Meet Lemon, a disabled duck who’s the subject of a new book.

Lemon has been physically disabled since birth due to a neurological disorder, and can’t walk. Lemon needs to be hand fed, have her nappies changed, and can only get around in a special walker, per the picture above.

Owner, British school teacher Laura Backman claims Lemon has become her obsession, and has written a book on Lemon’s life: “Lemon the Duck” that helps teach kids that disabilities are ok.

Ok, I’ve been good so far. While the message that disabilities are ok is a noble one, this crazy woman has kept alive an animal that is completely dependent on her and incapable of doing anything by itself, an animal that in civilized society would have been put down to save it from misery. If it would have been born in the wild, it wouldn’t have lasted out one day. The only message this sends: that some people value animals more than humans…oh, and some people are stark raving mad.
