The 27-year-old star, who is expecting her second child with partner Joel Madden, reportedly checked into a Los Angeles medical centre at the end of last week.

Gossip website X17 reports: “The day after DJ AM’s memorial, rumours began to fly that Nicole Richie – Adam Goldstein’s former fiancee – was admitted to a local Los Angeles hospital. Could she finally be ready to give birth???”

Nicole’s due date is believed to be early September.

Nicole – who already has 19-month-old daughter Harlow with Joel – attended the ceremony in remembrance of DJ AM on Thursday (03.09.09).

An onlooker said: “The crowd was very hip and eclectic. It was a very sombre and sad crowd.”

The service was structured like an Alcoholics Anonymous 12 steps meeting in tribute to the 36-year-old star, who had battled substance abuse.

Joel has previously revealed he and Nicole can’t wait to welcome their second child into the world.

The Good Charlotte frontman said: “We’re excited about it. It’s going to be great.”

Nicole’s father, singer Lionel Richie, recently confessed he hopes the couple will have a son.

He said: “It’s very exciting. Joel is hoping for a boy, but knowing Nicole she’s hoping for a little girl again. They’re not telling me what sex the baby is because I’ll tell everyone!

“Nicole is the mom of moms. She’s in love with the whole concept.”

Writing on his Twitter account, the 30-year-old star said: “I should have a cooking show, or at least a cook book. I’m a damn good cook. I should have my own restaurant.”

But just minutes later, Joel’s culinary abilities failed him as he prepared lunch for his 17-month-old daughter Harlow. He wrote: “Made lunch for Harlow and burned my finger real bad!”

If Joel gets his way, he will be very busy in the next few months. In July, he revealed his plans to write a “meaningful” memoir.

Describing the tome, the star said: “It would be about my life. It would be about, mostly, the big changes in my life – kids, relationships, moving to Los Angeles – that I’ve gone through.

“I’m lightly working on one, but I don’t want to put a book out there if it’s not actually meaningful. I’m not going to go there unless I can deliver. If I put a book out, I want it to be something that matters to me. I want every page to mean something.”

Joel Madden – who is expecting his second child with girlfriend Nicole Richie – believes the time is right for him to pen a tome about all the things he has been through.

He said: “It would be about my life. It would be about, mostly, the big changes in my life – kids, relationships, moving to Los Angeles the big life changes that I’ve gone through.”

The 30-year-old musician is determined to put as much effort as possible into the book, as he wants to ensure it is a significant reflection of the highs and lows he has suffered.

He explained: “I’m lightly working on one, but I don’t want to put a book out there if it’s not actually meaningful. I’m not going to go there unless I can deliver.

“If I put a book out, I want it to be something that matters to me. It has to be real, you can’t just put a book out, to put a book out. I want every page to mean something.”

Joel and Nicole already have 18-month-old daughter Harlow together.

A source spoke to Star and said that Joel Madden was “overwhelmed” by the plans, but warmed up to it over time: “Nicole simply told Joel that she wants another baby —right away. He was a little overwhelmed at first, but now he’s with her 100 percent. They’re both thrilled about adding to their family.”

It sounds like Nicole and Joel are in baby bliss, except for one small detail– Star says that Nicole’s been planning on baby no. 2 to “double their commitment” after hitting a “rough patch.” Sounds risky, no?

Let’s take all of this with a grain of salt, considering the Tara Reid debacle from which Star recently emerged.

Joel Madden lead singer of Good Charlotte and babby daddy to Nicole Ritchie’s daughter Harlow has decided he wants to act and has hired an acting coach. Its a shame he didn’t take the same approach to singing.

Joel Madden has hired acting coach Howard Fine in order to try and break into Hollywood. Life & Style Magazine claims that he wants to become “a powerful source” in the acting world.

We are sure he put it like that too, and followed it up with a maniacal laugh.

“Joel wanted to master the craft before attempting it professionally,” says an inside source. “He really wants his acting career to take off. He’s had small parts in a few films [including 2006’s "Material Girls"], but he has yet to be recognized as an actor.”

“…Nicole is really pushing Joel to pursue an acting career. She feels it will give him more time to spend with her and their daughter, Harlow, because he won’t have to tour all the time.”

We too support Joel Madden’s acting ambitions. Anything to make him stop singing.
