The Washington Redskins are reportedly interviewing some of their coaching staff for their Head Coaching position. The problem with hat is they already have a Head Coach in Jim Zorn, and rather than delay the inevitable they should just fire the guy now. Come 2010 there is virtually no chance that Zorn will retain his role with the Redskins, but this classless organization would rather interview people on his own staff, than do what many have called for, for some time. The 2009 season is over for the Redskins, and instead of interviewing assistant coaches for a position that is likely to go to Mike Shanahan anyways, the Red skins should fire Zorn let one of the assistant coaches run the team for the last two weeks, and then conduct the entire interview process in the off-season.

There are reports out of Washington DC that both Defensive Coordinator Gary Blache and Secondary Coach Gary have interviewed with new General Manager Bruce Allen for the Head job. Once again the Redskins are botching up the way business is done in the NFL. Zorn isn’t your guy, fine, fire than man already. Why should Zorn have to answer questions about who is interviewing for his job? Why should anyone else have to deny reports that they have already interviewed for the job.

Ultimately this is the problem with the Redskins; owner Daniel Snyder has no clue how to operate a NFL organization. First of all Jim Zorn wasn’t hired to be the head coach, he was hired to be the offensive coordinator, when word leaked that he was set to hire Jim Fassel as Coach Redskins fans became irate, and that plan was scrapped. By the way since not getting the Redskins job Fassel went onto win a Championship in the UFL, while the Redskins seems to be in the same place they were when Joe Gibbs retired.

Whoever they end up hiring, he will become the seventh head coach since Daniel Snyder ought the team in 1999. If that doesn’t prove this man has no idea how to run a NFL organization, nothing does.

The Washington Redskins are 2-3 so many might view their situation as dire, but their two wins came at the expense of two winless clubs and this is a team in crisis. Head Coach Jim Zorn has the appearance of a coach just playing out his string waiting to be fired, and for the amount of payroll on this team; they should at least be contenders.

However it seems their owner, Daniel Snyder, has not a clue how to run a NFL team.
Snyder routinely treat the Redskins like his own personal Fantasy team. Instead of building up a corps of young talent he goes out each off season and picks up the most expensive free agent he can find. He has vastly overpaid for his players, and has passed on the expense of those signings to his fan base.

This team tried to hire Jim Fassel twice, once in 2004 before Joe Gibbs was lured out of retirement, and again following Gibbs’ second retirement. Fassel wanted Jim Zorn to be his Offensive coordinator, and was also interested in hiring Rex Ryan to be his Defensive coordinator. After news leaked that Fassel was the man for the job, many were particularly negative about the hiring. Due to contractual obligations only Zorn was able to interview to be on the staff so Snyder made him his head coach. Fassel Went on to take a job with the UFL, and that may just be the best decision, he ever made.

Zorn simply wasn’t ready to be a NFL head coach. The proof of that, beyond their record seems to be the fat that last Sunday this team had a tackle playing guard, and a guard playing tackle. This team also gave up five sacks and only gained 198 yards to the hapless Carolina Panthers. Zorn cannot manage the game; they blew their last timeout Sunday with 8 minutes still left to play.

Three weeks into the 2009 NFL season we can start to see, and in some cases guess at which NFL Head Coaches are on the hot seat. At this point in the season there are seven teams who have yet to win a game, and there are four more that have only won win. Some of these teams are bad, and were expected to be bad, some are struggling through Head Coach changes in the off season, and some are just underperforming. With that said here are the three coaches whose jobs are most in jeopardy.

Jim Zorn Head Coach of the Washington Redskins became the first coach to lose to the Detroit Lions in 19 tries, that fact alone seems to show that Zorn may soon lose his job. Let us not forget he is the employee of the worst NFL owner Daniel Snyder. Snyder is known for switching coaches whenever he feels fit, and spending big money on flop free agents. With that being said the Redskins are just awful. After starting the 2008 season 6-2 they are 3-8 since then. That is not good enough and Zorn most likely will become the first NFL Head Coach fired in the 2009 season.

John Fox and the Carolina Panthers are struggling, after winning their division they are off to a 0-3 start, and it is that time for Fox to bench starting QB Jake Delhomme. If he does so, he may just save his job. If he fails to do so then most likely the Panthers will continue to lose, and Fox will get himself fired. Remember Bill Cowher is from the North Carolina area, and could be looking.

While it may not be fair to put first year Cleveland Browns, Head man Eric Mangini into this list, the fact is the Browns are a mess. It does not appear that Mangini’s heavy handed, approach to his players is what the Browns need at this point. There are far too many rumors coming from this locker room for Mangini to feel secure in his job.
