The Martha Stewart Show cancelled. Reports began circulating on Wednesday morning that 2012 would be the last year fans of the homemakers can catch her once popular talk show.

Martha Stewart will broadcast her last show in April, ending  a daytime series that now receives an abysmal average of 225,000 viewers per episode. Making matters worse the shows key 25 to 54 demographic only showcased 41,000 viewers per episode during last seasons run of newly airing shows.

Sources close to the production say the cancellation became even more necessary when the cost of the very expensive daytime talk series was thrown into the mix.

Even with horrendous ratings and an expensive production cost Martha is expected to receive an “Oprah-style send-off” at which point reruns of the show will run from April through September when a new yet to be announced show will take over the time slot.

Network executives have also confirmed to the New York Post that Martha will continue to work with the network with new roles in daytime programming, including new ideas being pitched by Martha Stewart’s own production company.

Adding to her bad luck the Martha Stewart paint line is disappearing from Home Depot shelves. Customers looking to buy more of a paint they have already procured will still however be able to have those colors mixed through the Glidden-branded paints section of the home improvement store.
