The content of status updates is a major debate regarding the use of Facebook, with kids and medical woes topping the list of complained-about topics.

However, one mother’s decision to post pictures of her ailing son’s symptoms may very well have saved the child’s life. 4-year-old Leo Kogan presented with a rash that his mother was almost sure resulted from a strep infection. But Deborah Copaken Kogan posted pictures of her sick son on the social network, adding more when his symptoms failed to resolve.

It turned out to be a good move on Kogan’s part- several friends spotted the symptoms of Kawasaki Disease, and directed the worried mom to whisk Leo to the hospital:

The day after Mother’s Day, Kogan got a call from a friend who said her son had had the exact same symptoms, and was hospitalized for Kawasaki disease. Other Facebook friends wrote Kogan saying they thought it was Kawasaki, too.

Kawasaki Disease, an inflammation of the coronary arteries, can sometimes be fatal. Leo was hospitalized for three weeks, and has since been released in improved condition.

Doctors in the Bahamas have complete an autopsy on Jett Travolta, the son of John Travolta, with a reported result that the death was not suspicious.

The autopsy results have not be officially released, but sources familiar with the result said that death was caused by a seizure. Interestingly there was reported to be no sign of head trauma, as earlier reports had suggested he had hit his head, causing the death

Jett’s body was expected to be transferred to Grand Bahama’s Restview Memorial Mortuary, with the remains to be flown home Wednesday to Ocala, Florida.

As we reported earlier, John Travolta’s only son Jett Travolta has died while the family was holidaying in the Bahamas.

What we know is that Jett Travolta has a long history with illness, and pictures of him taken recently so show him swollen around the neck, suggesting a serious medical condition.

Denial of Autism

John Travolta kept Jett Travolta out of the public eye, with media speculation since his birth that he suffered from Autism. John Travolta has regularly denied Jett suffered from autism. Pictures of Jett Travolta, although not clear, do not show classic signs of autism.

Kawasaki Disease

John Travolta stated that Jett Travolta suffered from Kawasaki Disease. Kawasaki disease affects organs, including the skin and mucous membranes, lymph nodes, blood vessel walls, and the heart. Jett Travolta is claimed to have died from heart failure that would sadly be inline with Kawasaki Disease; cardiac complications are cited as the most important aspect of the disease. His appearance would also suggest lymph node issues; Swollen lymph nodes (frequently only one lymph node is swollen), particularly in the neck area are common in Kawasaki Disease sufferers.

Long Life

80% of Kawasaki Disease sufferers die by the age of 5, so Jett’s survival to 16 while not rare, was fortunate. Reports say he shared his fathers love of flying, and took flying lessons.
