According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Hayden Panettiere thought she may have been pregnant but a subsequent pregnancy test came back negative. The friction caused by the scare is said to have been the cause of the couple parting ways after a year together.

Earlier reports had Panettiere and Ventimiglia parting due to lifestyle conflicts, with the couple often regularly apart due to work commitments.
