Former talk show host Larry King announced during a taping of Dinner with the Kings (airing on Sunday) that he doesn’t believe in the afterlife and therefore would like to be cryogenically frozen when he dies.

King is joined on the show by various A-List celebrities and athletes including  Conan O’Brien, Tyra Banks, Shaquille O’Neal, Seth MacFarlane, Jack Dorsey, Quincy Jones and Russell Brand. The stars came together to discuss personal issues that interest them.

Speaking on the show King told the show’s guests:

“I want to be frozen on the hope that they’ll find whatever I died of and bring me back … because I don’t think I’m going anywhere.”

After making his statement Larry King attempts to change the subject until Conan O’Brien chimed in:

“Listen, two things just happened,” and “You revealed you want your head chopped off and frozen, and Russell Brand went into your wife’s room and stole your underwear. And now you’re moving on with your prepared questions.”

The second comment from O’Brien involved Russell Brand who went into King’s bedroom and raided his underwear drawer for the shows taping.

Perhaps Larry King can be the first floating head in the real word version of our very own Futurama.

Do you think someone can be “saved” from death in the future if they are first frozen in a large holding tank for safe storage? It all seems a bit silly to me and an awfully cold way to spend an eternity.

Larry King posted on his CNN blog tonight that he’s leaving the show in December, although he will still work with CNN.

King stated in the statement, quoted in full below, that the decision was his and made for personal reasons- mainly, to spend more time with his family. King has been hosting the show for 25 years, and says that Larry King Live holds a Guinness Record for having the longest running show with the same host in the same time slot.

Before I start the show tonight, I want to share some personal news with you. 25 years ago, I sat across this table from New York Governor Mario Cuomo for the first broadcast of Larry King Live.

Now, decades later, I talked to the guys here at CNN and I told them I would like to end Larry King Live, the nightly show, this fall and CNN has graciously accepted, giving me more time for my wife and I to get to the kids’ little league games.

I’ll still be a part of the CNN family, hosting several Larry King specials on major national and international subjects.

I’m incredibly proud that we recently made theGuinness Book of World Records for having the longest running show with the same host in the same time slot. With this chapter closing I’m looking forward to the future and what my next chapter will bring, but for now it’s time to hang up my nightly suspenders.

A police report recorded after Shawn King’s May 28th drug overdose has been obtained by TMZ and posted.

Shawn King’s father called 911 that day to report that King was breathing but that he was unable to wake her at their home in Provo, Utah. Police in Provo say two handwritten notes were found at the scene, and that one of the notes indicated that King wished to be buried in Provo. Provo police have disclosed the large number of prescriptions found near the unresponsive woman, and say that the prescription bottles were empty, even though the scripts had only recently been refilled:

Among the prescriptions by at the home of Larry King’s wife: Compro, Prometrium, Clonazepam, Ambien, Klonopin, Subutex, Cymbalta and Lyrica.

Subutex is commonly used to treat narcotic addiction. Cymbalta is an anti-depressant, Lyrica is a seizuretreatment … Klonopin and Clonazepam are anti-anxiety meds.

Both Kings filed for divorce in April, but have recently stated that they are attempting to work on their marriage and reconcile.

CNN host Larry King and wife Shawn Southwick filed for divorce in California today, citing irreconcilable differences.

Southwick, 50, allegedly believes that her elderly spouse has been carrying on an illicit affair with her sister, Shannon Engemann. Engemann denies the accusations:

“This is so ludicrous,” Engemann told TMZ Wednesday. “She’s singling me out, but Larry has been nothing but generous to our entire family, including me.”

She admitted King gave her gifts but wasn’t specific. She said Southwick threatened her over the phone, saying “If you dare sue the Enquirer I will pull out every last receipt that proves you had an affair with Larry.”

She said King was “like a father” to her.

“I’m tired of taking the wrap [sic] for things. I did not have an affair with Larry,” she said.

In court papers, King, 76, seeks joint custody of the couple’s two sons, Chance, 11, and Cannon, 9. Southwick is petitioning for primary physical custody, spousal and child support and the couple’s home in Beverly Hills. Southwick is King’s seventh wife and eighth marriage- King divorced and remarried his second wife.

Carrie Prejean is continuing her media blitz, promoting her new book while insulting old media fixtures like Barbara Walters and Larry King with impunity.

Prejean’s interviews of late have been full of rage and insistence that she’s been “Sarah Palin-ized,” and she assumes she has a large base of supporters for her “courage.” She appeared on Larry King Live last night, treating King, who has been interviewing celebrities and politicians for probably three times as long as Prejean has lived, with disdain and bringing to mind an unhelpful customer service representative at the airport. Totally maverick, Carrie! You go, rogue!

Prejean smiles cattily and condescendingly tells King he’s being “inappropriate,” over and over, before Larry drops his not-unreasonable line of questioning to take callers. Just as the first caller is patched through and asks a reasonable, well-thought out question, Prejean removes her mike (so she cannot “hear” nor be heard) and smiles bitchily while Larry and the crew try to communicate with her- all of this live on television. She just shakes her head and informs them she cannot hear them, ignoring the caller and talking to some person off-stage whose presence seems surprising to King.

Regardless of her “bravery” in speaking out to marginalize an already marginalized group, I don’t see how anyone can find this woman tolerable, much less worthy of commendation. She clearly has an inflated sense of self importance and relevance that doesn’t befit her position, and her insistence on milking her only achievement was wearing thin three months ago. Also, the fact that this whole scandal erupts as her book is released? It makes her attitude even more grating, if that’s possible. Go away, Carrie Prejean. No one likes you.

Pathological liar, soft porn wannabe and current Miss California, Carrie Prejean, was supposed to be a guest on Larry King Live this week but she had one of her minions call to say she couldn’t make the show, because she was “too tired.”

Paula Shugart, president of the Miss Universe Organization, placed a phone call to CNN asking them to tell King that Prejean was simply exhausted from traveling too much in recent days. But this is where it gets interesting…

TMZ.com is reporting that Carrie Prejean was “too tired” after partaking in the festivities of her 22nd birthday bash to make the show:

Carrie celebrated her 22nd birthday in Atlanta last night. She was scheduled to do Larry’s show tonight in L.A., but her people called hours ago and said Carrie had a birthday party last night and she was really tired and took a flight that put the airhead in the air at the time Larry airs.

“Late this afternoon, she canceled her appearance,” Larry King said during his show without providing further explanation.

Ashton Kutcher (@aplusk) confirmed his win with this tweet: “You guys are amazing.” CNN briefly after tweeted “Congrats @aplusk. Ashton Kutcher is the first twitter account to reach 1MM followers.”

Kutcher had another joker in his hand. He will be appearing on The Oprah Show Friday morning (US time) and that would probably had given him the last followers he needed.

3 days ago Ashton Kutcher challenged CNN in a video on the network’s Larry King live programme. He wanted to show CNN how an individual could potentially have an equal voice to a major network. He is donating 10,000 mosquito nets worth $100,000 to Malaria No More.

Until earlier this week @CNNbrk was run by John Cox, but CNN “acquired” the Twitter account for an unknown amount. According to Twitter rules you aren’t allowed to sell your Twitter account.

The next person to reach the 1,000,000 mark could be Britney Spears. She is about 40,000 followers away.

PS: Ashton hasn’t dropped under 1 MM followers since. He is still gaining more.

So what’s the big news these days?

The recession starting to see an upswing in China?

North Korea reactivating its nuclear program?

The Obama clan get a new hypo-allergenic puppy?

No. It’s all about some actor named Ashton Kutcher, whose only real claim to fame at this point is being married to Demi Moore, looking to reach 1 million followers on Twitter before the CNN news bot does. Yes folks in an effort to finally prove how totally useless Twitter can be we have Larry King accepting the challenge on behalf of CNN that the new organization will reach that magical number before Kutcher does.

Robert Scoble once said it isn’t the number of people of following you on Twitter that is important but rather the number of people you are following. Well if we look at those numbers in regards to the two combatants in the PR slugfest of the century we can see they are both losers. Currently CNN while ahead in the follower’s number game is lagging behind Kutcher, which isn’t say much either.

CNN is following 6 people

Where it can make sense for CNN to have as any followers as it does, because it is a news broadcaster after all, Kutcher’s obsession with reaching that earth shattering milestone of 1 million is pointless and stupid. It also shows how as much as the folks in social media would like everyone to believe that it is all about the conversation the real point of Twitter is to prove how little you value your friendships. After all how could you even come close to being able to give a rational explanation about any value of having a million people following you.

You can’t, and in the process you prove to the world just how silly this Twitter thing can be – which is too bad because Twitter could be much more than this. Also an interesting little side bit to this. Until today CNN didn’t even own the CNN profile on Twitter but once they saw the obvious PR value of it they hauled out the checkbook and bought it up from one Jamie Cox of San Francisco.

So on one hand we have senility encroaching Larry King issuing a YouTube video talking about how he’ll take on Kutcher on his Twitter thing – does Larry even know what Twitter is? On the other hand we have doucebag Kutcher bribing the Twitter masses with the help of game maker EA as well as emotionally blackmailing us with promises of buying 10,000 bed nets to help fight malaria.

And why?

Other than for some perverse ego boost on Kutcher behalf and momentary PR of how cool they are on CNN’s behalf this bullshit serves no other purpose than a momentary distraction for the Twitter masses.

Isn’t our use of technology bloody wonderful.
