Summer hail storm hits NJ

The Garden State was pelted with a hailstorm on Monday, blanketing the area in the snowy substance in a weather anomaly described by residents as “like a blizzard.”

Proving perhaps once and for all that even God can’t stand Jersey, the storm ripped through Bergen and Passaic counties. Marble sized hail accumulated 3-4 inches in many areas, allowing some residents to even build snowmen. Cars were buried and flash flooding of up to three feet was reported in areas including Wayne and the comically named Ho-Ho-Kus. Residents dusted off snowblowers and shovels to deal with the icy mess, and several homes suffered water damage as basements flooded. Trees and power lines were felled in the freak storm.

New Jersey isn’t alone in what some New Yorkers are calling “the summer that never happened.” Temperatures in the area for June are averaging at about 65 degrees, compared to normal temps of around 70. The area has gotten 5″ of rain, compared to a monthly average of 2″. The region saw rain on 14 out of 15 days so far for June.

Hairy stuff: New Jersey may ban Brazilian waxes

Brazilian, and similar waxing styles could be banned in New Jersey under a proposal to be considered by the state’s Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling.

The ban on genital waxing comes after complaints to the board from two women who were injured and hospitalized after being waxed. New Jersey allows waxing of the face, neck, arms, legs and abdomen, but according to officials genital waxing has always been illegal, although not specifically spelled out.

Philly.com quoted salon owner Linda Orsuto saying that women would “go ballistic” if the proposal passed. “She said that some women would resort to waxing themselves, visiting unlicensed salons or traveling to other states, including Pennsylvania, in a quest to remain bare down there.”

Most salons in New Jersey currently offer the service, although some have stopped since it was disclosed that the practice may be illegal already. The board makes its decision in April

New Jersey men are so tough, they spit the bullet out when shot

A New Jersey man shot Monday responded by spitting the bullet out of his mouth.

22 year old Richard Jamison was involved in an altercation with at least two other people before one of the men fired a single shot from a handgun.

The bullet pierced Jamison’s right cheek, then struck his tongue. Jamison then spat out the bullet, according to police.

According to NJ.com, Jamison is in a stable condition in hospital. Police are yet to arrest the assailants, or award a prize for the toughest guy alive to Jamison.

The breed them tough in New Jersey.

Deer Invasion Causes Disruption in New Jersey School

A school in Hamilton, New Jersey has an interesting surprise Monday: a deer invasion.

Two deer jumped through a window at the school (as they do), startling three students and a teacher. Fearing more deer could be on their way, the four fled, locking their attackers in the room.

Animal control officers later tranquilized the animals and removed them, according to local reports.

There were no reports of injuries.
