Kathy Griffin caught everyone by surprise when she stripped down during CNN’s New Year’s Eve countdown broadcast from Times Square, and now she’s done it again. Recalling the “event” on The Late Show, Griffin decided to recreate the scene and stripped down for David Letterman.

“You know, it went well for me,” Griffin told Letterman of the stunt before stripping. “Every year I try to up the ante a little bit. I’ve done it for five years now and I’ve been fired four years in a row…One year I said the f-word so I had to give the money back.”

“I didn’t want to get fired,” she continued. “So this year I thought, ‘What can I do to not get canned?’ I thought it would be appropriate in Times Square to create a moment, so I took my clothes off. I didn’t tell anyone, I didn’t tell Anderson.”

After showing the clip, Griffin threatened to strip down in front of the Late Show audience, and .. well, Letterman gave her the go-ahead.

“Go ahead. Wow, this is nice,” Letterman replied, apparently eager to accomodate Griffin. “Is there anything I can do? I don’t think I should…Wow, oh my, oh buddy. We’re gonna need some pliers.”

Kathy Griffin fans are getting a late Christmas present, while her detractors and targets are checking their stockings one last time before relegating them to storage, only to find a lump of coal. The Emmy-Award winning comedian has just been granted a one-hour weekly talk show, creatively titled Kathy, to air on Bravo.

So what will the show be about, and when can we expect to Tivo it?

At today’s Television Critics Association Press Tour in Pasadena, Bravo introduced Kathy, calling it a “piercing take on the week’s news,” everything from the biggest headlines to the lowliest celebrity gossip. The show will also “feature stand-up routines, celebrity interviews and taped segments.”

So it’s The Daily Show, but without a funny host and on an unfunny channel, and it’s coming to a living-room near you this spring.

What else is on the lineup for Bravo this year? George Clooney will be on Inside the Actor’s Studio January 31st, and the cast and crew of Glee will headline the program later this year.

Aside from Kathy, several reality-themed shows are filling Bravo’s programming slots, Shahs of Sunset, Interior Therapy with Jeff Lewis, Million Dollar Listing New York, Love Broker, Around the World in 80 Plates, and Don’t Be Tardy for the Wedding. Most of the new shows are spin-offs from old programming featuring familiar faces or premises, while Shahs of Sunset is a new documentary about Persian-American youth, courtesy of Ryan Seacrest Productions.

Close to 300,000 people have signed a boycott against Kim Kardashian and her family, but Kathy Griffin certainly isn’t one of them. Griffin loves the Kardashians. Why? Because they make writing jokes so easy.

Griffin, who debuted her new comedy, “Tired Hooker,” last night took a few swipes at Kim Kardashian, Kris Humphries, and Kris Jenner.

Griffin has a few problems with Kim Kardashian’s 72-day marriage to Kris Humphries. First, who would marry such a stupid, stupid man. Griffin said:

“Kim Kardashian married her special needs boyfriend … I would argue that Kim Kardashian’s ex Kris Humphries can barely get through a Dick and Jane book.”

The comedian also believes that Kim ended the wedding because it was getting in the way of her ridiculous party appearance paydays. Griffin said:

“I think there was a price tag on every day she stayed married to that loser. I think that’s why she got out of it after 72 days. ‘Cause Kim Kardashian gets something like $500,000 just to show up at a night club, shake her [bleep], maybe go up and down the stripper pole…”

The D-List star’s Kardashian rant ended with some suspicions over the whole marriage ordeal.

“Kris Jenner, I worship because she is an evil genius, released her book, coincidentally, two days after Kim announced her divorce. Isn’t that weird? Exactly. It was a tell-all book about being a Kardashian because she was finally going to reveal things about the family. What the f*** don’t we know about that f****** family?”

Did you know that Anderson Cooper, of CNN fame, has yet another new show coming out this September?

No?

Neither did I up until a couple of days ago but then it seems that they’ve turned on the publicity blitz about his daytime talk show, that is already being yakked about as the new Oprah daytime powerhouse, and I am seeing news about is popping up daily.

Sort of like this little tidbit released by the show on the Anderson.com site where he gets comfie out in the sun with a bikini clad Kathy Griffin. Considering that they are buds from way back I guess we shouldn’t be too surprised. Suppressing a gag reflex maybe but surprised, not likely.

As you can see from the image above they look like such a lovely couple just enjoying their time all alone out in the sun with no-one around to bother them. As for the image below, well, that’s just the gallant gentleman in Anderson coming out as he helps Griffin adjust her bikini top.

Rarely funny, always trashy comedian Kathy Griffin somehow managed to land a gig this year co-hosting CNN’s New Years Eve coverage from New York with the very queer straight laced Anderson Cooper. Why we don’t know: times must be really tough, and not surprisingly, she couldn’t keep her mouth out of trouble.

Along with cutting of Lil Wayne and giving Cooper a generally hard time, Griffin was according to reports regularly heckled by the crowd, and just before a break, let fly at one heckler….all on open mic.
