When Kelly Preston gave birth to her third child last year aged 48, the actress and wife of John Travolta admits she didn’t expect to regain her figure. But regain it she has, and then some, dropping an impressive 39 pounds in less than twelve months. Her secret? Kirstie Alley.

Alley famously dropped 100 pounds and now looks about as good as any 60-year-old out there. The former Cheers actress has since started selling her own weight loss program, called ‘The Organic Liaison.’ And it was precisely this program that inspired Preston to shed her excess weight – Alley’s weight-loss regime relies on organic supplements, and has paid massive dividends for Preston.

Indeed, it took 49-year-old just a few months after son Benjamin Travolta was born in November 2010 to regain her pre-pregnancy weight. She revealed to People magazine:

“I lost 39 lbs., have more energy than I had 20 years ago – and I feel amazing. I’m going to be turning 50 next year – holy s***! Hey, 50 is the new 30. [...] When I got pregnant at 48, I didn’t know if my body would bounce back.”

In fact, Preston was so impressed with Alley’s program that she went out there and landed her bad self a new gig – she’s now the spokesperson for Kirstie’s program. When asked about the program, Preston (with perhaps a dash of overstatement) enthused:

“It’s pretty much the most genius thing ever.”

Although stars like Jennifer Lopez have been quiet about what if any affiliation they have with the controversial religion Scientology, John Travolta and wife Kelly Preston are two high-profile members who are certainly vocal about their affiliation with the organization.

In fact, says Preston, it was Scientology- which is often criticized for its outlandish beliefs and sometimes cruel, sexist and homophobic teachings- that “saved” her following the tragic and sudden death of her teenage son, Jett. Jett Travolta was 16 and on vacation with his parents in the Bahamas when he passed away after a seizure. His passing sparked off an extortion ordeal for Preston and Travolta, and during the ensuing trial it was revealed that Jett suffered from Kawasaki Disease as an infant as well as occasional seizures.

In the dark days following Jett’s death, Preston says, her family, friends and religion kept her sane. In the upcoming issue of Health, she says:

“Johnny is definitely my rock. Kirstie [Alley] is one of my absolute best friends. My mom, my brother. And to be honest, the Scientology center. I don’t know if I would have made it through without it.”

The Jerry Maguire actress- who was once engaged to Charlie Sheen, ending the relationship when he shot her in the arm for failing to procure a cup of coffee for him- says that losing Jett reinforced her appreciation of her children:

“Don’t sweat the small things. Love your kids like it could be the last moment.”

Preston and Travolta have a daughter who is ten, and their baby boy Benjamin turns one in November.

John Travolta has released a statement on the death of his son Jett Travolta on his official website Travolta.com.

The statement reads:

“We would like to extend our deepest and most heartfelt thanks to everyone who has sent their love and condolences. Jett was the most wonderful son that two parents could ever ask for and lit up the lives of everyone he encountered.”

“We are heartbroken that our time with him was so brief. We will cherish the time we had with him for the rest of our lives. We have received many messages of condolence from around the world and we want to thank everyone for their prayers and support. It has meant so much to us. It is a beautiful reminder of the inherent goodness in the human spirit that gives us a hope for a brighter future. With love, John, Kelly, and Ella.”

So very, very sad.

As we reported earlier, John Travolta’s only son Jett Travolta has died while the family was holidaying in the Bahamas.

What we know is that Jett Travolta has a long history with illness, and pictures of him taken recently so show him swollen around the neck, suggesting a serious medical condition.

Denial of Autism

John Travolta kept Jett Travolta out of the public eye, with media speculation since his birth that he suffered from Autism. John Travolta has regularly denied Jett suffered from autism. Pictures of Jett Travolta, although not clear, do not show classic signs of autism.

Kawasaki Disease

John Travolta stated that Jett Travolta suffered from Kawasaki Disease. Kawasaki disease affects organs, including the skin and mucous membranes, lymph nodes, blood vessel walls, and the heart. Jett Travolta is claimed to have died from heart failure that would sadly be inline with Kawasaki Disease; cardiac complications are cited as the most important aspect of the disease. His appearance would also suggest lymph node issues; Swollen lymph nodes (frequently only one lymph node is swollen), particularly in the neck area are common in Kawasaki Disease sufferers.

Long Life

80% of Kawasaki Disease sufferers die by the age of 5, so Jett’s survival to 16 while not rare, was fortunate. Reports say he shared his fathers love of flying, and took flying lessons.
