Brooklyn-born Sandra Harmon, now 64, reminisces about being a writer on The Dick Cavett Show in the 60s in her upcoming memoir. The author and relationship counselor intends to reveal many of her exploits.

From high school dropout to divorcing Larry Harmon, better known to the world as Bozo the Clown, Harmon began working for ABC in 1968. She started as a secretary but quickly rose to writer for the show becoming the only woman to hold that position.

The late night talk show was hosted by Dick Cavett between 1968 and 1975 in New York. Along with earning a great salary working for the ABC show, Harmon had the additional perk of meeting of some of the most famous men in the world.

In her upcoming tell-all, she names names of the likes of Donald Sutherland, Burt Reynolds, and Jimi Hendrix.

She describes Sutherland as “no ordinary person” who when they met for a pre-interview, took her hand, and told her she was “nubile.” Harmon shared additional details about her relationship with Sutherland, as well as other conquests, in her interview with the New York Post. According to Harmon, Sutherland contacted her at home that same evening.

Thereafter, the two saw one another regularly for over a year, whenever he was in town. The two casually dated up until Sutherland met Jane Fonda and had fallen in love.

“I have experienced pure joy only once in my life and it was with him. I was 31 years old, and I knew, finally, what it was like to lie with a man whose mind I respected and whose wit I adored. I lay beside this lovely, shy giant and felt totally and absolutely satisfied as a woman.”

Burt Reynolds was a regular on the show. Harmon describes a particular time in the dressing room. The two were “getting frisky” when she inadvertently removed Reynolds’ hairpiece.

Harmon notes being forewarned of the wig by Reynolds’ publicist, as she was cautioned:

“Where I should not tug in case I had sex with him. I had no intention of having sex with him, so I didn’t pay much attention to it except to laugh, and then I forgot all about it.”

Harmon met Jimi Hendrix, interviewing him for a post-Woodstock show. The Woodstock Music & Art Fair was a music festival, held at Max Yasgur’s 600-acre dairy farm in the Catskills near the hamlet of White Lake in the town of Bethel, New York, from August 15 to August 18, 1969. Harmon describes how Hendrix imposed himself, coming to her place with his guitar and getting her to experiment with cocaine for the first time. The two engage in a coke-fueled romp. But Harmon reflects upon Hendrix fondly.

Harmon further details exploits with her boss, other writers, directors, other actors, even an orchestra conductor. But not every experience was a night to remember.

Since her days on the show, Harmon has become a book author and a relationship love coach.

A bunch of new Jimi Hendrix songs will premiere after the AFC Championship game on January 20 during an episode of Hawaii Five-O. 

The CBS show will feature seven new Hendirx songs including ”Bleeding Heart,” “Mojo Man,” “Hey Gypsy Boy,” “Inside Out,” “Crash Landing,” “Hear My Train A Comin’” and “Somewhere.”

“Somewhere” made its debut earlier this week and you can hear the track below.

WSBT reports that the new songs will be heard for the first time by many during Hawaii Five-O but there’s no need to worry if you miss the show. The new Hendrix songs will be released on a new album, People, Hell and Angels, which goes on sale on March 5.

Jimi Hendrix lives, musically at least.

A previously unreleased song Somewhere was played by the BBC 6 Music on Monday morning and is part of a forthcoming album.

The album, titled People, Hell, and Angels, contains 12 tracks and arrives on March 5.

According to NME, the tracks were originally intended for First Days Of The New Rising Sun, the follow up to Hendrix’s 1968 cult classic Electric Ladyland.

Buzz about the unheard tracks has been building for a while. A snippet of Somewhere was teased in a November interview with Eddie Kramer — Hendrix’s former sound manager — who put the album together, The Huffington Post notes.

More evidence of a Hendrix resurgence is an upcoming biopic which tells the early story of Hendrix’s career. Starring Andre 3000 and titled All Is by My Side, it also features Hayley Atwell, Imogen Poots, and Burn Gorman.

NME reports that online fan reaction to Somewhere was overwhelmingly positive.

Born Johnny Allen Hendrix in 1942, the ‘guitarist’s guitarist’ died from drug related asphyxia in 1970 at the age of 27. Touring for many years before his big break 1967 at the Montery Pop Festival, followed by Woodstock in 1969 and the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970 — in those four years Hendrix burned bright.

The guitar Jimi Hendrix is rumored to have set alight on stage in 1967, has been sold at auction for over £200,000.

Hendrix’s black Fender Stratocaster was believed to have been set on fire by the rocker at the Monterey International Pop Festival. However, legend has it that the guitarist switched the instrument with a lesser, cheaper version moments before the incident.

James Wright, a manager at Hendrix’s label, owned the guitar, but sold it for £237,000 ($380,000) on Tuesday in London.

Wright explained the guitar’s history to The Metro newspaper, revealing that Hendrix was looking to outdo The Who’s Pete Townshend, who had, earlier in the day, smashed up his guitar on stage. Wright stated, “Jimi asked for some lighter fuel. He wanted to outdo Pete. At the time, it was his favorite guitar and he didn’t want to ruin it.”

In further Hendrix news, the track listing for his forthcoming album, People, Hell & Angels, which is comprised entirely of unreleased studio recordings, has been revealed.

The songs featured are, “Earth Blues,” “Somewhere,” “Hear My Train A Comin,” “Bleeding Heart,” “Let Me Move You,” “Izabella,” “Easy Blues,” “Crash Landing,” “Inside Out,” “Hey Gypsy Boy,” “Mojo Man,” and “Villanova Junction Blues.”  They find Hendrix experimenting with a wide array of instruments which includes horns, keyboards, percussion, and a second guitar.

The songs were intended for the follow up album to Hendrix’s seminal masterpiece, Electric Ladyland, however he died whilst working on them in 1970.

Posthumous music from Jimi Hendrix is due to be released early next year.

The millions of fans of the rock superstar will be happy to know that March 5, 2013, is the release date for previously unreleased tracks from Hendrix, who many believe is the greatest electric guitarist of all time.

The official Jimi Hendrix website has more information on the new musical tracks:

“On March 5th, a collection of 12 previously unreleased recordings by Jimi Hendrix will see the light. People, Hell and Angels follows Hendrix in 1968 and 1969 as he works on material apart from the Jimi Hendrix Experience and suggests new, experimental directions. … Hendrix toys with horns, keyboards, percussion and a second guitar, exploring fresh diversions from his legendary guitar work.”

In 1970, Hendrix died at the peak of his career at age 27 in London. The Seattle-born rocker perished due to a drug-and-alcohol-related tragedy of which there are many conflicting accounts.

Rolling Stone provides more background on the new Jimi Hendrix album:

“The legendary guitarist was considering these new sounds for First Rays of the New Rising Sun, the planned double-album follow-up to Electric Ladyland . .. The album artwork is simple, yet as distinct as Hendrix’s signature guitar wails. Be experienced yet again.”

A Jimi Hendrix biopic is currently filming with Andre 3000 (Andre Benjamin) in the lead role.

It’s pretty safe to presume that Jimi Hendrix’s name is securely fastened in rock and roll history. Whether this is due to the setting fire of his guitar at Monterey in 1967, his mesmerising rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner” at Woodstock, or simply because he was one cool dude, there are plenty of reasons to adore the axeman.

But by dying at the tender age of 27 in 1970, Hendrix assured that his legacy would live on. What could he have gone on to achieve? Who knows? But now forever preserved as a glorious young guitarist, he is part of unique clique of musicians who are known throughout the world, regardless of whether people have heard their records.

Today marks the 42nd anniversary of Jimi Hendrix’s death in Kensington, London. Having only found fame just four years previously, Hendrix went on to change the musical landscape and became an instant star, with his peers left trailing in his wake at the immense skill and craft he had with the instrument in his hand.

The Seattle born rocker perished due to a drug and alcohol related tragedy, which has often been the subject of many conspiracy theories with Hendrix’s manager even rumored to have killed him because the star wanted to leave his contract. Of course, this has never come anyway near to being confirmed.

With a biopic starring Andre 3000 in the lead role already shooting, expect a lot more coverage to adorn Hendrix over the coming months, but let’s always remember how he changed the sound of pop music forever.

Earlier in the month The Inquisitr reported that  the film that would see Andre 3000, the man behind Outkast, playing genius Jimi Hendrix in All is By My Side, had hit a snafu with Hendrix’s surviving estate completely against the film from being made with Hendrix’s original music.

Now it seems as though the film’s director John Ridley has  come to an agreement with the estate and has complied  that there will be no use of Hendrix’s music in the film.  On Tuesday morning photos surfaced of the film’s lead Andre 3000, otherwise known as Andre Benjamin, as the rock star free loving man himself. His appearance was so remarkably similar to Jimi Hendrix that Benjamin created quite a stir, as onlookers said that he is the reincarnation of Hendrix.

Complete in Hendrix’s garb and signature 60′s afro, Andre 3000 was spotted filming in Ireland where the film is currently underway shooting. Andre did his best to cover his appearance from onlookers and photographers but a few shots were captured and the Internet is anticipating this much awaited biopic that’s been in pre-production for months. As it stands right now, All Is By My Side is said to document Jimi Hendrix’s time in England during 1966 and 1967, but will not feature the man’s legendary music that had put his name on the map before his passing in 1970.

The Jimi Hendrix biopic has been in talks for a long time, but the latest word for the upcoming film, titled All Is by My Side, has it that production has already begun, and that Hendrix will be played by Andre 3000 of OutKast fame.

The news that Hendrix will be played by Andre 3000 (né Andre Benjamin) comes from the Irish Film and Television Network. Filming of All Is by My Side will reportedly take place in the next few weeks, and will go on for about 6 weeks in all.

IFTN reports:

“IFTN understands that ‘All Is By My Side’ will document Hendrix’s period in England over 1966 and 1967 as he formulated his debut album and some of the greatest guitar music ever created. The feature film will be written and directed by John Ridley, who is best known as the writer of ‘Three Kings’ and ‘U-Turn’.”

Benjamin is more well-known for his music career with OutKast, but All Is by My Side won’t be his first foray in acting–he starred in 2006′s Idlewild and 2008′s Semi-Pro, and has made TV appearances on About a Girl and The Shield.

Who is the world’s greatest guitarist? If you trust Rolling Stone’s opinion, then there is no greater guitarist than Jimi Hendrix. Rolling Stone has just released a list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all-time and the leader of the Band of Gypsys tops the list.

Rolling Stone assembled a pretty impressive panel to create the 100 greatest guitarists list. Trey Anastasio, Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple), Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains), Billy Corgan, Warren Haynes (The Allman Brothers Band), Lenny Kravitz, Robby Krieger (The Doors), Mike McCready (Pearl Jam), Tom Morello, Carlos Santana, and several other musicians gave their opinions to Rolling Stone to create the list.

Hendrix, famous for songs like “Purple Haze,” “Foxey Lady,” “The Star-Spangled Banner,” and “Hey Joe,” inspired generations of musicians to pick up a guitar.

Tom Morrello writes: Hendrix guitar was “like a divining rod of the turbulent Sixties – you can hear the riots in the streets and napalm bombs dropping in his “Star-Spangled Banner… His playing was effortless. There’s not one minute of his recorded career that feels like he’s working hard at it… His riffs were a pre-metal funk bulldozer, and his lead lines were an electric LSD trip down to the crossroads, where he pimp-slapped the devil.”
