American Pie 4: Who thought this was a good idea?

In yet another sign that the studio executives have either a) ingested too many drugs, b) have no original ideas or c) both of the above, Universal Pictures has green lighted the making of American Pie 4. For release. At the movies, not straight to DVD.

Following the DVD success of the American Pie spin off’s Universal has obviously decided that there is enough juice in the American Pie franchise to justify the fourth in the series.

There is speculation that it might possibly pick up on the whereabouts of now married Jim and Michelle played by Jason Biggs and Alyson Hannigan. Bringing back all the original characters of Jim, Michelle, Stifler, Finch and that nut bag Eugene Levy who has appeared in each of the follow ups.

Most of the original cast have gone on to mediocre careers. I say hang on to that and for the love of god people, have some dignity. I never thought I would say this, but go back to mutilating 80’s cult classics, the American Pie horse is dead.

Watchmen Exclusive Sneak Peek Video

Watchmen, the movie which Fox studios is trying to stop you from seeing, ironically has an exclusive video sneak preview on Myspace. Ironic because Myspace is owned by Fox.

20th Century Fox was locked in a copyright battle with Warner Bros. over the movie “Watchmen.” A federal court judge handed his judgement into the mater down on Christmas eve.

The Judge ruled in favor of Fox which came as a surprise to pretty much everyone, including Fox, who abandoned the project about a decade ago.

The decision came in an order which stated that: “Fox owns a copyright interest consisting of, at the very least, the right to distribute the Watchmen motion picture,” the ruling read.

The Judge also wrote that he will issue a more detailed order soon. The judge advised the studios to focus on reaching a settlement or appealing the decision. “The parties may wish to turn their efforts from preparing for trial to negotiating a resolution of this dispute or positioning the case for review,” he wrote.

Warner Brothers hasn’t commented on the ruling except to say that it has not backed away from its March 6 release date, of the Watchmen.

Fame Remake, Kelsey Grammer, Megan Mullally and Debbie Allen to star

Rummage through those drawers for your leg warmers, and get ready for an 80’s flashback because they are remaking Fame. Not content to screw up Teenage Mutuant Ninja Turtles, Fraggle Rock and the Karate Kid MGM is doing a remake of Fame to be released September 2009.

It has been announced the do over will star Kelsey Grammer, Megan Mullally, Debbie Allen, Charles S. Dutton, and Bebe Neuwirth for the roles of instructors and supervisors in the upcoming “Fame” remake.

Production begins this week with director Kevin Tancharoen who is most famous for directing music videos and tours for Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson.

Like the 1980’s classic, the remake follows dancers, singers, actors and artists from auditions to graduation at the New York City High School of Performing Arts.

Art imitate life imitating art or something like that as Mullally’s a graduate of the School of American Ballet and will portray a voice instructor; Grammer, who attended Juilliard, will play an orchestra maestro; Dutton, a graduate of Yale School of Drama, will portray an acting teacher; Neuwirth, a Tony winner, will play a dance instructor.

Debbie Allen, who made her debut in the original “Fame,” has been cast as the school’s principal so presumably she will have ring side tickets to just how bad the new version is.

Thomas Dekker will play Marco, Paul Iacono will be Neil, Kristy Flores is the new Rosie and Naturi Naughton is the new Denise.
