Elton John has officially mellowed. The famously, temperamental Brit legend has ended his public feud with Madonna.

Elton’s long-standing face-off with the ‘material mother’ originally blew up over his dismissal of her 2012 MDNA tour as a “disaster” and taunts about her being a “fairground stripper.”

Reportedly, the “Candle in the Wind” singer also took offence at Madonna’s less than complimentary remarks about Lady Gaga’s music, whom he considers a personal friend.

Now, however, John says that he and Madonna have moved on, even if they didn’t exactly ‘hug it out.’

Speaking to Extra‘s Terri Seymour, John said his bad blood with Madonna was all “over and done with.” And apparently the hatchet was buried over dinner at a French restaurant.

“We were in a restaurant in France in the summertime. She came in, and I sent over a note. She was very gracious. I apologized profusely because what I said should never have appeared in public,” John explained.

“She accepted our apology, and then we bought her dinner. That’s over and done with.”

In other Elton news, it’s been revealed that the singer and his husband, David Furnish, have asked Lady Gaga to be a godmother to their second son Elijah, who was born via a surrogate in January this year.

Gaga is already a godmother to the couple’s first child, the now two-year-old Zachary, and it seems they were so impressed that they popped the question a second time.

“She’s a great role model, she’s young, [and] she’s been a great godmother to Zachary,” John told Extra. “We’re all bonkers in this business, but we’re human beings at the same time.”

In the same interview Furnish added: “You learn so much about yourself and about life by seeing children.”

John also spoke of his love for fatherhood. “I love getting up in the morning and having breakfast with Zachary.”

“Everything I thought I would find annoying about having children, like screaming and shouting and tantrums … I don’t find any of it annoying. I find it all enchanting.”

Elton John Buries Hatchet With Madonna And Not Where You’d Think is a post from: The Inquisitr

Justin Bieber’s reign as the most followed person on Twitter has come to a swift and deplorably unceremonious end.

The 19-year-old’s 37 million plus followers on the social media site have been brutally slashed without warning, even though his account still reads the same.

As it turns out, Socialbakers, a company that studies and analyzes social media metrics, has estimated that almost half of Bieber’s Twitter followers are either fake (around 16.7 million) or inactive (2.6 million).

Taking out the ‘egg’ accounts, spam tweeters, the rarely or never tweeted users, and the “Boyfriend” singer is left with 17.8 million “good” and true ‘beliebers.’

This, of course, now means former record holder Lady Gaga monsters back to her Queen of Twitter position with 19 million “real” followers.

As yet, there’s no been public announcement from Bieber on the terrible news and there may not be any, what with his newly adopted ‘Jay-Z silent stance‘ on responding to speculation.

For that matter has anyone actually tested Socialbaker’s analysis? And do we even know if Twitter plan on revising the singer’s account? We need answers!

But there’s no getting around it, this is not a good ‘look’ for the Biebs. Try as one might, there’s no spin or Pollyanna-ism that can make the bitter pill of Twitter demotion easier to swallow.

Oh, wait here’s a couple. No-one’s (yet) suggesting that the pop star knew any of his followers were fake, and a quick scan of timelines doesn’t reveal any undue concern by ‘Beliebers’ about their relegation. So there is that.

An interesting perspective on Bieber’s follower culling came via a Canadian outlet, who wrote:

“When compared to his two closest Twitter number rivals (Lady Gaga, Katy Perry), Bieber has achieved so little commercial success that the mere fact that he even has  17.8 million ‘real’ followers mean he’s already won the popularity war … or to put in the parlance of the kids, he’s got more Swag than the POTUS.”

But jesting aside. The teen phenom remains one of the world’s first social media superstar’s to show just how far connecting with fans can be taken, and lets face it, 17.8 million is fantastic numbers.

Who knows, Bieber could be planning his Twitter coup even now? Never say never.

Lady Gaga is rumored to have turned down $1 million last year to sing at the Republican National Convention.

Dolly Parton and Pitbull also turned down an opportunity to perform at the event, according to the Washington Examiner. Instead, Kid Rock, Journey, and Lynyrd Skynyrd played at the gathering.

Gaga’s rejection has come to light after a lawsuit was filed by Republican fundraisers, American Action Network, against Cater American LLC, a production company that were booking entertainment for the event.

The Republicans reportedly told the “Poker Face” singer that $150,000 of the payment would go to a domestic violence shelter, but she still decided against it.

It still seems as though the singer is quite a few weeks away from returning to performing though, after she was photographed being wheeled around in a Louis Vuitton wheelchair by a pal on Wednesday afternoon in New York.

Gaga is still recovering after she needed to have surgery following a hip injury. The singer also thanked people for her birthday wishes, which was last week, taking to Twitter to write, “So many bouquets, chocolates, cupcakes champagne and gifts I feel like a princess. Thank you for all your birthday wishes, I’m so lucky. .”

In February, Gaga had to cancel three remaining dates of her latest tour, which cost her around $15 million.

At the time, Gaga tweeted, “There’s an unfortunate announcement coming out right now, concerning myself and the Born This Way Ball tour. I’m so sorry. I barely know what to say. I’ve been hiding a show injury and chronic pain for sometime now, over the past month it as worsened.”

She then added, “I’ve been praying it would heal. To the fans in Chicago, Detroit and Hamilton, I hope you can forgive me as it is nearly impossible for me to forgive myself right now. I would do anything for you. I will hopefully heal as soon as possible and be at 500% again, which is what you deserve.”

Lady Gaga may be recovering from hip surgery, but that isn’t stopping the pop star from riding rolling around in style. The Mother Monster is on the road to recovery in a bejeweled, leather line, 24-karat gold wheelchair.

According to the NY Post, Ken Borochov designed the 24-karat gold wheelchair, which he has dubbed the Charity.

Borochov said, ”I certainly wasn’t expecting that phone call … [I] have never done a wheelchair but am always up for a challenge and was thrilled to create what I affectionately dubbed the Chariot, a chair fit only for a queen.”

Borochov isn’t in the wheelchair business, but he has made some jewelry for the singer in the past. Borochov has designed crowns and claws for Gaga and has also done pieces for pop stars like Kanye West and Nicki Minaj.

Borochov used his jewelry skills to pimp out Gaga’s wheelchair. According to the Guardian, the wheelchair is plated in 24-carat gold, has a leather canopy, spoke rim wheels, and a reclining seat.

The wheelchair may have put Gaga’s tour on hold, but it hasn’t cramped her style. The pop star is even still posing for Terry Richardson.

Lady Gaga has reportedly received some friendly advice from A-Rod.

Alex Rodriguez is rumored to have given the pop star a pep talk prior to undergoing hip surgery on Wednesday. The baseball star is currently recovering from a similar procedure.

According to ANI, sources said Lady Gaga and A-Rod showed up around the same time at New York’s Hospital for Special Surgery. The the singer and the athlete are under the care of Dr. Bryan Kelly.

Although Gaga was reportedly nervous about having hip surgery, Rodriguez sat down with the pop star for a quick chat. It’s unclear what A-Rod said to Gaga during their conversation, but sources say he was able to calm her nerves prior to going under the knife.

The New York Daily News explains that doctors expect Lady Gaga to recover completely from the procedure. However, it’s currently unknown when she will be able to perform live again. The singer’s manager remarked that she will require “strict downtime” in order to heal.

The surgery essentially threw a wrench into Lady Gaga’s recent tour. While A-Rod may have been able to calm her nerves about the surgery, the reported $30 million in refunds she will have to dish out is probably still weighing on her mind.

Alex Rodriguez is expected to be down for the count until midseason. The baseball player had hip surgery back in January.

A-Rod recently said of his recovery:

“I am conducting two rehab sessions each and every day in an effort to get back on the field and rejoin my Yankees teammates. I think we have a great team, and I want to be a part of it.”

Pop superstar Lady Gaga checked herself into a hospital Wednesday in order to undergo hip surgery.

Lady Gaga cancelled several shows on her “Born This Way Ball” tour in the US earlier in February after she was diagnosed with synovitis, a severe inflammation of the joints, reports The San Francisco Gate.

At the time, a press release was released explaining that Lady Gaga had suffered “a labral tear of the right hip.”

Last Wednesday, Lady Gaga cancelled the rest of her tour in its entirety after she was told that she needed an immediate operation to treat her injured hip. Lady Gaga is currently under the knife in an attempt to solve the problem.

“Going in for surgery now,” the “Judas” singer tweeted this morning. “Thank you so much for sending me love and support. I will be dreaming of you.”

Gaga probably would have resumed her tour, except that her injury caused her intense pain, reports E! Online.

“I’ve been hiding a show injury and chronic pain for sometime now,over the past month it has worsened,” Gaga tweeted after Live Nation officially announced her tour’s cancellation. “I’ve been praying it would heal.”

Lady Gaga continued:

“I hid it from my staff, I didn’t want to disappoint my amazing fans. However after last nights performance I could not walk and still can’t. It will hopefully heal as soon as possible,” she added. “I hate this. I hate this so much. I love you and Im sorry.”

Hopefully Lady Gaga recovers quickly so she can get back out there for her Little Monsters.

Lady Gaga looks set to lose $25million after cancelling her Born This Way Ball tour.

The singer needs surgery to repair an injury to her right hip, and she announced via Twitter on Tuesday that she would be cancelling three shows. Unfortunately this estimate proved to be unrealistic and she has now had to cancel all of the remaining 22 dates of her current US and Canada tour.

Her concerts had been promoted by Live Nation Global Touring, and it was predicted that around 200,000 tickets would have been sold for these gigs, which would have generated around $25million in ticket sales. Approximately 1.1 million people have attended her concerts in 2012.

Gaga’s tour had, so far, made around $110 million across 85 dates, and had she been able to complete her performances she would have grossed such a large amount that it would have place the Born This Way Ball tour in the top 20 tours of all time.

Gaga said earlier this week about her injury, “I am completely devastated and heartsick. I’ve been hiding this injury and pain from my staff for a month, praying it would heal, but after last night’s performance I could not work.”

She also added, “To the fans in Chicago, Detroit, and Hamilton, I hope you can forgive me as it is nearly impossible for me to forgive myself right now. I would do anything for you. I will hopefully heal as soon as possible and be at 5000 per cent again, which is what you deserve.”

Gaga is set to release her third album ARTPOP, later this year.

Lady Gaga is unable to walk after what has been called a “show injury,” and the pop star was forced to postpone tour dates following the incident.

Fans learned via Twitter that Lady Gaga is unable to walk for at least a week, and the star seemed defeated and critical of her inability to soldier through the injury as she revealed it’s severity to her followers.

Gaga is unable to walk, she says, due to synovitis, a severe inflammation of the joints.

The singer, real name Stefani Germanotta, didn’t say how she hurt herself performing or how she is handling the setback. The star began:

“I’ve been hiding a show injury and chronic pain for sometime now, over the past month it has worsened … I’ve been praying it would heal.”

It was then Gaga revealed she’s unable to walk, expressing hope that the inflammation will abate for next week’s dates. She continues:

“However after last night’s performance I could not walk and still can’t. It will hopefully heal as soon as possible, I hate this. I hate this so much. I love you and [I'm] sorry.”

Gaga concludes:

“To the fans in Chicago Detroit & Hamilton I hope you can forgive me, as it is nearly impossible for me to forgive myself. [Im] devasted & sad.”

Lady Gaga being unable to walk is the most recent sudden illness to strike a beloved artist on tour. Singer Morrissey was also forced to cancel shows in Chicago and Detroit a few weeks back due to a bladder infection and later had to cancel some dates in Las Vegas as well.

Lady Gaga has announced that she will be postponing future tour dates due to inflamed joints, leaving Lady Gaga unable to walk.

Lady Gaga tweeted several times on Tuesday, announce her cancellation of three concert dates on the latest tour.

Lady Gaga said she has been hiding a show injury from her staff for some time because she didn’t want to have any tour dates canceled. After performing in Montreal last night, Lady Gaga had to admit defeat, as she could barely walk.

According to Mashable, Lady Gaga tweeted:

“There’s an unfortunate announcement coming out right now, concerning myself and the Born This Way Ball tour. I’m so sorry. I barely know what to say. I’ve been hiding a show injury and chronic pain for sometime now, over the past month it has worsened. I’ve been praying it would heal. To the fans in Chicago, Detroit and Hamilton, I hope you can forgive me as it is nearly impossible for me to forgive myself right now. I would do anything for you. I will hopefully heal soon as possible and be at 500% again, which is what you deserve.”

The list of canceled shows include Chicago, Detroit, and Ontario. All further tour dates are still on schedule. According to Billboard,  Lady Gaga concluded her tweets with:

“It will hopefully heal as soon as possible, I hate this. I hate this so much. I love you and I’m sorry.”

Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Ball, named after her 2011 album “Born this Way,” started in South Korea last April and has trotted the globe to over 100 shows. The tour is scheduled to finish on March 20 in Tulsa, with the canceled tour dates possibly being postponed until afterward.

Lady Gaga’s backstage demands have been leaked, and at least a couple of them are reassuringly off-the-wall.

Celebuzz obtained the star’s Monster Ball tour rider, a list of demands that includes a mannequin with pink pubic hair, black and silver drapes, and white leather couches.

The remaining Lady Gaga backstage demands are actually pretty standard and include tea; honey; a bag of Tostito lime flavor tortilla chips; fresh roses (yellow, white or lavender); rock posters featuring David Bowie, Queen, Elton John, and Billie Holiday; lavender towels, lavender hand towels, lavender washcloths, (sensing a pattern here?), lavender handsoap, body wash, face soap, and two loofahs; and a small candle in the bathroom.

There are also a ton of food demands including requests for whole wheat bread; Bran Flakes or Special K (no berries or raisins); organic teas and milk; Hiro strawberry jam; peanut butter with flax seed that contains no more than four grams of sugar; grain tortillas, homemade guacamole; hummus; solid white tuna in water; a vegetable tray with carrots, celery, peppers, broccoli and cauliflower with low-fat ranch dressing, and six Activia yogurts (“vanilla preferred”). Sheesh.

Finally in the hefty list of Lady Gaga backstage demands, there’s a list of drinks long enough to stock most small bars for a busy week. This includes a couple of bottles of wine, a bottle of Jameson whiskey, eight Coke Zeroes, loads of bottled water, long drinking straws, Dunkin’ Donuts vanilla ground coffee, four Essential Flavor Vitamin waters, eight Fuze Slenderize drinks, and four Gatorades.

(As a sidenote, Gaga’s disdain for convention extends to spelling. So “mannequin” is mangled to read “manquin”, “satin” is spelt “statins”, and “pubic” is spelt “public” (though to be fair, who hasn’t mistyped that last one?)

Tour riders are usually a fun read, and there are plenty out there that make Gaga’s pink-pubed mannequin look completely normal. Thrash metal band Slayer, for instance, once memorably requested 50,000 live bees, 100 snow-white goats for slaughter, blood-proof umbrellas, a sandwich platter arranged in the form of a pentagram, and one human skull full of Red Hots.

Beat that, Gaga.

Lady Gaga dropped a few “F-bombs” in court on a former personal assistant who is suing her for overtime pay.  Lady Gaga, 26, is being sued by Jennifer O’Neill, who was her assistant during two stints between 2009 and 2011.  O’Neill claims she is owed compensation for over 7,000 hours of overtime.

Justin Beiber had a similar issue with a bodyguard earlier this year, in a report by The Inquisitr.

According to the New York Post, Lady Gaga blasted her personal assistant as a:

“f***ing hood rat who is suing me for money that she didn’t earn. … She’s just — she thinks she’s just like the queen of the universe. … And, you know what, she didn’t want to be a slave to one, because in my work and what I do, I’m the queen of the universe every day.”

Lady Gaga couldn’t maintain her “poker face”, sniping at ex-aide Jennifer O’Neill near the start of Gaga’s six-hour testimony in a law office in Midtown Manhattan:

“Are you going to stare at me like a w*tch this whole time – honestly? Because this is going to be a long f***ing day that you brought me here.”

Lady Gaga, who in a report by The Inquisitr performed at the inaugural ball, even unloaded on one of O’Neill’s lawyers, Paul Millus:

“No, no, no. Listen, listen, sir, if you’re going to ask me questions for the next five hours, I am going to tell you exactly what f***ing happened, so that the judge can read on this transcript exactly what’s going on.”

According to Yahoo News, Lady Gaga says O’Neill was hired as “a favor” and “majorly unqualified,” failing at even the simplest tasks. One said tasks to lay out Lady Gaga’s clothing properly while they traveled, while O’Neill “slept until [noon] most of the time.” Lady Gaga said this was:

“very stressful [because] I weigh 115 pounds and I was trying to move these huge, big luggages all by myself”

Lady Gaga has lost several millions of views on YouTube after the site cleared out what were considered “fake statistics” built by bots and hackers. Some lesser known YouTube channel owners have used bots as a way to beef up their view counts, but Lady Gaga is not one of them.

Lady Gaga is a well-known celebrity who uses other unconventional means to gain fame. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, she wore a gun bra for her first concert after the Sandy Hook shooting.

Lady Gaga encountered the sudden drop one month after the Sony and Universal YouTube pages were stripped of 2 billion YouTube views. YouTube decided that videos migrated to their VEVO pages were “dead videos.” A small portion of the loss is the result of what YouTube calls “de-spamming the data.”  Most of what affected Sony and Universal was a result of Sony, Universal, and EMI‘s decision to bet on VEVO.

VEVO is owned by Sony and Universal Music Group. According to the Huffington Post, other artists affected by YouTube‘s bot sweeps include Beyonce and Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson has no need of YouTube to maintain his fan base, but that’s beside the point.

According to E! Online, the decision was made last month. A YouTube spokesperson told Billboard at the time:

“This was not a bug or a security breach. This was an enforcement of our viewcount policy.”

Of course, YouTube has been diligent in removing “copied” videos since the beginning, with a massive public outcry when copyright infringement became the bane of a lot of lesser channels trying to cheat for more views.

It had been popular on YouTube to upload official music videos to public-owned channels back then, even though the videos were sometimes illegally downloaded to begin with. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, copyright infringement due to illegal downloading is a major issue in the United States. YouTube‘s taking down of videos and channels was a direct attempt to eliminate the issue.

In July 2011, around the time when copyright policies had started to relax a bit more, Lady Gaga’s YouTube account was suspended and promptly restored. Google, who bought YouTube in its early days, declined to comment when a notice on her channel read that it was guilty of “multiple or severe violations of YouTube‘s copyright policy.”

Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett will be recording an album together.

The Mother Monster, who recorded a duet with the legendary singer last year, announced today on Twitter that she was working on an album with Bennett.

Lady Gaga posted a photo of Bennett on Twitter and wrote:

“And here’s me and my handsome date, I simply cannot wait for our album together, he’s my darling!”

The pop singer recorded “The Lady Is a Tramp” in 2011 for the album Tony Bennett: Duets II. The two singers apparently got a long great (Bennett even painted Gaga in the nude) and have been planning to do an entire album together.

Bennett said:

“She’s the biggest. I’ll tell you, I never met anyone with more talent than that lady.”

The album was rumored last year but was quickly forgotten about when Lady Gaga started working on her ArtPop album. Well, it looks like the two sings haven’t forgotten about it.

Justin Bieber is now the reigning King of Twitter. The 18-year-old pop idol has overtaken Lady GaGa to become the most-followed person on the popular social media site.

Lady Gaga even marked her rival’s achievement with a congratulatory tweet to Bieber, writing:

“So proud of @justinbieber and all the Beliebers! I’m only happy to see your fans growing in size, you all deserve it! Monsters support you.”

Bieber’s followers now number 33.32 million followers, while Lady GaGa comes in a close second with 33.32 million.

Gaga had been the most followed person on Twitter since she herself dethroned Britney Spears back in 2010.

Bringing up the top three just below Gaga and Bieber, are Katy Perry at 31.481 million, Rihanna at 27.946 million, and President Barack Obama with 26.158 million followers.

BBC Newsbeat reports that Lady Gaga and Bieber have been the two most popular users on Twitter for some time, but somehow Gaga managed to stay ahead as she became the first to hit 10 million, then rising to 20 million, before she sailed past the 30 million milestone.

Inevitably, both artists have used Twitter to cultivate their connection with their fans — “Little Monsters” and “Beliebers” respectively.

Bieber’s social media victory over Lady Gaga is not total though.

The Born This Way singer trounces Bieber on Facebook with 54.98 million ‘likes’ compared to Justin Bieber’s 50.66 million, and Rihanna beats them both with 65.579 million, Digital Spy notes.

Lady Gaga is now one of the many popular musicians who are slated to perform at the Inaugural Ball on Tuesday.

The Mother Monster will reportedly be joined by Katy Perry and Jay-Z at the festivities scheduled for White House employees. According to The Associated Press, nothing about singer’s performance has been confirmed on an official level. The news was delivered by an anonymous source close the ball.

Rapper Jay-Z also performed at the previous inaugural ball. Reports stated that he delivered “99 Problems but George Bush Ain’t One” for staffers back in 2008.

Gossip Cop reports that Lady Gaga is just one of many musical artists that are slated to perform at a number of inauguration-related activities that are sprinkled throughout the weekend.

Jay-Z’s wife Beyonce will reportedly perform the national anthem at the Monday’s swearing-in ceremony. Kelly Clarkson and James Taylor will perform “My Country Tis of Thee” and “American the Beautiful,” respectively.

Saturday’s National Day of Service Summit and Kids’ Inaugural Concert will feature performances from Alicia Keys, Brad Paisley, Usher, and Katy Perry. Smokey Robinson, John Legend, Marc Anthony, and the cast of Glee are expected to partake in the numerous celebrations as well.

According to Rolling Stone, Lady Gaga will be joined at the Inaugural Ball by User, Fun, and Stevie Wonder. Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Hudson are among the individual slated to appear at the Commander-in-Chief’s Ball which honors those who serve in the armed forces.

Although he isn’t getting nearly as many A-listers as President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden will be sworn in on Sunday. It is Constitutionally mandated that both men be sworn in on January 20.

While Lady Gaga’s involvement hasn’t been officially confirmed as of this writing, many of her fans are no doubt green with envy that the Inaugural Ball is a mostly private affair.

Canadian pop star Justin Bieber is currently on track to become the most followed person on Twitter.

The “Boyfriend” singer is expected to claim the title sometime this weekend. Lady Gaga is currently the most followed individual on the popular micro-blogging website.

According to France 24, Justin Bieber’s Twitter account continues to grow on regular basis. Analysts have estimated the event will take place around 4:23 pm on Saturday (January 18). At present, Bieber has well over 33 million followers.

Stats website Twitter Counter said in an email:

“For now, Lady Gaga is in the lead in follows alone. Bieber’s account, however, is growing at a faster rate.”

Social News Daily reports that Gaga’s popularity on social media websites has taken a dive in recent days. A recent purge of fake “likes” on Facebook reportedly cost the singer around 65,000 followers. As of this writing, the “Poker Face” singer has approximately 33,159,886 followers.

Prior to Gaga’s reign as the Queen of Twitter, Britney Spears was the most followed person on the site. However, the singer was surpassed by Lady Gaga in 2010.

The pair aren’t the only musicians with a ton of followers on Twitter. Katy Perry isn’t trailing too far behind Bieber and Gaga; the singer currently sports 31 million followers. Rihanna is the next in line with 27 million followers. Both have a ways to go if they want to snatch the crown from Bieber.

In fact, the most followed individuals on the micro-blogging site tends to be folks in the entertainment industry. One exception is President Barack Obama, who is currently the fifth most popular person on Twitter with around 25 million followers.

Out of everyone listed on Twitter Counter’s Top 20, Justin Bieber has surpassed them all in terms to actual posts. The pop star issued over 20,000 tweets since starting his account.

Did she finally go too far? Lady Gaga is catching heat for wearing a gun bra, adorned with fake assault rifles, in her first concert since the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.

On Friday, Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Ball tour stopped in Vancouver where she donned the controversial gun bra which featured two (fake) assault rifles attached to it, reports GossipCop.

Gaga did wear a similar outfit for her “Alejandro” video, but the appearance of the gun bra so soon after the Sandy Hook shooting has led many to criticize the controversial singer for her wardrobe choice.

Tom McKay of PolicyMic criticized Lady Gaga’s gun bra, arguing that it is offensive to both sides of the hotly contested issue of gun control in the US.

“In light of all this, Gaga’s decision to don a gun-toting brassiere – undoubtedly with full awareness of its disturbing implications – is tasteless and inappropriate. It rubs salt in the wounds of pro- and anti-gun advocates, and much trashier, the wounds of a despondent and horrified community that just lost 20 of its children.

“Generating controversy from a dress made of steaks is one thing. Generating controversy from the wholesale slaughter of children and teachers is quite another.”

Lady Gaga hasn’t responded to the criticism over her gun bra, and we honestly don’t expect her to. She’s a self-avowed activist for adolescents, so it’s hard to read the gun bra as intentionally offensive. However, while I disagree with McKay’s assessment of Lady Gaga’s controversial wardrobe choice as “tasteless,” I will concede that it is at least in “bad taste.”

Sharon Osbourne posted an interesting letter to Lady Gaga on her Facebook yesterday. Osbourne’s post was the latest move in a dramatic conflict that has developed between Sharon’s daughter, Kelly Osbourne, and Lady Gaga.

The bickering between the ladies started when Kelly Osbourne was interviewed by Fabulous Magazine last October. Osbourne, who has struggled with her weight for some time, discussed some of the criticism she had faced when she was overweight. She particularly mentioned fans of Lady Gaga:

“I get called fat all the time. A big fat whore. Lady Gaga’s fans are the worst. They’ve said I should kill myself, that they hope I get raped. I mean it’s crazy but I’ve had this all my life and I just try and ignore it.”

In the same article, it is pointed out that Kelly had been critical of Gaga as far back as 2009 when she criticized Gaga’s looks, including some weight she had gained at the time.

In response to the article, Lady Gaga eventually posted an open letter to Kelly on littlemonsters.com, a Gaga fan site. In the letter Gaga explains that she and her mother Cynthia, responding on behalf of her foundation, “Born This Way,” were interested in working toward a “kinder and braver world.” She further explains that she would encourage anyone to stand up to bullies, noting that she “deeply cares for humanity.”

Lady Gaga’s letter continues by offering her opinion of Kelly’s work with the Fashion Police show:

“Your work on E! with the Fashion Police is rooted in criticism, judgment, and rating people’s beauty against one another. ‘Appearance’ is the most used reason for bullying in the world. Your show breeds negativity, and over the years has even become comedic in nature … I urge you to take responsibility and accountability for the example that you are setting for young people.”

Gaga closes the letter by pointing out that she cannot possibly control the actions of her fans, although she does not encourage “negativity and violence” of any kind.

In support of her daughter, Sharon Osbourne posted an open letter to Lady Gaga on her Facebook page. She began with her confusion as to why Gaga chose to address the issue in public, in an open letter.

She pointed out that at Kelly’s mother and manager, she had attempted to reach Gaga through her manager regarding the behavior of her fans.

She continued the post by defending her daughter’s involvement with the Fashion Police show:

“You say her work on E! with the Fashion Police is ‘rooted in criticism, judgment, and rating people’s beauty against one another.’ Welcome to the real world.”

Osbourne concluded the diatribe, insisting that the open letter posted by Gaga was simply another publicity stunt and an attempt to gain attention.

“By your actions to Kelly right now, you have shown me that you are nothing more than a publicly seeking hypocrite and an attention seeker. You know it would have been much more dignified of you to do this privately.”

Lady Gaga has not responded to Osbourne’s post. It is also unknown whether Kelly endorsed the letter her mother posted.

Lady Gaga is known for being a beacon of light in the anti bullying campaign, but it seems like there’s one person who isn’t benefiting from it and that’s Kelly Osbourne. The Fashion Police host, who has struggled with her weight and image in the past, told Fabulous UK that she’s being bullied by the singer’s fan base.

Citing that not only is she getting bullied by Lady Gaga’s fans but “they’re the worst.” Osbourne continued, “They’ve said I should kill myself, that they hope I get raped. I mean it’s crazy, but I’ve had this all my life and I just try and ignore it.”

While there’s no reason for someone to ever have to deal with harsh and threatening comments, especially comments that deter one’s self-esteem, Osbourne has probably unintentionally started an internet war with Gaga’s “passionate” fans. The Fashion Police host, is known to be the tamer judge while commentating about the style of celebrities, as opposed to say, Joan Rivers. However, Osbourne admits she might have taken a stab at critiquing Gaga’s eccentric outfits on the show.  Osbourne said, “I have no filter. I say what I think and that’s it.” But, says Kelly, Gaga has a duty to “muzzle her ‘Monsters.”

However, there’s no hard feelings for Lady Gaga, as Osbourne doesn’t take her fans’ attack all too seriously. She even complimented the singer, “I actually think she’s a good singer but she has the worst fans in the world,” Osbourne says, “and you have a responsibility to stop that. I think you do anyway,” said Osbourne.

That’s not the only weight struggle Osbourne has had to deal with. Earlier in the week, Kelly said that she’s constantly shamed and called fat for being a size 4 in the industry. Osbourne weighed in on the original criticism:

“I’m the thinnest I’ve ever been and the healthiest I’ve ever been. The totally insane thing is that I’m a UK size 4 to 6 and people still say I’m fat. I mean it’s crazy but I’ve had this all my life and I just try and ignore it.”

Straight from CNN, it’s been said that Lady Gaga isn’t exactly ringing in the New Year with the best numbers. Gaga, who’s said to have one of the most anticipated tours of 2013, hasn’t been selling tickets as predictors first expected. What was expected to be a sold out tour for Born This Way Ball is now being dropped in price dramatically due to poor ticket sales.

Earlier this morning, ticket pricesdropped at popular ticket site StubHub for as significant as $23 dollars, which is a huge drop from the initial $60 dollars on Ticketmaster. At this point in the game, Gaga, who is promoting her second studio album Born This Way, should be outselling shows. As of right now, Lady Gaga’s first show, which starts on January 14 in Tacoma, still has tickets available for purchase, a rarity for an artist who has sold millions of records world wide.

Perhaps it’s the fact that Gaga has been out of the media for the better part of 2012. When she hit the scene, media filters and the world couldn’t escape her crazy performance artist outfits, and her vocal campaigns for gay rights. For the better part of 2012, the singer hasn’t been at the forefront of the media. Instead, we have the likes of Nicki Minaj making headlines for her outrageous behavior.

If Lady Gaga’s tickets don’t sell, probably one of two things may happen. She might be forced to promote her concert by giving tickets away closer to the date, which isn’t that rare, or she may have to cancel dates. Either way, the looks of any empty seats is pretty embarrassing.

In spite of all this, Ticketmaster is still standing by the face that the Born This Way Ball tour is among the top five grossing tours of 2012. Perhaps we can blame this one on the economy and ticket prices that were originally set at $100 a piece of a decent seat?

In an effort to enrich the lives of her fans, Lady Gaga will reportedly begin offering therapy sessions at her upcoming concerts.

The singer is reportedly offering professional counseling to her fans at shows for free. According to BlackBook, Lady Gaga announced on her official Facebook page that therapy would be provided at her BornBrave Bus during her tour.

The pop star said the pre-show counseling sessions would be a “tailgating experience for monsters to unite.” In addition to mental health care, the event will also feature music and food.

“At the BornBrave Bus you have access to professional private or group chats about mental health, depression, bullying, school & friends. There will also be food and games, DJ White Shadow and Lady Starlight will DJ with host BREEDLOVE to keep the experience fun.

BornBrave Bus Is a place where mental health + depression are taken seriously w/ no judgement, FREE real help available to all. I feel like most kids don’t look for help because they feel embarrassed so mom + I wanted to break the stigmas around “help” and make it fun.”

Ace Showbiz reports that Lady Gaga has also teamed up with the folks at Virgin Mobile to spread the word about youth homelessness during her shows. The singer hopes to get people interested in the Born This Way Foundation, a youth organization started by Gaga herself.

The Born Brave Ball will continue on January 11. Over the next three months, Lady Gaga will play around 30 North American shows before wrapping things up in Tulsa, Oklahoma on March 20.

Once she’s done touring, the singer will likely focus all of her energy on her next album. Lady Gaga recently revealed during an interview with NME that ARTPOP would be a bit more daring than her previous effort.

“My favorite things about ‘Born This Way’ album is that it was risky and its own thing. ‘ARTPOP’ is very risky. If you’re not taking a risk you’re not breaking any boundaries,” she explained.

Announcing the news on Twitter on Christmas Day, the “Born This Way” singer said:

“Merry Christmas little monsters! Terry Richardson @Terry_World is making a #LadyGagaMOVIE documenting my life, the creation of [new album] ARTPOP + you!”

Adding:

‘Thank you for being so patient waiting for my new album ARTPOP, I hope this gets u excited for things to come. I love you with all my heart!”

The controversial artist then posted:

“I love you ‪@Terry_World‬ thank you for believing in me and my fans, I have looked up to you and your work for so long, its a dream come true!”

No details about the title of the documentary or an airing date were revealed, but Gaga’s is ARTPOP album is slated for release in spring 2013, the Hollywood Reporter notes.

The 26-year-old performer has reportedly been working on the new record during her “Born This Way ball world tour.”

Richardson — famed for his often explicit photography and who was once forced to defend himself against claims of intimidating young female models — has worked with Gaga before.

In November 2011, the pair released a photo-book entitled Lady Gaga Lady Gaga x Terry Richardson. It featured more than 350 pictures of Gaga taken during a 10-month period from the singer’s performance at Lollapalooza in 2010 to the final shows of her 2009–11 “Monster Ball Tour.”

In the foreword of that book — which reached number five on the New York Times Best Seller list — Gaga said of Richardson:

Lady Gaga may have to scoot aside a bit to make room in the spotlight for her little sister.

Natali Germanotta, the 20-year-old younger sibling of the wildly popular (and sometimes controversial) entertainer, is making a stylish entrance into public view.

The Daily Mail reports that Germanotta took part in a high-end fashion editorial for digital magazine Viralfashion.com. The Parsons fashion student can be seen sporting designs by the likes of designers Alaia, J Mendel, and Proenza Schouler in the 1950s Italian cinema inspired pictures.

Family resemblance aside, the shoot also has another tie to Lady Gaga. Yahoo! News writes that the photo spread takes place at Joanne Trattoria, an Italian restaurant whose proprietors happen to be the Germanotta family. Located on The Upper West Side and counting Natali among its employees, the dining spot has been plagued by unflattering reviews but has remained quite busy throughout the Fall season.

While big sis Lady Gaga graces news headlines on a nearly daily basis, Natali has managed to keep a fairly quiet profile from the public eye. That may be poised to changed.

Lauded musician Jack White doesn’t much care for Lady Gaga, opining that the singer is “all artifice.”

In a recent interview with Esquire UK, White criticizes celebrity culture as a whole, arguing that celebrities often go out of their way to appear relatable, which inadvertently creates unfair expectations of what’s normal.

“The goal of modern celebrity is to make yourself into the lowest common denominator,” said White. “‘Hey, I’m a guy just like you. I like a beer, a football game.’ Especially in reality television, you’ll see people will go so far as to make a fool out of themselves just to prove that.”

For an example, White singled out Lady Gaga, pointing to her as an example of exactly what he sees as wrong with celebrity culture.

“I don’t think she lives it, because it’s all artifice,” he said. “It’s all image with no meaning behind it. You can’t sink your teeth into it. It’s a sound bite. It’s very of this age, because that’s what people want. They want a Twitter line, a jpeg, an MP3. I think the only people who should have [Twitter accounts] are comedians. Because it’s all about one-liners. You don’t want Gore Vidal telling you, ‘I’m doing my dishes right now.’”

White later clarified these remarks, reports MTV. In a written statement, White accused the press of altering his comments for the sake of drama.

“I never said anything about her music, or questioned the authenticity of her songs in any way. I was in a conversation about the drawbacks of image for the sake of image, and that it is popular nowadays to not question an image in front of you, but only to label it as ‘cool’ or ‘weird’ quickly and dispose of it,” White’s clarification statement read in part. “I don’t like my comments about Lady Gaga’s presentation being changed into some sort of negative critique of her music. If you’re going to try to cause drama, at least get the quotes right.”

White didn’t take back any of his comments regarding celebrity culture but clarified any apparent personal criticisms of Lady Gaga.

White has been busy with his solo LP Blunderbuss, a tour, and various responsibilities at his Third Man Records studio in Nashville, Tennessee. White also said that he will “always miss the White Stripes,” his band with Meg White, which broke up in 2011.

Lady Gaga reportedly scored over four dozen pieces of Michael Jackson memorabilia at a recent auction in Los Angeles, according to the Daily Mail.

Although several people turned up to get their hands on items left behind by the late King of Pop, Lady Gaga managed to secure 55 pieces that once belonged to Jackson in an effort to keep them safe and secure.

The singer intends to have the items “archived and expertly cared for in the spirit and love of Michael Jackson, his bravery, and fans worldwide.” Gaga made the announcement to her loyal fans on Twitter.

According to the Examiner, Lady Gaga was originally supposed to open for Michael Jackson during his This is It tour. There was even talk that she would perform a duet with the singer. Sadly, Jackson passed away before the tour would come to fruition.

Even if Lady Gaga had decided to sit out the auction, there were enough people in attendance to generate a fair amount of money. Reports indicate that the auction brought in a staggering $5 million when all was said and done. A large portion of this figure will be donated to charity.

The jacket that the King of Pop famously wore during his Bad tour brought in $240,000. A pair of gloves outfitted with crystals were sold for $100,000 each.

According to the Washington Post, the auction included items crafted by Jacksons long-time costume designers Dennis Tompkins and Michael Bush. Some of the proceeds from the auction will go to benefit Guide Dogs of America and Nathan Adelson Hospice of Las Vegas.

“There is no doubt that Michael Jackson was a global fashion icon as well as award winning and beloved musician,” the auction house’s website explained. “His wardrobe dictated many of the styles throughout the last few decades. Jackson played a very intimate role in the designs and completion of every costume and piece of clothing he wore both on stage and in his personal life.”

Lindsay Lohan is still being shredded by critics for her comeback-ish performance as Liz Taylor in Liz & Dick, but the troubled starlet isn’t without her supporters. Her family loved the film, and so did Lady Gaga.

Lindsay was apparently “devastated” by the vicious early reviews of Liz & Dick and ignored the Twitter fallout after it’s premiere. Her mother, Dina Lohan, told The Huffington Post “We all loved the movie,” signing her email with a smiley face and the words “onwards and upwards.”

The worst part about Liz & Dick wasn’t the bad reviews, it was the ratings. The film only pulled in 3.5 million viewers, performing well-under other Lifetime TV films like Steel Magnolias, Drew Peterson: Untouchable and Abducted: The Carlina White Story.

“Those reviews would have been irrelevant had she delivered massive numbers,” Media Masters’ Amy Rosenblum said. “Steel Magnolias got 6.5 million viewers. Had Lindsay got a number like that, that would be the story. The reviews and Twitter comments would become invisible. Unfortunately for Lindsay, that wasn’t the case.”

But one high-profile Twitter user was incredibly supportive of Lindsay’s performance in Liz & Dick: Gal-pal Lady Gaga.

Visiting Lindsay’s Twitter also shows that many others are supporting the actress’s performance as Liza Taylor in Liz & Dick, with Lindsay herself retweeting her positive reviews in an effort to drown out the vitriol.

Lady Gaga is pretty thankful for security cameras and locked doors. The Queen Monster had a rude (and nude) awakening last night when more than 30 of her fans broke into her garage after Thanksgiving dinner.

Gaga, who was staying at a rented home in Peru, took to Twitter last night to explain a bizarre post-Thanksgiving incident. The Mother Monster said that she came downstairs to the kitchen (naked) in the middle of the night and noticed via a security camera that a group of people were standing in her garage.

But Lady Gaga wasn’t upset. Instead, she was flattered. Her fans stood in the garage and sang Lady Gaga songs as the singer stood naked in her kitchen eating leftover turkey and watching them on them security camera. Isn’t that just the sweetest thing you’ve ever heard.

Tim Tebow is the most popular Thanksgiving dinner guest in America, according to a new survey.

A Nielsen “Destination America” poll asked Americans who they’d most like to have dinner with on Turkey Day, and Tebow was, at least in this case, first choice. The Jets quarterback was chosen by 23 percent of respondents, and edged out challenges from Big Bird and Lady Gaga.

Tebow, Big Bird, and Gaga all polled ahead of a man with form in winning votes: in this survey, President Barack Obama was chosen by only five percent of participants.

Alas, Tebow might be double-booked for your Thanksgiving meal. The football star is required (well, possibly) by the Jets on Thursday, with the New York team set to play their AFC East rivals, the Patriots, in the third and final football game of the day.

Some other stats fluff that came from Nielsen’s Thanksgiving survey includes:

- 44% voted for Pumpkin as their favorite pie
- 41% called Thanksgiving a “stress-free holiday”
- 64% of men said they were most looking forward to watching football on TV, with 43% of women preferring the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.

The Lay Z Gaga calendar was created by Photographer Lara Jo Regan and the Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary.

Regan said:

“Max just seems like a gay, aging aristocratic diva … When we got his hair cut, there was just something about him that made us think he would be a Lady Gaga fan and dress like her, except he doesn’t really have the budget. I started joking around with my husband thinking if a dog was a Lady Gaga wannabe, and they were overdrawn at the bank, how would they concoct their outfits?”

Lady Gaga isn’t averse to flaunting herself au naturel. Case in point, she was photographed relaxing topless on a hotel balcony in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, covering her goodies with a strategically placed coconut.

Photographed on November 7, the 26-year-old singer appeared on her hotel’s balcony wearing only underpants, covering her lower half with a towel and her breasts with a coconut that she appeared to be drinking from. Why she would expose herself so publicly only to try to cover herself up is anyone’s guess. Maybe she forgot she was naked.

We must note that earlier that day, Gaga appeared on the balcony wearing a bikini top and a sarong, waving to fans as photographers clicked away. Earlier still, she appeared on the balcony in black bicycle shorts, a baggy denim button-up, and black boots, again, waving to fans and photographers below.

Finally, a topless Lady Gaga emerged with a coconut and towel, though in those photos, she doesn’t seem to realize that she’s standing on the same balcony that she had been Evita-ing on all day. The apparently self-aware and topless Gaga meekly hid behind her coconut, leaving us all to wonder if this was an honest mistake, totally on purpose, laundry day, what have you.

But the waves and smiles were gone. Only the photographers remained.

In light of Gaga’s announcement that she is donating $1 million to the Red Cross to aid in the Hurricane Sandy relief effort, she can pretty much do whatever she wants. She’s also been busy tweeting about Brazil lately:

Madonna revealed to a crowd in St. Paul, Minnesota that Lady Gaga turned down her offer to sing onstage with the “Material Girl” singer.

Speaking to her fans, she stated, “I invited her onstage to sing with me. But, she turned me down. It’s okay. I’ve been rejected before. It builds a little character.”

She then added, “I have the best fans in the whole world. So take that, Lady Gaga!”

Gaga and Madonna have had a rather tempestuous relationship over the last few months with the elder stateswoman of pop even accusing the “Born This Way” starlet of mimicking her earlier this year. At a show in Atlantic City in September, Madonna decided to dedicate her song “Masterpiece” to Gaga saying, “I love her. I love her. I do love her. Imitation is the highest form of flattery.”

The former Mrs. Guy Ritchie has also stated that Gaga’s “Born This Way” bares an incredible resemblance to her 1989 smash hit “Express Yourself.” On her tour she has always used the opportunity to mash the two songs together and then even played a track entitled, “She’s Not Me,” to really ram the point home.

Madonna is currently coming to the end of her North American tour with her last scheduled performance in the country coming on November 20 in Miami after which she will head to South America for a string of dates.

It’s also been revealed that Madonna is officially the biggest-selling female artist in UK chart history, having sold over 17.8 million records since 1984′s Holiday.

Lady Gaga made a $1 million donation to the American Red Cross today in order to help victims of Hurricane Sandy in New York.

Gaga, a native of New York, wrote on her website:

“If it wasn’t for NYC: the Lower Eastside, Harlem, the Bronx and Brooklyn, I would not be the woman or artist that I am today … New York is relentless ambition, a drive to succeed, a place where there is a natural pursuit of diversity through compassion. Please accept this gift on behalf of myself, my parents Joe and Cynthia, and my sister Natali; with our deepest gratitude New York for raising us. Thank you for helping me build my spirit. I will now help you rebuild yours. Sincerely, Lady Gaga and The Germanottas”

Lady Gaga’s $1 million donation is just the latest charitable act from a high-profile celebrity in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. NBC recently raised $23 million during a benefit concert that featured musicians like Bruce Springsteen, Christina Aguilera and Jimmy Fallon and Chelsea Handler donated $100,000 to the relief effort. Several celebrities have also used their status to ask for donations to the Red Cross.

CNN reports that companies like JPMorgan Chase, Walt Disney and Mercedes-Benz USA have also donated $1 million or more to relief efforts along the east coast.

In a recent interview, Lady Gaga talked about the media’s reaction to her apparent weight gain, and while she started nobly, she may have taken a diversion into pettiness by comparing herself to another famous singer, Adele.

Speaking to Stylist UK, Lady Gaga talked about her weight gain, which inspired her to create a “Body Revolution” movement across social media platforms to draw attention to (or rather, away from) the media’s obsession with female body image. Discussing her initial reaction to media coverage of her weight gain, Lady Gaga said:

“When I heard it was on the news — where they talk about wars, the economy crashing and the election – I just thought, ‘this is f—— ridiculous.’ I mean, what kind of example is that to a young girl sitting at home?”

Lady Gaga continued by discussing media attention paid to other celebrities who are considered “overweight,” including British crooner Adele:

“I thought, well I don’t really care if they think I’m fat, because, quite honestly, I did gain about 30 pounds. Adele is bigger than me, how come nobody says anything about it?”

Actually, Adele’s weight has received quite a lot of criticism over the years. She has been called “too fat” by designer Karl Lagerfeld, she has cancelled a US tour (allegedly) over criticism, and has given numerous interviews on the subject. So, Lady Gaga is technically wrong when she says that no one talks about Adele’s weight.

Still, Gaga was quick to compliment the “Skyfall” singer:

“She’s so wonderful and I think her confidence is something I have to match. She has set the bar very high for a lot of women. I need to be a confident woman and just say politically active things when I can that are helpful to young people.”

Lady Gaga showed her support for nudity and marijuana legalization last night with her topless “Cannabis Queen” Halloween costume.

The Mother Monster wore a sparkly green skirt, as little as possible over her breasts, and a crown adorned with marijuana leaves at a party last night in Puerto Rico. People Magazine reports that Lady Gaga was dressed up as a “Cannabis Queen,” but the singer described her costume a little differently on Twitter.

Lady Gaga wrote: “So I was weed for Halloween.”

Gaga posted several photos of herself on Twitter and her website LittleMonsters.com.

Gaga wrote on Twitter:

“I love you guys so much. had such a blast tonight. The show, the rumba afterward. Puerto Rico knows how to have fun. I love my fans … I was weed for halloween. BEST COSTUME EVER ITS SO FUN. Princess High the Cannabis Queen.”

Lady Gaga may have had a good time on Halloween, but she also said that she was devastated as she watched Hurricane Sandy make landfall along the east coast. Gaga, who grew up in New York, wrote in a blog post:

“I’m not sure where to put these feelings. I’m so sad. I feel like my entire childhood is underwater. The boardwalk in Atlantic City, my old apts in Brooklyn and LES (Lower East Side). All the bars and friends. I’m just so sad. I know it will be OK. I’m not sure why I feel this way. Hurricane Sandy has ravaged the homes all along the east coast while residents can only watch the aftermath of the storm, residents including Lady Gaga, who grew up in an area now potentially destroyed by the hurricane.

“im so sad. i feel like my entire childhood is underwater,” the superstar wrote on her website. “The boardwalk in atlantic city, my old Apts in Brooklyn and LES. all the bars and friends. im just so sad.”

Lady Gaga is not the only star in mourning. Lea Thompson, Back To The Future star, had “every reason to believe her home on Fire Island, N.Y., had been ravaged – and likely lost.” Reports indicate that the storm’s surge had destroyed homes and properties in the New York beach community on Monday.

Thompson, who currently stars on ABC Family’s Switched At Birth, appeared nonetheless cheerful at Monday’s taping of Dancing with the Stars. When asked why she seemed to still be her “usual, exuberant self,” she responded:

“Well, because it’s hilarious. My husband just paid off a 30-year mortgage in September. I thought this would be just perfect if the house is completely gone!”

While Thompson and her husband have fire insurance, the star confides, “You don’t really get that much.” Thompson added, “It’s sad. I’m mourning my little house on Fire Island.”

Lady Gaga is never one to back down from a battle, so, when South African rap group Die Antwoord took a swipe at her weight, the singer was quick to respond.

The rap duo that makes up Die Antwoord made a not-so-subtle call out of Lady Gaga in the music video for their new single, “Fatty Boom Boom.” In the video, a singer very obviously made to represent Lady Gaga is shown in an unflattering light, and, after being put through the ringer, the look-alike is eaten by a lion in the end.

Lady Gaga was quick to respond, using a lyric from one of Die Antwoord’s songs to call the group out.

She tweeted on Wednesday, “i fink u freaky but you don’t have a hit. hundred thousand tickets sold in SA. #thatmys–t”

The call out not only referenced the Die Antwoord song “I Fink U Freaky” but also took a swipe at the group on their own turf. As Lady Gaga’s world tour takes her through South Africa, she has highly anticipated shows in Cape Town and Johannesburg.

But Lady Gaga wasn’t done yet, The Huffington Post noted. A few minutes later the singer, who had actually asked Die Antwoord to go on tour and was shot down, tweeted the group again:

“i guess its not a good idea to tell someone you’re a fan. never mind! we get it, you’re not a little monster. WE GOT IT.”

Die Antwoord had some words for Lady Gaga as well, responding: “lady… even tho u r ‘larger’ than us… we still cooler than u… plus we don’t have prawns in our private parts… haha!”

Lady Gaga was awarded a peace prize by Yoko Ono this week in Iceland.

The pop singer was given the LennonOno Grant for Peace at the Imagine Peace Tower at Kollafjörður Bay. Gaga was honored for her social activism and was given a $50,000 grant.

The Poker Face singer said that she would donate the money to the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

Gaga said:

“I will be donating this grant to the Elton John AIDS foundation and I will be working closely with them to ensure that the money goes specifically to those orphans and disadvantaged youth in America born with HIV or AIDS.”

E! Online reports that Gaga was chosen for her award for several reasons. She made major contributions to relief efforts in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake and Japan after the tsunami in 2011. She also recently started the Born This Way Foundation.

Yoko Ono said that Lady Gaga was given the award because she combined stardom with activism and helped change the “mental map” of the world.

Ono said:

“Lady Gaga is in a position of number one as a singer-songwriter … And when you are number one you don’t want to risk yourself. And she did.”

Reuters reports that Russian band Pussy Riot was also awarded the LennonOno Peace Prize. Band member Nadezhda Tolokonnikova’s husband accepted the award on the band’s behalf.

Lady Gaga is on a roll. After scandalizing a Barcelona audience during a concert at which she vomited on stage no less than four times, the singer has been behaving badly in London too.

Booked to appear at Harrods store in Knightsbridge on Sunday to launch her new perfume “Fame,” the Bad Romance singer disappointed hundreds of excited fans who waited for hours outside, when she showed up over an hour late and then barely acknowledged them.

Reportedly, the 26-year-old also refused to walk the full length of specially themed black carpet. After posing briefly for press, the singer ducked inside the store to a chorus of boos from angry fans.

Once inside, the singer presided over a tea party for 75 competition winners where they consumed on-theme black macaroons and English tea.

Onlooker Luke Reader, 18, told the UK’s The Telegraph:

“It’s quite ironic it’s called Fame because it just shows how much fame has changed her. She [Lady Gaga] couldn’t even spend five minutes talking and having some pictures taken. It’s not on.”

Sentiments echoed by Alex George, also 18, when she described the launch as “ bit of a let down,” before adding, “I’m obviously annoyed. She was late and I thought she would sign autographs and I’d be able to get a picture.”

Before her arrival at the Mohammed Al Fayed owned store the controversy-courting star posted a tweet saying:

“So excited, going to be at @Harrods in an hour! Just drove though London, so beautiful seeing all the Sunday strollers in love…”

After the launch, the singer met Wikileaks founder Julian Assange at the Ecuadorian Embassy later that same evening. Unable to leave the embassy while he fights a Swedish extradition order, a picture of Assange with Lady Gaga was posted on the singer’s website LittleMonsters.com after their meet.

“Fame,” has reportedly sold 6 million units after its US launch on September 13, making it the second fastest selling fragrance after “Coco Chanel.” The singer previously tweeted her reaction to the astonishing sales figures, saying she was “overwhelmed” by the news.

Notes in fragrance include the poisonous flower Belladonna, honey, apricot and saffron. One curious selling point of “Fame” is that the perfume, though black in color, becomes clear once sprayed. It’s the first of its kind.

The Business Insider reports that Lady Gaga visited the controversial WikiLeaks head on Monday night at London’s Ecuadorian embassy where he has been shacked up for months waiting on his asylum request to go through. Gaga was in London promoting her new perfume and responded to a tweet from rapper MIA inviting her to come out to visit Assange.

We don’t know what happened at the meet up (or if rapper MIA was even there), but Gaga and Assange seemed to get on well, as the singer posted the below picture of the two together 24 hours after afterwards, reports Death and Taxes.

Both Lady Gaga and Julian Assange have courted a fair amount of controversy lately. Not only does Lady Gaga’s career offer new twists and turns every day, she shocked (and inspired) the world by very openly confronting her own body issues and starting an eating disorder-related body image movement. Perhaps Gaga is getting to the point where controversy has gotten her just enough attention for her to start doing some real good. Who knows? We’re fans either way.

Assange is controversial for his own reasons, having earned the ire of most first-world governments through his website WikiLeaks and having been formally declared an enemy of the United States recently. He has spent the better part of the year on the lam, trying desperately to outrun the federal bodies who wish to see him jailed or worse. Some call him a hero; others call him an opportunist. You can find plenty on Assange from both perspectives here on IQ.

Still, the coupling of Lady Gaga and Julian Assange is one of those “so strange it must be true” moments that somehow bridges the unexpected to the completely expected, especially from Gaga. It’s a surprise, but then, is it really surprising?

Lady Gaga’s family restaurant in New York has been slapped with a number of health code violations, FOX News reports. Joanne Trattoria, the Italian eatery owned by Gaga’s mom and dad, was issued a hefty fine by the Department of Health for a slew of unsavory issues, including hygiene and cleanliness problems. Those are always the last things you want to hear when you’re about to scarf down a meatball stromboli.

Overall, Joseph and Cynthia Germanotta’s food-slinging establishment received a “C” by the health department for their inability to maintain a clean environment. In addition to receiving a fine for keeping their prep station in horrible condition, food was reportedly stored in areas where contamination was a strong possibility. To make matters worse, Joanne Trattoria was fined for not having a proper hand washing station near the kitchen area. When everything was tallied at the end of the day, the eatery received 42 total violations.

According to The Stir, restaurant manager Travis Jones doesn’t think too highly of the grade given to him by the Department of Health. In fact, he went as far as to call the violations “bogus.” Since receiving such a low score isn’t exactly good for business, Jones and company and currently contesting the grade. Until everything is finalized in November, the restaurant can either put up a placard displaying their score or one which reads, “Grade Pending.” I’ll take a wild guess and say they’ll probably go with the latter.

“We’re going to be taking it to court. So, it’s bogus until November, when it’s finalized. We’re planning on disputing it,” Jones explained to the New York Post. Given the popularity of the restaurant owners’ pop song-singing offspring, news of the establishment’s unsanitary nature is sure to spread like wildfire.

Lady Gaga vomited on stage during her recent concert in Barcelona yet continued to perform for her adoring fans. According to the New York Daily News, the pop star was in the middle of belting out “The Edge of Glory” when she was overcome with the desire to toss her cookies in front of thousands of concertgoers. Instead of rushing off the stage to put herself back together, Lady Gaga kept right on trucking through her song.

Although vomiting onstage in front a large group of people would mortify lesser beings, Lady Gaga didn’t seem too phased by the ordeal. After the now-infamous concert, the singer took to her Twitter account to address the issue.

“Was praying nobody saw but actually it’s quite a good laugh if you need one! Check out Lady PukeGA doing Swan “Vomit” Lake,’ ” she posted.

To add a fair amount of insult to injury, some folks in the audience decided to have a bit of fun at the singer’s expense. Mr. Paparazzi reports that a handful of individuals in the audience began throwing sausages at Gaga in response to her alleged weight gain.

Oddly enough, Lady Gaga isn’t the only pop star to vomit onstage in recent days. Not too long ago, teenage heartthrob Justin Bieber famously barfed at a concert in Glendale, Arizona. The sudden expulsion of bodily fluids was reportedly prompted by Bieber’s decision to consume milk before his concert. Why nobody stopped the guy from drinking the beverage before the show is anybody’s guess.

Much to Justin’s dismay, his barfing fit was captured on amateur video and quickly uploaded to the internet. Before long, the clip had been watched hundreds of thousands of times. Social media sites welcomed the clip with open arms, inspiring a number of parodies and mind-boggling remixes.

Actress Kirstie Alley has been through literal ups-and-downs on the weight scale throughout her career, so it only makes sense that the 61-year-old would come to the defense of singer Lady Gaga after the latter has been scrutinized for her apparent weight gain, her eating-disorder confession, and the “Body Revolution” movement that she started on Facebook.

“Most of my career I was pretty lean, so when I gained the weight, obviously people [noticed],” the former Fat Actress star told People. “With [Lady Gaga], she gains [25] pounds and it becomes this huge thing.”

The 26-year-old Gaga recently admitted her weight gain to radio host Elvis Duran last month, following up with a Marilyn Monroe quote posted to her website which reads: “To all the girls that think you’re ugly because you’re not a size 0, you’re the beautiful one. It’s society who’s ugly.”

Alley, who has also been scrutinized for weight gain in the past, agrees with that perspective:

“It’s Hollywood that is obsessed with weight. I think everyone should try to be healthy. Lean is better than not lean, but I think we send a horrible message to the world, especially to girls.”

Alley also takes issue with the amount of weight Gaga has gained, contrasted with the level of criticism she has received. The Dancing with the Stars all-star contestant says that the two are severely out of whack:

“She was so freaking skinny that [25] pounds would make her a what, size 2? There’s an insanity here. I know it’s a pressure on her. I know it is. It’s really hard to play that game.”

Since her skyrocket to pop star fame, Lady Gaga has rolled with the punches whenever the media has an outcry over her outspoken nature or on stage antics. However, after facing public scrutiny over a 25 pound weight gain, Gaga has decided to strike back and open up to her fans and legions of supporters about her own perception of her body in hopes of creating a positive message.

Posting on her own social networking page, LittleMonsters Lady Gaga has finally opened up about her own issues with her body, including her on-going struggle with bulimia and anorexia. She writes:

“Bulimia and anorexia since I was 15, but today I join the BODY REVOLUTION. To inspire bravery and BREED some motherf**king COMPASSION.”

This separate page created by Gaga states “now that the body revolution has begun, be brave and post a photo of you that celebrates your triumph over insecurities.” Along with written captions Lady Gaga’s multiple picture postings feature photos of the singer in her undergarments baring all to see her body in her own light.

This is the first public announcement Lady Gaga has made about the criticism concerning her weight, but it isn’t the first time Gaga has fought back. Just days earlier in Paris, Lady Gaga, who’s known for her outrageous outfits wore a large “fat suit.” Earlier Gaga admitted to the weight gain telling radio host Elvis Duran, “I’m dieting right now, because I gained, like, 25 pounds. I really don’t feel bad about it, not even for a second.”

Footage of a Britney Spears impersonator and an X Factor contestant singing a Lady Gaga song could have landed the UK version of the show in hot water.

Broadcaster ITV is facing an investigation by British media regulator Ofcom for potentially breaching broadcasting rules concerning taste and decency.

Britney Spears tribute artist Lorna Bliss appeared on the September 9 edition of The X Factor, where she performed Britney Spears’ “Till the World Ends.” Wearing a body stocking combined with a thong and bra, Bliss proceeded to gyrate and thrust her way through her performance (while singing abysmally), climbing into judge Louis Walsh’s lap and chasing fellow judge Gary Barlow.

The explicit performance, which aired before the UK’s 9pm watershed, triggered 34 complaints to Ofcom.

The media regulatory body has also opened an investigation into a widely criticized rendition of Lady Gaga’s hit “The Edge of Glory” by The X Factor contestant Alison Brunton.

On the face of it, Brunton’s performance (embedded below) was typical of the show’s cruel streak, where a delusional hopeful is ritually humiliated. Yet complainants to Ofcom were more concerned with the plight of Brunton’s two teenage children, who were shown looking embarrassed and somewhat horrified as they watched their mother in the show.

In total, Ofcom received 35 complaints about the potential impact of the audition on Brunton’s children, with many viewers concerned that her 14-year-old daughter and 16-year-old son could be subjected to bullying.

According to section 1 of the Ofcom broadcasting code, ITV has a responsibility to take “due care of the physical and emotional welfare and dignity of people under 18 who take part or are otherwise involved in programs.”

Nope, the “Born This Way” singer seems to have been gorging on a few too many calories over the last few months, and it is beginning to show.

But she now seems to have offered up a very simple reason for her new curves; it’s all of her dad’s fault. Joe Germanotta, the 26-year-old singer’s father, owns a restaurant in New York, and it appears as if Lady Gaga has been spending a bit too much time there and has gained 25 pounds as a result of it.

Speaking to radio host Elvis Duran, Gaga added : “I love eating pasta and pizza. I’m a New York Italian girl. That’s why I have been staying out of New York. My father opened a restaurant. It’s so amazing. It’s so freaking delicious, but I’m telling you I gain five pounds every time I go in there.”

Poor Gaga. She also revealed that she doesn’t feel bad for adding the extra weight but that she just needs to find the right balance so that she can still get muscular for her very demanding live show.

In Amsterdam, she also caused a stir by smoking marijuana on stage and then lauding the ‘wondrous’ drug, stating that she had stopped drinking as much and smoked more instead. Let’s hope that rumors she is pregnant are wide off the mark then.

Lady Gaga seems to be on an attention binge again lately, most recently wearing a meat corset (and no, that’s not some kind of butchering tool or a nickname for a style of corset, she actually wore a corset made of meat) and sparking up a doob on stage during her European tour.

Lady Gaga’s meat corset is only a portion of her many antics across Europe, and we reported on the blunt smoking in Amsterdam yesterday.

But Gaga seems to be charging across the continent in her Gaga-esque fashion, doing all sorts of strange things.

Like, during the meat corset appearance, she also disappeared briefly from the stage to puke. And she returned and told the crowd in Bucharest at the Piata Constitutiei Square venue:

“I went backstage and vomited, and I did not want you to see this … It happens to me sometimes.”

Lady Gaga, I am not a doctor, but perhaps your body is displeased at not only being covered in rotting flesh that is not subject to proper food handling techniques, but also the part about the decomposing animal being constrictively tied about your midsection.

Gaga’s bout of possible dress poisoning did not sour her mood as it did her constitution, and the singer excitedly told fans on Twitter that she was looking forward to her next date:

“Off to VIENNA! I’m so excited. Romania was a beautiful ‘little Paris’ and I can’t wait for the next city!”

Lady Gaga took full advantage of Amsterdam’s liberal marijuana use laws, lighting up a blunt onstage at her Born This Way Ball tour stop at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome on Monday.

Let’s be honest. Lady Gaga is insane. Either that, or her artistic expression is simply too far above our comprehension. But all things being equal and the simplest explanation being best, we’re going with the latter. Just look at the increasingly eccentric behavior she has displayed throughout her relatively short career. In just a few years she’s outdone everyone, including herself, so many times that all that is left is avant garde shock value. Like shaving out a chunk of her hair, sleeping in a giant perfume bottle, and getting her neck tattooed live. Like wearing Muslim garb emblazoned with the c-word and adorned with dead animals. And all of that was just last week.

And like toking up on stage at her recent performance in Amsterdam. It’s not that she’s smoking weed in Amsterdam that makes it worth talking about. It’s that she’s doing it to make a statement (read: for attention).

In any case, she inspected a few cigarettes on stage, eventually tossing them aside. She inspected one that she hoped “was real,” deemed it to be a genuine weed cigarette, fired it up, puffed on it a little, and threw the rest of it into the crowd.

The crowd went wild.

Gaga reassured the crowd that a few puffs weren’t enough to get her high, and then shared some marijuana-inspired clothing items because you’d have to be totally straight to do that, right? She also announced that she will be taking the fight for marijuana use all the way to the White House.

“I will one day be meeting with the President, and talking to Oprah in the next day. I will be talking to you about the medical wonders of marijuana,” she said, totally not high at all.

Lady Gaga is not one to shy away from controversy but her newest outfit could land her with death and other threats from two very different extremist groups.

Gaga was recently spotted wearing a fur laden outfit which is sure to attract PETA and other animal rights activists.

One source tells the Sun Times:

“I’m hearing they are going to try and personally attack Gaga — spraying her with paint or even throwing feces at her.”

One Muslim group in Chicago tells The Sun:

“That comes across as a clear insult to Muslims and Islam.”

While not a direct threat by the mainstream Chicago group that was enough for Lady Gaga to increase her security personnel count for fear that radical Islamist groups might attempt to act upon perceived threats.

Lady Gaga has always been a big supporter of freedom of choice which makes her alleged attack against a group of people a bit odd. In fact Lady Gaga recently voiced her displeasure for the  anti-Muslim rhetoric that contributed to the attack on a U.S. Embassy in Egypt and the death of US ambassador Chris Stevens.

Lady Gaga has received the dubious honor of having a newly discovered parasitic wasp named after her.

Pop music’s leading diva has been immortalized by researchers at the University of Thailand who have named a recently discovered parasitoid wasp Aleiodes gaga in honor of the singer, reports Wonderwall. Why they would name the wasp after Lady Gaga? We don’t exactly know, but i09 opines that the researchers are just “seeking attention — in which case the name is wholly appropriate.”

The Gaga species of wasp was just one of 178 others in the first ever “turbo-taxonomic study” based on a new DNA coding technique called “COI barcoding.” In the new process, scientists use a fragment of the mitochondrial COI gene to dramatically increase the time it takes to identify and prove the existence of a new species. With some thousands of samples already discovered in tropical locales, the COI barcoding technique is proving to be “revolutionary.”

Still, Lady Gaga’s name might not stick with the parasitic wasp, as some researchers have expressed reservation over the accuracy of the new technique. According to biologist Quentin Wheeler, naming a new species based merely on “the nucleic acids at particular bases” just isn’t enough.

“The aim of describing species is to recognize, describe and name the results of evolution,” he writes at The Guardian, “not to proliferate the number of names in reference to ephemeral shifts in gene frequencies or, in this case, in nucleic acids.”

Wheeler contends that “arbitrary measures of genetic distances as an inferior substitute for explicitly testable theories of species based on unique combinations of complex characters,” though he does see importance of turbo-taxonomy to the field. He just thinks that it doesn’t excuse thorough investigation. Still, he does say that turbo-taxonomy and COI barcoding are here to stay, so if the parasitic wasp is indeed a new species, Lady Gaga’s namesake is likely to stay with it, though we’d still like to know exactly why.

New York Fashion Week wrapped on Thursday night, and Lady Gaga decided to celebrate by getting a new tattoo live.

Lady Gaga appeared at Fashion Week to debut her fragrance in classic Gaga style. She singer was inside of a giant perfume bottle, a replica of her “Fame” fragrance, as attendees snapped photos of her and watched her get a tattoo on the back of her newly-shaven neck, reports CBS. Gaga entered the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum on New York’s Upper East Side on top of a convertible, posing for pictures and interacting with fans. She reclined inside the prop bottle, wearing a sparkly top, black skirt and red wig.

Things got interesting when she took off her clothes and wig, stripping down to a thong and lingerie. She then got a tattoo on her neck, which Daily News describes as a “cherub looking suspiciously like Honey Boo Boo.”

Inside the giant bottle, Gaga put on makeup and played on an iPad, while Edith Piaf, David Bowie’s “Fame,” and various tracks by rapper Kanye West played in the background, reports Oregon Live.

Celebrity attendees at the masquerade black tie event included Yoko Ono, Marc Jacobs, Paris Hilton, Michael Strahan, Jason Wu and Lindsay Lohan (who arrived late). Gaga also showed a short film called Lady Gaga Film for the fragrance, a collaboration with director Steven Klein.

Grammy-winning Gaga released her multiplatinum debut “The Fame” in 2008. She followed-up with platinum-sellers “The Fame EP,” and last year’s “Born This Way.” She’s been working most recently on a new album, and got a tattoo sporting the album’s title, “ARTPOP.”
