<p>The purchase &#8212; coming at a cost of $300 million &#8212; will allow NEC to focus on its network sales.  Currently, the Japan-based business sells telecom equipment, PCs, and cell phones.  </p>
<p>Netcracker is known for providing operations support systems to communications companies.  It will continue to operate out of its U.S.-based offices in Waltham, Massachusetts.</p>
