Jerry Seinfeld is back on the small screen but this time it’s not a new TV series but rather a Super Bowl commercial for the Acura NSX.

In the commercial Seinfeld sets out to own the first Acura NSX by wooing the first customer to get their hands on the new vehicle.

The ad is rather elaborate and features Seinfeld attempting to woo the new NSX owner with various gifts including a steaming hot pot of soup from the famous “soup Nazi” for which Seinfeld remarks, “I own all of the characters.”

The commercial is a rather long one minutes and fifty two seconds which could mean big bucks for nearly four Super Bowl ad spots should it air in it’s entirety.

In the end it’s Jay Leno who thwarts Jerry Seinfeld’s attempt at owning the first Acura NSX.

The 1990′s Jerry Seinfeld just got a new dog, and immediately lumbered the poor pooch with a name that in no way passes the Park Test™. Yes, Seinfeld called his dog Jose Reyes. Yes, it’s named after the former New York Mets shortstop of the same name. No, I don’t really get it either.

Naming pets after sports heroes is not a new trend – I have personally encountered more than one dog called Ali – but ‘Jose Reyes’? It’s odd, and not just because not many dogs are called Jose Reyes.

It’s odd because Reyes has been a free agent since leaving the Mets, the team Seinfeld holds so close to his heart, immediately after the 2011 World Series. He’s currently a free agent looking for a gig elsewhere in MLB.

Is the 57-year-old comic desperately behind on his sports news then? Well, no. Reyes’ departure is why the dog got its name, says the comedian. As he told David Letterman last week:

“You want to know why the dog is named Jose? … The dog is named Jose because I feel like we may lose Jose Reyes, and we’re trying to keep a Jose. Because I’m a Met fan. It’s actually my wife’s idea, which is why I love my wife — she comes up with ideas like this. That’s a marriage right there, a wife that says, ‘Let’s name a dog after the Mets’ outgoing shortstop.’ That keeps the love alive.”

When Regis Philbin leaves “Live! With Regis and Kelly” later this month, his hosting shoes will be filled by Jerry Seinfeld. But don’t get too excited Seinfeld fans, Jerry will only be filling in for a few days.

According to a statement from the show, Jerry Seinfield will join Kelly Rippa as the host of “LIVE!” for three days in November.

Executive producer Michael Gelman said:

“Jerry is a great friend of ours, and a friend of Kelly’s, and it doesn’t hurt that he’s an entertainment icon… It’s a great way to kick off the new beginning of our new show.”

When Regis retires later this month, “LIVE! With Regis and Kelly” will become “LIVE! With Kelly.” Seinfeld will help Ripa get used to the new show from November 21-23. According to Reuters, Jerry and Kelly will be visited by Kim Cattrall, Howie Mandel, Jason Segal, chef Jamie Oliver and Muppet Miss Piggy.

Philbin has been the host of “Live!” for the last 28 years. Regis, now 80-years-old, announced his retirement in January. His final appearance on “LIVE!” will be on November 19th.

Jerry Seinfeld has put one of his homes up for sale- an 11 bedroom, 14 bedroom palace in ski haven Telluride, Colorado.

The titular Seinfeld character- who still made hundreds of millions of dollars from the TV classic as recently as 2008- is hanging on to fancier properties in Manhattan and the Hamptons. The latter houses a full-size baseball field and ostensibly, Seinfeld’s sizable car collection. The 26-acre Telluride property Seinfeld is offloading is no shack either, at 14,000 square feet and close to the Telluride Ski Resort.

However, BI points out that one set of interested parties may wish to take care in a Seinfeld real estate deal- potential brokers- citing a 2005 real estate-related lawsuit:

[The Seinfelds] hired a real estate broker to assist them with a home purchase. However, Seinfeld located the Manhattan townhouse and desired to view the property when the broker wasn’t available. The couple struck up a deal with the homeowner and purchased the property without paying commission to their broker… The Seinfeld lawyers debated that compensation would be rendered for time spent but stressed commission was unacceptable since the broker did not actually make the sale. The court ruled in favor of the broker and awarded $98,750 for commission on the property.

Kohlenberg, a 47-year-old beauty-products salesman, claims that after getting 15 minutes of fame bickering on the March 4, 2010, premiere episode of The Marriage Ref, his now ex-wife, Christine, became so obsessed with becoming a star it ruined their 14-year marriage.

“The people on the show were pumping us up, saying, ‘You’re going to wake up and be stars. You’re going to be famous and make money.’ The producer kept saying her lips looked great, and all of a sudden she was getting a lot of Botox.”

Eventually, 37-year-old Christine flew to Los Angeles to star in a comedy movie called “Chakra Love” and then left Kohlenberg for one of the film’s producer.

On top of that, Howie says that since appearing on the show he has also been forced to file for bankruptcy and is currently facing eviction from his home.

“The headline should read, ‘Jerry Seinfeld ruined my life: the danger of reality shows’”

While Kohlenberg admited that his marriage wasn’t perfect, he explained that the reason behind auditioning for the the show was to drum up business for a now-defuct spa that he and his former wife co-owned.

“I’m not saying our marriage was perfect, but it put it in a whole new direction. It was the nail in the coffin.

When asked what he thought about the accusations, Seinfeld responded:

“When people get upset I enjoy it. That he’s having problems, and blaming me, it’s all -” Seinfeld paused, then added, “Anything that alleviates the withering, blithering boredom of existence I’m in favor of.”

Jerry Seinfeld, who you may remember from 90s sitcom Seinfeld, took some shots at Lady Gaga during a New York area radio show after the pop-tart was spotted behaving badly in his seats at a Met game.

Gaga, who showed up at a recent Mets-Padres game in lingerie and flipped off photographers, was moved to Seinfeld’s box seats in the seventh inning. Jerry wasn’t impressed by her headline grabbing antics:

“This woman is a jerk. I hate her,” Seinfeld joked during an interview on WFAN radio Monday night. “I can’t believe they put her in my box, which I paid for…”

“You give people the finger and you get upgraded? Is that the world we’re living in now? he said.

Seinfeld admits to being generally tired of Lady Gaga overall, adding:

“I don’t know what these young people think or how they promote their careers,” he said. “I’m older, I’m 56. I look at Lady Gaga the way Keith Hernandez watches these kids when they pull the pocket out, they wear the inside-out pocket. … Do you think he understands that? He can’t understand that. That’s a new game, that’s kids.”

He added, “I’m not one of these all-publicity-is-good people. People talk about you need exposure — you could die of exposure.”

The former comic did say that he felt the singer was “talented” and he didn’t know why she felt the need to be “doing this stuff.”

Video viewing trend tracker Visible Measures says the Seinfeld/Gates ads have experienced 4.3 million more views than the “I’m a PC” ones. Both, the firm says, had the same number of placements. And even though the Seinfeld/Gates spots launched two weeks earlier than the current campaign, the figures are clear:

• The Seinfeld/Gates ads grabbed 3.2 million views in their first 10 days; “I’m a PC” pulled in half of that
• Two weeks in, the Seinfeld/Gates ads were still seeing 300,000+ daily hits; “I’m a PC” dropped to 50,000 daily views by the same relative point

Of course, what really counts is how it all adds up when it comes to actual sales. Any predictions?

The official Microsoft spin on the move is that they are moving to phase two of the campaign, and that they had always planned to drop Seinfield, although no word yet as to whether Bill Gates will make another appearance.

It’s a sensible move, but a costly mistake. $300 million is budgeted on this campaign, and Seinfiled’s fees alone are probably in the millions. I’ll reserve judgement on phase two until we see it, but they couldn’t possibly be any worse.

After heavy head shaking following the first effort, the Bill Gates Jerry Seinfield Microsoft ad series returns for a second run above. According to VentureBeat this is the uncut version, which makes sense given it runs for 4:30, but still, it’s yet another ad about nothing, with a short bit about connecting people at the end.
