idea should be does he have a chance in South Carolina.”

The results, based on Gallup Daily tracking from Jan. 15th through the 19th, only partially reflect what has been a dynamic field this week. Two candidates have withdrawn (John Huntsman and Rick Perry), Gingrich’s dirty marital laundry is being dragged out again, Romney’s tax returns keep getting the wrong attention, a confusing announcement that Santorum won Iowa rather than a spirited Romney, and the lively South Carolina debate where Gingrich sank his teeth into the news media and the debate moderator have been some of the highlights in the political sphere just this week.

South Carolina polling shows Gingrich as the favorite, which (personal scandals notwithstanding) could tighten the race in favor of the former speaker.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who is know not to pull punches, has decided to hedge his bets on one of the more explosive issues in Republican Politics…Gay Marriage.  Only abortion has more people up in arms than the issue of Gay Rights.

So where di Christie come down?  A little to the left and a little to the right.

He had this to say,

“I’ve been very clear on my view on this since I ran for office that I’m not a supporter of same-sex marriage. But on the other hand, the fact is that this is a huge societal change that they’re talking about here and I think that we need to do this in a very deliberate and thoughtful way and get the most input from the public we can before we overturn hundreds of years of societal legal and religious tradition.”

This is the closest that Christie has come to taking up a position on Gay Marriage in the Garden State today.  At the time that New York State voted to legalize Gay Marriage Christie said that if he were governor of New York he would not have signed it.  Again though at the idea of it coming to New Jersey he gave a non-committal answer.

He said,

“Listen, I’m not in the hypothetical game. They’ve never been able to get it to a governor’s desk. They couldn’t get it to a governor’s desk when the governor [who] was there said he would sign it.”

It may not have to be a thorn in his side.  The Democratic head of the New Jersey State Senate says he may have the votes to override if Governor Christie decides to veto the measure.

Police, acting on a search warrant went to Lott’s house and found the videos of the boys as they were showering at the school.  They allegedly found the videos of the nude boys at Lott’s home.

Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey Soriano, in an interview with the journal said that nine of the victims were under 16 years old, which carries a more lengthy prison sentence.  Soriano said, as of this time 22 students had been informed of the incident and that they were on the tapes.

Until this incident Lott was considered a pillar of the community.  He had run for a Borough County Seat on the Republican ticket, but was unsuccessful a few years back.

Lott was arrested and is being held at the Somerset County Jail.  He is being charged with Child Endangerment among a whole slew of charges that prosecutors plan on filing.  He is being held on $500,000 bail.

New Jersey Nets‘ center Brook Lopez will be having surgery on Friday to repair a stress fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his right foot. In what can only be described as extraordinarily inconvenient timing, the surgery is scheduled a mere three days before the Nets open the long-delayed 66-game regular season.

Lopez was injured on Wednesday during the first half of the night’s preseason game against the New York Nicks. The announcement was made today by general manager Billy King.

This news comes hot off the heels of New Jersey’s recent failure to recruit center Dwight Howard, a rough initial blow to the Nets’ chances this season. Since recovery time for injuries such as this ranges from four to six weeks, this serves as yet another stopping point in what seems to be a run of bad luck for the Nets.

Last season, Lopez averaged 20.4 points per game, a team-best and personal career high. Lopez also showed promise at improving his career-worst average of 6.0 rebounds during the preseason, catching 20 in two games. Lopez has never missed an NBA game.

The delay is unfortunate, but stress fractures of the foot are not entirely uncommon. Los Angeles Lakers center Pau Gasol suffered a similar injury in 2006 during his time with the Memphis Grizzlies and returned better than ever after a three month period. By contrast, Lopez’s teammate Damion James required 10 weeks to recover from the same injury last season. Regarding Lopez’s injury, Nets point guard Deron Williams had this to say:

“It’s definitely devastating. Brook’s a big part of our team. But there’s one thing you learn in this business — you can’t control injuries. From what I understand, it’s not that severe, so hopefully he’ll be on the court soon.”

Barring any potential setbacks, Lopez is expected to return to his team in February.

OAKLYN, NEW JERSEY- If you are a regular user of Ambien or are in the habit of sleepwalking, this tragic story will probably scare the pants off you.

55-year-old Charlene Ferrero, a resident of Oaklyn, New Jersey, had a tendency to sleepwalk- appearing awake to those around her, but not entirely conscious or coherent. Over the weekend, Ferrero- a waitress at the nearby Starview Diner- disappeared from her home in the night. A concerned neighbor found her door unlocked, as well as her keys, purse and other items in plain view. Worried, the neighbor called police and locked the door.

Ferrero’s body was later removed from a local lake, and police believe the waitress fell from a train trestle while sleepwalking, leading to her drowning death. Somewhat unnervingly, just a week and a half ago, another neighbor reported an eerie middle-of-the-night encounter with a sleepwalking Ferrero. Teresa Cerini says that she woke after a knock to her front door in the middle of the night to find Ferrero, disoriented and apparently asleep. Cerini asked why she was at the door in the middle of the night, as the Daily Mail recounts:

‘And she goes, “I’m so sorry. The people at Table Two ordered the eggs,”’ she told WPVI-TV.

Ms Cerini helped her friend home. Ms Ferrero said she used to sleepwalk as a child.

‘I said, “Guess what, honey? You still do,”’ Ms Cerini told her, telling her also that the behaviour was ‘scary and dangerous.’ 

Ferrero’s death was ruled an accident, and toxicology reports are pending.

Melissa Gorga, one of the stars on Bravo’s Real Housewives of New Jersey is adamant that she never stripped while tending bar at Lookers Gentleman’s Club in New Jersey and now she’s threatening to sue anyone who claims she stripped.

Rumors about her stripping ways began after a former employee claimed that Melissa did in fact perform as an exotic dancer.

In what Gorga calls “proof” that she never stripped she has provided payroll sheets that list her as a “bar maid” along with a sworn affidavit from club owner Chris Kontos in which he testifies that Gorga ”worked solely in the capacity as a bartender.”

Backing up her claim that she’ll sue anyone who says she’s a former stripper Melissa Gorga has hired attorney James J. Leaonard Jr. who told TMZ:

“At this time we are aggressively pursuing the commencement of litigation against any and all individuals, in any jurisdiction, who have or continue to disseminate false statements against Melissa Gorga.”

She may not be a former stripper but she’s sure whoring herself out for media attention, I think the former is actually more desirable.

MMA fighter Kurt Pellegrino has announced his retirement from mixed martial arts after suffering a defeat on Saturday to 25-year-old Brazilian fighter Patricky Freire.

Felled by an early punch Pellegrino took to the ground and grabbed Freire’s leg as the brazilian continues to punch at the now retired MMA fighter.

Shocking the crowd and a stunned Pellegrino the referee broke up the fight as Pellegrino continued to defend himself.

Although it was obvious that he believed the defeat was called prematurely Pellegrino was gracious in his loss, raising his hand to Freire while shaking a finger in disgust at the hissing crowd.

Later on he joked about his loss:

“I lost fair and square.”

After the fight Pellegrino said:

“I started my career in Atlantic City and I wanted to end it in Atlantic City too.”

In May Pellegrino announced a hiatus from the sport and then returned following the birth of his son Kurt Jr.

Pellegrino does have a fall back plan, he currently owns Pellegrino Mixed Martial Arts Academy in Lake Como and Inferno Training and Performance Center in Marlboro

If he remains retired Kurt Pellegrino will end with a 16-7 professional record. His career includes some major victories against the likes of Mac Danzig and Josh Neer.  A Brazilian Jui-Jitsu black belt his victories include 10 wins by submission and two knockouts.

Get ready Jersey Shore fans your favorite GTL peeps are returning to MTV on January 5th for the season 5 premiere of Jersey Shore.

Unlike seasons past the show will actually share it’s namesake with the location where it was shot, that’s right the hit MTV reality TV series was actually filmed this time around in Seaside Heights, NJ  rather than the far off lands of Florence, Italy.

Returning once again will be Snookie, Pauly D, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and the rest of the Jersey Shore gang.

For fans still catching up from a missed season the Jersey Shore Uncensored: Season Four DVD will be released on Dec. 27.

Jersey Shore Season 5 will air on Jan. 5 at 10 PM ET/PT on MTV.

New Jersey transit is going to go just a bit more smoothly thanks to a partnership between Google and the New Jersey Transit.

In the first partnership of its kind, the two will be teaming up to integrate Google Wallet’s “Tap-and-Pay” feature into the New Jersey public transportation systems, offering travelers a quick and easy way to pay and get going. The technology uses near-field communication tech, allowing customers to “touch” their smartphone on a sensor to transmit their credit card data.

“Transit is the fastest way to accelerate adoption and reach usage density in major urban centers by habituating the behavior of tapping and paying with phones,” said Google vice president of commerce Stephanie Tilenius in a statement.

Initially, the payment option will only be possible by way of a free app on Sprint’s Nexus G smartphone. Google says it will be rolling out the feature in other Android-powered smartphones, but they didn’t provide a timeline on availability.

The “Tap-and-Pay” options are available at New York’s Penn Station ticket-vending machines, at Newark Liberty International Airport Rail Station, and on bus routes 6, 43, 80, 81, 87 and 120 and on some buses on the 126 line, NJ Transit announced today.

“Our partnership with Google demonstrates that NJ Transit and the state are at the forefront of emerging technology, paving the way for further exploration of new customer service technologies,” Gov. Chris Christie said in a statement. “I’m proud that New Jersey’s public transportation system is the very first public transportation agency to partner with Google Wallet, joining thousands of retailers accepting Wallet across the nation.”

Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach watched this past weekend as Hurricane Irene passed through New Jersey leaving his home underwater.

The singer and actor returned home after the hurricane/tropical storm and took photos of his homes damage which included a flooded garage where he housed many of his collectibles.

Not only did a bunch of water invade Bach’s home, it has been deemed to dangerous to pump because of potential electrocution and other hazards caused by storm surge.

Sebastian Bach wrote the following message on his Facebook Page:

“I am numb, in shock, & devastated to report that my home of 21 years, my house featured on MTV Cribs, has been destroyed, condemned, & deemed uninhabitable due to the extreme flooding courtesy of Hurricane Irene.

“In the 2 decades I have lived in this home, there has never been a single drop of water in the basement or anywhere else in the structure. Now Irene has overflowed the reservoir adjacent to my house. The surging waters have snapped the bridge in half next to my house & sent the bridge straight into my garage, knocking the house off of its foundation. The basement that has been dry for over 2 decades is now overflowing with water & I am not even allowed to start pumping the water out due to fears of electrocution. Original Skid Row & KISS fans, I have bad news for you. Gone are irreplacable items, such as my KISS Gargoyles from the 1979 tour. KISS pinball machine. Skid Row master tapes, video & audio, concerts, master tapes from Oh Say Can You Scream etc. Boxes & boxes of one of a kind Skid Row memorabilia, from the first tour to our last, all stuff I collected on the road that no one else had. I had a library in the basement with every single magazine that had Skid Row on the cover.  This library took up a big part of the basement. All of this is lost now. We will salvage what we can of course.  But how I wish there was a reason to do a box set or something before Hurricane Irene hit. Nobody cared. Now it’s too late. Don’t know what you got till it’s gone, indeed.

Have you ever been in an accident? Robin Quivers, sidekick to Howard Stern was this weekend and unlike most of us who would just exchange insurance info or write down the other drivers license plate number and be on our way, she’s claims that she was “almost killed.”

According to Quivers she was the victim of a hit-and-run accident over the weekend near her home in New Jersey. She told Stern during an airing of their show:

“I was in a car accident,” while adding, “This guy came out of a parking lot or some kind of side street like a maniac and he lost control of his car and he hit me.”

Quivers went on to tell Stern that she was driving on New Jersey’s Route 9 when she tried to slow down but Crockett “spun around in a 360″ and then “backed up and drove off.”

For all the fuss about the incident, police in Barnaget Township, New Jersey found and ticketed Robert Crockett, 50, for slamming into her car on Sunday, while citing him for leaving the scene of an accident and charging him with reckless driving, failure to report an accident and operating an unregistered vehicle.

In the meantime based on Robin Quivers’ idea of “almost dying” I have nearly been killed on 5 occasions in my life, thankfully never when I was the driver, however I typically just told people “someone hit our car today” which seems a lot less dramatic but also probably wouldn’t play as well on a shock jock’s radio show. Don’t let Quivers fool you, she had plenty of time to carefully choose the words she used in her story. Regardless of how serious the situation may have actually been I’m glad she’s okay, I like Robin.

Robin Quivers In Car Accident: Says She Was “Almost Killed” [Drama Queen] is a post from: The Inquisitr

Wayne, New Jersey adult-entertainment photographer Anton Fury managed to pick up something pretty special at a yard sale back in the 1980s: negatives of pictures showing singer and actress Marilyn Monroe along side of Jayne Mansfield (another blonde sex symbol from the 50′s) before the pair became famous. Fury recalled:

“I found an envelope of negatives, didn’t know what they were, but I realized they were old. I took it home, put them on the lightboard with a loupe and…. I was like, oh my God,” he said. “I thought, ‘It’s Marilyn,’ and then I saw the other pictures were Jayne Mansfield. That was probably my greatest garage sale discovery ever.”

Not knowing what to do with them or what they were worth, Fury stored them away for three decades. The kicker is that Fury paid a whopping two dollars for the entire set of shots which included 33 Monroe photos and 71 pictures of Mansfield.

It was only until about two months ago when watching an episode of Pawn Stars that Fury felt compelled to find out just where the pictures came from and, of course, how much they’re worth. The photographer contacted an auction house in California but was unable to get in contact with anyone about the photos.

He decided to contact one of the appraisers he had seen on Pawn Stars, and the appraiser pointed him to the direction of David W. Streets, a Beverly Hills art dealer and an expert in all things Hollywood. The photos are said to depict Monroe as a 24-year-old girl “just having fun.”

Streets told Fury that he believed the pictures were taken near the Hollywood Hills sometime around the 1950s, just before her rise to fame. Streets suggested that Fury contact a CNN reporter to bring the story out into the public in hopes of finding out more and, while his phone has been “ringing off the hook”, the origin of the photos remain a mystery.

There is one piece of information however that could yield some insight to the whole ordeal. The same unknown man is seen in both Monroe’s and Mansfield’s photos which leads some to believe that he could be their photographer.

“We know that Monroe and Mansfield were here working at the same time, were contemporaries and friends,” Streets said. “So, there’s an intertanglement there that we’re going to unravel and see where the mystery leads.”

With the amount of buzz these photos are creating on the net right now, it wont be long before someone chimes in and sheds some light on the matter. Regardless of when or even if that happens, one thing is certain: Fury is going to turn a serious profit on his bargain bin score.

Pre-Fame Marilyn Monroe Picture’s Origin Unknown is a post from: The Inquisitr

Remy Gonzalez, one of the stars of TLC’s Cake Boss, is being held in a Morris County, New Jersey jail on several charges relating to the sexual assault of a minor.

32-year-old Gonzales was arrested on August 17th, according to nj.com:

Remegio Gonzalez, 32, of East Hanover, was arrested Aug. 17 and allegedly admitted to witnesses committing assaults that occurred in March in East Hanover and Florham Park, according to an arrest affidavit filed in Superior Court in Morristown.

Gonzalez is charged in both towns with first- and third-degreee aggravated sexual assault, second degree sex assault, third-degree endangering and fourth-degree criminal-sexual contact.

The affidavit asserts that the two unnamed witnesses “confronted” the Cake Boss co-star about the alleged assaults. While he is said to have initially denied the accusations, court documents assert that after the witnesses threatened to obtain medical attention for the teenager, Gonzalez “broke down”crying and admitted to the behavior.

One of the witnesses is said to have recorded a phone conversation with Gonzalez in which he confessed to the incidents:

During that call, the witness said that he/she “could not believe this was going on. You broke our hearts,” to which Gonzalez replied, “I know, I know I did,” according to the affidavit.

Also during this call, Gonzalez acknowledged having previously admitted on Aug. 13 that he assaulted the teen, but now said he only touched the teen’s intimate areas, and that he “made a mistake,” “wanted to get help” and “forget about it,” the affidavit says.

Gonzalez remains in jail in lieu of $300,000 bail.

Having to pass through Jersey to go anywhere south of Manhattan, I have to say at least it wasn’t another stupid tollbooth.

A 23-year-old woman was arrested last week for horizontally parking her car across the Garden State Parkway, and then getting out and flashing passing motorists. State Police say Arika Felder, of Plainfield, obstructed the three northbound lanes ahead of exit 109 on the GSP at around 6pm on Tuesday, and began exposing herself to other cars. When approached by a State Trooper at the location near mile marker 109.5, Felder fled and hopped back into her car.

But she didn’t go quietly:

The trooper, whose name was unavailable, approached the open door of the driver’s side of her car and attempted to stop Felder, who hit the accelerator, dragging the trooper 20 yards before crashing into a concrete barrier on the left shoulder at mile marker 111.5, police said.

Both parties were taken to Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. The cop was treated for minor injuries and released, and Felder, who was not injured, was held for evaluation. She was later arrested for eluding and resisting arrest, and aggravated assault on a police trooper. Bail was set at $15K pending the results of the woman’s psychiatric evaluation, and she was committed to a facility in Trenton.

The new $1.6 billion Meadowlands stadium beat out Tampa and Miami to host the 2014 Superbowl today.

NFL owners have long passed over the home of the Giants and the Jets for the horrific February weather in the region, with temperatures in the 20s and frequent snowy, icy weather making the roofless stadium a hard sell. But fans think it all adds to the fun:

“Football’s supposed to be played in the cold. Let’s have a real team, a real Super Bowl team, championship team played in the cold,” said one fan.

“Cold weather is football, it works,” said another. “There’s all these teams in the north, in Minnesota and Boston, and it doesn’t stop them.

“Anything to bring more money to the city I’m for. It’d be nice to have a Super Bowl here,” said a third.

The event at the new stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, is expected to bring an approximate $550 million with it to the New York City area.

56-year-old Richard R. Finch, co-founder of 70s disco-funk outfit KC & the Sunshine Band, has been arrested on charges of sexual contact with a 17-year-old boy at Finch’s New Jersey home.

Licking County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Chris Slayman says Finch met the boy through music industry connections, and that the unnamed minor reported sexual contact with Finch over a period of months:

“(The victim) had heard of his successful career and met him through music contacts,” Slayman said.

Finch’s alleged crimes may not be limited to a single victim, either:

Licking County detectives spent several days collecting evidence about alleged sexual activity with several boys between 13 and 17 years old, according to the news release…

Finch was arrested Tuesday, and detectives said he admitted to sexual contact with the 17-year-old and multiple other juveniles, according to the news release. Licking County detectives are conducting additional interviews as part of their investigation.

Finch was arrested and charged with the fourth-degree felony of gross sexual imposition. Law enforcement officials indicate that charges are pending for “sexual imposition, gross sexual imposition, importuning and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.”

Finch’s website was scrubbed of all information following the arrest, and a statement was made on his behalf:

“We will let due process happen through the legal system and through that, we are sure Mr. Finch will be vindicated from these unfounded allegations.”

A New Jersey Wal-Mart is seeking the culprit or culprits behind an embarrassing racist prank at a New Jersey store.

Shortly before 7PM, shoppers say an announcement over the intercom at a Washington Township store offended shoppers and workers alike:

“Attention Wal-Mart customers: All black people leave the store now.”

Witnesses say staff were clearly upset by the incident, and shoppers were shocked:

“Just as I finished bagging my purchases there was an announcement that said “attention Walmart customers, all black people must leave the store now,’” Ellington explained. “Once I heard that, it was almost like a hush over the whole store momentarily because no one had believed what had taken place.”

An announcement followed about ten minutes later, indicating that staff were reviewing security footage to try and find the person or persons responsible for the announcement. The local police are taking the incident “very seriously,” and treating it as a “bias crime.”

“It’s being treated as a suspected bias crime in which the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office is assisting Washington Township,” Weisenfeld said, adding the county’s victim-witness coordinator has contacted the store manager to offer counseling service to those in the store who were affected by this.

While the actions of the pranksters were certainly offensive and cruel, is counseling really necessary?

Four of the five people aboard a small plane that crashed around 4pm today near Monmouth Executive Airport in New Jersey are confirmed to have been killed, and the remaining person aboard the plane is missing, the AP reports.

A witness reported that the plane appeared to “break apart” over the airfield 35 miles outside Trenton before coming down over a snowy field. Investigators indicate that there is a large “debris field” involved in the crash. Witnesses also say the plane was a Cessna 337 Skymaster, and an employee of a restaurant just outside the airport describes the crash:

Matt Giarratano, a chef at Runway 34 restaurant, which is located just off the grounds of airport, said he saw the plane approach the airport, heading south. Then, he witnessed it crash.

“I saw it coming in fast, and saw it pop back up. It was trying to land. It popped back up, then I just didn’t see it,” he said. “It broke apart. It basically became like a cloud of nothing.”

“I definitely thought they were in trouble, that’s for sure,” said Giarratano. “It looked like it was coming out of the sky.”

Victims names have not yet been released.

Football fans are feeling wistful today in Jersey and New York.

Demolition work on 34-year-old Giants Stadium began this morning in East Rutherford, NJ. A crane started taking down the top sections of the venue, which in its time hosted games for the Giants, the Jets, the Cosmos, the MetroStars and the Red Bulls. Bruce Springsteen ushered out the stadium’s long run with a five concert series, ending the sets with a song titled “Wrecking Ball.” Many pieces of the old stadium will be sold, including seats and pieces of turf, as the demolition continues.

Bon Jovi is set to open the new stadium at the Meadowlands in May. The new venue is going to be the NFL’s third largest, featuring seating for 82,500 fans with 9,500 club seats and 222 luxury suites.
