<p>In her tell all book <em>Once Upon a Secret </em>former White House intern Mimi Alford explains her 18-month affair with the former U.S. President, right down to the pairs torrid affair in Jackie O&#8217;s bedroom.</p>
<p>In the book she reveals such details as he:</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;Unbuttoned the top of my shirtdress and touched my breasts.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>After that encounter the President apparently just pointed at the bathroom and as she headed home the then 19-year-old kept thinking, &#8220;I&#8217;m not a virgin anymore.&#8221;</p>
<p>Mimi says the sex between them was &#8220;varied and fun&#8221; and that they spent an “inordinate amount of time taking baths&#8221; but never kissed.</p>

<p>Mimi Alford also says that the President essentially tried to pimp her out to friends, include Dave Powers who the President said she should help relieve some stress.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;This was a challenge to give Dave Powers oral sex. I don’t think the president thought I’d do it, but I’m ashamed to say that I did . . . The president silently watched&#8221; Alford reveals.</p></blockquote>
<p>In a less sexual moment Mimi says the couple cried together then reading letters about the death of the Presidents infant child, Patrick Bouvier Kennedy.</p>

Kennedy</a>&#8216;s life. The John F. Kennedy library are set to release 45 hours of phone calls and meetings involving the legendary President. These will be the last tapes released from the archives and the overall running time will total 260 hours. The last secret tapes cover such tense subjects as the Vietman conflict and relations with the Soviet Union. There are also family moments released which show JFK to be as much of a family man as a politician.</p>
<p>On one particularly haunting call, Kennedy comments on what would be his last day:</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;Monday? Well that&#8217;s a tough day.&#8221;<br />
&#8220;It&#8217;s a hell of a day, Mr. President,&#8221; a staffer replies.</p></blockquote>
<p>The fascinating insight to John F. Kennedy&#8217;s views and approach continues as he is heard discussing the Bay of Pigs:</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;What is it we have to sell them? We hope we have to sell them prosperity, but for the average guy the prosperity is nil. He&#8217;s not unprosperous, but he&#8217;s not very prosperous&#8230; And the people who really are well off hate our guts.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>John F. Kennedy shows the kind of forward-thinking that made him such a legend in his day. In another recording, he is heard expressing concern about the discord between voters and politics.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve got so mechanical an operation here in Washington that it doesn&#8217;t have much identity where these people are concerned.”</p></blockquote>
<p>The JFK Library started releasing material in 1983 and have so far released 40 recordings.</p>

<p>The white Cadillac hearse that carried the remains of President John F. Kennedy to Air Force Once after his Dallas assassination has sold at auction for $160,000.</p>
<p>Sold at Barrett-Jackson auction company&#8217;s annual Scottsdale collector car auction the final price did not include the company&#8217;s 10% auction fee.</p>
<p>The owner of the vehicle originally expected the hearse to tell for over $200,000 because of it&#8217;s &#8220;place in history&#8221; however when you consider that the cost for the same vehicle not attached to <a title="Kennedy Tapes: Do They Reveal Jackie O.’s Infidelities?" href="http://www.inquisitr.com/133167/kennedy-tapes-do-they-reveal-jackie-o-s-infidelities/">John F. Kennedy</a> typically sells for $40,000 it&#8217;s still a nice return on investment. In fact the hearse fetched more than then $132,000 grabbed for the JFK Ambulance which sold at auction in 2011. That ambulance sold even as controversy surrounded whether it was really the JFK vehicle used to transport him to the hospital after the shooting.</p>
<p>According to the auction the vehicle is a 1964 Cadillac hearse that was built by the Miller-Meteor Company in 1963, it would later be purchased for use by the O&#8217;Neal Funeral Home.</p>
<p>The O&#8217;Neal Funeral Home used the hearse through the 1960&#8242;s until it was purchased by a well-known hearse collector eventually sold it to another collector who turned around and consigned it for sale at the Barrett-Jackson event.</p>
<p>Seller and buyer names have not been released by the auctioneer.</p>
<p>Do you believe that $160,000 is a fair price to pay for a vehicle that holds such a significant bit of history for our countries Presidency or is that still too much for a vehicle that made a short trip with the President&#8217;s body?</p>

<p><a href="http://www.readwriteweb.com/readwritestart/2010/01/friedman-to-obama-inspire-entr.php">Chris Cameron over at ReadWriteWeb had a decent post</a> that was basically a re-wrapping of the salient points raised by <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/24/opinion/24friedman.html">a weekend op-ed piece in the New York Times by Thomas Friedman</a>. Of course in both cases the authors raised the immortal specter of John F. Kennedy and his impassioned plea for man to go to the moon.</p>
<p>The quote that has gone down in history as the driving forces behind one of the United States&#8217; golden ages is this:</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not  because they are easy,&#8221; said Kennedy in September of 1962. &#8220;But because they are  hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our  energies and skills.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>As much as Friedman would like to see the same defining moment for the beleaguered country from President Obama it will never happen. Those days are gone and as much as we might like to believe that we can re-boot the country with the same type of heartfelt plea the possiblity of another golden age is beyond our grasp.</p>
<p>The one reason for the success of JFK&#8217;s dream is that it was one that looked beyond borders, beyond ourselves. It was a common goal that never suffered from the threats of internal corporate / government / citizen strife. JFK was able to bring the nation together because there were no threats to the status quo.</p>
<p>Today it might be nice to look back at the time and believe we can repeat the incredible feat but this is extremely unlikely. There are too many conflicted interests. From the entertainment with their secret meetings to radically change  copyright laws on a global level to broadband providers that controls the keys to the gate of innovation and change. There are too many vested interests in keeping the status quo.</p>
<p>If we are expecting to hear some modernized version of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neil_Armstrong">Armstrong&#8217;s</a> famous &#8220;That&#8217;s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind&#8221; statement as he stepped foot on the Moon we can keep on hoping.</p>
<p>For all the hope that the people of the United States have put in President Obama the reality is that any chance of re-booting the country will only happen if there is a collective agreement by everyone involved; governments, businesses &#8211; large and small, and the citizenry all agree to reset the status quo to a whole new fairer level.</p>
<p>Will that happen?</p>
<p>I don&#8217;t really know but if the healthcare debate, the massive profits by big name financial institutions even after being saved by the American people from collapse, and the rabidly media fed polarization of politics is any example it doesn&#8217;t look good.</p>
<p>We need a new &#8220;I have dream&#8221; moment but right now there are too many people and companies lined up ready to shoot it down.</p>

<p>I don’t normally talk much about politics even though I spend a fair amount of time watching the American political scene. Much of that scene lately has been either direct attacks by Glenn Beck <a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/fnc/fnc_responds_to_glenn_beck_calling_pres_obama_a_racist_122881.asp">against the president by calling him a racist</a> or to incite the <a href="http://www.inquisitr.com/36088/white-house-environmental-adviser-van-jones-resigns/">latest campaign against the president’s choice to head a green jobs initiative – Van Jones</a>.</p>
<p>Now I don’t proclaim to know much about Van Jones but in the current climate of news organization partisanship it is highly unlikely that any truth about the man could be found at this point. It has all boiled down to a case of they said – he said from which finding any truth is next to impossible.</p>
<p>What is interesting to watch is how this news organization driven partisanship is being used increasingly to create even bigger dividing lines between the American people. It seems that in the current environment people like Glenn Beck have become less the journalists they laughably claim to be and more the lightening rod for a movement that seems bent on splitting the country even further apart. </p>
<p>Sure organizations like FOX News can hide behind the “he’s a commentator and therefore given the freedom to express his opinions” but that doesn’t change the fact that while &lt;cough&gt;news&lt;/cough&gt; organizations like FOX are getting rich from this kind of so-called commentary they are also contributing to the split of the country.</p>
<p>With people like Beck at the helm of carefully worded incendiary comments that are spread around the world one has to wonder if people like Abraham Lincoln or John F. Kennedy would ever have achieved all the great things that they did. After all they weren’t perfect people either and I am sure that people like Beck and the public pulpit provided by companies like FOX would have done everything they could have to tear those men down – just as they are try with Obama, and have done with Van Jones.</p>
<p>Rather than hide behind white hoods and a hangman’s noose people like Beck use the power of words to incite a society filled with fear to ignore their commonsense and become nothing more than attack dogs. In the process people like Beck make a shame and mockery of our news. They can couch those words all they like in terms of just being commentary in order to protect the companies that employee them with big paychecks; but in the end they are making a joke of the news and of the people who follow them like blind little sheep.</p>
