That huge new data center Apple is getting ready to open in North Carolina will be used solely for Apple iTunes and MobileMe applications according to a company statement made today.

Apple announced the data centers planned use when speaking with shareholders at their annual meeting on Wednesday.

Apple also revealed that “corporate systems” would be housed at the new building which is set to open “sometime this Spring.”

While no specific details have been revealed, it’s expected that the new cloud-based iTunes service which has been rumored for some time now will run out of the center, while MobileMe should see a good deal of expansion.

With the sort-of-maybe-kind-of-partial-fix for 3G now deployed around the world, Apple may be moving on to another software patch for its seemingly problem-plagued iPhone.

An e-mail said to be from Steve Jobs indicates a new update slated for September. The update will fix a bug that causes the phones not to load some third-party apps at startup, AppleInsider reports. The site says a user had e-mailed Jobs and then received a one-line personal response:

“This is a known iPhone bug that is being fixed in the next software update in September.”

The app issue is the latest in a line of widespread problems for the iPhone, which started right off the bat with the activation day meltdown. MobileMe problems followed, and then, most recently, we’ve seen the well-reported coverage and dropped call woes.

Still, Apple is doing all right on the whole: A consumer satisfaction study made public this week shows the company scoring a record-high number, with 85 percent of its users saying they’re happy. The next highest-rated company, Dell, came in 10 percentage points lower.

Of course, that survey was probably taken before the iPhone came out. Are people still satisfied?

Apple’s dot Mac service is now Mobile Me, and along with an increase is storage, the service has had a fresh coat of paint.

I was previously a dot Mac user, but I’ve never used it heavily. My mac.com email address was my primary address on my iPhone in place of my Gmail account, mostly to save on data charges. I occasionally used iDisk, I used the photogallery to share photos privately with friends and family, and I used the syncing tool to sync data between my Mac Pro, my Macbook Pro and my iPhone. The new MobileMe offers a fresh take on dot Mac, and for those wondering what it delivers, my walk through above.

Update: some issues with Blip.tv embeds hence the low rez YouTube video. The high rez version is available on Blip.tv here.
