]]> Kickfire’s kicked up a cool $20 million to expand its MySQL appliance business. The cash comes from Series B funding led by Pinnacle Ventures.

Kickfire creates open source-driven MySQL solutions that let companies handle their reporting and analysis. Its product is billed as the “first high-performance, easy-to-use open source database appliance” for MySQL. In a nutshell, it uses a special SQL chip to give companies the speed they need to make MySQL work for any level of query-based use.

Kickfire was formed in 2006. The new funding will be used to further develop its sales and marketing operations.
