In her tell all book Once Upon a Secret former White House intern Mimi Alford explains her 18-month affair with the former U.S. President, right down to the pairs torrid affair in Jackie O’s bedroom.

In the book she reveals such details as he:

“Unbuttoned the top of my shirtdress and touched my breasts.”

After that encounter the President apparently just pointed at the bathroom and as she headed home the then 19-year-old kept thinking, “I’m not a virgin anymore.”

Mimi says the sex between them was “varied and fun” and that they spent an “inordinate amount of time taking baths” but never kissed.

Apparently JFK also had some jealousy involving Vice President Lyndon Johnson when he told Mimi “stay way from him.”

Mimi Alford also says that the President essentially tried to pimp her out to friends, include Dave Powers who the President said she should help relieve some stress.

“This was a challenge to give Dave Powers oral sex. I don’t think the president thought I’d do it, but I’m ashamed to say that I did . . . The president silently watched” Alford reveals.

In a less sexual moment Mimi says the couple cried together then reading letters about the death of the Presidents infant child, Patrick Bouvier Kennedy.

The one time she refused sexual favors was when JFK allegedly said she would “take care of my baby brother. He could stand a little relaxation.” She “absolutely” refused.

“What is it we have to sell them? We hope we have to sell them prosperity, but for the average guy the prosperity is nil. He’s not unprosperous, but he’s not very prosperous… And the people who really are well off hate our guts.”

John F. Kennedy shows the kind of forward-thinking that made him such a legend in his day. In another recording, he is heard expressing concern about the discord between voters and politics.

Well if this week has a theme, that theme is spectacularly quitting your job will either be a) totally a lie or b) only end in having to contritely and publicly beg for your bosses to hire you back.

Steven Slater’s beer-stealing, emergency slide deploying resignation not only allowed Americans to live vicariously through his $25K in damage exit, but captured worldwide interest. Slater quickly earned the “folk hero” label, and there was buzz about reality shows and the like. But that was two long, regret filled days ago, and now the rogue flight attendant would like his job back, please thank you.

Per Gawker, Slater actually really dug being a flight attendant and would really be happy if JetBlue ignored the whole “screw you guys, I’m going home” plus big yellow slide plus ensuing media attention thing:

Slater’s lawyer, Howard Turman, held a press conference today outside Slater’s home, during which Slater looked silently on. He told the press that Slater would like to keep being a flight attendant because flying “is in his blood.” And he’d love to keep working for JetBlue:

“JetBlue is a wonderful airline which he has loved working for, and wishes to continue working for,” said his lawyer.

Well, that’s embarrassing.

Flight attendant turned folk hero Steven Slater was in good spirits and cracking jokes last night after being bailed out of a Bronx prison, retaining his good mood even after his cab driver returned him to the joint due to all the media attention.

Slater pleaded not guilty to reckless endangerment yesterday afternoon in a Queens courtroom and $2,500 bail was posted for him, although it’s not clear if the Steven Slater Legal Defense Fund on Facebook chipped in. Upon his ejection from the cab, a reported asked if Slater had forgotten something, to which he replied, “my dignity.” But it sounds like he may not have worry too much about the future of his career:

Asked about his plans, Slater cryptically said, “I have some things lined up,” adding that he was looking forward to “a little down time, a little beach time, enjoying the rest of the summer.”

And while Slater was a bit stunned by the massive interest in his story, he wasn’t too surprised it “resonated” with so many people:

“I think some things about this resonated with people,” Slater added, referring to the fact that he essentially told his employers to take their job and shove it after his tussle with a rude passenger over her large amount of baggage.

Interviewed at her home on the West Coast, Slater’s mom sided with her son and said the passenger should have been arrested:

“I think he just had a very small meltdown, and I think he deserves to be able to have that meltdown if you saw the egg on his head where he got smacked,” she said in the driveway of her home in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

Diane Slater told the station that the passenger should face charges for interfering with an airplane crew member, her son, and “smacking him in the head.”

Authorities said the slide deployed by Slater costs $25,00 to replace once it is used.

Rogue JetBlue flight attendant freed from Bronx jail to media circus is a post from: The Inquisitr

Steven Slater’s MySpace photos seem to depict a man who really, really digs his job as a flight attendant for JetBlue.

But being a skynanny probably isn’t all it’s cracked up to be all the time. After a heated exchange with a cranky passenger that culminated in Slater being whacked in the head with a piece of luggage, the 39-year-old steward wasn’t having it:

Mr. Slater asked for an apology. The passenger instead cursed at him. Mr. Slater got on the plane’s public address system and cursed out all aboard. Then he activated the inflatable evacuation slide at service exit R1, launched himself off the plane, an Embraer 190, ran to the employee parking lot and left the airport in a car he had parked there.

I said “good day.” Slater was apprehended not long after at his home in Queens. JetBlue didn’t comment much on the situation, saying:

“At no time was the security or safety of our customers or crew members at risk.”

The discount carrier also said it was working with the FAA and the Port Authority to investigate the incident.

Chris Cameron over at ReadWriteWeb had a decent post that was basically a re-wrapping of the salient points raised by a weekend op-ed piece in the New York Times by Thomas Friedman. Of course in both cases the authors raised the immortal specter of John F. Kennedy and his impassioned plea for man to go to the moon.

The quote that has gone down in history as the driving forces behind one of the United States’ golden ages is this:

“We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy,” said Kennedy in September of 1962. “But because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills.”

As much as Friedman would like to see the same defining moment for the beleaguered country from President Obama it will never happen. Those days are gone and as much as we might like to believe that we can re-boot the country with the same type of heartfelt plea the possiblity of another golden age is beyond our grasp.

The one reason for the success of JFK’s dream is that it was one that looked beyond borders, beyond ourselves. It was a common goal that never suffered from the threats of internal corporate / government / citizen strife. JFK was able to bring the nation together because there were no threats to the status quo.

Today it might be nice to look back at the time and believe we can repeat the incredible feat but this is extremely unlikely. There are too many conflicted interests. From the entertainment with their secret meetings to radically change  copyright laws on a global level to broadband providers that controls the keys to the gate of innovation and change. There are too many vested interests in keeping the status quo.

If we are expecting to hear some modernized version of Armstrong’s famous “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind” statement as he stepped foot on the Moon we can keep on hoping.

For all the hope that the people of the United States have put in President Obama the reality is that any chance of re-booting the country will only happen if there is a collective agreement by everyone involved; governments, businesses – large and small, and the citizenry all agree to reset the status quo to a whole new fairer level.

Will that happen?

I don’t really know but if the healthcare debate, the massive profits by big name financial institutions even after being saved by the American people from collapse, and the rabidly media fed polarization of politics is any example it doesn’t look good.

We need a new “I have dream” moment but right now there are too many people and companies lined up ready to shoot it down.

TMZ has been on a roll this year, but that doesn’t make the gossip giant immune from falling for a hoax, and today’s effort will be long remembered.

TMZ has an “exclusive” photograph up on site which is claimed to show JFK on a boat in 1956 with nude women. They’ve even rolled out “experts” to verify that the photo shows JFK, and claim that the photo “could have changed history.”

It sounds good in theory, except that the photograph comes from a November 1967 Playboy photo spread titled “Charter Yacht Party: How to Have a Ball on the Briny with an Able-Bodied Complement of Ship’s Belles,” and shows a model on the boat, not JFK.

The Smoking Gun has the details here, along with a side-by-side comparison of the original color photograph from Playboy (above), and the (strangely switched to black and white and now crumpled) photo from TMZ.

At the time of writing, TMZ is sticking by its story, but you’d have to think it’s only a matter of time until they pull it. For prosperity, a shot from TMZ as follows:

I don’t normally talk much about politics even though I spend a fair amount of time watching the American political scene. Much of that scene lately has been either direct attacks by Glenn Beck against the president by calling him a racist or to incite the latest campaign against the president’s choice to head a green jobs initiative – Van Jones.

Now I don’t proclaim to know much about Van Jones but in the current climate of news organization partisanship it is highly unlikely that any truth about the man could be found at this point. It has all boiled down to a case of they said – he said from which finding any truth is next to impossible.

What is interesting to watch is how this news organization driven partisanship is being used increasingly to create even bigger dividing lines between the American people. It seems that in the current environment people like Glenn Beck have become less the journalists they laughably claim to be and more the lightening rod for a movement that seems bent on splitting the country even further apart.

Sure organizations like FOX News can hide behind the “he’s a commentator and therefore given the freedom to express his opinions” but that doesn’t change the fact that while <cough>news</cough> organizations like FOX are getting rich from this kind of so-called commentary they are also contributing to the split of the country.

With people like Beck at the helm of carefully worded incendiary comments that are spread around the world one has to wonder if people like Abraham Lincoln or John F. Kennedy would ever have achieved all the great things that they did. After all they weren’t perfect people either and I am sure that people like Beck and the public pulpit provided by companies like FOX would have done everything they could have to tear those men down – just as they are try with Obama, and have done with Van Jones.

Rather than hide behind white hoods and a hangman’s noose people like Beck use the power of words to incite a society filled with fear to ignore their commonsense and become nothing more than attack dogs. In the process people like Beck make a shame and mockery of our news. They can couch those words all they like in terms of just being commentary in order to protect the companies that employee them with big paychecks; but in the end they are making a joke of the news and of the people who follow them like blind little sheep.
