Katy Perry performed at the Grammy’s on Sunday night fresh off her divorce from funnyman Russell Brand and it turns out that she may have taken a jab at her now ex-husband when debuting her new song Part of Me. 

Perry, 27, signed her divorce papers last week and during her Grammy’s song performance she sang

“Now look at me, I’m sparking/A firework, a dancing flame/You won’t ever put me out again.” She then sang “You can keep everything.”

In another part of the song she sang:

“You’re not gonna break my soul,” and “Your love was cheap, was always tearing at the seam. I feel deep and you let me down. But that was then and this is now.”

For the kicker she added:

“You can keep the diamond ring. It don’t mean nothing anyway. In fact you can keep everything. Yeah, yeah, except for me.”

While she first launched into her hit E.T. it didn’t take long for Perry to done a silver and gold body suit to sing the new song.

The new track will appear on the extended version of Teenage Dream which will be released on March 13.

Paul McCartney was honored Friday with the MusiCares Person Of The Year award. At the event, stars such as Katy Perry, Coldplay, Tony Bennett and a whole lot more took to the stage to sing some of McCartney’s greatest hits throughout his 50-year career.

Perry was seen at the concert in a flamboyant pink hat and long dress. She kicked off her bit with a rendition of ‘Live And Let Die’ with her backing band, but then she took everyone by surprise when she switched it up and started singing ‘Hey Jude’.

McCartney, who is nearing 70 years old, received recognition for his musical achievements at the event, which takes place just a few days ahead of the Grammys. “It’s great for me to be here,” he told the crowd. “It’s fantastic to hear all these fantastic artists doing my songs.”

Katy Perry wasn’t the only singer to pay homage to McCartney by singing one of the superstars’ tracks. Coldplay got on the stage, saying “”We love Paul and we’re happy to be here,” before launching into “We Can Work It Out”. After Alicia Keys and many more stars belted out a few tunes on stage, Mr. McCartney himself took to the stage momentarily.

Perry is scheduled to perform again very soon, this time at the Grammys on Sunday.

Celebrity couple Russell Brand and Katy Perry are a couple no more after Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Marc Marmaro finalized the couple’s divorce on Wednesday.

The couple officially split in July and Brand officially filed for divorce just six weeks ago.

The exact terms of the divorce settlement have not been revealed however snoops close to the couple say Russell Brand didn’t want half of the millions Perry earned during their time together. Brand and Perry didn’t sign a prenuptial agreement when they wed in October 2010.

Katy Perry and Russell Brand will official become single on July 14, 2012 because California law requires that they wait six months to fully divorce from the time of the judge’s final ruling.

During the judgement Marmaro called for Perry’s maiden name to be restored, before her marriage Perry’s real name was Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson.

Perry and Brand have been through a lot since getting married in 2010. Perry has scored huge hits with  ”I Kissed a Girl” and “California Gurls”  while brand was introduced to a U.S. audience with the movies ”Arthur,” “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “Get Him to the Greek.”

In the meantime Katy Perry will follow her divorce agreement with a much anticipated performance at this Sunday’s Grammy Awards.

Perry said:

“David La Chapelle made the set amazing. It was fun — I got to have purple hair which foreshadowed the real purple hair I had last fall. It’s as if Lisa Frank had done ‘The Little Mermaid.’”

Perry told Marie Claire that she was a big fan of Disney movies and that she loved dressing up as mermaid. Perry also said that she might keep the costume for a future Halloween.

Perry is currently finalizing her divorce from Russell Brand. Brand reportedly filed his papers today and the divorce will be finalized by a judge this June after a 6-month waiting period.

The Inquisitr reported earlier that Brand and Perry did not file a prenup before their marriage which means that Brand is entitled to nearly $20 million. Brand, however, said that he won’t be taking any of Perry’s money.

Russell Brand is entitled to nearly $20 million from his divorce to Katy Perry, but the British comedian says that he won’t take a penny of the singer’s money.

A source told TMZ:

“This divorce is as amicable as it gets, and Russell was a mensch (Yiddish for a good person). He doesn’t want Katy’s money. He’s happy to walk away with the money he earned — which is far less than what Katy raked in.”

According to the gossip site, Perry and Brand did not have sign a pre-nup before their marriage. Katy Perry made approximately $44 million between May, 2010 and May, 2011. During the same time period, Brand made about $7 million.

Since there was no prenuptial agreement, Brand and Perry are each entitled to 50% of their combined worth during their marriage, meaning Brand could walk away with more than $20 million if he chooses to exercise his community property rights.

But according to TMZ, Brand doesn’t want Perry’s money.

Brand filed the divorce papers earlier this week. A judge is expected to make the divorce final in June after a 6-month waiting period.

And now it really is over. Katy Perry has unfollowed soon-to-be ex-husband Russell Brand on Twitter, a month after the British comedian filed for divorce from the pop star.

Brand remains a follower of Perry on the social media site, though is not a prolific tweeter – his last tweet came more than two weeks ago. According to a source close to Us Weekly, the pair are now only communicating via phone or email:

“She’s limiting those interactions. He’s being so atrocious that she feels like she never really knew him.”

Neither Brand or Perry have spoken about the split publicly yet, save for Brand telling a UK reporter who approached him in the street that he was “doing alright.”

Perry has remained trickier to find, canceling her appearance at the People’s Choice Awards earlier this month. On January 7th, she tweeted:

“Concerning the gossip, I want to be clear that NO ONE speaks for me. Not a blog, magazine, “close sources” or my family.”

The couple announced they were splitting after some blazing rows over the Christmas period. Perry is rumored to have suggested counseling, only to be knocked back by Brand, who told her the relationship was over. The pair had been married for 14 months.

Some gossip sources have suggested Brand may be writing a book about his marriage to Perry. Another Brand book was always likely after the big sales of his previous two memoirs, My Booky Wook and My Booky Wook 2. If a Booky Wook 3 is in the works, it’s difficult to understand how the marriage won’t get a very public airing.

The Katy Perry Sims game will be hitting stores soon. The “Teenage Dream” singer has partnered with Electronic Arts and will be featured in a Collector’s Edition Game that will include Katy Perry-themed virtual goods and in-game content.

The first Katy Perry Sims game, “The Sims 3: Showtime,” will be available this march. Billboard reports that Perry worked with Sims Studio to create the sets, accessories, clothing, and furniture for the new game.

Perry said:

“It’s cool to see the Sims’ stage performances in ‘The Sims 3: Showtime’ decked out just like my California Dreams Tour — even my cotton candy video screens are in there! I always like to think of myself as a cartoon, and now I’m a Sim!”

Perry will not only be featured in the game but she will also be featured in a series of ads. EA released one of those ads today.

“Today marks the start of the most integrated and exciting collaboration with any artist in the history of The Sims. British comedian Russell Brand flew to Los Angeles this weekend to have a final meeting with estranged wife Katy Perry.

According to reports Brand dined alone at Boa Steak House on Saturday night.

Brand, 36, is expected to meet with Perry, 27, to finalize the couple’s divorce.  In the meantime a source close to Katy has said all along that she wants to reconcile with Brand and save their 14-month old marriage despite her parents urging to date someone more religious.

Russell Brand didn’t exactly go out of his way to attend the divorce meeting as he was already in town to attend the Golden Globes ceremony.

In the meantime sources close to Brand say he doesn’t want to work things out and is ready to move on and find some closure from the situation.

Brand and Katy will meet at the Beverly Hills hotel where Katy has been a guest. 

News of the Katy’s attempt at reconciliation comes just days after she was tied to Denver Broncos QB Tim Tebow, 24, who sources say her parents would love to see her dating because of his strong religious convictions. But apparently the source told The Daily Mail:

 ”Keith and Mary have also been reaching out to Russell and sent him a text telling him he is in their thoughts and that they love him.”

In the meantime Katy has continued to avoid the press, turning down her invitation to the People’s Choice Awards on Thursday. After ditching the show Perry won five awards and tweeted to fans:

‘THANK U to every1 who voted for me for the @peopleschoice tonight! We won so many! Now I need to get more books 2 successfully display them!’

Now that Katy Perry is official done with Russell Brand, the pop star’s parents are starting to lineup potential suitors. And on top of that list is the mile high messiah Tim Tebow.

Perry’s parents weren’t the biggest fan of Russell. During a sermon Perry’s father said that the divorce was a gift from God (he also talked about the end of the world in 2012 and how Jews are running Hollywood) and that Perry now has the opportunity to find a suitable husband.

According to Perry’s parents, that husband is Tim Tebow. OK Magazine reports that Perry’s parents are pushing for their daughter and the Denver Broncos quarterback to get together.

A friend of the family’s said:

“Katy’s mom firmly believes the best cure for heartache is to quickly fall in love again… In her mind, Tebow is the perfect guy for her daughter. He’s handsome, charming, intelligent and, above all, a good Christian… Katy’s parents watch him play all the time and think he’s ideal husband material… He’s the complete opposite of Russell.”

The Perry’s have reportedly invited Tim to come and speak at their church. No word on if he has accepted the offer, but the Denver Broncos are playing the New England Patriots today so Tebow may have his Sunday free next week.

The NFL Network also believes that Katy Perry and Tim Tebow would be a good match. They even created a picture of what they believe the Perry’s and Tebow’s kid would look like.

According to multiple reports, Reverend Keith Hudson, an evangelical minister, drew ire from the Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) when he told the congregation of the Church on the Rise in Westlake, Ohio:

“You know how to make the Jew jealous? Have some money, honey. You go to L.A. and they own all the Rolex and diamond places. Walk down a part of L.A. where they live and it is so rich it smells. You ever smell rich? They are all Jews, hallelujah! Amen.”

Following news of Hudson’s sermon, SWC founder Rabbi Marvin Hier released a statement slamming the pastor’s offensive comments.

Hier said: “If you take out ‘L.A.’ from his rant, most people would guess that Hitler or Goebbels was speaking.”

The Church on the Rise told CNN in a statement on Tuesday that Hudson’s words were taken out of context.

“Keith Hudson was praying for different individuals and groups of people and he asked for business men and women to stand so that he could pray for them to be blessed and prosperous in their business pursuits,” the statement says. “The comment was intended as a compliment, not as a criticism.”

 

Regardless of his initial intentions for the “Jew” comments, Pastor Hudson has since apologized for his ‘hurtful and ugly language’ by posting a statement on the Anti-Defamation League website saying that he regrets his actions.

“I can’t tell you where I picked up phrases and descriptions that became part of my vocabulary, Hudson wrote, according to the ADL. “I used them without ever considering what they meant.”

He closed his apology by adding:

“I am not going to offer any excuse, or tell you not to think what I did wasn’t so terrible. I do insist, and God is my witness – that I am not an anti-Semite.”

In a statement released on Tuesday, the ADL accepted Reverend Keith Hudson’s apology.

Katy Perry’s father Keith Hudson, an evangelist preacher based in Ohio, has been accused of delivering an anti-semitic rant to his congregation.

Papa Perry apparently offended Jews in a recent sermon at the Church on the Rise in Westlake, Ohio. His weapon of choice? One of the most tiresome, cheapest stereotypes going:

“You know how to make the Jew jealous? Have some money, honey. You go to L.A. and they own all the Rolex and diamond places. Walk down a part of L.A. where we live and it is so rich it smells. You ever smell rich? They are all Jews, hallelujah! Amen.”

I get that all fathers are meant to be a bit embarrassing – it’s in the job description you sign immediately after the birth, I understand – but this goes a bit beyond baby photos and flirting with waitresses. Alas, we don’t know what Katy Perry herself thinks of this yet. I hope she’s cringing.

Critics were quick to round on Hudson’s remarks, with the Anti-Defamation League condemning Hudson’s “anti-Semitic” words, and declaring his speech:

“[...] a reminder that the age-old stereotypes are alive and well and continue to bubble up to the surface in many segments of society.”

Hudson recently called his daughter’s divorce from Russell Brand a “blessing from God.” His wife joined in, telling a congregation: “I’m sure Katy is trending on the Internet just to get you to church tonight.”

Yeah, that’s the real reason. Nothing to do with a recovered drug abuser and an evangelical Christian not being all that compatible. Nosirree.

Katy Perry was set to step out onto the public stage at the People’s Choice Awards for the first time since her announced divorce from British comedian Russell Brand last month and now the pop singer has cancelled those plans.

Perry announced the cancellation to her Twitter followers with the simple tweet:

 ”Unfortunately I will not be able to attend.”

Perry didn’t give a reason for missing the upcoming Wednesday night awards show but she did add:

“I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed! #KATYCATS.”

The show is already set to feature a wide variety of celebrities including Julianne Hough, Demi Lovato, Robert Pattinson, Alyson Hannigan and many others.

Representatives for the People’s Choice Awards have also remained mum on the Katy Perry cancellation.

Oddly enough it was recently announced that Russell Brand was uninvited from the People’s Choice Awards in Los Angeles in order to avoid any uncomfortable or outright awkward confrontations between the former couple.

Since her divorce from Russell Brand pop star Katy Perry has been quite about the situation surrounding the couple’s split, however other people in the media, sources close to her and even her own parents have attempted to tell everyone what she’s thinking.

Apparently Perry became frustrated enough with everyone else telling her story that she finally decided to speak, tweeting a simple message to clear the air about her reason for leaving Brand.

“Concerning the gossip, I want to be clear that NO ONE speaks for me. Not a blog, magazine, ‘close sources’ or my family.”

The comment comes after her parents (both pastors) attempted to spin her failed marriage into a speech about how God ended her marriage in order to bring more people into the church.

Since the divorce Perry hasn’t opened up much but did tweet to fans that she was thankful for their “love and support” while saying words of encouragement from her fans made her “heart happy again.”

According to TMZ mom Mary and dad Keith Hudson both agreed to abide by their daughters wishes and did not mention her or her failed marriage during their Sunday sermon.

Keith however did take a moment to poke fun at the paparazzi:

“I know the bishop asked all the first-time visitors to stand, but I’d like to ask all the press to stand,” he said. “We want to locate you. … We want to get you saved, so you can write good stuff! Amen!”

I’m pretty sure Katy Perry would have been fine with the jab at the paparazzi.

“You know how to make the Jew jealous? Have some money, honey,”, the preacher ranted right before he passed around a collection plate where pleased congregants ponied up cash for Hudson and his wife.

He went on to say “You go to LA and they own all the Rolex and diamond places. Walk down a part of LA where we live and it is so rich it smells. You ever smell rich? They are all Jews, hallelujah. Amen.”

The preacher was asked if it is hypocritical for him to bash Jews as being rich and having too much money and then collect other people’s cash? He replied that he lives off the gospel and nothing else.

“You are the parents of Katy Perry, you must be rich.’ No, she is, I am not, hallelujah.”

This was Hudson’s first sermon since Katy Perry announced her divorce from comedian Russell Brand.  He had this to say about his daughter:

“People say ‘How is it you have a daughter raised in the church and she sang ‘I kissed a girl and liked it’? I say ‘I don’t know.’ I’m sure Katy is trending on the Internet just to get you into church tonight.”

This would not be the first time he evoked the pop star’s name then asked for money.

Katy Perry’s parents this week chose to do what any good church pastor does and use the suffering of their daughter to fill the seats of their congregation.

At their first service Perry’s mom, who is a pastor told a packed crowd of 300 worshippers at Ohio’s Church on the Rise:

“I’m sure Katy is trending on the Internet just to get you to church tonight.” Her mom then goes on to add, “I mean, all over the world, who knows how God is bringing them in? The most important thing is you are here and God wants to put the fire in you in 2012.”

It wasn’t just momma Perry getting in on the action, her dad Kieth, also a pastor, talked about how his daughter strayed from her beliefs. Keith talked about her hit “I Kissed a Girl” and then said of Katy Perry:

 ”I love my daughter and I will always love her.”

Keith then added:

“Stop being judgmental and critical. Do not close the doors to your loved ones, especially your children. Just because they do not like what you do or what you are, they are still praying that you stay in the race.”

In the meantime friends close to Katy Perry tell the Sun that Russell Brand wasn’t a welcomed addition to the Perry clan because he would constantly make lewd jokes at the dinner table with Perry’s uber-religious parents. In fact several insiders say part of the divorces reasoning came about because of family differences.

Russell Brand filed for divorce from Katy Perry, his wife of 14 months, this much we all know.  The question is why?  An article being released this week by Us Weekly may have the answer.  It seems that the Pop Star was not enough to sexually satisfy the recovering drug/alcohol/sex addict.

A source close to the couple said:

“Katy was kinky enough during their first times together and he was very attracted to her. When things got bad, if they got a roll in the hay, they were always better after”

Supposedly Russell brand is also really into some extraordinarily kinky things and while Katy Perry tried to keep up, it was just too much for her.

“He likes dirty things.  He really gets off on one particular porno with a guy in a wheelchair. He’s attracted to things he can’t imagine happening to him.” said the source.

There are other reasons, according to the article that Brand was unhappy in his marriage with Perry.  As a recovering addict he had a real hard time with her partying ways, which she was unwilling to compromise on.  He also was interested in starting a family and she was way too busy.

Additionally, Brand was not very supportive of Perry’s career.  He wasn’t happy that she was away all the time (Brand needs people around him constantly) and he would act very bitterly to her. He told her that she wasn’t very funny in her Saturday Night Live skit, and when he was sitting front row at one of her concerts recently he pouted through out the entire show, looking annoyed to be there.

News that Perry and Russell Brand were divorcing came last Friday, and while the split seems amicable enough – Brand has said he will “always adore” the 27-year-old pop singer – it could end up with Perry handing over $30 million to Brand. Ouch.

The NY Daily News reports how Perry’s estimated $70 million fortune dwarfs Brand’s not-inconsiderable $17 million net worth. Due to the automatic 50/50 split of any couple’s earnings in Californian divorce law, Perry may find herself severely out of pocket. Does Brand adore her enough to leave her riches alone?

The split of the high profile couple followed rumors of persistent fighting. The pair spent Christmas apart with Perry in Hawaii and Brand, 36, in his native London. Both were photographed not wearing their wedding rings. According to a source inside TMZ Perry knew her religious parents wouldn’t be happy with a divorce and therefore she wanted her celebrity husband to file the court papers to dissolve their marriage.

The divorce was so planned out that the couple after a “fight” which may or may not have been real fled to opposite sides of the world, Perry to Hawaii and Russell Brand to London, both locations where they knew the media couldn’t pounce on them together.

It wasn’t just a one way street however, Brand is a recovering sex and drug addict and people have reported that Perry’s constant partying and all night escapades were putting Russell in a bad place, especially an all nighter in Rio earlier this year.

An insider for the Daily Mail  also reports that Brand didn’t really care for Perry’s friends including hitmaking singer Rihanna. 

As one Twitter user humorously tweeted:

 ”I’m just glad Russell Brand and Katy Perry divorced before they made more of them.”

For the last few months, gossip magazine headlines have been fueled by the speculation that Katy Perry and Russell Brand were getting a divorce. The couple denied the rumors at first, but today the comedian released a statement saying that he was filing for divorce from his pop singer wife.

Brand told TMZ:

“Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.”

Rumors about the divorce have been swirling for months. Earlier this week it was reported that the couple had spent the holidays more than 7000 miles apart and that neither Katy Perry or Russell Brand had been wearing their wedding rings.

TMZ reports that Brand filed for divorce in L.A. citing “irreconcilable differences.”

Brand and Perry married on October 23rd, 2010, in a traditional Hindu ceremony. They have no children together.
