The young family were papped at the Farmer’s Market in Los Angeles, and the Oscar-winning actress was reportedly in high spirits. The Daily Mail says Portman was “holding her bundle of joy close to her chest” while she and Millepied shopped.

After spending some time poking about food stalls, the couple eventually went away with a trolley of fresh fruit and vegetables. The Mail has more snaps.

The Black Swan star, who just clinched the ‘Best Fantasy Actress’ gong at the 2011 Scream Awards, was decked out in jeans, a beige jacket and sneakers, while Aleph (in one of his earliest public appearances, I believe) rocked a beanie.

In other important Portman news, the actress is apparently enjoying being a mom too much to think about acting. According to Entertainment Weekly, the 30-year-old just turned down a role in indie flick Adaline, a part that was also offered to Katherine Heigl. A spokesperson for Portman confirmed she won’t be taking the role on.

Not that she needs to, really – as well as her Scream Awards win, the star has remained in the spotlight thanks to her recent turns in Thor and Your Highness being released in the last few months.

Harry Potter (six awards) and Black Swan (three) were the main victors at the awards, which are held annually to celebrate the sci-fi, fantasy and horror genres in movies, TV and comic books.

Portman won for her turn in Black Swan, Radcliffe for his role in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, and Jackman for a cameo in X-Men: First Class. Fiennes clinched a ‘Best Villain’ award for his portrayal of Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter.

Categories I think we’d all like to see at the next Oscars include the ‘Holy Sh!t Scene of the Year’ (Potter again) and ‘Most Memorable Mutilation’ (Scalped Alive by Motorboat, Piranha 3D, since you asked).

Natalie Portman and fiancé Benjamin Millepied have picked a name for their new born son and reports say the name is another unique one for another Hollywood elite couple. According to reports the little guys name is Alef.

In the grand scheme of things it’s better than some names that have circulated, most notably Gwyneth Paltrow who named her daughter Apple.

There’s also meaning behind the name, according to those in the know they chose the name because it’s the first letter in the Hebrew language (most commonly spelled Aleph, but alternatively spelled Alef) and Natalie was born in Jerusalem.

At this time the couple’s reps are not confirming the child’s name which was first revealed on Good Evening with Guy Pines.

With the secrecy the couple are keeping around their child even just knowing the confirmed name would be a big win for gossip columns everywhere.

Actress Natalie Portman, 30, has given birth to a health baby boy. While details about the child she had with fiance Benjamin Millepied have not been revealed it’s believed that she actually gave birth earlier in the month.

Millepied and Portman met on the set of Black Swan where Benjamin acted as the movies choreographer and the couple announced their engagement and the pregnancy in December 2010.

After a reporter asked Portman at the Academy Awards if she would name her son “Oscar” after her best actress win their were almost immediately bets being placed however she said at the time that it was not likely to happen.

Portman made her break into the film industry in 1994 in the French movie Leon: The Professional. Natalie, then only 13 years old, took on the role of Matilda, an orphan girl who befriends a middle-aged hitman.

It was in the late 90′s however, that the now-Harvard educated star’s popularity erupted when she played Padmé Amidala in the Star Wars prequel trilogy’s first film, The Phantom Menace.

The Star Wars beauty has recently been buzzing in the media because of her open stance on gay marriage. Recently Portman and her fiance Benjamin Millepied joined the ranks of over 100,000 people when they signed the Freedom to Marry’s Say, “I Do” letter to President Barack Obama, a document asking for marriage equality for gay couples.

Natalie Portman has won the Best Actress Oscar at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards.

It was second time lucky for Portman, who had been nominated once before. Portman collected the award for her role in Black Swan.

Portman had previously won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama, the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role, and the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in Black Swan.

Portman said that the win was “insane” and that her wish on winning would have been to work with her fellow nominees.

He’s implying all the stuff Robert Downey Jr. has done is gay, and threw in a crack about RDJ’s drug use. RDJ snarked back. Now he’s saying he tried to sleep with all his former co-stars. Oooh! He said “I’d give it to all five of you. At once.” Dirty.

The award RDJ is presenting is Best Actress (Comedy or Musical), which goes to Annette Bening, for The Kids are Alright.

Now Geoffrey Rush and Tilda Swinton are presenting, and Tilda Swinton looks reliably insane and is wearing a bedsheet and no lipstick. The Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Mini Series or TV Movie goes to Al Pacino, for You Don’t Know Jack. Apparently, Al Pacino gets to talk as long as he wants with no music, so screw you Steve Buscemi.

Claire Danes wins Best Actress in a Mini Series or TV Movie, for Temple Grandin- her second win after My So Called Life. Temple Grandin is in the audience. “Everyone was so viiiital,” Danes whines.

A rep for Natalie Portman says the Black Swan actress is both engaged and expecting a baby.

Portman, 29, met husband-to-be Benjamin Millepied on the set of Black Swan, and the two “quietly” began dating in the fall of 2009. It’s not clear how far along in her pregnancy Portman is, but according to ABC News, recent comments she made about eating following her dramatic 20 lb. weight loss for Black Swan might be telling:

“I consume my own weight in hummus every day,” she told Vogue. “I cook a lot, and I even do vegan baking.”

“I like pleasure. I like joy. I’d never get to the point where I would starve or injure myself like Nina does,” she said, referring to her “Black Swan” character. “I’m the opposite — when I’m hungry, I eat, and I always make sure I’m eating something delicious.”

Before Millepied, Portman dated Devendra Banhart and Gael Garcia Bernal.

Chris Hemsworth looks very Scandinavian (if I let my hair and beard grow you couldn’t tell us apart), Asgård doesn’t look like I imagined it, but that’s ok. I’m still not sure Anthony Hopkins is the right choice as Odin, but it’s very cool that he has accepted the role. Tim Hiddlesworth (Loke) looks very scheming and like a god that shouldn’t be trusted. Let’s not forget the last 20 seconds of the trailer featuring the Odin-forged suit of armor known as Destroyer. Thor better get a hold of his hammer pretty quick. Though I have a feeling we won’t see Destroyer until the end of the movie. It’s an obvious adversary for The Avengers.

Another day, another fake celebrity death, and today’s installment is bought to us by Natalie Portman.

According to the rumors circulating online, Natalie Portman died by falling off a cliff in New Zealand. If the cause of death sounds familiar, that would be because Jeff Goldblum was said to have died the same way last week.

The so-called news report saying that Natalie Portman had died also came from the same source: Global Associated News, which is the name used in fake reports generated by the site fakeawish.com (see the image above.)

Normally we’d hedge and say there’s no way we can be definitely sure on rumors like this, but not this time: Natalie Portman is definitely 100% not dead.

Natalie Portman has launched Making Of, a new social sharing site dedicated to the movie industry.

Making Of, as the name suggests, focuses on the movie making process, and aims to offer an outlet for everyone from directors through to the make up department to share their insights. The site has a strong focus on video, with interviews and trailers, and also supports related promotional material.

It’s a reasonable enough idea on paper, but the implementation is more than lacking. The problem isn’t design (although the site has bugs, and doesn’t use imagery enough), but simply content, or more specifically a huge lack of content. The only way to scale a site like this is to offer enough seed content to get it started. Instead, the cupboard at Making Of is bare, with a few interviews, but mostly movie trailers that can be found on many other sites. Users can sign up to be a part of the “community,” but exactly who this is opened to, and what they get just isn’t explained, other than a profile page. Notably the little content on the site doesn’t offer any interaction (such as commenting), so where as you can join the community, the idea of community is limited.

This is not to say that the site will fail: if, and only if they can quickly find more willing participants, it might go the distance. But the longer that takes, the lower the chances of it surviving. I love Natalie Portman as an actress, but her skills don’t seem to extend online, or at the very least in getting her (and her partners in the site) to be smart enough to get outside help. This site would seem to have been delivered without even some basic guidance from someone who understands social media and social marketing, and that sadly may be a costly mistake.

Fresh from winning the Oscar for Best Actor for his role in Milk, Sean Penn is going for a second big award: the 2009 WTF couple award.

Sean Penn and the gorgeous Natalie Portman have been spotted getting up close and personal at the Sunset Tower Hotel in L.A. according to multiple reports.

The pair are reported to have had dinner on March 17 and were “constantly touching each other”, according to Star Magazine.

But after dinner it got more interesting: “They went to a bank of elevators that only goes to the spa or to private rooms. They came back about 45 minutes later, and that’s when I saw them making out!” a source told Star.
