Looking for an excuse to dive back into Deus Ex: Human Revolution? Well, you’ll soon have that excuse as Eidos announced today that the game’s first DLC, ‘Missing Link’, is due out next week.

The DLC is expected to arrive in both North America and Europe on October 18 on Xbox 360 and PC, with a release date on the PlayStation 3 following a day later on October 19. The DLC will set you back $14.99 on PC and PlayStation 3, and 1200 Microsoft Points on Xbox 360.

‘Missing Link’ takes place during a gap about halfway through the singleplayer campaign, and sees protagonist Adam Jensen held captive by Belltower agents on a cargo ship, beaten with most of his augments disabled.

You’ll get those augments back, of course – and you’ll be able to change your spec, if you’d like – but you’ll have to fight through a bunch of Belltower agents first. During your attempts to break free of captivity, you’ll discover yet another piece in the puzzle that is the ongoing global conspiracy in Deus Ex: Human Revolution‘s world.

You can check out a glimpse of Deus Ex: Human Revolution‘s ‘Missing Link’ DLC in action by checking out the gameplay walkthrough below.

A few days ago, internet sleuths cracked a code left behind from a Deus Ex: Human Revolution ARG that, once cracked, suggested that a DLC for the game is in the works – and there is.

Square Enix confirmed today that Deus Ex: Human Revolution will get its first DLC, titled ‘Missing Link’, this October. Basically, the DLC creates one heck of a bad day for Jensen; after being tortured by Belltower agents for information, and having his augmentations disabled, he’s unwillingly shipped off on a freighter bound for an unknown location.

In addition to uncovering new layers to the grand conspiracy from the original game, players will also be able to explore “sprawling” new areas, interact with all-new characters, and, even rebuild Jensen’s augmentations from scratch.

There’s no word as of yet on a specific release date, nor is there any word on pricing, but we should be hearing more on that soon.

According to paleontologist Jorn Hurum, the fossil of a Lemur-like primate found in Germany is a monumental discovery and could be an important ‘Missing Link‘ in human evolution.

Missing Link Found – Darwinius masillae

Hurm says the fossil, known in science as Darwinius masillae, bridges an important evolutionary gap between higher primates such as monkeys and apes and lemurs, and humans. Ida represents “the closest thing we can get to a direct ancestor.”

The extremely well preserved lemur-like skeleton has characteristics common to modern primates, like grasping hands, opposable thumbs, clawless digits with fingernails, and relatively short, strong limbs. The skeleton has amazing detail, even the outline of the animal’s fur can be seen.

Brian Richmond, a biological anthropologist at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., says:

“This specimen looks like a really early fossil monkey that belongs to the group that includes us. [Ida] is one of the important branching points on the evolutionary tree, but it’s not the only branching point.”

This is an exciting discovery that bridges the gap between the different primates, but there are still many gaps to be filled; mainly the one where primates and humans branch off to develop as unique species.

And this new discovery has brought out the creationists who argue that there is no relation between primates and humans and that’s why a true missing link will never be found – that humans are a unique and share nothing in common with other species. That we were created separately, regardless of what science proves.

So, dear Inquisitr readers – did you evolve like everything else on this planet, or were you created by ???
