Linda Sirois, 49, is the grandmother to a healthy baby boy named Madden Hebert; she is also the woman who gave birth to the healthy bundle of joy.

No, this isn’t some sick story straight out of a twisted relationship; instead, Sirois gave birth as a surrogate on behalf of her daughter. Angel Hebert suffers from a heart condition that would make it unsafe for her to get pregnant and go through a full out labor.

At first, Angel Hebert turned down her mother’s offer to carry her baby if doctors deemed her own pregnancy to be too risky. For years, her mom kept offering, and, finally, last summer Angel and husband Brian Hebert found out they could not conceive naturally without a high level of risk.

Hebert tells the Miami Press Herald:

“It was pretty disappointing and we were pretty upset about it. But we kind of had an idea that it was a possibility and, all along, my mother was saying, ‘I’m here and I can carry for you.’ I guess we didn’t really take her seriously.”

At first, Angel through her mother was just being kind and showing support for her situation when in fact her mom was serious.

After agreeing on the procedure, the family then set off on a path of fertility clinic rejections because of Linda’s age. Eventually, the Reproductive Science Center in Lexington, Massachusetts agreed to perform the procedure after the future grandmother passed a battery of tests.

While some clinics had warned against Linda Sirois’ age, the mother of four, who also has a pair of twins, says Madden’s birth was the easiest with no complications or morning sickness.

On August 13, Madden was delivered by way of C-section and weighed in at 7 pounds, 14 ounces.

So, how did the grandma feel after handing the child over to her daughter. She jokingly tells the Press Herald:

“I just saw it as I was babysitting for a few months. It was their child all along. It was just a room for rent.”
