“The child appeared to be in good condition when we found him … he was in the closet with his mother,” chief deputy U.S. Marshall David Rahbany said in a statement.

Although McCready, 36, has been accused of stealing Zander from Gayle Inge, the child’s maternal grandmother who obtained custody in 2007 after Mindy fell into a series of troubles including drug abuse, drunk driving and a suicide attempt, the singer insisted that she was unable return the boy because she was pregnant and could not travel.

Florida Department of Children and Families spokeswoman Terri Durdaller said that her agency was working with Arkansas state officials to bring the youngster back to Inge’s home in Florida.

“We feel sorrow for Zander because he’s traumatized, and for Mindy,” Mrs. Inges said after hearing news that the two were found. “We just hope she does the right thing from here on out and that this is a wake-up call for her.”

According to CNN, McCready was not charged with a crime Friday even though she legally had violated a custody arrangement and judge’s order.

Authorities added that it is unclear whether she faces any future charges.

“I’m doing all this to protect Zander, not stay out of trouble,” Mindy wrote in an e-mail to the Associated Press on Thursday. “I don’t think I should be in trouble for protecting my son in the first place.”

The Mindy McCready kidnapping story has just gotten a bit more interesting, as the singer announced she was unlikely to rescind custody of her 5-year-old son across state lines any time soon, citing the fact that she is seven months pregnant with twins.

Earlier this week, news broke that the country singer was the subject of a missing persons report after she failed to comply with court-ordered visitation terms. At the time, McCready made the following statement:

“I am working with lawyers to try to get all this straightened out. I did not steal my child, as it would be impossible for me to kidnap what already belongs to me! There never was any missing persons report and never an Amber Alert.”

McCready does not currently have legal custody of the boy, Zander- her mother does- and the singer was ordered to return the child by today to the custody of his grandma. Despite her delicate condition, McCready risks arrest by failing to return Zander to his grandma by the court-ordered deadline. But she claims he suffered abuse, and says from Nashville she does not intend to comply:

“I’m a mom first. No matter what happens, I’m going to protect my kid. If I have to go to jail, so be it.”

McCready lost custody of her son after an incident at her mother Gayle Inge’s home in 2007, after which McCready was sentenced to 60 days in jail for a probation violation. The singer served 30 days, and lost custody of her son. Inge says McCready’s abuse allegations are ”absolutely not true.”

Police in Florida are searching for country singer Mindy McCready and her 5-year-old son after a missing persons report was filed on Tuesday. McCready, who does not have legal custody of her child, was last seen with her son on Tuesday night.

In an email to Access Hollywood, McCready says that she didn’t steal her child.

But the Department of Children and Families says otherwise. The Associated Press reports that a judge ordered McCready to return Zander by Thursday.

McCready posted on Facebook:

 ”My son is not missing… police established that this afternoon via Skype. I have been fighting the Florida court system to protect my son, and bring him home. Please do not worry.”

McCready has had her share of personal problems in the last few years. People reports that McCready has battled addiction for several years and attempted suicide in 2010.

After appearing on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, McCready told Access Hollywood:

“Dr. Drew in giving me a diagnosis, diagnosed me as a person who has co-dependency. The new age term is a ‘love addict.’ It leads you into the wrong relationships and you go from one horrible relationship to another. Then I started drinking too much.”

Country singer Mindy McCready dishes some celebrity sex dirt in a new sex tape being released by Vivid Entertainment, a company that drew attention recently for their continued porn-courting of mom of fourteen Nadya Suleman.

McCready, who has been featured on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, is “starring” in the new release titled Mindy McCready, Baseball Mistress with a man known only as “Peter.” While the tape centers around her activities with “Peter,” McCready tells all about trysts with Dean Cain, Alan Jackson, and most notably, Roger Clemens.

While McCready says Clemens was a good lover, she also says that Dean Cain was better endowed. If that wasn’t emasculating enough, McCready lets slip that Clemens suffered from erectile dysfunction. The country singer says that she’s never met Clemens’ wife Debra, though she wishes she had. (Somehow, I doubt the feeling is mutual.) McCready also reveals that she was “young” when she and Clemens met, but that the ten-year affair started after she was of age.

Country music singer Mindy McCready was taken to a Nashville-area hospital for treatment and a psychological evaluation following a suicide attempt Wednesday.

According to reports, McCready severed a tendon in her left arm, that required immediate surgery.

McCready’s brother Timothy said the country star returned home at about 3:30 a.m. “very intoxicated” and immediately went to bed reports the NY Daily News. Three hours later, their mother Gayle Inge told the brother that she had received a disturbing call from McCready and asked him to check on her.

Timothy McCready found the singer stumbling in the kitchen. She went back to her bedroom and later called her assistant and told him to come over because “she had done something bad.”

McCready was the center of reports in April that she had previously had an affair with Roger Clemens in 1991, when she was only 15. McCready was arrested and charged with battery and resisting arrest in 2007 after a mental breakdown.

Mindy McCready, a prominent-yet-troubled country music singer, is in rehab after a stop at the emergency room in Tennessee. According to her rep’s release in PEOPLE, Mindy “receive[d] emergency care at Vanderbilt University Medical Center” and then “Other issues made it prudent for her to seek longer-term and broader-based treatment.” TMZ reported:

Mindy McCready is going back to rehab after trying to do herself in with her favorite swiggable and pharmaceutical — vodka and Ambien — and we hear Dr. Phil’s inserting himself in the whole she-bang.

TMZ has learned the troubled McCready went off the deep end late last week after getting dumped by her boyfriend and collapsed while on the phone with her mother. She downed a bottle of vods and pills in what we’re told was a “suicide attempt.”

Between Mindy’s on-again, off-again relationship, custody battles for her son, and the aforementioned drug conviction, she’s had some rough times. Maybe Mindy’s getting on the straight-and-narrow before her reality show and documentary are released? Sounds like a good idea to me.
